Full textThis thesis aims to study the Maistrean interpretation of the French Revolution, which, contrary to the common view postulated by great part of the historiography, was not confined to the famous providential treatment exposed in the Considérations sur la France (1797), but manifested instead in many other writings distributed along the 14 volumes of his Collected Works, not to mention the thousands pages of his unpublished notebooks. We would like to show that Maistre had the merit of considering the French Revolution in the light of the long-term historical process of modernization of the West, whose guidelines, expressed by the Protestant Reformation and the Enlightenment, allowed him to explain not only the Revolution in France, but also to predict the advent of an \'age of revolutions \'. Above all, we seek to demonstrate how Joseph de Maistre\'s (1753-1821) critique of the Enlightenment - and, by extension, revolutionary - project to humanity is, surprisingly, not only coincident with the way recent scholars interpret the genesis of the modern world, but, despite its deeply conservative character and intentions, is also supported by indelibly humanist and rationalist assumptions

Full textAlthough the philosophy of Joseph de Maistre does not form a system and is presented like thought of ideological nature, it can be subject to an overall study wich attempts to reconsitute its coherence. Joseph de Maistre, whose main works were written between 1793 and 1821, is a major figure in contrerevolutionary catholicism : the specific philosophical interest of his thought lies in the fact that it proposes a pure type of authoritarianism and traditionalism. Maistre affirms, contrary to the claim for rational autonomy raised by the Enlightenment, the rights of authority beneath the triple figure of monarchic, pontifical and divine authority. This battle against the Enlightenment takes its place in the tradition of catholic philosophy ; but since it itself rests on certain of the fundamental concepts of the Enlightenment - due to his political notion of soverignty, Maistre takes his place in the legacy of Rousseau ; due to his innate rationalism, he takes his place in the legacy of Descartes-, the maistrian refusal of the Enlightenment equally lies within the framework of an internal dialectic of the Enlightenment. The scope of this study is the examination of the theology of history of the Savoyard writer Joseph-Marie de Maistre (1753-1821) from the perspective of the concept of Paideia or divine education developed in a branch of providential thinking that used to be predominant in the theology of early Eastern Christianity, especially in the works of Origen. The core argument is the claim that this perspective may prove to be particularly able to provide the necessary grounds for a global interpretation of his thought, harmonizing and integrating the diversity of aspects society, politics, anthropology, theory of knowledge by which it is characterized, and offering a privileged view on the historical formation of Man that is constantly referred to his eschatological destiny. My contention is that this is so because Joseph de Maistre is essentially a religious thinker of man and history, in spite of what his strong concerns for political issues, quite invariably brought to the limelight, might have led many commentators to believe. Thus, the study s primary aim is to put forward a picture of his doctrine and its importance in the history of ideas of a kind that was seldom attempted, a reading of the whole Maistre grounded on the Christian idea of a providential education of Mankind (or of a pedagogical divine Providence) which has as its immediate end (and that is Maistre s personal contribution to this long tradition) the bringing up of concrete men and women within the open finitude of their social environment and, eventually, as its final aim, the annihilation of evil in the universe through the acceptance of suffering and evil and their transfiguration in the imitation of Christ, the ultimate model of perfection for the human being
O objeto deste estudo é a teologia da história do escritor savoiano dos séculos XVIII-XIX, Joseph Marie de Maistre (1753-1821), articulada segundo o conceito de paidéia divina desenvolvido pelo pensamento providencial do cristianismo de fala grega, e na obra de Orígenes em especial. A hipótese de fundo é de que a paidéia se constitui numa perspectiva privilegiada para sustentar uma interpretação verdadeiramente global do seu pensamento, harmonizando e integrando, como poucas, os diversos aspectos que o compõem sociedade, política, antropologia, teoria do conhecimento - numa visão da formação histórica do homem constantemente referida a seu destino escatológico e sobrenatural. Isto acontece porque Joseph de Maistre é, em essência, um pensador religioso do homem e da sua história, a despeito do que as suas fortes preocupações de natureza política, elevadas ao primeiro plano, levaram muitos estudiosos a imaginar. Trata-se, assim, de propor uma visão geral da sua doutrina e importância na história das idéias que, como testemunha a vasta fortuna crítica sobre a sua obra, poucas vezes foi tentada, estruturando, tanto essa generalidade, quanto a especificidade da leitura sobre a idéia de uma educação da humanidade de feitio providencial (e, em sentido inverso, de uma Providência educativa) que tem, como objetivo imediato, a formação do homem concreto na finitude aberta do ambiente social, e como meta final o resgate do mal no universo através da aceitação do sofrimento e da sua transfiguração na imitação do Cristo, o molde supremo do ser humano

Full textThe purpose of this study is to present a historical revision of Joseph de Maistres Considérations sur la France (1797), which represents a pioneering attempt of historical interpretation of the revolutionary phaenomenon in French language and from the point of view of the counter-revolution. In doing so, we intend to offer a panoramic view of the use made of Joseph de Maistres most famous pamphlet in the historiography of the French Revolution. It also provides a brief intellectual biography of the savoyard which tries to underline the complexity of the Maistrean reaction to the Enlightenment and the Revolution - marked by an eccentric interaction with certain currents of jesuitism, iluminism and the Enlightenment. Last but not least, we present a translation of the pamphlet, heretofore neglected in Portuguese.

Full textThe Sardinian restoration, in 1815, aroused a literature that was first devoted to the Savoyan dynasty and which tried to restore its sacredness. As a matter of fact, this situation moved towards the emergence of a mythology whose nature may be questioned. Was this mythology a pure convention or was it based on deeper soul foundations ?The objective conditions of the Savoyan cultural life at the time are known to have shown a constant research for identity in the feudal past. In Savoy, contrary to what happened in France, at first the legacy of the French Revolution was rejected in order to return to the old state of mind. The Academy of Savoy was created in this impetus of cultural restoration, opening widely to a poetry, which would also revive the marvelous medieval. Education, on the other hand, was rendered entirely to the bishops who were anxious to instruct the people in a religious sense. However, despite the romantic personality of Charles Albert, this trend finally collapsed under the pressure of social evolution. Nevertheless, Savoy remained a deeply Catholic region in a remarkable way until the beginning of the 1900s, taking advantage of the arrangements of the Annexation Treaty to preserve its own prerogatives. As its taste for the marvelous focused on local traditions, for a long time Savoy succeeded in keeping ts specificity and rich, shimmering imaginations.In this field, it obtained its inspiration on a literary tradition which was already rich before 1792 and dominated by the work of Francis de Sales. It was also marked by dynastic chronicles and court, or even patriotic, poetry, which appeared in the Renaissance period. Mixing baroque art with the worship of princes and local saints, it brought out the outline of a new mythology from the sixteenth to seventeenth century. Furthermore, Rousseau influenced those who felt nostalgia for an idealized Savoy, perceived as closer to deity than the great cities of the French plains.The landscape was transfigured by a bourgeoning romantic poetry and individuals saw themselves as a summary of the religious history of humanity. As a consequence, the hero became closer to humanity, without losing his links with the deity. The supernatural creatures of the marvelous, pagan or Christian, popular or learned, were also provided with life, connecting themselves with mountains, lakes, princes, people and with all other ordinary realities experienced by the authors. Instead of remaining in abstract and conventional worlds , these creatures inregrated the local life, becoming the expression of a national genius conceived as a secret soul of the Savoyan land, which could even have a thought by itself. Hereafter natural phenomena were regarded as inhabited by divine wisdom, and considered in their overall harmony allowing the existence of an intermediate world situated between the physical world and the divine world and where Providence could communicate and act by itself. A sort of romantic science, similar to the German one, started to develop trying ti test the aims of divinity in the present not only for humanity, as a group, in Europe, but also for the individual, whose own enigmas were touched. This is how a real mythology, alive and moving, emerged in Savoy.Faced with the richness of this inspiration, we may wonder why today these works are disregarded by critics. Among the answers that could explain the situation we may point out the inadequacy of the Savoyan tradition, marked by Italy and Germany, to the standards of French University

Full textJoseph de Maistre fue un pensador original, de una profundidad mayor de la que frecuentemente suele concedérsele y poseedor, además, de una prosa excepcional. Este estudio pretende mostrar de un lado que su filosofía y su lucha a favor de la ortodoxia religioso-política bebe, paradójicamente, de fuentes abiertamente heterodoxas y de otro lado que su discurso ideológico y antirrevolucionario, nutrido por la fuerza de este ascendiente, influyó de forma determinante en los apriorismos fundamentales del pensamiento contrarrevolucionario español en el periodo que va de 1833 hasta 1936. Espera además contribuir a determinar cómo el peso de sus textos ayudó a modelar de forma significativa la reflexión teórica de varios de los principales ideólogos filosófico-políticos de la España antiliberal de la época. Para ello, esta tesis se estructura en tres grandes apartados El primero aborda las fuentes heterodoxas del pensamiento demaistriano. La primera y fundamental de entre ellas es el nominalismo fideísta y escéptico presente en todo el desarrollo intelectual del filósofo nacido en Chambéry. Su nominalismo le conecta con Escoto, Ockham y Gregorio de Rimini, pero también con Lutero o Pascal. La segunda línea sería la conformada por el martinismo y a través de él por la esperanzada escatología de Joaquín de Fiore y su tercer milenio. Finalmente, una tercera fuente que estaría nutrida curiosamente por los que al mismo tiempo fueron sus adversarios ideológicos más directos, así Voltaire y los revolucionarios jacobinos. En el segundo gran apartado de esta tesis se sintetiza la filosofía de de Maistre a la luz de estas influencias heterodoxas citadas y de su aversión a la Revolución Francesa para ponerlo en conexión con el contexto histórico del pensamiento contrarrevolucionario español. Un pensamiento necesitado de un elemento novedoso que aportara frescura y que fuese capaz de reemplazar al escolasticismo decadente de los primeros teóricos antirrevolucionarios españoles. En el último bloque de este estudio, se realiza un análisis ya más pormenorizado de la presencia de Joseph de Maistre en los pensadores antiliberales españoles de este periodo y se muestra como éstos participaron de una serie de apriorismos ideológicos, en los que sin duda puede distinguirse el influjo demaistriano. Privilegiando para ello, especialmente en la segunda parte de este bloque, la comparación directa de textos de los distintos autores con los del filósofo saboyano.
Joseph de Maistre was an original thinker with exceptional prose. This study wants to show first that his philosophy and his fight for religious and political orthodoxy paradoxically born in heterodox sources and secondly that his ideological and anti-revolutionary discourse had a strong influence in the Spanish counterrevolutionary thought in period from 1833 to 1936. Expect also help determine how the influence of his writings helped build the theoretical meditation of most the anti-liberal Spanish philosophers and political ideologues of this period. This thesis is divided into three major sections. First studies the unorthodox sources de Maistre thought. The most important is the fideism and skeptical nominalism, present in all the intellectual development of the philosopher born in Chambery. His nominalism connects him with Scotus and Ockham and Gregory of Rimini, but also with Luther or Pascal. The second line would be formed by the Martinism and through him by hopeful eschatology of Joachim of Fiore and his third millennium. Finally, a third source would be peculiarly nourished by that at one time was his closest ideological adversaries: Voltaire and the revolutionary Jacobins. In the second major section of this thesis, the philosophy of de Maistre is analyzed considering his heterodox influences and his aversion to the French Revolution to put it in connection with the historical context of Spanish counter-revolutionary thought. This Spanish thought needed a new element that will bring freshness and it was able to replace the decadent scholasticism of the first Spanish antirevolutionary theorists. The last part of this study, a more detailed analysis about the presence of Joseph de Maistre in Spanish anti-liberal thinkers of this period show as they participated in a series of ideological preconceptions, created by the influence of de Maistre thought. Giving priority, especially in the second part of this block, direct comparison of texts from different authors with texts of the Savoyard philosopher.

Full textAppropriate provision of information regarding food, including foodstuff labeling, is considered to be an efficient tool to promote healthy lifestyle and ensure a safe use of foods. Research conducted in Lithuania indicate that just a small percentage of Lithuanian residents choose foods to prevent disease, however, there is a lack of data concerning the links between food information and the choice of foods of Lithuanian adults. The aim of the study is to investigate and evaluate the links between food information and choice of foodstuffs from a public health viewpoint. The results of the research show, that most of Lithuanian adult residents consider that food labelling information is not fully comprehensible and legible. Lithuanian adult residents reported that their food choice is mostly influenced by the minimum durability date, price and country of origin. More than half of Lithuanian adult residents wish nutrition labelling information to be presented on food labels. Females more than males, higher educated persons more than lower educated persons are interested in nutrition labelling information. From the public health viewpoint, significant links between Lithuanian adult residents’ dietary habits and their attitudes towards information about food were not found, however, those who had a healthier diet were more likely to wish nutrition labelling, its placement on the most visible side of the food package and information not only about fats, carbohydrates, proteins... On it, Maistre founded a theory which he spread throughout his works. It is summarised in a formula that was to know many subsequent variations: “when he suffers, the innocent does not satisfy for him solely, but also for the culprit, by way of reversibility”. Many a writer did learn the concept of compensatory suffering through Joseph de Maistre's books. Being continuators rather than plain followers, they achieved in unveiling the theory's implicit content, which fecundity is only matched by its depth. They have clarified the solidarities implied by reversibility, not only these among men faced with good or evil, but also those between universe (macrocosm) and man (microcosm). Full textThis work revealed that photosensitization could be effective method for decontamination of Gram positive foodborne pathogens in vitro, from packaging material and different food matrix. Obtained results in vitro suggest that full inactivation of pathogenic microorganisms (7 log) can be achieved. After adhesion of pathogens onto polyolefine surface full inactivation by photosensitization was achieved. Due to different and complicated surfaces the efficacy of photosensitization on food matrix was a little bit lower. However, food pathogens inactivation by 2-3 log is enough for photosensitization to be one of the newest techniques for microbiological food control.

Full textThe aim of the work. To assess the employees’ attitude to the consumption of the genetically modified products and food additives. The goals of the work. 1. To determine the approach of the employees to the genetically modified products. 2. To determine the approach of the employees to food additives. 3. To assess the main factors which determine the choice of the food products. The methodology of the research. 190 questionnaires were distributed during the research. 160 questionnaires were completed. The data of the survey were analyzed by using the software package SPSS 15.0 “for Windows”. Hypotheses were checked by applying for the df and χ2 tests, and the appointed significance level is p<0,05. The results. 56,9 % of the respondents negatively assesses genetically modified products. 56,2 % of the questioned women and 70,0 % of the questioned men think that GM food is harmful. GM food is used by the 20,0 % of the questioned women and the 30,0 % of the questioned men. Full textThe aim of this research on food products advertisement and labeling was to find out and evaluate knowledge about food labeling among Lithuanian adult population, food labeling weaknesses, as well as advertised products purchase. The Task of Research: 1. To explore and to find out whether consumers understand labeling information provided in food products label; 2. To explore and to find out whether legibility of food products labels must be improved; 3. To explore and to find out whether consumers purchase advertised food products. 3500 Lithuania adults were selected to participate in this research. The rate of research reply is 69,1 proc. During the research, 2418 correctly answered questionnaires of Lithuanian residents were received. During the research, respondents were asked about what does provide the most knowledge about nutrition, what does make influence on selection of products, is information on food products label provided clearly, and other. The main sources which provide knowledge about nutrition are television and radio (55,9 proc.), as well as press (24,9 proc.). The selection of food products is influenced by the expiry date (82,3 proc.), place of origin (30,4 proc.) and price (38,3 proc.). Full textThis is Bachelor’s Work of designing a commercial single storey with underground building - Trade Pavilion of Food Products, which will be situated in the town of Siauliai. Trade is intended on the ground floor, parking – underground. In addition, parking, some walking paths are planned in the front of the pavilion. Remaining site is swarded and forested. The project consists of architectural, constructional, technological-economical parts and some architectural and constructional drawings. The first – architectural – part is description of the site, building, engineering networks, construction and finishing. Plans of the site and building, elevations, 3D view of the site, section and details can be found in the drawings. In the constructional part, there is engineering of a wooden-metal truss S-24 and a reinforced concrete beam R-70. In addition, production drawings of these constructions are attached. The third – technological and economical – part contains technological card, a list of quantities for overground works and an estimate for them. There is a plan of a building lot in the technological drawing, where traffic, areas for building materials, workers’ rooms are planned. Also a crane for building is chosen. Designing of a reinforced concrete floor slab PP-250 is added in Addition. Project is made with reference to Lithuanian Building Codes, standards and laws.

Full textAim of study: to investigate dietary supplements (DS) usage and opinion about DS among Lithuania universities students in the context of general demographic, social and lifestyle characteristics. Study object and methods: the sample - 1087 Lithuania universities bachelor study students, were randomly selected (multi-stage sampling). 37 questions questionnaire to target group were used to elicit necessary information. Conventional methods of statistics were used to assess differences between sample groups. Results: 73,7% students used DS; compared women and men, women more often used DS (p=0,001). Differences in attitude towards DS usage and employment status, income, permanent place of residence, father and mother education level were not significant. The most part (76%) of students were opinion that DS are effective to improve health; 69,4% of students were opinion that DS usage is effort to be careful about one‘s health; about a half (50,3%) of students were opinion that DS use is necessary for their organism; for 16,9 % of students DS were to expensive. Users were more likely to smoke less, take alcohol less, were more active, were underweight, but had higher stress level than non-users. Conclusions: 1) 73,7% students used DS; compared women and men, women more often used DS; 2) the most part of students were positive opinion about DS effectiveness and about want of DS usage for organism; 3) users were more likely than non-users to be more healthy lifestyle.

Children are becoming consumers at younger ages and a variety of influences and experiences shape their consumer habits. Advertisers spent 100s of bilions of dollars a year worldwide encouraging, persuading and manipulating people into a consumer lifestyle. Advertisements today are not so much about the products but rather about the character of the consumers and how they should feel when they use or possess the advertised product. Messages to children are all about the happiness, social status or success which accompany the possession or consumption of a certain toy or type of food. Young children are increasing the target of advertising because of the amount of money they spend themselves, the influence they have on their parents spending and because of the money they will spend in the future when they grow up. Children require special consideration and protection with respect to advertising. Advertising of high calorie, energy-dense, nutrient-poor foods [foods high in fat, sugar and /or salt] should be restricted during television programming commonly viewed by significant numbers of children. Advertising regulations should take account of the age of the likely child audience, with younger children requiring greater protection.

Many social and economical changes have occurred within the three recent decades, increased consciousness of the society changes the life style and the need for higher standards of life, they subsequently revealed the necessity of more integrated attitude towards food safety. The structure of production, processing, sales and consumption of agricultural products has changed. Increased exchange of animal products allowed users to get cheaper food and bigger variety thereof, but tracing the path of products from the manufacturer to the end user became more difficult. Today the situation in different sectors of Lithuanian agriculture is changing. As the amount of farms is decreasing, the amount of some of the bred animals is decreasing as well. According to the data from the Department of Statistics, there currently are 105000 farms breeding cattle in Lithuania. In the beginning of 2012, there were 748000 cattle, 9264000 pigs, 9466300 birds, 79000 sheep in our country. Full textThe reason of current competitiveness evaluation study importance is mostly caused by economic downturn which is extremely dangerous to parties that lack particular competitive advantages. Lithuanian milk production sector has the biggest part in food industry. In order to keep current position among the other sectors - an increase of competitiveness could be a strategic target of top importance. Enhancement could be reached by identifying factors of competitiveness. If factors are evaluated and taken in to account accordingly – milk production sector will recover from economic downturn much faster. The study identified main factors of milk production sector competitiveness: inner type- demand conditions, company image and production factors; outer type– Impact of Government activity and social/cultural factors; The biggest negative impact has lack of companies image in international markets, lack of natural resources, complexity of new business, and crediting conditions. Same time following factors have positive impact: sensitiveness to customer requirements; enhanced infrastructure and communications, increase in customers purchasing power, high level of competition in inner and outer markets, strict environmental regulations.

Evaluate indicative and toxic indexes of water supplied to the district and compare them with the quality indexes of water received by consumers at places of water consumption. 2. Identify the attitude of consumers towards water quality and ways of improvement. 3. Analyse the awareness of suppliers and consumers, interinstitutional cooperation ensuring high quality of potable water. Methods: analysis was based on data of 2006-2007 on the potable water quality indexes derived from the research protocols of the supplier – private Limited Liability Company “Raseinių vandenys” and water consumers - 286 food treatment companies. A questionnaire survey was done in February-April, 2007. Target group consisted of all food treatment objects’ representatives in Raseiniai district. 286 questionnaires were distributed; response rate was 100%. Representatives from 182 trade companies, 93 public catering companies and 11 production companies participated. Questionnaire data of food treatment objects were processed and analysed applying the statistic data analysis pack SPSS 12.0. Clusters are geographic concentrations of interconnected companies, specialized suppliers, service providers, firms in related industries, and associated institutions in a particular field that compete but also cooperate. The aim of the work is to ascertain the influence of clusters of food industry on competitiveness in the country. The object of the work is food industry enterprises. The methods of research are the analysis of science literature, comparative analysis, reconnaissance research, the analysis of statistic data and documents, interview, the analysis of the company documents. The research was carried out in September 2004 and it lasted till the May of 2006. The work consists of three parts. In order to achieve the set goal, following tasks were formed in this thesis: to analyze the legal regulation peculiarities of food labelling in legislation of European Union and Lithuania; to analyze legal regulation of requirements for labelling organic food and products that contain food additives; to provide insights regarding possibilities for consumers to implement their rights in the sphere of food labelling. One of the goals of the European Union food safety policy is to ensure the labelling of food. Therefore, after analysing the legal regulation of food labelling in the first section of the thesis, a proposition can be made that, the labelling of this sphere in the European Union is regulated by horizontal and vertical legislation. To prepare recomendations to increase privity of genetically modified food and its labeling. Methods: Object of the research - knowledge and attitude to genetically modified food and its labeling. The questionnaire was compiled after making an analysis of the latest Lithuanian and foreign scientific literature and legislation. There were totally 120 students of KTU faculty of chemical tecnology interviewed using the anonymous questionnaire (response rate 80,83 percentage). Data analysis was performed using the statistical data analysis package SPSS (version 13.00) (the chi-squared test, df) and Microsoft office Excel 2007. Differences between the indices were considered statistically significant for p-values less than 0.05. Full textThe purpose is to analyze the heavy metals and radionuclides encountered in food products, and to compare this data with the legal acts of the Republic of Lithuania and the European Union; to do the statistical analysis of monitoring results (1998-2006) of heavy metals and radionuclides; and to compare the results to the regulated norms of the heavy metals and radionuclides. There was done the analysis of the literature’s data on the mode, how heavy metals and radionuclides get into the organism and affect the human health. The legal regulation of the heavy metals and radionuclides in the LR and EU was discussed together with the monitoring data found in the literature on the heavy metals and radionuclides. The information and research material (data on the amount of undesirable remains, including heavy metals and radionuclides) were received from the National Laboratory of Veterinary. Their statistical analysis was done with the help of SPSS statistical package (SPSS Inc, 1995-2007). According to the data analysis, the biggest amounts of lead were found in 1998 (researches were done in 1998-2004). In some samples (fowl, fish) the lead’s norm was exceeded from 2 to 5 times. The biggest amount of lead was encountered in milk samples in 1998. Among 13 analyzed samples, 11 had the lead’s norm exceeded 10 times (0,11 – 0,2 mg/kg) when the norm is 0,02 mg/kg. Full textThe aim of the study – To compare Lithuanian food composition table and Russian food composition table. Methods. For comparison of the Lithuanian and Russian food composition tables, the alimentary structure of 23 alimentary products and 34 meals was analyzed. The analysis of the data of the nutrition research was performed at this work for 100 inhabitants of the Kretinga district aged 25-64 (66 women, 34 men). These respondents were selected from registers of the Kretinga Primary Health care centers. The nutrition was researched by 24 hours dietary recall method. Nutrient and energy intake was calculated by using Lithuanian food composition table and Russian food composition table. The two sets of the results were compared according to the criterion of Wilcoxon. Z test was used to compare the proportions of the energy parts of the alimentary ration received from the main nutrients. Results. By comparing the amounts of the main nutrients and energy in the alimentary products and meals in the Lithuanian and Russian tables, it was established that the structure of the most alimentary products and meals was different.
