Abstract:

The Sri Lankan Relict Ant, Aneuretus simoni Emery, survives in several wet zone and intermediate zone forests in Sri Lanka. Nests of this species and other ants were surveyed at 159 m and 291 m elevations in Indikada Mukalana Forest Reserve by laying 20 quadrats of 1 m × 1 m at two plots of each locality in December, 2015. In this paper, five species of Diphya Nicolet, 1849 are recognized in the fauna of South Africa. Four of these species are new: D. foordi sp. nov. (♂♀), D. leroyorum sp. nov. (♂), D. vanderwaltae sp. nov. (♀) and D. wesolowskae sp. nov. (♂♀). The male of D. simoni Kauri, 1950 is described for the first time. Diphya tanikawai Marusik, 2017 syn. nov. was found to be a junior synonym of D. simoni. Descriptions with illustrations, photographs and SEM images are provided for all species. The relationship between the South African and the Neotropical Diphya species is briefly discussed.

Metaltella simoni (Keyserling, 1878), an amaurobiid spider species precinctive to Argentina and Uruguay, and probably southern Brazil, is well established in the southeastern coastal regions of the United States (Leech 1972: 107). It was brought to North America by commercial and trade activities, hence the apparent distribution disjunction. Abstract:

The genus Trittame is revised and six new species are described: T. loki, T. kochi, from northern Queensland, T. thorelli, T. forsten, and T. xerophila, from mid-eastern Queensland, and T. ingrami from south-eastern Queensland. New material to the type species, T. gracilis Koch is described. The genus is endemic to Queensland and most common in rainforests. A second and new closely related genus, Zophorame and two new species, Z. simoni and Z. gallonae, both from north Queensland are described. A cladogram of Trittame and Zophorame species is presented with a brief discussion of relationships

We apply Very-High-Resolution X-Ray Computed Tomography (VHR-CT) to a minute fossil spider (~1 mm long) from Eocene amber of the Paris Basin, France. We demonstrate that the newly described genus and species of Micropholcommatidae, Cenotextricella simoni, retains excellent details of the somatic and male pedipalpal morphology that allows unqualified comparison with extant species.
