Abstract:
O estado do Maranhão possui a maior incidência de câncer de pênis no Brasil e no mundo. Estudos prévios descrevem alta prevalência de tumores infectados pelo papilomavírus humano (HPV) na região, um importante fator de risco para a doença. O potencial oncogênico do HPV é atribuído principalmente à ação das oncoproteínas E7 e E6, esta última atuando na desregulação da proteína supressora tumoral p53. Diante disso, o objetivo deste estudo foi caracterizar o perfil de expressão proteica de p53 em tumores de pênis. O estudo foi aprovado pelo Comitê de Ética em Pesquisa do HUUFMA, parecer nº 3.122.
