This paper deals with the British contacts made by Count Leopold I Berchtold (1759–1809), a prominent philanthropist from the Czech lands, as well as examining how these contacts influenced his activities and the spread of scientific knowledge to the Czech lands and presenting a rather unusual kind of cultural transfer between Britain and the Habsburg Monarchy involving philanthropism and medical science. The paper is based on the analysis of the sources stored in the Moravian Provincial Archive in Brno relating to Leopold’s life as well as on the analysis of some of his writings.

The basis for the construction of the cube model in 1:30 scale was the cube in-situ with dimensions of 6 m in Great Britain in town called Silsoe. It describes the scope and application in practice.

The case of the “Hel” ship in Polish-Belgian relations in 1955 The article deals with the Polish-Belgian legal dispute (1955) over the legality of the arrest imposed on the Polish “Hel” ship in Antwerp. The detention of the ship resulted from previous rulings of the courts of the United Kingdom of Great Britain made enforceable by the Belgian judiciary. The Polish authorities tried to transfer the legal dispute to the political and diplomatic level. This led to a Polish-Belgian “war of notes” and the degradation of relations between Warsaw and Brussels.

This article deals with the background for the November treaty of 1855 between Great Britain and France on the one hand, and the United kingdoms of Sweden and Norway on the other. The November treaty explicitly pointed to Russia as a potential aggressor against Norway and Sweden and offered these states protection by the two Western Powers.
