Abstract:
Abstract Subtle Webs provides an unprecedented behind-the-scenes look at how local organizations in Chicago, Philadelphia, and New York City have transformed data and worked with schools to solve the problem of dropping out. In the process, the book reveals how organizations outside schools have created an invisible infrastructure not only to affect local school districts but also to shape US education. The book argues that changes in a decentralized system happen less through top-down policy mandates or bottom-up social movements and more through “outside-in” initiatives of networked organiza

Abstract This book answers research questions regarding the suburbanization of persons, households, and jobs in India’s cities, their regional variations, factors which associate with this sprawl, and their consequences. We use granular data from the Global Human Settlements Layer (GHSL) at the sub-kilometre grid level for 100 Indian cities. We find that the downward-sloping population density function is appropriate for studying India’s cities. Next, we find India’s population was significantly more suburban (82%) than urban (33%) in 2015. We find that cities in the south Indian and urbanized

Abstract:
The Covid-19 pandemic heightened people’s awareness of long-standing inequalities within the fashion industry. Amid calls for greater accountability and ethical awareness, efforts are being made within and beyond the industry, chiefly in the cultural and education sectors, to decentralize fashion: to make the conception, creation and consumption of fashionable dress and appearance less ‘western’-centric. Supporting this premise, Hang-Ups argues that purposeful and permanent change within the fashion industry and fashion education is more likely if it is understood how the contemporary industry

This volume re-imagines the study of English and media in a way that decentralises the text (e.g. romantic poetry or film noir) or media formats/platforms (e.g. broadcast media/new media). Instead, the authors work across boundaries in meaningful thematic contexts that reflect the ways in which people engage with reading, watching, making, and listening in their textual lives. In so doing, the volume recasts both subjects as combined in a more reflexive, critical space for the study of our everyday social and cultural interactions. Across the chapters, the authors present applicable learning a
