Song, MeiCheng. "The contribution of circular economy and the green supply chain management theory to mobile phone waste recycling and reusing system." Electronic Thesis or Diss., Paris, CNAM, 2019. http://www.theses.fr/2019CNAM1271.
Full textAddressing the difficult problem of eliminating mobile phone waste, based on the concept of creating shared value, circular economy and green supply chain, this thesis was first demonstrated in theoretical frameworks and by the theoretical review of the literature, then put forward the idea and method to build a mobile phone waste recycling system based on these theories. To facilitate the recycling of mobile phone waste at the practical level in China and other countries, the existing problems and the way of operation are summarized, and the utilization space of mobile phone waste is expanded. Quantitative analysis is applied to examine the relevant evaluation indicators and mathematical models at the analytical level. This thesis mainly used the following four types of research methods: analytic hierarchy process, empirical analysis, quantitative and qualitative analysis, as well as an integration of the macro level and micro level analysis. Through these research methods, this thesis made a detailed analysis and discussion on the recycling status, influencing factors, the effects of use, comprehensive evaluation index system and relevant laws and regulations of mobile phone waste. After a detailed analysis, the thesis concluded that even though the evidences have showed that mobile phones waste cause serious pollution to the environment, an enormous amount of economic values still existed in the mobile phones waste. The low rates of recycling and reusing of systems could be strengthened first by improving the economic mechanism based on improving the economic mechanism based on the theories of the circular economy, creating shared value and green supply chains. Second, by improving the technological innovation. Third, by building a relevant system of laws and regulations on mobile phone waste management. Fourth, by establishing a system of reasonable and effective evaluation indicators through the use of mathematical models. And finally, by subsidizing educational activities to promote the protection of the environment and put in place a set of management systems that involve the public, governments and manufacturing companies

Full textThis research studied the semio-anthropological dimensions of the mobile telephone of the foreign students in Bordeaux. Hypotheses put forward in this research implied that a cell phone is not only a technological instrument used for purely communication purposes (emitting calls and sending text messages), a cell phone represents rather a strong symbolic and anthropological object: it reflects norms and values of the postmodern society, it is abundant in values while it represents the personality of its owner, his or her taste, tendencies, the extent and complexity of the relational network of a cell phone owner. In this thesis we have carried out clarification work on multiple issues: uses, representations, the intimate relations, practical and aesthetic aspects of the device, not forgetting the semiotics of the mobile phone in the social and domestic spheres. A cell phone is like a vast world of significances contained inside a small box. The polyvalency and the extensibility of functions of the mobile telephone, the diversity of situations and behaviors that this device produces on the social stage, demonstrate that the whole world can be transported in a device. Thus, in the memory of the mobile one finds the relational network, photos, saved SMS -souvenirs, the important information, ringtones and music reflecting the personality of the cell phone user, briefly, a universe of signs and information that retraces the person's biography. This is the reason why this magic instrument became both for its owner and for the community of the intimate circle of the cell phone owner an authentic reservoir of the personality and an identification card. While we try to conceive the cell phones as a tool non limited to its instrumental functions, we discover that this device perfectly reflects the values of hypercommunicating society of today: permanent connectivity, mobility, conceptual and real scrambling between public and private, self-representation and intergenerational ties meditated by the technology

Full textThis thesis presents the study of small antennas used for Third Generation mobile phone. These antennas need wide and multiple bands, with the smallest size. These characteristics can be obtained by the use of several techniques –shorting post, short circuit planes, slots which allow the obtainment of small antennas, fed by coaxial probe or coplanar waveguide. The used of these various techniques result to compact antenna with dual-band GSM/UMTS which can be integrated in a mobile phone. In case of narrow bandwidth, active components are integrated in these structures to realize frequency agile antennas. Behaviors of these antennas are studied with physical phenomena. Performances of these antennas are validated with measurement of several prototypes

Full textDue to new request from the market of the mobile phone, the new third generation of standards challenges designers. Actually, these standards define a multitude of services using different bitrates that the final customer can use. This capability implies a very high complexity at some points of the network, in particular for base-stations. Base stations of the third generation mobile networks should be able to process a lot of data received from and sending to a multitude of users, communicating at the same time. PhD work presented in this document is about the definition of a new software/hardware co-design tool. This tool called BERLIOZ, « emBedded systEM exploRation for pipeLIned executiOn optimiZation », offers to embedded systems designers a set of architectural solutions to the problems posed by third mobile generations standards like the UMTS. So, this tool can analyse applications of signal processing which periodicity can be shorter than their deadlines. The computation of solutions is done with the help of a heuristic composed of two genetic algorithms. The use of these algorithms allows to achieve solutions matching a set of constraints like the silicium area of a system. After the deep study of third generation standard called UMTS, we have validated our approach on a real industrial application : the design of the “Symbol rate” part of a UMTS base-station

Full textMobile telephony has met a growing success since the apparition of the numerical networks. This increase of users demands more broadband services. The third generation of mobiles should then answer this request in the next decade. The apparition of these new mobile telecommunications services gives rise to specific and drastic requirements concerning the integration of this systems, more especially in the field of the analogical devices. In this context, the LEST developed a new technology based on the exploitation of polyurethane foam materials. In addition to its interesting electrical qualities (low dielectric permittivity and low losses), this material composition makes it easily conformable according to the requirements of the system to be designed. It can be very easily cut, pressed or machined. Volumes of varied forms are thus obtained. This allows total integration possibility of the designed devices. Based on this technology, many innovating solutions of antennas have been proposed in this work. Some of them are very broadband, others offer a very open radiation diagram and are consequently very intereting for the realization of agile antenna. This work presents an original synthesis technique of microstrip filter. The use of miniaturized loop resonators and the control of multiple couplings inside them allow the optimisation of these filters to reach the requirements of mobile telecommunication. After reviewing many integration technologies of MMIC amplification chip, which are adapted to the concerned market, some complete transceiver modules integrated inside the centre of the antenna have been finally proposed

The report focuses more especially on the two main issues accompanying the industrial qualification of new capacitor technologies : leakage current and Time-dependant-dielectric-breakdown. On the one hand, the capacitors leakage current must remain below a critical value, so that the energetic autonomy of mobile phones might be preserved. On the other hand, concerning reliability expectation, an intrinsic lifetime of seven years at 0,01% of failure rate must be guarantied for these devices in operating conditions. The two mains results of this work are provided by two mathematical models that define the application domains in which these industrial specifications of reliability and leakage current levels are satisfied

Full textThis thesis work deals with automatic speaker recognition for professional telecommunication networks (PMR). More precisely, the targeted application is the online monitoring of communications on this kind of networks. State of the art speaker recognition systems show good performance on telephonic data. Therefore, the targeted application introduces specific constaints. We evaluate the impact of these constraints on a baseline speaker recognition system and propose solutions to limit their influence on recognition error rates. Firstly, we propose an optimised speech parameterization. Some technics are introduced to compensate the effects of noisy environments, low bitrate voice coding and channel transmission variations. Moreover, this parameterization is compliant with the online recognition processing needed by the targeted application. Then, we introduce a new approach for unsupervised speaker model adaptation to reduce the issue of the poor quantity of learning data. Unsupervised adaptation is also a way to reduce the impact of the intra-speaker and inter-session variabilities. We propose a continuous progressive speaker model adaptation able to take into account all the test data withdrawing threshold based data selection

Full textThe question about new entrants' identification into an industry deals as much with empirical research as economic theory. Either point of view offers only partial and intuitive answers and rely on tools which reveal themselves enable of contributing to the understanding of the question and to the building of an analytical answer. The evolutionary analysis of the firm provides the global framework, while the resource-based theory and the competence-based one define the appropriate tools: the firm as a portfolio of resources (physical, financial and intangible) and operational and strategic competences. Assuming a correlated and coherent diversification of the firms, we show that it's the proximity of some industries with the telecommunication services ones (mobile and fixed telephone) which induce the firms to diversified themselves. The identification of sectorial proximity relies on the existence of similar and complementary resources. Although all the firms of an industry from which the telecommunications services industry is near are potential entrants, only a few of them will enter. The latter need should have strategic competences which are tacit, hard to imitate and accumulate during their history and should be able to contract alliances and develop their learning capacity to increase their chances to enter in the new industry. Some empirical conclusions are drawn in terms of methodological investigation on the identification and the different features of resources and competences but also in terms of implementation of the sectorial proximity. Theoretically, the introduction of a sectorial analysis of competences on the one hand and considering of the influence of the maturity differential of the industries on the different kind of operational and strategic competences used one the other hand, could establish new promising developments

Full textHow can the success of the mobile phone be explained? Are the social mechanisms surrounding the mobile phone different from those associated with the television or the car, to name just two examples? We will argue that the diffusion of consumer goods is always at heart of a normative construction as they become indispensable. We will use the concept of "norm of consumption" in well as the case of the mobile phone in France as a tool to understand the advent of these goods. Consumption norms go through a cycle of appearing, crystalising, and changing. Their apparition can be understood by to private decision which leads to posessing the object. The crystalisation of a norm occurs through the approriation of the object and the many uses deriving from their use. Finally, norms change through aggregate effects as individual actions intercross, as do the industrial and consumerist logics, the effect of which is evolution

The three cases studied are the Armada de Rouen 2008, the Braderie de Lille 2011 and the Armada de Rouen 2013. The aim of this thesis is to study and evaluate the impacts on urban spatial patterns thanks to modelling and simulation methodologies. To tackle the huge amount of data statistical methods, spatial analysis, and a new agent based model (GAMA) have been used. The achievement of this research lead us to highlight the role of spatial (attractiveness, concentration, etc. ) and temporal patterns (rhythms, urban pulses, etc. ) of urban spaces during the ongoing agenda of a popular large planned event. The outcomes of this research underline the relevance of the mobile phone data to understand the short-lived functioning as well as the routine of the city during major events. Moreover impacts in terms of mobility and social behavior must be taken into account

Answering this question can make use better understand convergence markets of mobile internet investigating users and industrial clubs. Our main hypothesis are the lack of club (for the antiope system), user club as a toy to limitate users autonomy by prescribing uses, industrials club as organizer of the sector according the size and , specialization. Users clubs are made of two functions: "fidelisation" and "to make user to pay". For the industrial clubs, the functions are federation, coalition and normalisation. Elements confirm the importance of the Club socio-economical logic and present four fundamental aspects: the supply logic (a leadership in a membership), the subscription, the traceability and a limitation of the costs

Full textWith the development of technology-based services the question of the level of their acceptance was raised. In mobile communication, the French progressively adopt these services. This thesis aims to understand this adoption. The study of the literature in innovations adoption helped us to identify the main factors influencing technology-based services adoption. An exploratory quality study helped us to enrich our conceptual framework. The proposed model was evaluated by quantitative survey among 350 mobile services users. Finally, the execution of a case study proved itself necessary to explain the take-off of the mobile data services in France due to the launch of a multifunction Smartphone device. The results of the three studies reveal that the TAM constructions are pertinent in the explanation of the technology-based services usage. Our results highlight the influence of brand communities in the technology-based services adoption process

Full textCellular networks undergo majors changes in the world. Several standards have been deployed since 1980. The enthusiasm of the general public quickly saturated the first generations and the number of services increases for every standard. Development of a new one is the occasion to find new ways to simplify the radio architecture in order to relieve consumers high quality of service. Today, this radio architecture has been simplified but base station antennas have become more and more critical for their size and create problems in towns specially. Moreover, constraints from the government and consumers associations contest deployment of new base station. Works of the thesis are focused on increasing base station antenna gain based on two different technologies. Then, conception of compact radiating elements was developed and presented through a small array. Good results open new perspectives to realize a compact multiband base station antenna thanks to new compact radiating element sized in others frequency bands

Full textThe generalization of the use of the mobile phone in Africa and Gabon in specific is a reality. It is a behavior with no precedent. It thus raises the question of information technologies and new forms of communication. This in turn invokes the issue of "information era". In this effervescence for mobile telephony, many questions deserve to be posed. Undoubtedly the most significant one is: why this passion? With a critical analysis of this question on realizes that currently this technological developpement doesn't have any importance at least from an economic standpoint. Despite the lack of economic evolution, there is an increasing usage of mobile pones in Gabon. Thus we treat people' attachment to the mobile phones as a need of communication. That being the lesson which one can learn from the generalized establishment of the mobile phones in Africa and in Gabon in particular, one can look at mobile phone usage in terms of interpersonal relations and social relations

Full textThis thesis aims at describing how mobile phone users build remote conversations in public places. We examine how various features of these environments become constitutive components of conversations. The main intuition of this research is that the observation of the telephonists' local actions and investigations can convey us to a practical and vivid picture of public places' everyday life. We considered that mobile phone conversations constitute a convenient tool to explore the organisation of public life. This research strategy promotes the development of a precise and formal analysis of social action. Thus, we have singled out the study of video sequences recorded in various public places (streets, restaurants, railway stations, etc. ) as well as of audio conversations issued by mobile phones. These data proved to be a sufficiently detailed material to analyse of the organisation of courses of action. If several studies of mobile phone have focused on trouble and inconvenience raised by conversations in public places, our analysis underlines the ability of social actors to manage and organize their practices in public places and in their conversations. The naturalistic study of these two fronts of interaction allows to cope with several reflexive characteristics of usage environments. Mobile conversations have also the singular property to reveal different social usages of the location of telephonists in public places: to arrange to meet, to look after temporal norms, etc. Finally, this analysis led us to pay attention to private places, insofar as users tend to localize their calls not far from home, and more generally to challenge usual boundaries of social life

Full textThe integration of many complex functions in embedded systems such as mobile phones, led to optimize energy consumption to maintain operational autonomy. Concerning the chain of sound reproduction, consumption was reduced by the use of analog Class D amplifiers, but the nature of the digital audio source requires a digital to analog converter further upstream. The high consumption of the ADC and the quality of sound reproduction of the amplifier are currently the main limitations of this approach. This research, conducted in four phases, thus aims to make improvements and propose new architectures to reduce these limitations. Regarding the Class D amplifier analog control loop an analog modulator based on a self-oscillating hysteresis has been developed to reduce consumption and increase its quality of reproduction. This study was validated by the realization of a circuit in CMOS 130 nm. The ability to control the class D amplifier directly from a digital control signal was then considered. The train of pulses needed to control the power stage is obtained by digital modulation of the audio source. The use of open-loop output stage, however, does not produce an audio signal output insensitive to variations in the diet. A local analog servo around the power stage is required. Realization in CMOS 130 nm of this architecture has allowed the validation studies (operation, stability, bandwidth, modeling non-linear elements ,...). The interface between the digital modulator and the analog part is very sensitive to disturbance. A digital control overall Class D amplifier with digital control has been studied to control the interface. A prototype of this control is in progress

Full textAt the end of 2009, the competition authorities have granted a 4th mobile license to Free, French operator already present in the fixed telephony and the Internet. The new operator not having a good coverage, he obtained permission to sign a roaming agreement with the incumbent operator Orange, enabling Free subscribers access to the network in areas not yet covered. Given its dependence on Orange, Free can be seen as a virtual mobile operator. We use a parameter that describes the level of independence of Free and can take three possible values. At first Free is an operator totally dependent on Orange. Then, a part of the traffic of Free passes by its own network. Finally, Free is an independant operator like Orange, SFR and Bouygues Telecom. From a comparative static analysis, we study the consequences of the granting of this license under Cournot competition. When Free is an operator totally dependent on Orange, with a low rate of access to the Orange network, its entry leads to a reduction of price and profits of some incumbent operators with an increase in consumer surplus. However the magnitude of the reduction is greater when Free becomes more independent. Stackelberg competition allows to notice better the price reduction after the entry of Free. Thus, the objective of this thesis is to highlight the importance of the inclusion of the roaming contract to analyze the effects of the entry of Free. Free had negative impacts on his competitors, in particular Bouygues Telecom. To remain in the sector, there are three possibilities of merger. The mergers with Free or SFR-Numericable are made with reduction of costs, whereas that with Orange is without synergy. The analysis of these mergers show that they are at the same time profitable and socially beneficial. Thus in this thesis, we show that any merger creates no synergy, is not necessarily anti-competitive. However a dilemma arises for Bouygues Telecom, because the merger accepted by the authorities of regulation is not the one that gives him the highest profit

This aerial, derived of the monopolar wire-patch antenna, presents a low frequency working mode, conferring it a very compact structure. So, its topology and its moderate cost allow it to answer the current needs of compact antennas for the short range wireless communication. From this concept of antenna, various studies are proposed: two-bands CWP antennas, array of CWP antennas, etc. Applications for the automotive domain are envisaged. Two-bands coplanar wire-patch antennas are used to work on both standards of mobile telephony GSM and DCS, and this in an original place of the car: the window. The theoretical analysis of presented structures was realised with a calculation tool, based on the Finite Differences in Temporal Domain method (F. D. T. D. )

Full textNowadays the cell phone is a multifunction tool that is used to communicate, learn, interact in different contexts such as at home, in the street or in public transport. However, the use of these features is limited by the interfaces of these devices (small screen, reduced or absent physical keyboard, one-handed interaction, etc. ). The improvement of these interfaces is a then a scientific and industrial challenge. In this context, this PhD thesis first studies the specific constraints of mobile devices and classifies the existing techniques and the solutions proposed to solve the previously identified constraints. It then proposes five new interaction techniques that answer issues not fully resolved. Taptap and MagStick are two techniques that address the problem of small target acquisition with the thumb on a touch screen. Physical keyboards are often missing on mobile devices and the LeafMenu proposes to reintroduce an expert mode to linear menus by adding gestural shortcuts. MicroRolls proposes to increase the input bandwidth of mobile devices by using rolling movements of the thumb. These gestures, distinguishable from usual gestures through their specific shapes, thus increase the input vocabulary of touch screens by allowing, for instance, the activation of very frequent commands. The last contribution of this thesis focuses on the use of tridimensional gestures as another way to enrich the input vocabulary as illustrated by TimeTilt, a technique that combines fluid and impulsive gestures to facilitate navigation between multiple views

Full textThe interaction between a mobile phone antenna and its environment (for example the user hand and head) modifies the radiating elements impedance. The antenna then presents an impedance which is different from the power amplifier one. Besides, the 4G context introduces new constraints on the antenna to guarantee higher data rates on more frequency bands. In order to decrease the user interaction, while considering the 4G challenges, two area of research have been studied in this work. The first solution that we have evaluated consists in inserting a tuner between the radiating element and the front end module, in order to counteract the antenna mismatch and to present an impedance close to 50 Ohms to the power amplifier. Prototypes have been realized using CMOS SOI 130 nm technology from STMicroelectronics. Obtained performances are at the state of the art, but the behavior of the tuner which is narrowband in phase showed that the co-design with the antenna is mandatory in order to demonstrate the tuner interest. The second developed line of research consists in realizing a wideband antenna, combining antenna and circuit design techniques. Demonstrators have been manufactured using the LDS-LPKF process. Smartphones prototypes have been proposed to implement the antenna in a realistic way to characterize their impedance and radiating behavior. Measurement shows a good robustness to the user interaction (in terms of matching) and efficiencies with similar values to commercial phones ones, while guaranteeing an operation in 4G bands and enabling carrier aggregation. As this method is scalable and compatible with the plastronics integration (components are integrated on the plastic), these prototypes paves the way for numerous perspectives, to cover different applications in the medical, wireless sensors network or the automotive areas

Numerous factor have a bad influence on capacity and the quality, these include propagation effects and noise. The goal of this thesis is to assess the benefit for adding several antennas in an enabled UMTS product, in order to provide some specifications. The system study performed in the simulator SPW. The greater part of this work was focused on the base-band part (2D RAKE, multi-antenna equalisation) and its optimisation through analytical and simulation results. The performance improvement has been balanced against the complexity ; the most promise solution produce the best trade-off between complexity and performance. The last part is devoted to the multi-antenna RF receiver. Several assumptions on the antenna system configuration have beeen studied from the hardware demonstrator realised within the laboratory

Full textAlways available, the mobile phone has become an instrument of play in situations flot previously seen, like transit places. Gaming once isolated and separate can be superimposed to daily activity. Thus, gamers must manage mobility and take into account a bystander’s presence. Game use on the mobile triggers three kinds of sociability : the first one, a bot sociability, is defined by collective usage, face to face, in the same location for the duration of the game. The second is tepid, defined as collective, through a virtual link, involving also unknown people. Additional components such as chat, webcam or instant messaging, can contribute to a doser feel. The third kind of sociability is cold. Here the game is played alone and can be superimposed with other activities. In transit places, games must be ready to use, packaged to end in five minutes. In seated places, for longer durations, in order to renew interest, games must be thousand and one night games with distribution changes at every play. As soon as a pat-tuer is ready to play, depending on he or she is present or whether there’s a virtual link. It is possible to switch from one kind of sociabilitv to another, without changing nor the support. For the game, nor the plaver

Full textThrough which processes is the usage norm of the technical artefact that is the cell phone socially constructed? Based on the family dynamics found in contemporary families, how are the social representations of this interpersonal communication device structured? The method is interdisciplinary, drawing from sociology of family and of usages, as well as the communicational approach. The mobile phone is examined in its social object dimension (usages in public spaces, analysis of public controversies around antennae and the price of an SMS), in its technical object dimension (appropriation), in family mediation (micro-coordination, reassurance and social control), in a friendly (management of social life) as well as in a professional (work relations and conciliation of private and professional lives) network, all of which are studied in relation to consumption practices. Three usages repertoires have been identified: legitimization oriented towards intra-home relations, mixed legitimization, professional and intra-family, and legitimization centred on amicable sociability. The questions of autonomy/dependence and reproduction/evolution of social and/or sexual roles seem central to explaining why mobile/cell phone usages are becoming commonplace. The study is supported by a qualitative survey based on semi-directive interviews conducted with 20 families of young adolescents (of which 6 single-parent families for a total sample of 51 interviews), an analysis of media discourse, and the utilization of various studies available on the subject

Full textThe mobile phone market is always very active despite the slow-downs forecasted by the analysts. The technological war is on between phone constructors which do not stop to add functionalities to their platforms. Power supplies relies on batteries. But they are not able to provide a fixed voltage while the device is in use. They also can not guaranty a fixed voltage whatever is the load placed behind. But to ensure a correct behavior of embedded precision electronics, a fixed voltage source must be provided. Autonomy is now a key factor to ensure a given phone success on the market. In this dynamical context, Switch Mode Power Supplies started to appear in the world of mobile phones. They have to be stable, precise and be highly efficient. But the first point (stability) is really complex to master. This PhD thesis proposes a contribution to stability study of step-down DC/DC converters. Classical approaches based on linear methods are explored but given up. The first harmonic method is also quickly investigated to finally concentrate the effort on non-linear approaches and hybrid modeling. These last methods will allow to define a general stability criterion whose validity is also verified for other types of regulator (boost and buck-boost). The criterion is then verified against several simulations : – mathematical simulations based on hybrid models ; – VHDL-AMS based simulations ; – electrical simulations at transistor level ; – prototype based on discrete components. The criterion was each time verified. A tool exploiting those results has been created and will be integrated inside the design flow in STMicroelectronics. Switch-mode power supplies realized during this study were analyzed afterwards and a great concordance has been seen between tool predictions and real converters behaviors

This research aims to determine in what way(s) the intrusion of advertising perceived by the consumer can be mitigated. The results of this work, stemming from a qualitative exploratory study based on 32 individuals (advertisers, communication agencies, experts and consumers) and an experiment based on 655 respondents, confirms the general hypotheses according to which perceived usefulness and congruence may have an influence on the perceived intrusion, which in turn, will act on the attitude of the consumer in relation to mobile advertising

Full textThe objectives of this thesis were the optimization of the power efficiency and the minimization of the footprint area and cost of the integrated power supply of headset audio amplifiers on mobile platforms (fig. 1). The thesis took place in the Analog System Design group at ST Ericsson in strong collaboration with Ampere laboratory at INSA de Lyon. The french agency ANRT provided part of the project funding. The first chapter presents the current mobile platform context as well as the main characteristics of audio amplifiers driving headphones. This chapter concludes giving the need of a symmetrical power supply for the headset audio amplifiers and giving a set of electrical specifications for this power supply. The second chapter presents the state-of-the-art in terms of symmetrical power supply architectures able to fit the previously given characteristics and specifications. A set of key parameters based on the power efficiency, the relative silicon area, the relative external bill of material, the number of Input/Output pins and the external passive components area, is employed to benchmark all existing architectures to supply such audio amplifiers. This benchmark reveals the novel Single Inductor Bipolar Output (SIBO) converter as very promising. The similar existing circuits are also detailed and pros and cons of each one of them are discussed to define the most suited architecture. The third chapter proposes a dedicated power stage architecture and related conduction schemes. The design of the power stage is described as well as its dedicated control strategy. Some ideal efficiency estimations are given. The fourth chapter presents the realization of a first prototype, designed in a 130 nm ST Microelectronics CMOS process to be an early demonstrator of the architecture in chapter 3. Measurements on efficiency, control and transient performances are presented and discussed. This circuit embedded on the same die as an audio amplifier proves its effectiveness in supplying such a circuit. The fifth chapter presents a theoretical analysis of the feedback control of this SIBO converter. Mathematical linear model of the converter is derived to obtain its transfer function matrix, then the feedback structure design is defined thanks to dedicated mathematical tools. A set of classical PID controllers is proposed and validated with piecewise linear model while playing different audio popular songs. The sixth chapter describes the design of improvements of the first test chip as well as simulation results about these improvements. The main improvements presented in this chapter are a Discontinuous Conduction Mode (DCM) as well as a Pulse Skipping Mode (PSM). No silicon result can be presented here due to a budget restriction that impacted the course of the thesis. The final chapter is a discussion about the proposed solutions and some perspectives to the present work

VRML, X3D) powerful means are available which can be presented on modern personal computer in a web browser featured with a plug-in. The goal of this research was to provide the same functionality to users with mobile phones. For this purpose functionality of mobile phones was examined. In order to realise optimisation for mobile phones a proxy is introduced to perform the data optimisation for the corresponding mobile phone on the fly. Improving the realism, methods to display the 3D virtual reality as stereoscopic presentation are examined and presented

Full textThis thesis examines the types of relational strategies that firms can adopt with their competitors in a network industry : the mobile phone industry. It also purposes to highlight the determinants of these strategic choices and their implication. Finally, it aims to make a comparison of the performances of firms, according to their relational strategies choises. To address these concerns, we used, on one hand the method of structured content analysis so as to identify the strategic movements of the mobile phone operators of different countries and geographical areas ; on the other hand, we used two methods (exploratory and confirmatory) analysis for data processing. Through this thesis, we highlight three key findings : The first result shows that competitive aggressiveness, cooperativeness and coopetition are the viable relational strategies in the mobile phone industry. The second major result shows that the sectorial variables such as industrial concentration, sectorial maturity ; or more or less international presence appear to be factors determining the strategic behavior (aggressive, cooperative and coopetitive) of the mobile operators ; as well that more aggressiveness and more cooperativeness lead to better performance. Finally, it is shown in this study that the performance of the firm depends on the strategy (aggressive, cooperative, or coopetitive) adopted by the mobile operator, but also on its geographical location

Full textHands-free car kits have gained a lot of popularity among drivers over the last years. These equipments fill the need for the users to communicate while driving their car, whether it is for professional or personal use. Having a phone conversation in a car is really challenging, as the inside of an automobile is a strongly adverse acoustic environment. Indeed, this compartment is strongly reverberant, because of the presence of important glass surface (such as the windbreaker and windows), and it is also very noisy. The noise comes from various sources, such as the engine, the contact of the tire on the road, the wind..., and those sources show different characteristics from one situation to another. Hence, the noise reduction for in-car voice pickup is a major element for the user’s comfort. The main objective of the work reported in this thesis is to build an efficient noise reduction solution for in-car telephony, using a plurality of microphones. We are in this work mostly interested in the freeway situation. Hence, a database of measurements has been recorded in a real car interior, to understand what are the spectral and spatial characteristics of the noise field in this situation. These measurements showed that the noise field has different characteristics in high and low frequencies. Indeed, the noise has more energy, and is more spatially coherent in the low frequency range. This leads us to propose hybrid subband systems, in order to use different algorithmic approaches in high and low frequencies. We made an adaptive implementation of the well-known Minimum Variance Distortionless Response beamforming, which is efficient when the input Signal-to-Noise Ratio is high, and the noise field shows a low spatial coherence. We also conducted an analysis on the impact of sensors’ positions, in order to build a microphone array which will allow this method to be efficient in the high frequency range. We also considered two different processings for the low frequency range : — one is based on Adaptive Noise Cancellation, which uses the high spatial coherence of recorded noises, — the other is based on Multichannel Wiener Filter. For both methods, an analysis of the impact of sensors’ positions has been made, in order to build an efficient microphone array. To assess the performance of these hybrid systems, a subjective evaluation has been conducted, through a listening test. This evaluation shows that the hybrid system using a Multichannel Wiener Filter in the low frequency range supresses a significant amount of noise, while keeping the voice distortion to a minimum, perceptually unnoticed
