In the last decade, decolonial thinking has been gaining momentum in the field of human sciences in Brazil, above all through the introduction of theories produced by the Modernity/Coloniality Group and Boaventura de Sousa Santos. These authors have taken centre stage in the theoretical references of academic productions with this approach, producing a sense of hegemony over an epistemology that proposes to be counter-hegemonic. The aim of this theoretical-conceptual study is to highlight the most relevant criticisms of the hegemony and centrality acquired by the Group and Boaventura de Sousa

From yoga to the Anthropocene to feminist theory, recent calls to ‘decolonise’ have resulted in a resurgence of the term. This article problematises the language of the decolonial within feminist theory and pedagogy, problematising its rhetoric, particularly in the context of the US. The article considers the romanticised transnational solidarities produced by decolonial rhetoric within feminist theory, asking, among other questions: What are the assumptions underpinning the decolonial project in feminist theory? How might the language of ‘decolonising’ serve to actually de-politicise feminism

Abstract This article offers an answer to the questions about what does it mean to think decolonially, and of how it is possible to decolonise human rights. It describes decolonial thinking as a material dialectics of a critique of Eurocentrism, a rescue of Third-World perspectives, and a dialogue between the two. It then takes this threefold movement of consciousness and political action to the field of human rights, and thematises some exemplars of each of the three moments, and of models of the decolonisation of human rights, including that of re-writing their history.

I demonstrate that there exist understandings of agency within decolonial thought and new materialism which could be attuned to this call. I suggest a method that

Abstract:
In recent years, violence against women has increased significantly in Latin America. Faced with this context, women have not been passive, but have organized themselves to confront the violence of the system. The community feminism of Bolivia and Guatemala, as well as the organization of black women in Brazil are just a few examples of the different women's movements throughout the region. The proposals that have come out of these groups have made visible the historical violence of capitalism and are also proposing new ways of socialization based on the recovery of their knowledge and experie

Abstract:
This working paper approaches the current global crisis as a potential territoriality for radicalizing concepts and for learning with ongoing fugitive routes. Through nonlinear paths, I aim to examine the contours of the quilombo not only as a slavery-past event but as a continuum of anti-colonial struggle that invokes other forms of re-existence and convivial coexistence in Brazil. In doing that, this research draws attention to an Améfrica Ladina epistemology and a decolonial methodology embodied by living archives and oral histories.

Abstract:
This report captures insights gleaned from a meeting convened by the United Nations University’s International Institute for Global Health (UNU-IIGH), which took place on June 20-22. Across the three days, over two dozen delegates from 17 countries came together to envision, facilitate, and support “Enabling Environments to Advance Gender Equality in Health” through the use of a futures approach. A decolonial feminist lens informed the design and delivery of the meeting, guiding interpretations of our past, analyses of our present, and visions of our futures through an explicit interrogation o

Abstract:
This article explores how Venezuelan refugees have been constructed by the Brazilian media during the ongoing refugee crisis in South America. The fact that South-South migration has so far been understudied and the relevant and fast-escalating displacement of people from Venezuela were the motivations for this study. Twenty-one articles about Venezuelan refugees published between 2016 and 2021 by three mainstream, conservative newspapers were analyzed. The theoretical framework consisted of Fairclough’s three-dimensional model of Critical Discourse Analysis and the theoretical concepts of ste

Abstract:
Building on the scientific evidence and keeping in focus policy promises made over the decades, this report mobilizes the power of socially engaged art to bring together visions and voices of youth from across the globe in a collective effort to address the root causes of the climate crisis. It starts with the premise that education is directly implicated in the climate crisis and our failure to imagine alternatives. But it can also be the catalyst for radical change. Aiming to shift and shuffle the dominant knowledge systems and categories with the cards from the Turn It Around! deck, this re
