Abstract:
The temperature dependence of the viscosity of inorganic glasses in the glass transition region is successfully described by the Williams--Landel--Ferry (WLF) equation. For the studied glasses, the value of f_g=1/C1 weakly depends on the nature of the glasses. There is a linear correlation between delta delta Tg and Tg. From the data on the parameters of the WLF equation C1 and C2, we calculated delta delta Tg, as well as the relaxation time of the structure taug at the glass transition temperature of the glasses under study. Abstract Automotive underhood electronics are subjected to high operating temperatures in the neighborhood of 150 to 200°C for prolonged periods in the neighborhood of 10-years. Consumer grade off-the shelf electronics are designed to operate at 55 to 85 °C with a lower use-life of 3 to 5 years. Underfill materials are used to provide supplemental restraint to fine-pitch area array electronics and meet the reliability requirements. In this paper, a number of different underfill materials are subjected to automotive underhood temperatures to study the effect of long time isothermal exposure on

Abstract The mechanical properties of 3D printed polymers parts are process parameter dependent. Defects such as inadvertent voids between deposited rasters and layers lead to weakness in produced parts, which results in inferior mechanical properties as compared to injection molding. An alternative method to change energy absorption and stiffness of a polymer is hybrid additive manufacturing (AM). Hybrid-AM is the use of additive manufacturing with one or more secondary processes that are fully coupled and synergistically affect part quality, functionality, and/or process performance. In this

Polymers make up an important component of the manufacturing industry. Their density and mechanical properties makes them desirable for many applications. Currently much polymer produced is from non-renewable sources which adds to waste after disposal. PLA is a bio-based polymer shown to be promising in many studies but its inherent brittleness prevents wide scale application of the polymer. One readily feasible alternative is to reinforce PLA with fillers as a means to improve mechanical properties. Two types of PLA based bio-composites were considered: PLA-Lignin & PLA-Tannin composites.

We have been sputtering TiO2 and SiO2 for use in wide-band anti-reflection coatings on glass. We have made a study of the the optical properties of single material depositions of each of the constituent films on Corning 7059 and Silicon Wafer substrates. We have also taken some of the TiO2 depositions and deposited a SiO2 film on top of them during the same run in which the individual SiO2 sample was deposited. We are interested in knowing if the optical properties of the TiO2 or the SiO2 are affected by the deposition of SiO2 on top of the TiO2. Optical studies have been made of the six types

Differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) is a useful technique for analysing the thermal behaviour of materials by measuring the heat transferred through a sample during temperature fluctuations. For polymers, understanding their thermal characteristics is crucial to determine their process capability, mechanical properties, stability at high temperatures, and suitability for specific applications. In this context, the electrospinning process involves heating polymers and subjecting them to high voltage, leading to changes in their thermal properties. Therefore, it is essential to identify thes

A promising method using external spatial filters is described for the chromatic correction of images from transmission holograms produced in white light. The spatial corrective filter or screen represents a 1-D random diffuser and is characterized by the sinc function describing the Fourier transform of its amplitude transmittance. Holograms of nondiffuse or specularly reflecting objects, for which the far field diffraction pattern can be approximated to the delta function, have been considered for chromatic corrections by these spatial filters. However, the technique is also applicable to op

A testing program was conducted to evaluate the effects of internal pressure during the installation of composite and steel sleeves repair systems on pipelines with plain dents. The testing program included cyclic pressure testing a group of 12.75-inch OD x 0.188-inch WT, Grade X42 pipe samples with plain dents having residual dent depths on the order of 3% to 4% of the pipe's outside diameter. The dent samples were repaired using four (4) different composite repair systems, type-A steel sleeves, and steel thermal compression sleeves. The composite repair systems included a carbon fiber wet-la
