The sedimentary facies, architecture, and depositional mechanism of deltaic systems have been one of the global research hotspots in recent decades; however, the detailed distribution, sedimentary evolution, source rock potential, and major control factors of the coal-bearing shallow-water delta are still unclear. A typical shallow-water braided delta with coal-bearing source rocks developed in the Middle–Late Triassic Mungaroo Formation of the North Carnarvon Basin, which can be a good study area for an analysis of coal-bearing source rocks. Flood control is a very important issue of the environmental management in the alluvial and coastal plains. For the detail management, it is necessary to know the behavior of the flooding on the plains. Micro landforms of these plains are closely related to the flow and inundation depth of floods. Landforms of an alluvial plain are roughly classified into three units. alluvial fan, floodplain and delta. Landforms of these units are further classified into micro landforms as natural levee, flood basin, paleo-river channel, beach ridges and so on. The places on a higher micro landforms are gener

We employed X-ray diffraction methods to quantify clay mineral assemblages in the Indus Delta and flood plains since ~ 14 ka, spanning a period of strong climatic change. Assemblages are dominated by smectite and illite, with minor chlorite and kaolinite. Delta sediments integrate clays from across the basin and show increasing smectite input between 13 and 7.5 ka, indicating stronger chemical weathering as the summer monsoon intensified. Changes in clay mineralogy postdate changes in climate by 5–3 ka, reflecting the time needed for new clay minerals to form and be transported to the delta. S

Two stratigraphic sections were measured through Late Triassic - Early Jurassic aged strata in the Blue Mountains map area (NTS 340-B/11) on Ellesmere Island and the Depot Point map area (NTS 049-G/7) on Axel Heiberg Island. These sections are subdivided in terms of established member and formation names based on previous mapping along the north-eastern margin of the Sverdrup Basin. The lowermost strata in the Heiberg Formation, the Romulus Member (510-575 m thick), is a coarsening-upward succession of mudstone to fine-grained sandstone from a prodelta to delta plain environment. A testing program was conducted to evaluate the effects of internal pressure during the installation of composite and steel sleeves repair systems on pipelines with plain dents. The testing program included cyclic pressure testing a group of 12.75-inch OD x 0.188-inch WT, Grade X42 pipe samples with plain dents having residual dent depths on the order of 3% to 4% of the pipe's outside diameter. The dent samples were repaired using four (4) different composite repair systems, type-A steel sleeves, and steel thermal compression sleeves. The composite repair systems included a carbon fiber wet-la

Preliminary mapping studies of Beechey Lake map area, through aerial photograph interpretation and limited legacy data, improve our understanding of surficial sediments and glacial history. The area is dominated by glacially and meltwater-scoured bedrock, hummocky moraine, till of varying thickness occasionally streamlined, and thin ridged till. Glacial lake sediments are predominantly in river valley lowlands. Glaciolacustrine delta and raised beach elevations range from 410 m to 230 m and 440 m to 290 m, respectively. Glaciofluvial deposits consist of eskers, ice-contact mounds, proglacial o

The Arctic Sound map area consists primarily of glacially scoured bedrock, minor till in the southwest, and postglacial marine sediments in coastal lowlands and inland along river valleys. The till deposits are cut to bedrock by subglacial meltwater corridors defined by eskers and other glaciofluvial sediments. Glacial lakes occupied the James River valley where retreating or stagnant ice blocked drainage to the east. Glaciolacustrine deltas record falling lake levels, from 310 m to 290 m and 260 m elevation. Striations and streamlined landforms indicate ice flow to the north-northwest, and la

The Tinney Hills map area consists primarily of glacially and meltwater scoured bedrock, discontinuous till in the southwest and central-east, and postglacial marine sediments in coastal lowlands and along river valleys inland. The boundaries of many till deposits are cut to bedrock by widespread subglacial meltwater erosion. Ridged till in particular, is often associated with eskers and other glaciofluvial sediments and meltwater erosion. Striations and streamlined till landforms indicate regional ice flow towards the north-northwest and northwest, and later crosscutting relationships recordi

The northeastern Cameron Hills comprise a Cretaceous bedrock upland, rising >550 m above the regional boreal plains. It was inundated by the Laurentide Ice Sheet and includes much of a prominent 60 by 20 km southwest-oriented mega-scale glacial lineation field, formed in thick till. Subsequent ice flow on northeast Cameron Hills occurred north to south, and a series of lobate and ice-thrust moraines suggest glacial surging. Rotational bedrock slumps cover the eastern and northern flanks of Cameron Hills, and extensive alluvial fan deposits draining from these slopes blanket the surr

Ice then converged between and south of these two highs, then diverged at the western end of these highlands.
