Full textAbstract This study involves the experiences of children and adolescents with regard to their participation in the Golden Life martial arts project of the Golden Leaf Sports Association. I have conducted qualitative research, in which I have randomly selected children and adolescents who have then participated in semi-structured interviews. The purpose of this study is to understand how children and adolescents experienced the martial arts project in the fall of 2017, and what happened to the participants after the project was over. The question of this paper thus becomes how the martial arts project served as an arena of socialization. The theory used is situational learning from Lave and Wenger (1991) in which social learning used in athletic contexts can be applied to people embracing instructions. Futhermore this theory relates to how physical activity in a social context facilitates learning. But also legitimate peripheral participation that deals with how to acquire knowledge where knowledge building is secondary to the ability to learn and acquiring knowledge in a group already established. In such a way, legitimacy is created and it is within this framework that one learns what is going to be performed. The result of this study is based on the respondents own stories, where an analysis is made in relation to the theory and, to a certain extent, the previous research relating to sport and integration in relation to the sociological process. The result from the gathering of the data also shows how there is a connection between what the interviewees described in relation to the theory of legitimate peripheral participation. The resemblance between how the excercise is described and the actual training is easily identified. The martial arts environment and the environment's structure of coaches and other members of the association can be clearly linked to the theory. Due to the association being open to other people, even if they do not belong to the regular business they do invite others for participation. This means that the participants feel welcome, which leads to the participation and learning of martial arts.

Full textBACKGROUND: Breastfeeding provides health benefits for children. In order tosucceed with breastfeeding, women need support from family and healthcareprofessionals, but their own coping strategies are crucial. Earlier studies highlight theneed for further development of breastfeeding education.DESIGN: A retrospective cross-sectional study with qualitative approach using openquestions to process the answers.METHOD: Between September 2012 and March 2014, 303 women responded toAmningshjälpen’s survey. All women had participated in breastfeeding education. The data was analysed with qualitative content analysis with an inductive approach.RESULTS: The result is presented as two themes and four subthemes withassociated categories. The first theme, “Strengthened self-esteem when breastfeedingworks, despite problems during breastfeeding”, with subthemes “Feeling pride fromsucceeding with breastfeeding” and “Solving breastfeeding problems”, described theexperiences of women who succeeded with breastfeeding. The second theme, “Lostself-esteem when breastfeeding is a constant struggle” with subthemes “Strugglingwith breastfeeding, leading to decommissioning” and “Experiencing crushedexpectations” described the experiences of women who were unsuccessful withbreastfeeding.CONCLUSION: Participating in the breastfeeding education helped many women.Recurrent breastfeeding problems lower the woman’s self-esteem. Nurses have animportant role in supporting women who breastfeed. Resources should be put intomaking sure that pediatric nurses’ education in breastfeeding is up to date, and thatthey have the ability to support women with breastfeeding problems

Full textThe purpose of this study is to examine how students with reading and writing disabilities experienced participation in intensive instruction in reading. Such an achievement means that students every day for 4-6 weeks is working about 20 minutes with structured teaching with the aim of developing their reading skills. The research about intensive instruction in reading coherently show that similar achievements are producing good results. In contrast, this research does not include how students experience intensive instruction. Therefore, I have chosen to examine some students' experiences of this and focused on the experience of working, the experience of their own reading development and how it is to leave the classroom to participate in intensive instruction. The study is based on qualitative interviews with six students in grade 4 who have participated in intensive instruction in reading. Each student was interviewed individually and their stories were then analysed based on a life-world phenomenological approach from a student perspective. The result shows that these students are positive towards working with intensive instruction in reading and experience themselves having developed their reading skills through it. They describe their own development in relation to the material they have worked with and what it has meant to them both in school and at home. The students mention both positive and negative experiences of leaving the classroom to participate in intensive instruction.

I studien ingick sju kvinnor.
