Full textThis works based thesis describes the itinerary of a professor-searcher-practitioner who has been involved since as soon as 1970 in two main fields : elaboration and support of strategic decision making in business start-up, development and reengineering on the one hand, and information systems on the other hand. A first part presents an epistemological reflection setting a parallel between : - the opposition positivism / constructivism on the one hand, - and two classes of cognitive interfaces of the firm : "describers" a paradigm of which consists of the accounting model, and "constructors" based upon interactive modellings enabling the entrepreneur-knowing-subject to simultaneously better perceiving, understanding, surrounding and transforming his firm-object, together with learning management, strategy and finance concepts. A second part presents various contributions covering : - research and development works on institutional environments and operational schemes for supporting entrepreneurs in its most general meaning (business starters, intrapreneurs, SME or profit center managers. . . ); - research and works on computer based modelling of new business financial strategy, difficulty and failure forecast, as well as on educational business simulations and computer based instruction; - conception and development of a software designed as a business "descriptor-constructor" (spreadsheet model, expert system, computer based trainer), representing an operationalization of the concepts discussed in the thesis. Keywords (alphabetic order) : budget forecast, business constructor, business describer, business diagnosis, business failure, business plan, business start-up, cognition, cognitive interface, computer based training, constructivism, entrepreneurship, epistemology, expert system, financial analysis, intrapreneurship, modelling, positivism, simulation, strategy, systemic analysis

Full textDespite the growing interest in international entrepreneurship and organizational entrepreneurship as new ways of thinking, academic research in both fields does not seem sufficiently emphasize the underlying processes and dynamics of the accelerated internationalization of SMEs and the formation of their entrepreneurial orientation (EO). This research aims to provide a systemic understanding of entrepreneurial processes of the SMEs by placing the logic of determining export opportunities at the heart of our thinking. The work will conclude by a qualitative model explaining the phenomenon in question. The first part of this thesis is devoted to the theoretical foundations of research, addressing key concepts of our conceptual framework. The second part addresses the problem of empirical research. After an initial work of contextualization, are presented and analyzed the results of a multiple case study, conducted in six young Moroccan exporting SMEs in the agro-industrial sector. The research highlights the internal vectors (knowledge, experience and social capital) and external constraints (nature of the activity and the local market characteristics) as determinants of the accelerated internationalization of young SMEs studied. More importantly, two different configurations of the EO dimensions are described in relation with two distinct logics of determining export opportunities (causal logic vs effectuale logic)

Full textIn France, micro-enterprises are considered as a sensitive and strategic leverage to local and national economic dynamism. They constitute an object of institutional policies that encourage entrepreneurs to create and develop business. Many of the research place competences amongst the key factors that determine the competitiveness of the organisation and that are, as a result, necessary for guaranteeing its long term sustainability or its development. This research aims to offer new insights to the key question of competence on the entrepreneurial development and new venture training. It had carried out a qualitative and longitudinal methodology to investigate, since five years, three dimensions of the concept: definition, evaluation approach and factors of development. The literature review concerned two theoretical fields: Human Resource Management and Entrepreneurship. The empirical investigation had carried out within the framework of two projects in Lorraine: the Lorrain Entrepreneurs' Club project (Club des Dirigeants Lorrains) and the HR Convergence project (Convergence RH). The results obtained relate, therefore to the development of a competences reference and an evaluation tool for use in training, through an interactive process. First, this study proposed a definition of the competences' entrepreneur. Secondly, it established and tested an approach adapted to assess them. Third, it suggested the factors to develop these competences. The thesis provides theoretical, methodological and managerial orientations to precise and clarify the concept of competence in the entrepreneurial research

Full textEntrepreneurship is a source of job creation and a major driver of economic development in our society. In this sense, the presence of women in business has become a concern of public policies in Quebec and Canada. Several levers have been adopted to stimulate entrepreneurship with the aim of increasing the number of women in business. However, despite these measures, women remain less likely than men to undertake such activities. Nevertheless, while women are under-represented in the entrepreneurial ecosystem, they show entrepreneurial intentions in encouraging proportions, which are close to the statistics observed for men. As a result, this suggests that a slowdown in their entrepreneurial momentum occurs once the start-up actions have been initiated. Through this research, we seek to understand factors influencing the entrepreneurial journey of women, from the first steps to the completion of their business project. Our study is part of the Schmitt’s Global Entrepreneurial Approach (3M Theory) (2017). The question we ask ourselves is: What factors explain the success of women’s entrepreneurship in Quebec? Through the qualitative analysis of 19 interviews conducted with two samples of women entrepreneurs, one group having experienced entrepreneurial success and one group having stopped their project, the study highlighted the influence of multiple factors on the entrepreneurial process and outcome. Our research highlights the major impact that the nature of project is likely to have in the choice to stop entrepreneurial approaches. Furthermore, the important role of the entrepreneur and her ecosystem in entrepreneurial success has also been observed. A typology of the different reasons for stopping entrepreneurial journeys has been developed and correlated with factors motivating that decision. In sum, the project will have made it possible to better understand the different realities experienced by women in all their complexity and suggest possible solutions to increase the presence of women in entrepreneurship in Quebec.
