Abstract:
This research investigates robust demodulation of Gaussian Minimum Shift Keying (GMSK) signals, using demodulator diversity and real-time bit-error-rate (BER) estimation. GMSK is particularly important because of its use in promi- nent wireless standards around the world (GSM, DECT, CDPD, DCS1800, and PCS1900). The dissertation begins with a literature review of GMSK demodu- lation techniques (coherent and noncoherent) and includes an overview of single- channel interference rejection techniques in digital wireless communications. New payload concepts of low cost earth stations for future mobile satellite communications can only be realised by using dedicated on-board processing satellites. This scheme allows mobile transmitters to transmit a narrow band, low power signal, resulting in smaller dishes and HPAs with lower output power. On the uplink, there are hundreds of FDM channels to be demodulated on-board. The most promising approach is the use of all-digital multicarrier demodulators (MCDs), where analogue a

The first parameter (aperture) is a function of the architecture, while the second (quantization noise), depends on the digital implementation [2] of demodulator. Unified representation of the demodulator architecture as a matrix to vector product with the subsequent choice of maximum energy term was used in this paper to model performance of the demodulator for constant-envelope signals such as Tier-0 (PCM/FM), Tier-I (BPSK, QPSK, OQPSK, SOQPSK), and Tier-II

Abstract:
International Telemetering Conference Proceedings / October 23-26, 2000 / Town & Country Hotel and Conference Center, San Diego, California
Binary PCM/FM has been widely adopted as a standard by the telemetry community. It offers a reasonable balance between detection efficiency and spectral efficiency, with very simple implementation in both the transmitter and receiver. Current technology, however, allows practical implementations of more sophisticated demodulators, which can substantially improve the detection efficiency of the waveform, with no changes to the modulator. This is accompli

For an experimental one-chip in-door cordless phone, the FM demodulator, limiting amplifier, signal-strength indicator and compander are presented. The carrier frequency of the FM signal is 125kHz before entering the FM demodulator, so a counter-type FM demodulator is used. The FM signal is transferred to PWM signal, then PWM signal passes through a low-pass filter for getting a message signal. The FM demodulator is belong dig

Abstract:
碩士
國立臺灣科技大學
光電工程研究所
99
Optical telecommunication systems have been developed in order to increase the capacity and the spectral efficiency in the past few years. Some advanced modulation formats based on on-off-keying (OOK) and differential phase shift keying (DPSK) have been proposed. The conventional OOK format leads to serious impairments, such as chromatic dispersion (CD), polarization mode dispersion (PMD) or nonlinearity effect, in a high-speed long-haul transmission system. DPSK system has been developed and experimentally demonstrated to improve the nonlinear effect. Since

Abstract:
This thesis provides analysis and modeling for one of the Micro-Eletro-Mechanical System (MEMS) electrostatic actuator that consists of a micro-plate at the end of a cantilever beam, and introduces different type of MEMS electrostatic actuator; a paddle structure, which is a micro-plate suspended by two cantilever beams on each side. An electrode plate is placed right under the micro-plate to apply an actuation voltage. A step-by-step analysis explains how to obtain each parameter used for the simulations. Static and dynamic models are presented with governing equations for the paddle-shaped M

Chen, Fei. "A CMOS QPSK Demodulator Frontend for GPON." Thesis, 2010. http://hdl.handle.net/1974/5910.

Abstract:
This thesis examines the design of a QPSK demodulator frontend for GPON transceiver at end user's side. Since lowering the cost of the terminal transceivers in an access network like GPON is a key requirement, CMOS technology is used and several area-saving design techniques are applied. The designed frontend circuit saved more than 80% area of the key components like the mixers and the QVCO than some published designs which can also fit the application. A measurement in frequency domain and a simulation in time domain verified that this frontend is able to demodulate a QPSK signal with a data
