Full textI denna studie har syftet varit att ta reda på Hur nya lärare upplever den första tiden i yrket. Syftet utvecklades till specifika frågeställningar kring mentorskap, föräldrakontakt, administrativt arbete, påverkan från kollegor och ledning samt krav och förväntningar. Med insikt kring dessa områden ville vi skapa en ökad trygghet och förståelse för vår första tid som lärare.
Studien byggde på en enkätundersökning som besvarades av 32 lärare och 11 skolledare. Enkäterna vi distribuerade bestod av givna svarsalternativ men med möjlighet till förtydligande i form av personliga kommentarer, d.v.s. en kombinerad kvantitativ och kvalitativ undersökningsmetod.
Resultatet av undersökningen visade att mentorskap inte är någon vanlig form av stöd och introduktion för nya lärare. I de flesta fall får däremot nya lärare stöd av hjälpsamma kollegor eller ett välvilligt arbetslag. Nya lärare behöver mer kunskap om föräldrakontakt. De anser sig ha haft goda kunskaper kring det administrativa arbetet då de började. Som ny lärare blir man väl bemött av sina kollegor. Skolledarna anser att social kompetens är ett av de mest primära kraven vid nyanställning.

Full textBackground: Despite the fact that approximately 4,400 new nurses are examined annually, the need for them continues to increase. Factors that a rapid development of care has changed the conditions for nursing have placed higher demands on the nurses' knowledge. It has been shown that students in semester six have lacked knowledge prior to their academic degree. Aim: The aim of the present study was to describe newly graduated nurses’ experiences during their first time in practice. Method: A literature study of descriptive design which was based on 13 scientific articles. Main result: The results of the articles gave five themes which were; to be prepared for their new professional role, supervision / introduction, relationships in the professional role, work environment and to grow into their professional role. The results showed that the transition from school to working life was experienced as difficult. They were unprepared for all responsibility and had a great need for support at first. Good relationships with colleagues provided security and favored development, while bad relationships were perceived as frightening. Workload and stress initially gave insecurity, which they eventually learned to deal with. Conclusion: The results showed that the transition from school to working life was difficult. Factors such as too little support, high workload and poor relationships with colleagues were negative for their development. Good support and guidance, positive relationships with colleagues gave them better experiences, which benefited their future development. If the experiences in this literature study are noticed, it can both generate more and better research in the field, but it can also be useful for managers and other experienced staff so that improvements can be made on site where there are shortcomings.

Full textBackground: The nursing education generates both a professional and an academic degree. The work as a nurse is complex. Earlier studies revealed that new graduate nurses felt that they had not been adequately trained for what would be required of them in their future profession. The Swedish National Board of Health and Welfare has revealed that there is a lack of clear guidelines for what is expected of a new graduate nurse upon completion of education. Aim: To uncover new graduate nurses’ experiences of the initial period in the profession. Method: A literature review. The databases PubMed, Cinahl and PsycINFO were used for the literature searches, which resulted in 15 selected articles. The articles were reviewed, analysed and compiled. Result: The new graduate nurses felt unprepared to carry out their occupation. There was a gap between education and the real world. It was furthermore shown that new graduate nurses felt that they had a big responsibility, which was both tough and scary. The need for support was found to be important during the first period on the job. New graduate nurses experienced a feeling of low self-esteem when they started working after graduation. There was a fear of making mistakes that would harm a patient. Conclusion: There were factors that could facilitate the realisation of the profession and factors that made it more difficult. Facilitating factors included good relations with colleagues, getting support and a sense of development. Aggravating factors were described as unpreparedness, lack of experience and support as well as fear. It was furthermore shown that new graduate nurses felt that there was an obvious difference between education and reality.

Full textThe first time in working life can be experienced as challenging for the newly graduated nurse. Therefore, it is of great importance that the right prerequisites are provided to the newly graduated nurse by the healthcare, in order to give good care for the patient. Aim: The aim was to illustrate newly graduated nurses' experiences of the first time in the profession. Method: A literature study was conducted with an inductive approach based on ten scientific articles, four quantitative, five qualitative and one with a mixed method. The result articles were based on a content analysis. Result: Data processing resulted in four categories: the importance of a supportive transition into the professional role, the importance of the work climate during the first period in the profession, the value of competence development for the professional role and basic resources for good nursing. The results showed that the newly graduated nurse was in need of a better work climate, more support during the transition and more resources to be able to develop skills and conduct the work with high quality. Conclusion: Continuity and availability of managers and colleagues as well as support in the form of support-programs prevented the transition to become overwhelming for the newly graduated nurses and contributed to a better quality of care for the patient.

Full textIntroduction In 2016, the National Agency for Education issued new sections in elementary school curricula. Among other things, assignments and purposes were clarified for teachers in the extended school. The amendments take an effect on the first of July of the same year. By these changes the role and status should be improved for the teachers, by giving them more time to the extended school. Purpose The purpose of this survey is to find out if teachers in the extended school consider that their daily work has changed since the new sections of the curriculum came out, to see how the implementation of the section paragraphs has worked and will continue to work, as well as to investigate how teachers in the extended school, if their status has increased or decreased compared with previous years. Method We used a quantitative method through a survey, there were 324 replies. Results What emerges from our results is that the status is perceived to increase slowly but surely. In order to strengthen the profession, more planning time, higher pay and better insight into the activities of colleagues and principals / mandator are needed. What is also evident is that teachers in the extended school have a variety of assignments during the school day, but more time would be needed for the extended school to complete the new chapter of the curriculum. Conclusion There is still not enough time for the extended school activities. We also think that the status is going in a positive direction.

Full textSyftet med detta arbete är att ta del av hur nyutbildade lärare erfarit sin första tid i yrket. Jag har också varit intresserad av att synliggöra om de nya lärarna är nöjda med den introduktion de fått och om de fått något mentorsstöd. Lärarutbildningens nytta i deras arbete är en annan aspekt som studeras.I arbetet har jag valt att använda mig av två metoder, dels en litteraturstudie och dels en kvalitativ intervjustudie av sex nyutbildade lärare. Denna studie sträcker sig över ett brett spann då deltagarna arbetat allt från tre månader till tre och ett halvt år. Resultatet visar att de flesta lärare i intervjustudien har upplevt det första året som mycket påfrestande. Men redan i slutet av den andra terminen har situationen förbättrats och de har känt sig tryggare i sin lärarroll. Dåhar de lärt känna eleverna, kollegerna och lokalerna samt upplevt en större säkerhet i undervisningen.
