Abstract:
Passing Grades are often used as a benchmark for opportunities or considerations of graduation to college. And from the passing grade, we can also see the level of graduation to the state higher education study program, because if the passing grade is higher then the graduation level of the study program is lower and vice versa, if the passing grade is getting lower then the higher the level of graduation to the study program . The problem that occurs is the knowledge of the passing grade, because every student does not know about the passing grade of each major at a state tertiary institution in Indonesia. Which will make students / i will be hesitant and hesitant to choose majors and colleges that have the opportunity and ability of students to achieve majors and colleges that students want. Based on the above problems will be solved using the string maching algorithm, the zhu takaoka algorithm. Which will do the character or criteria matching and will bring up output that has the same or matching. In addition this research is based on Android, which will enable its use to be faster, easier and efficient.

Full text
Abstract:
As a society, we seek to have our young people, including the gifted, be healthy and happy, and go to good schools with good teachers. Framed by Sayler's theoretical model of giftedness and thriving, this study examined psychological constructs (i.e. general self-efficacy, theories of intelligence, hope, gratitude, religiosity, disposition, and resiliency) to determine their mediating effect on personal well-being and academic success in gifted college students. The 213 subjects for this study included gifted college students from two distinct programs at the University of North Texas. One hundred twenty-two participants were students from the Texas Academy of Mathematics and Science (TAMS). TAMS is an early-college entrance program allowing gifted students to enter college after their sophomore year of high school. Ninety-one participants attended the UNT Honors College. Honors College students are gifted students who enter college after high school graduation. Latent transition, latent class, general linear model repeated measures, and regression analyses were used in the examination of the data. Results of the study revealed that positive disposition and hope-agency were significantly related to the development of personal well-being for gifted students during their first year of college. The ability to identify pathways to goals and the self-theory of intelligence as a fixed trait were significantly related to academic success during the first year at college. Knowledge of psychological constructs that are facilitative of the positive personal well-being and academic achievement helps parents, teachers, administrators, and counselors prepare gifted students for success in college.

Armstrong, Jami J. (Jami Joi). "Factors Influencing Freshmen Students' College Choice at the University of North Texas: a Focus Group Study." Thesis, University of North Texas, 1997. https://digital.library.unt.edu/ark:/67531/metadc278714/.

Full text
Abstract:
This study focused on factors that may influence freshmen students when choosing their colleges, specifically those who attend metropolitan universities such as the University of North Texas. In addition to identifying major characteristics of the institution that attract students, it also explored the sources of information that students considered important when making their choice about where to attend college. The primary instrument for gathering the data was focus groups. These informal, small groups provided a format for in-depth discussion and probing questioning about the needs, wants and influential factors driving freshmen college choice. Ten focus groups were held with between six and ten students in a specially designed room on the campus of the University of North Texas. A professional moderator was employed and sessions were observed via a two-way mirror and tape recorded for later transcription. The major questions addressed in the focus groups included: What factors influenced students the most to attend the University of North Texas? What did they consider the level of friendliness on campus? And how did the marketing materials that the university distributed impact their decision to attend? The study found that the factors that most influenced freshmen to attend the University of North Texas were low cost, convenient location and the good academic reputation of their field of study. Students believed North Texas to have a very friendly campus and were pleased with the overall academic environment. They were not, however, impressed or greatly influenced by the marketing materials currently being used by the University and suggested ways to improve the design and distribution of these materials to make them more effective. Additional observations were made concerning these and related questions. A partial transcription of the focus group sessions is included.

Abstract:
Introduction: The self-adhesive resin cements have been introduced to the market in order to reduce the clinical steps and, thus, reducing the operative time and sensitivity. Although the concept of one-step applying be very attractive, some studies show limitations of resin cements concerning the potential of demineralization and superficial interaction with the dentin. Objective: To evaluate the effect of removing dentin collagen with 5% NaOCl on the bond strength of resin cements/dentin interface. Methods: Thirty-two freshly extracted third molars were sliced to expose sound dentin, to remove the roots and were randomly divided into four groups according to the type of cement used (conventional or self-adhesive) and strategy of cementing used: RelyX ARC/Single Bond 2 applied following the manufacturerÂs instructions â control (RAc), RelyX ARC/Single Bond 2 applied on deproteinized dentin (RAd); RelyX U200 applied following the manufacturerÂs instructions â control (RUc); RelyX U200 applied on deproteinized dentin (RUd). Blocks of composite resin were cemented on dentin surface and the specimens were prepared for microtensile bond test. The sticks of each group were subdivided into two subgroups: immediate test and test after 20,000 thermal cycles. Results: Three-way Anova showed that collagen removal increased the bond strength values for both cements, although the RAd group showed a decrease in the bond strength values after thermocycling. Chi-square test showed significant increase of premature failures for the groups, except for the group of RUd. Conclusion: The collagen removal improved the immediate bond strength for both cements tested, but, after thermocycling, this union was preserved only in the RelyX U200 group.

Abstract:
Community colleges have played a significant role in the strength of America's workforce for over a century. Throughout the past one hundred years, the two-year college system has evolved into a significant contributor for economic strength and growth. The purpose of this chapter is to provide a historical analysis of the modern community college. In doing so, the reader will have a clear understanding of why and how a contemporary community college came into existence, as well as causal factors to its success. Following the historical analysis, this chapter will discuss the creation of a dental hygiene program at a rural two-year college. The intent is to give this chapter's reader insight to the process by which a community college creates workforce-based programming.

Abstract:
Dentin is one of the major hard tissues of the teeth. Dentin is similar to bone in texture, but it is different from bone tissue histologically. It is formed by odontoblasts; however, these cells are present in a limited area in the human body and are not found anywhere other than the dental pulp. It is difficult to collect and proliferate mature odontoblasts for regenerative medicine. However, odontoblast are necessary for regenerating dentin. It is known that odontoblasts differentiate from mesenchymal stem cells in the dental pulp during tooth development. Dentin can be generated using the stem cells present in the pulp. Many stem cells are recruited from the bone marrow to the teeth, and it is possible that the stem cells present in the pulp are also supplied from the bone marrow. Herein, we explain the mechanism of stem cell supply to the teeth and the possibility of dentin regeneration by specific cell differentiation induction methods.

Abstract:
In response to various institutional and national policy drivers (University College Cork, 2018; Department of Health, 2019), a community-based dental education (CBDE) initiative in a non-dental setting has been proposed as a new curriculum offering in Paediatric Dentistry in University College Cork. The student-led clinic for children aged 0-5 years will be located in a new primary healthcare centre, which serves as a community hub for health and wellbeing services. The innovative use of learning spaces to imbue a culture of community-engaged scholarship in higher education is widely encouraged (Campus Engage, 2014; Galvin, O’Mahony, Powell & Neville, 2017). This work seeks to explore the features of the proposed learning environment, which may impact upon teaching and learning practice.

Abstract:
In this paper we will show how the COVID-19 pandemic has affected one of the sectors that have undergone a booming development in recent years, namely the sector of dental medicine. This is an industry that includes numerous and diversified activities: treatments and surgical interventions in dental practices and clinics, dental aesthetics interventions in luxury clinics, the organization of specialization courses, conferences and congresses, the development of extremely innovative procedures and materials. Dental tourism has also had a spectacular trend, especially in Eastern European countries. Within a very short period of time, this highly profitable field, but which presents a huge risk of transmitting potential viruses, has recorded significant financial losses. In March 2020, in some European countries a lockdown was imposed by governmental decree or ordinance, all private practices having ceased their activity, whereas in other countries a significant number of clinics closed on their own initiative, and those remaining open recorded a staggering decrease in the number of patients. Courses, conferences, and congresses have been cancelled one after another throughout Europe. As a result of the cancellation of many flights, the activity in the branch of dental tourism has ceased almost entirely. For two months, an extremely small number of medical units, especially hospitals, were reorganized to provide care in dental emergencies, according to a very strict protocol to limit the risk of contamination. In view of resuming their activity as of May, professionals in the sector had to meet several severe protection conditions, regulated by institutional documents by the National Orders/Colleges of Dentists. In October, in the face of the second wave of the pandemic, the governments of European countries took less restrictive measures in an attempt to avoid a new lockdown and the decrease in the supply of goods and services to the population to such a great extent, so this time, governments have not closed private practices, despite the fact that in some countries the beginning of November has brought about a new isolation – albeit a partial one – and a renewed closedown of some businesses. We will analyze, in the context of the ongoing pandemic, the situation of this sector in several European countries. Given that the demand for dental services has only decreased very little, professionals in the sector have tried in various ways to continue their work so as not to sacrifice the dental health of the population. The risk/benefit ratio is very hard to manage in this field, so precautions, prevention, and protection measures in dental practices remain of the utmost importance. If the branch of organization of courses, conferences, congresses can compensate to a certain extent the sharp decline in revenues during the lockdown period by moving the activity on online platforms, the branch of dental tourism is still suffering massively, and the possibilities of recovery are greatly reduced. Dentists remain the most exposed to risks. They are facing medical and financial concerns and have to make final treatment decisions amidst an uncertain and dangerous situation

Abstract:
Dentin and bone are formed when odontoblasts and osteoblasts synthesize and secrete collagen type I-rich extracellular matrix that mineralizes in a highly controlled manner. A wide spectrum of mouse and human disorders affecting tooth and bone biomineralization shows that dentin and bone formation are under strict genetic control. Although the controlling mechanisms of dentinogenesis and osteogenesis require further study, a large body of evidence points to the importance of the matrix metalloproteinases (MMPs) participate in a wide variety of extracellular matrix degradation. Detailed knowledge of MMPs may be important for understanding the pathogenesis of tooth development. Some researchers have pointed MMP-9 is an extracelluar proteinase that is highly expressed in osteoclasts and has been postulated to play an important role in their resorptive activity. Although MMP-9 has been reported to play a role in bone resorption, the association of this enzyme during deciduous tooth resorption has not yet been clarified. Based on accumulating evidence, we hypothesized that MMP-9 should play a role in teeth attrition. In this study, we have applied NMR relaxation technique to assess age-related MMP-9 KO tooth quality in vitro by quantifying changes in dentin and pulp simultaneously. The major hypothesis in this paper was that whether noninvasive NMR relaxation time measurements could be used to characterize MMP-9 KO changes in dentin and pulp, and to predict tooth quality. Specifically, we tested that age-related MMP-9 KO tooth changes result in an alteration of the NMR spin-spin (T2) relaxation time signal due to the structural changes in the tooth matrix. This signal can be further processed to produce a T2 relaxation distribution spectrum related to dentin and pulp, and their derived parameters can be used as descriptors of age-related MMP-9 KO tooth changes. In this study, the proton liquid-like NMR spin-spin (T2) relaxation decay signal was obtained from the Carr-Purcell-Meiboom-Gill (CPMG) NMR spin echo train method [1,2], then the relaxation decay signal was converted to T2 relaxation distribution spectra describing the size domain of dentin and pulp. Therefore, we can calibrate the intensities in NMR inversion T2 relaxation distribution spectra corresponding to the amount of dentin and pulp related to the structural changes. Here, we propose an NMR calibration method “NMR standard estimation” — the ratio of the amount of pulp to the amount of dentin obtained from NMR T2 distribution spectra that can be used to measure the age-related MMP-9 KO structural changes in teeth [3]. We are cognizant of the biological and physiological variability manifest in teeth size variations, but feel that this kind of NMR standard estimation — the ratio of amount of dentin to amount of pulp from the NMR T2 inversion spectrum can be used to determine age-related MMP-9 KO structural changes in teeth and eliminate any variations in size of teeth.
