Abstract:
ENGELSK ABSTRACT: Mikkel Rytter: The Limit of Spouse Selection: Danish-Pakistani Marriage-migrants in Sweden In 2002 the Danish Parliament introduced a new legislation in order to hamper the practice of family reunification from non-European countries. Since then hundreds of people have been denied reunification with their foreign spouses. As a solution Danish citizens move to Sweden where they are entitled to obtain family reunification as members of the European Union. Migrants from Pakistan have been particularly affected by the new law, since the majority used to find their spouses in Pakistan. Based on ethnographic material gathered among marriage-migrants in Sweden, this article discusses the consequences of the recent legislation for marriage patterns and family organisation among Pakistanis in Denmark. The first part outlines two conflicting marriage preferences that young Danish-Pakistanis are confronted with: on the one hand by their local and transnational family and on the other by the nation-state. The clash of marriage preferences constitutes a “vital conjuncture“ that offers the youngsters different life trajectories and horizons for the future. The second part of the article illustrates some of the strategies marriage-migrants use to handle transnational family- and everyday life stretched out between Denmark and Sweden. Key words: Family reunification, marriage-migrants, arranged marriages, transnational everyday life, semi-legality.

Abstract:
The object of this research is the foreign policy of Denmark in the 1980s. The subject of this research on the one hand is the ideological foundations of Denmark's foreign policy during this period, which were strongly affected by the ideas of European social democracy, and on the other hand – the influence of the Danish Parliament (Folketing) upon the formation of Denmark’s official position on the issues of European security discussed within the framework of NATO. Denmark’s refutation of neutrality after the World War II and its entry into NATO in many ways determined the foreign policy position of Denmark throughout the Cold War as a small European state that perceived the Soviet Union as a threat to national security. At the same time, the desire of Denmark of maintain maximum flexibility and avoid making far-reaching commitments within the framework of NATO, led to the fact that Denmark was often perceived as an unreliable and inconvenient ally. The period from 1982 to 1988 indicates the Atlantic dissidence of Denmark and simultaneous improvement of relations with the Soviet Union), when Denmark’s representatives in the NATO sessions, being obliged to take into account the position of the parliamentary majority in the Folketing, were forced to make reservations to the final documents of the sessions, expressing disagreement or criticism of implemented measures. Among the Russian scholars dealing with the history of Denmark, this period has not yet received wide coverage. This article is an attempt to describe and explain the causes and consequences of the period of the “policy of reservations” for Denmark’s foreign policy in the context of the end of Cold War and in the conditions of transition towards the post-bipolar system of international relations.

In 1997, the Danish Folketing made a grant of 200 million Danish kroner, the DEF grant, to upgrade IT facilities in research libraries throughout the country and help create Denmark’s Electronic Research Library. Most of the money was assigned to the major research libraries, but funds were also made available to some medium-sized libraries, among which was the National Art and Design Library in the Danish Museum of Decorative Art in Copenhagen.

Abstract:
The Ombudsman as a state institution has the duty to oversee the administration of the state, particularly in public services in order to realize good governance. Therefore the institution is demanded to be independent and impartial to other state institutions. In addition, the presence of the Ombudsman becomes a manifestation of legal protection for the community in the event of maladmnistration conducted by the apparatus/state officials in using their authority. The birth of the Ombudsman is inseparable from history in Scandinavian countries, including in Denmark. The Danish Ombudsman, known as the Folketingets Ombudsmand, has become one of the most important institutions in the state system there. While in Indonesia, its position has received less attention. This difference makes the writer interested to compare it. The approach used in this paper uses a micro-type body of norm approach, which is a legal comparison that uses the Act as the basis for comparison, which is used is Act Number 37 of 2008 concerning the Ombudsman of the Republic of Indonesia compared to the Danish Ombudsman Act. Whereas the legal comparison method uses analytical method. The result of this research is to reconstruct the law in Law Number 37 Year 2008 concerning the Ombudsman of the Republic of Indonesia by adopting from what is in the Danish Ombudsman Act. the hope is that the existence of ORI is so respected and recommendations from ORI are not merely morally binding but are legally binding.

Abstract:
Denmark was among the first countries to achieve female enfranchisement to the national parliament (1915) and it is a society with a long tradition for gender equality policies and women’s rights. 100 years later, the Danish case gives grounds for reflections on gender balance, on segregation and positions occupied by women in national parliaments. Drawing on insights from literature on gender and politics and on parliamentary committees, the article asks what the gendered distribution of seats and chairs is in the Danish parliament, the Folketing, and what can explain these gendered patterns. To answer these questions, this article investigates the horizontal and vertical gendered segregation of standing parliamentary committees of the Danish parliament 1990-2015 based on an explorative, longitudinal study. The results show that the Danish parliament is characterized by both vertical and horizontal segregation in relation to parliamentary committees. Both categories of segregation are declining over time, but the analysis reveals interesting patterns of change and stability especially for the horizontal segregation. Several committees have an over-representation (social, education and research and health) and under-representation of women (defence, finance and transport). A number of committees are characterized by a share of 30-40% women. This category is especially interesting as it points towards a decline in horizontal representation.

Abstract:
THE RESULT OF THE DANISH PARLIAMENTARY ELECTION OF 11 MARCH 1998 could hardly have been closer. It came down to 89 voters in the Faroes: had this number voted for the local centre-right party, rather than the centre-left one, both of the islands' two seats in the Danish Folketing (parliament) would have gone to supporters of the opposition, thus tipping the parliamentary balance. However, because the sister party of the Danish Social Democrats won one of those seats, the incumbent prime minister, Poul Nyrup Rasmussen, managed to confound the predictions of the opinion polls and stay in power, continuing his Social Democrats' coalition with the Social Liberal Party. It remained a minority government; but this is the norm in Denmark's fragmented multi-party system. Moreover, with the presumed support of the parties to the left of the Social Democrats, and with other parties also professing their keenness to cooperate, the chances of a stable government enduring through the rest of the four-year parliamentary term looked bright.

Abstract:
From the best interest of the child to equality - a queer-theoretical analysis of Danish parliamentary debates on artificial insemination. This article presents an examination of the proceedings in the Danish Parliament regarding lesbian and single women's right to medically assisted artificial insemination. In 1996-1997 the Danish Parliament passed legislation banning doctors in Denmark to inseminate women who were not married or in relationship resembling a marriage. This limitation was abrogated by the Parliament in 2005-2006. Through discourse analyses inspired by queer theory I shall examine how such a limitation could be imposed in 1996 and then be abrogated a decade later. In 2006 the pro-discourse used a discursive strategy that equated lesbian parenting with heterosexual parenting, hereby dissolving the destabilizing and queer potential of the lesbian family. The pro-discourse succeeded in uniting several different discourses in the nodal point Equal Rights. However, as my queer analyses will show, the equal rights do not come for free. First of all, the queer identities that cannot exist within heterosexual institutions such as marriage and parenthood are excluded. Secondly, the discursive representation of lesbian parenting is transformed into a symbolic heterosexual formation that supports heteronormative.
