The Chinese economy has seen an increase in recent decades, also motivated by the increase in consumption by the general population. This growth in national wealth has led to an environment more conducive to national investment, which translates into improvement and the search for quality of life. In this panorama, the evolution of the services sector and in particular of medicine and the dental industry stands out. In this context, this TFM intends to contribute to a better knowledge of this sector in China, through a proposed Marketing Plan for Malo Clinic, a company that is a reference brand in its sector, in the international panorama. For the elaboration of the project, a mixed methodology was used, that is, it was used descriptive-explanatory research methods, which allowed the authorization of both qualitative and quantitative information. In this context, an online survey was applied, with the objective of obtaining information regarding the buying behavior of consumers in the oral health sector in China. The structure of the Marketing Plan follows the reference framework presented in this project. Based on the data collected, proposing actions within the scope of the Marketing Mix, whose main purpose would be to achieve the goals for the brand, that is, increase the number of followers on the social networks Weibo and Taobao to 10,000, increase the frequency of reading from articles in Wechat to the measures of 1000, and improve financial results by increasing the annual yield by 10%.

Periodontal infection can manifest itself in many different clinical presentations. The aggressive form of this disease is frequently seen in the younger patient population referred for treatment to the Temple University Kornberg School of Dentistry (TUKSD). This study was done to assess the demographics of aggressive periodontitis cases and the types of periodontal treatment methods provided to these patients, antibiotic prescription patterns and compliance with treatment. A chart review was conducted to identify cases of aggressive periodontitis in patients <30 years of age referred for treatment at the Graduate Periodontology and Oral Implantology Clinic, TUKSD. The diagnosis of aggressive periodontitis was validated by presence of characteristic radiographic bone loss at permanent incisors and molars. Exclusion criteria were deficient radiographs, and a medical history of systemic diseases that compromise the immune response. Twenty-two aggressive periodontitis cases were identified among 300 charts surveyed. All patients were 12-26 years old. The patient sample was comprised mainly of African American race-ethnicity, with no predominance of a sex group. Initial treatment with scaling and root planing, was done in 64% of cases with 36% dropout before treatment. Microbial plaque testing was done in 46% of cases, and 59% received systemic antibiotics. A combination antibiotic therapy regimen was often used in combination with nonsurgical periodontal therapy. Most patients did not present for treatment beyond the non-surgical phase, and some even before the treatment started. Because periodontal non-surgical treatment of aggressive periodontitis cases in the pre-doctoral clinic takes relatively long time, it is recommended that the treatment of these cases be expedited by referring the patients to the graduate clinic for all periodontal treatment including the initial phase.

Mahgoub, Ahmed Elsheikh Omer. "The comparison of two doses of intranasal midazolam sedation in a paediatric dental emergency clinic." Thesis, University of Western Cape, 2011. http://hdl.handle.net/11394/3534.
Full textThe aim of the study was to compare two doses of intranasal midazolam (INM) 0.3 mg/kg and 0.5 mg/kg in terms of effectiveness and recovery time. Design:-This study was a Randomized Controlled Trial (RCT) and Triple blinded study. Sample and methods A sample of one hundred and eighteen children aged from 4-6 years old were randomly assigned for Intranasal sedation (INS) to either the 0.3 mg/kg group or the 0.5 mg/kg group. Children were taken in fasting and non-fasting conditions. The children were monitored using a pulse-oximeter, the sedation was assessed using Wilson sedation scale and the anxiety and behaviour scales were rated by Venham’s scale throughout the treatment. The facial image Scale (FIS) was also used to assess anxiety and mood of children before and after treatment. Results The mean BMI of children was found to be from 14-16. Intranasal sedation with both 0.3 mg/kg and 0.5 mg/kg midazolam was completed in 100% of the children. The pulse rates were within normal limit but statistically lower in the 0.5 mg/kg group. Oxygen saturation was above 98% in all except for one child who desaturated to 90%. Thirty five percent found this route acceptable in this study; Nine percent had burning sensation from midazolam. The state anxiety between the two groups of 0.3 mg/kg and 0.5 mg/kg were insignificant using Venham’s scale. However, behaviour scores showed statistical significant results of p value (0.03) and (0.04) in the behaviour during LA and behaviour during extractions respectively. The facial images scale (FIS) ratings chosen by the children before and after sedation was insignificant to the anxiety and behaviour ratings. The FIS revealed that 66% chose a happy face at the end of treatment. Fifty percent of the children in the study chose the same image before and after sedation. There were no adverse events encountered during the procedure. Conclusion INS with midazolam using the 0.3 mg/kg or 0.5 mg/kg doses resulted in safe and effective sedation. The 0.5 mg/kg proved to be more effective than the 0.3 mg/kg in providing better behaviour and decreasing anxiety when compared with the 0.3 mg/kg dose. The 0.5 mg/kg dose was found to be safe and the recovery time was slightly more than the 0.3 mg/kg but the difference was not clinically significant.

Full textHIV/AIDS remains a global health problem. Orofacial manifestations of HIV/AIDS have been found to be among the first signs of immune suppression and have been used in the clini-cal staging of the disease. Infants and children are prone to opportunistic infections because of the immature immune system. Orofacial manifestations of HIV can therefore be used to predict prog-nosis and progression of infection. The introduction of highly active anti-retroviral therapy (HAART) has since seen a decline in the development of opportunistic infections and HIV-related orofacial manifestations.

Of late, consumers are placing increasing emphasis on healthcare quality, focusing not only on the professional quality of practitioners, but also on clinical environments, assistant attitudes, waiting time, and price. Compared to other fields in the medical industry, dentistry is a specific field that caters only to dental issues. Therefore, the operating scale and personnel numbers of most dental clinics are much smaller than the average hospital. However, in recent years, many dental clinics are expanding in an effort to achieve scales of economy and brand recognition; some dental clinics are even developing into franchises. Under these circumstances, the consistency of clinical environments, dentist quality, and service quality at each clinic within the franchise is of high importance, and consumer satisfaction can be considered an indicator of said consistency. This study analyzes three years of consumer satisfaction survey results taken from Tung Chun United Dental Clinics. Analysis results showed that the proportion of female patients was higher than male patients, and that the proportion of returning patients was higher than new patients; practitioner technique, service quality, and location were three of the main reasons given for visiting the clinics; patients were satisfied with practitioner quality at the Tung Chun United Dental Clinics, but were dissatisfied with waiting time and price; in terms of additional services, patients were only shown to be familiar with appointment cards and reminder texts. In accordance with the results shown above, Tung Chun United Dental Clinics implemented a number of improvements in hopes of enhancing service quality and patient satisfaction, including the purchase of relevant equipment, providing patients with differing treatment options with various prices, and increasing the broadcast frequency of educational videos.

Because medical resources are limited, the competition in the medical industry is violent day by day. Take dentist's clinic industry as an example, it can be regular that its service is produced, patient's demand change , the demand is produced and can be left unused while smaller than supplying, the demand has the situation that production can be insufficient again while exceeding supply, so use reservation system in order to arrange resource distribution. Come as judging criterions, carrying out the arrangement of making an appointment with personnel's experience traditionally, may not necessarily make operators, clinic of dentist, obtain heavy income by resource distribution optimization. It’s also unable to do customer segmentations, in order to offer different service. The purpose of this thesis is to use Data Mining methods to do customer segmentations, and find out Markov Chain transfer matrix. It combines Yield Management and Markov Chain to construct reservation models. The results of this study indicate that use K-mean method with sequence of the unit time revenue, which can lead extremely good performance in both respects of revenue and efficiency. Use to offer operator's reference, while the customer hives off to carry out, and plan the arrangement, carry on patients of the clinic to a dentist.

Because of rising general incomes in recent years, Taiwan’s health expenditure also increases. The public asks for evident effects of the treatment, comfortable medical environment, fine service quality, friendly service attitudes, etc. accordingly On the other hand, Taiwanese Government enforces “global budget system” for National Health Insurance Act, which draws up the maximum expenditure of next year’s National Health Insurance and arouses more intense competition among medical institutes. Therefore, the operators of these medical institutes manage to fulfill their patients’ demands; in this way, their patients will stick to their medical institutes. In light of this phenomenon, this study discusses and compares the difference of key factors when the public chooses clinics. This study investigates primary care clinics and dental clinics, both of which the public visits the most frequently and the number overpasses that of all the primary medical institutes by over 50%. In addition, the public in Taiwan gradually accepts cosmetic surgery in recent years, and the government also regards medical cosmetology as one of the important items in promoting health industry internationalization; seeing the potential of medical cosmetology, we take cosmetic medical treatment clinics into this study’s investigation subjects too. We collected 31 factors among abroad and domestic literary review about the public’s choice of medical institutes and satisfaction degree of the medical treatment. We classified these 31 factors into three groups: before, during, and after the medical treatment. We further combined related factors into 25 factors, and extracted 17 key factors when the public chooses primary care clinics, dental clinics, and cosmetic medical treatment clinics by means of grey relational analysis. There are four factors classified into before medical treatment group: dental clinics: the professional background of the dentists, previous experiences in the dental clinic; cosmetic medical treatment clinics: the professional background of the doctors, the evaluation of the cosmetic medical treatment clinic. There are ten factors classified into during medical treatment group: primary care clinics: the doctors’ techniques, doctors’ explanation before treatment, nurses’ service attitudes, doctors’ service attitudes; dental clinics: the doctors’ techniques, nurses’ service attitudes, doctors’ service attitudes; cosmetic medical treatment clinics: the doctors’ techniques, doctors’ explanation before treatment, concealment of the treatment spaces. There are three factors classified into after medical treatment group: primary care clinics: the effects of the treatment; dental clinics: the effects of the treatment; cosmetic medical treatment: the effects of the treatment. At the end, we compared the difference between the three kinds of clinics, and offered our advices about how the operators of these three kinds of clinics can manage their clinics based on each key factor. Key Words: choices of medical institutes, primary care clinics, dentists, cosmetic medical treatment clinics, grey relational analysis.

英文摘要 Because of the influence of the total budget method in National Health Insurance Bureau. Dentist seems has the medallion in operation with self-owned dental clinic. That caused the vigorous competition between clinics and triggers the Merger and Acquisition, stock option for the smart employee…etc, almost all like those of business hence thirsty of the Dental clinic Valuation. This thesis presents the valuation process : background of the business, go through the bibliography, available approaches and why the Free Cash Flow method and Excess Earnings Cash Flow method are the better methods selected. Besides the detailed explanation, there are still some discussions about limitations、defects and contributions in this article by actually sold The K.D dental clinic as an example. The intangible reputation in dental clinic valuation is the most important factor and it is also difficult to calculate by objective data. The comparison between customary method (estimate the dental clinic value by the number of dental chairs) and the methods offered here is proved that the latter at least can figure out intangible value according to real financial data and get higher valuation. Hope this paper can play as a role as a basic reference of dental clinic valuation .

The objectives of this study is to measure the air concentration of volatile organic compounds(VOCS) during dental service and evaluate the influences of indoor air quality (IAQ) human health. The widespread uses of VOC’s in prosthodontic dentistry were selected as our study subjects. The IAQ was measured by automatic sampling method (ASM).The measured items consist of CO、CO2、PM10、temperature (T)、wind speed (V) and indoor RH. Meanwhile, the multi-point sampling with indoor average points of HCHO、CO2 and TVOC. And the sampling process was continuously monitored in 7 days, 24 hours per day. Besides, the in-site air change rate(ACH) was measured. In workday (8:00-18:00) the results of HCHO reached around 0.54 (0.20) ppm , higher than 0.1ppm standards.CO2 was 1265.10(183)、1299.08(344.24)ppm higher than 1000ppm standard. TVOC was 5.44ppm (2.10), higher than 3ppm standards. Besides, And (ACH)was 1.48 times per hour. To base on the result of two evaluate method, we selected the time period of indoor air quality was less than the normal level(15:30∼17:30;Monday), use TO-15 to measure the qualitative and quantitative analysis of volatility organic matter. All the data received indicated that the concentration of MMA(about 2.8ppm) is the highest in all analyzed volatility organic matter. According to the Hazard Index, the HI=16.4>1, exhibit that the indoor worker may have the chronic occupational risks of no carcinogenic. According to investigation the dentist and workers obviously were exposed in substandard workroom. TVOC、HCHO and CO2 individual higher than standards 1.2times、1.8time and 0.45 time , therefore it is recommended to install local vacuum devices. At least the(ACH)should add 6 times per hour to improve local ventilation conform to standard.

Full textAn analysis of the patterns of dental treatment delivered over a period of time provides administrators with data from which they can assess the quality of service delivery being delivered so that they can make improvements where necessary. This may be referred to as a situation analysis. Oral Health surveys on the other hand drive policy decisions. The oral health needs of a population are identified in the surveys thus allowing the formulation of an oral health care policy for the country. In Mauritius neither situation analyses nor oral health surveys have been conducted. The only study into this oral health status of the population in Mauritius has been a DMFT study carried out by the WHO - 1989) 1990 Objectives of this study Little data exists at a local/district level on the patterns of dental care provided over a long term basis at individual clinics. This study sought to compare patterns of dental treatments at a selected clinic over a six year period. The aims were to (1) To investigate the pattern of treatment delivered at a particular dental clinic (Chemin Grenier Dental Clinic) in Mauritius over a period of seven years from year 2000 to year 2006. (2) Determine whether the package of care offered has changed over the study period. (3) To provide recommendations on how to improve the delivery of oral health care at dental clinics in Mauritius. Materials and methods The research location was Chemin Grenier, a village in Mauritius, an island state in the middle of the Indian Ocean. It has a state funded dental clinic, where all treatment is free of charge. All the data for the purpose of this study has been obtained from this clinic. Since the introduction of free oral health care in Mauritius, extractions have been most common dental treatment offered in the public service. The treatment offered were divided into three categories, namely, Dental extractions Conservative procedures aiming at preserving dentition, that is restorative work Preventive work which included scaling and fissure sealant placements The data was collected from monthly summary sheets of treatment performed at the clinic. They were compiled and the results were showcased by graphs and tables. Results The results show that patient attendances have gradually increased placing additional pressure on a already overloaded system. The treatment delivered has changed over the period of the survey with a decrease in the relative percentages of extractions done and a concomitant increase in restorative procedures. Preventative treatment has remained relatively constant over the period analysed. Conclusion If significant changes are to be affected in the oral health status of the population in Mauritius prefer planning a necessary. The following strategy is recommended A - Carry out an assessment of the oral health status of the community. (Natural Oral Health Survey ) which will provide quantitative data and also of the perceptions of oral health in terms of it being a priority in their lives which will provide the quantitative data. P - Develop a National Oral Health Policy basal on this data. A - Ensure that the dental service are delivered in terms of this policy.

After implementation of National Health Insurance program since March 1st, 1985 in Taiwan, all the different levels of medical care units faced a fierce competition due to the reallocation of medical resource in such a limited base. So the dental care market cannot be excluded, either. However, the government hopes to conquer the rapid growing path of medical expenditure, so they adopted a new payment system called “global budget program” for dental insurance system in July 1st, 1998. The payment system is designed by diagnosis base for case payment within the same disease category and the same and fixed payment amount. So it could fail to run a dental clinic if the dental clinic is inefficiency. In this study, we survey a total 25 dental clinics in Taipei area, in 2002, which were separated into three categories; one is so called “solo practice”, the other “group practice”, and the third “chain store dental clinic”. The other grouping method is by scale of clinic, which sorted the clinics into small clinic, medium clinic and large clinic. We try to find out the key input and output index for all dental clinics by Delphi method. And then assess the 25 dental clinic’s efficiency by the DEA (Data Envelopment Analysis) method. The outcome shows that the group practice class has the highest efficiency score, solo practice second and the last chain store dental clinic but no obvious difference were found in statistics both the CCR and BCC model. If based on the scale categories, the small clinic is the most efficient, large clinic second and medium clinic last.

Due to the development of economy and maturity of dental implant, edentulous patients gradually give up traditional bridges and dentures. They tend to choose implant restore, edentulous area and occlusal function. This way, revenue of implant has become the main source of self-pay in dental clinic. Therefore, this study tried to investigate and analyze whether patients choose implant or not. Based on the basic principle of econometrics, we conduct investigation by Eviews and statistical analysis. Most recipients said that they will undertake dental implant(80.0%) under edentulous. In addition, under hardware and precision equipment, items of operating scale; under word of mouth marketing, items of mass media, great reputation on Internet, introduction by relatives and experience; under dental implant quality, items of service morality, improve function and way to keep healthy all positively correlated to patients’ willingness.

The implementation of National Health Insurance in March 1995 has lowered the limitations and barriers for people to seek for medical re- sources. Between local dental clinics and medical centers, the differences in dental services and charges are minimal. Therefore most people would prefer to choose medical centers for better and more dental care. The pur- pose of this study is to understand that the significant factors that influ- ence the medical quality and satisfaction of dental care in different dental clinical models. This study is also based on the same dental staffs of the medical center. The subjects of this study were recruited from three major groups: 177 patients from the dental department of a medical center in Kaohsiung City, 193 patients from its downtown subdivision and 63 patients from the dental department of the municipal hospital in Kaohsiung City. This study used questionnaires to collect its data and this questionnaire co- nsists of two parts: one was importance and satisfaction of patients for dental services, the other was the personal profile and their visiting dentists behavior. These data were analyzed by JMP 5.01 statistics soft- ware. The result of this study illustrated that the factors which affected the successful dental treatments were the abilities and techniques, the attitude of the dentists and cleaning and sterilization of dental units and instru- ments. The patient’s satisfaction was related to the attitude, abilities, techniques, academic background and specialist of dentists and the least satisfaction factor was taken interns’ treatments. This study also found that major factors which affected the behavior of patients in choosing their dental clinics were doctor’s professionalism, well-equipped medical instruments and convenience of transportation. In addition, the result showed that patients needed to be treated by the qualified and specialized dentists but they didn’t like to be referred among different specialized departments. Patients also preferred to be cared by a unique dentist with consultations by others specialists. The conclusion of this study was that the dental department of a me- dical center should be not only maintain its standard service level but also renew instruments, improve clinical environment and enforce assistants’ techniques and service attitude.

Because of the worse health insurance and total number payment practice, it leads the result that the self-paid medication to a few clinics ,especially the category of dental in self-paid part, teeth laser, beauty-teeth,cold light beauty, and artificial dental implant, these are the hot markets to those dental hospitals. So what kind of factors do those dental patients consider in their mind on dental implant? Are there any important elements that is crucial for those dental hospital to develop the self-paid dental implant? To explore a decision of choosing dental implant is necessary and important. The research aims at knowing the personality, the cognition of dental implant and the direction of adopting decisions within various customer groups. At the same time, to explore the focuses of different customers’ degree on decisive factors to help the manager know dental patients assess the new product process and to enrich the new products’ level of adoption. Analysis was undertaken with spss12.0, using methods by descriptive statistics, t-test, variability analysis, ANOVA test and logistic regression. The result of this study is summarized as follows :the middle-agers focus more attention on dental implant skills and services than the elders. Furthermore, the middle-agers focus their attention on the famous brand of dental implant, the time of the operation process, the way it goes and the wound nursing after implant operation. The low-earners focus more attention on the time for the denture after the implant operation than the high-earners. The workers pay attention to CEREC-3D in the clinic. Senior high school and senior vocational high school educational background care about the wound nursing after implant operation. Four predictor factors comprise the doctors’ professional and ability, the skill of dental implant and service, the perception of dental implant and value, the market for dental implant and advantage. They are significant χ2 =21.581(p=.000<.05) within the dental implant and none dental implant regression model. The whole accuracy of prediction is 91.3%.According to the above , the regression model’s goodness of fit is ideal which is established by four predictors. There are remarkable correlations among skill of dental implant and service, dental implant perception and value, dental implant market and advantage and dental implant, non dental implant. These three predictors can forecast the result between dental implant and non dental implant.

In the past, people often thought that the dentist industry had a very high profit. The department of dentistry is also the goal of many students, but the industry has encountered many challenges in recent years. With the stagnation of payment for National Health Insurance and the oversupply in the dental market, The operation of the clinic is more difficult. In this context, how to find a successful clinic business strategy is what the clinic leaders must think about. At present, Taiwan's clinics are more likely to respond those changes in the entire dental industry by developing self-funded projects, reducing operating costs, or cooperating with other clinics to develop chain dentist clinics to achieve patient referrals and lower purchase costs. Through the case study method, this study explores the possible future development of regional joint clinics. I hope that through the rich experience of clinics development in the past 40 years, the clinic leaders will sort out the direction and business strategies that the future dental clinics can develop.
