Full textProjection of future extreme events is a major issue in a large number of areas including the environment and risk management. Although univariate extreme value theory is well understood, there is an increase in complexity when trying to understand the joint extreme behavior between two or more variables. Particular interest is given to events that are spatial by nature and which define the context of infinite dimensions. Under the assumption that events correspond marginally to univariate extremes, the main focus is then on the dependence structure that links them. First, we provide a review of parametric dependence models in the multivariate framework and illustrate different estimation strategies. The spatial extension of multivariate extremes is introduced through max-stable processes. We derive the finite-dimensional distribution of the widely used Brown-Resnick model which permits inference via full and composite likelihood methods. We then use Skew-symmetric distributions to develop a spectral representation of a wider max-stable model: the extremal Skew-t model from which most models available in the literature can be recovered. This model has the nice advantages of exhibiting skewness and nonstationarity, two properties often held by environmental spatial events. The latter enables a larger spectrum of dependence structures. Indicators of extremal dependence can be calculated using its finite-dimensional distribution. Finally, we introduce a kernel based non-parametric estimation procedure for univariate and multivariate tail density and apply it for model selection. Our method is illustrated by the example of selection of physical climate models

Full textWe aimed to determine whether dietary nitrate (NO3-) supplementation and ADMA modulate NO bioavailability and muscle blood flow during exercise. The second purpose was to establish whether aerobic fitness alters the effects of dietary NO3- supplementation and ADMA on muscle blood flow during exercise. In our meta-analysis, we found that dietary NO3- supplementation decreases V̇O2 during exercise performed in the moderate and heavy intensity domains in healthy subjects, and enhances exercise tolerance in subjects with chronic diseases, but no change in V̇O2. Our second study showed that dietary NO3- supplementation did not increase the number of repetitions completed during supramaximal intensity intermittent exercise in endurance athletes with high aerobic fitness (V̇O2max > 65 mL.kg-1.min-1), and did not increase muscle blood volume. In the third study, aerobic fitness is not related to muscle O2 delivery and plasma ADMA concentrations in young male subjects with a wide range of aerobic fitness level. In the fourth study, increased plasma ADMA levels did not decrease muscle blood flow during low-treadmill running exercise in healthy rats. In conclusion, dietary NO3- supplementation could contribute to an improved tolerance to exercise by reducing O2 cost during exercises at submaximal intensities. However, endurance-trained athletes with high V̇O2max level do not benefit from the effects of dietary NO3- supplementation on exercise performance and muscle blood flow as reported in moderately trained subjects. Moreover, ADMA did not regulate muscle blood flow and O2 delivery during exercise in conditions free from cardiovascular and metabolic diseases in humans and in the rat with pharmacological-induced increase in plasma ADMA levels

Full textThe creation of GATT in 1947 by western countries has set a new international order trade that would facilitate trade exchanges and moves forward economic development around the world. For that reasbn GATT regulations aimed above aIl at the application of a trade policy that consists of getting rid of the hindrances to the exchanges, and proscribe discriminatory trade exchanges between countries and imported and exported local merchandizes. Indeed article 1 in GATT regulations in 1947 (became WTO in 1995) poses the cardinal mIe of treatment of the nation which is more privileged, that is an equal treatment for aIl countries that are members of GATT. But the arrivaI of the new independent countries III 1960 has changed the juridical nature of GATT because economically the gap was too huge between the countries. So it is important to take into account the economic reality of the poor countries to set a strategic policy that will help them out. With that policy they will be able to catch up with the new era of development and trade exchanges around the world will be fair. The adoption in 1964 of the Part 4 of GATT regulations entitled trade and development favours the non-reciprocity trade to developing countriesand makes official at the same occasion a duality of norms because the two categories of members put into the application the mIes ofGATT differently. This research aims at studying this asymmetrical politic that would compensate the inequality of the development of poor countries, and would also provide them an economic development by the means of trade exchanges. ln spite of the preferential treatments given to the developing countries, theyare not yet making any progress because their trade balance is deficient, and their productivity is worthless. In doing a broader research on the situation of developing countries, we will focus particularly on the situations of Niger and Benin. This research would serve first to analyse the effects of the economic liberalism on the poor countries; secondly create the interest to study the economic development of the countries out of the asymmetrical politic that do not bring any attempted results.
