However, many questions remain as to the exact role exercise plays in this disorder. In particular, it has been suggested that exercise holds “addictive” properties in persons with AN, but that remains to be demonstrated. Objective:The aim of this study was to adapt and apply a scale used in addictions research to determine whether symptoms of “dependence” to exercise could be measured in a group of women with AN.Results:Forty-eight percent of individuals assess

One of the main questions studying by the economic geography is the reasons for the heterogeneity of the distribution of economic processes in space. For research of this kind, it is extremely important that the researcher uses the idea of he economic process as such, the nature of its dynamics and the factors influencing its development. This paper is devoted to the concept of the “path dependence”, based on the ideas of “dependence on previous development”. The notion is clearly interdisciplinary in nature and can be used and is already used in economic and geographical research. This work i

Different theories have been proposed to explain the development of nicotine dependence. Some theories suggest that nicotine has direct reinforcing properties, either positive or negative. That is, nicotine is self-administered because it produces pleasure or positive affect or because it alleviates aversive symptoms associated with withdrawal and/or other nondrug aversive states (e.g., depression). Another possibility is that nicotine has indirect reinforcing properties; that is, nicotine can act as an enhancer of other reinforcers and, as such, it can affect responsivity to reward. This poss

Abstract:
Countries around the world have endured over a year of extreme uncertainty in the context of the COVID-19 crisis, and economies in the Caribbean have suffered more than most. But with the increasing availability of vaccines and prospects for a resumption of international travel, light is emerging at the end of the Pandemic tunnel. With this in mind, The Inter-American Development Bank Caribbean1 Departments most recent Quarterly Bulletin reviews the latest available information regarding the crisis impacts on citizens, their economies, and key factors that will determine the speed and depth of

Abstract:
This paper documents the relationship between regional financial development and firm growth in the Peruvian manufacturing sector. In order to control for mutual causality between credit availability and firm growth, industry differences in financial dependence on external funds are exploited. The 1994 and 2008 rounds of the National Economic Census are used, permitting analysis at the firm level as well as the activity level. Results suggest a significant and positive effect of financial deepening on surviving firms` growth. However, this effect is smaller for micro enterprises, suggesting th

This casebook presents the outcomes of the Water for Sustainable Development (WSD) research project implemented by the United Nations University Institute for the Advanced Study of Sustainability (UNU-IAS) to improve regional environmental and economic policies in the case study countries. The project investigated the role of water in the sustainable development of four locations in Asia: Bali Province, Indonesia; Kaski District, Nepal; Visakhapatnam City, India; and Rayong Province, Thailand. Based on an Input-Output (IO) analysis, the research findings provide a comprehensive matrix of inter

The Subtask 2T focuses on the development of improved TCM materials, which are based on sorption (micro/mesoporous solids and liquids (hydroxides)), chemical reactions (salt hydrates and metal oxides/hydroxides) and combinations (zeolites / graphite + salt hydrates / metal). The activities of the Subtask 2T include the listing of new and improved existing materials, determination of material properties, measurement of thermo-physical properties and expanding the database implemented within the previous task.

Abstract:
We establish that the Phillips curve is persistence-dependent: inflation responds differently to persistent versus moderately persistent (or versus transient) fluctuations in the unemployment rate gap. This persistence-dependent relationship appears to align with business-cycle stages and is thus consistent with existing theory. Previous work fails to model this dependence, thereby finding numerous "inflation puzzles" – e.g., missing inflation/disinflation – noted in the literature. Our specification eliminates these puzzles; for example, the Phillips curve has not weakened, nor was inflation
