The main function of a water distribution system is to supply water in sufficient quantity at appropriate pressure with an acceptable quality and as economically as possible. Water leakage in distribution networks may account from 5% to 50% and even larger of the total water delivered. The amount of leakage in a network is directly related to system service pressure. Therefore, reductions in high service pressures will result in considerable reductions in leakage. A methodology for leakage reduction has been presented in context of a developed computer program, LEAKSOL with two sub-programs.

The combined effect of motor and mental status on care-dependency in PD outpatients is not well characterized. We conducted a cross-sectional study of 1449 PD outpatients. The assessment comprised the Montgomery–Asberg Depression Rating Scale (MADRS) and the diagnostic criteria for dementia. The demand rate is a power function of the on-hand inventory until down to a certain stock level, at which the demand rate becomes a constant. We prove that the optimal replenishment policy not only exists but also is unique. Furthermore, we provide simple solution procedures for finding the maximum total profit per unit time. Some numerical examples are given to illustrate the model and conclude the paper with suggestions for possible future research.
