Abstract:

Le premier objectif de ce travail était d'étudier l'effet de la substitution en position 4 de nitrones de type DEPMPO sur la géométrie des adduits superoxyde, sur leur persistance et sur l'allure de leurs spectres RPE. Le deuxième objectif était de fournir des précurseurs pour la synthèse de nitrones plus spécifiques. Mon travail de doctorat a consisté en la synthèse et l'étude RPE de deux séries de nitrones fonctionnalisées par un groupement phényl en position 4. Les deux diastéréoisomères : la 4 PhDEPMPOt et la 4 PhDEPMPOc furent préparés et utilisés pour le piégeage de plusieurs espèces radicalaires. L'adduit de spin formé par réaction de la 4 PhDEPMPOc avec le superoxyde a présenté un signal composé de 8 raies montrant seulement un léger phénomène de largeur de raie alternée. Les temps de demi-vie de la 4PhDEPMPOc-OOH sont similaire ( ~15mm). La deuxième série de molécules, ce sont les nitrones dérivées de la 4HMDEPMPO. Cette molécule fut obtenu en trois étapes et utilisée comme précurseur pour la préparation de nitrones vectorisées. L'adduit de spin formé par réaction de la 4HMDEPMPOc avec le superoxyde a présenté un signal composé de 8 raies montrant seulement un phénomène de largeur de raie alternée résiduel. Le temps de demi-vie de la 4HMDEPMPO-cOOH est plus grand (21mn) que celui de la DEPMPO-OOH. Un premier test de vectorisation par une molécule présentant une activité biologique a été concluant puisque la 4BIODEPMPOc fut synthétisée et l'étude RPE a démontré que l'introduction du motif biotine est compatible avec le piégeage de radicaux libres et a présenté un adduit du superoxyde dont le signal fut facilement attribuable

Abstract:

La premiere partie de ce travail est consacree a la mise au point de la synthese du 2-diethylphosphono-2-methyl-3,4-dihydro-2h-pyrrole 1-oxyde (depmpo), une molecule particulierement interessante pour son application au piegeage de spin (spin trapping) en milieu biologique et en milieu organique. La synthese de cette nitrone -phosphoree est realisee, en deux etapes, par addition de diethylphosphite sur la 2-methylpyrroline (rendement >95%) suivie de l'oxydation de l'aminophosphonate obtenu. Le controle de cette reaction d'oxydation est de premiere importance pour obtenir la depmpo. Parmi les oxydants testes, le dimethyldioxirane et le reactif de davis ont donne les meilleurs resultats (rendement >80%). Les produits secondaires formes dans ces reactions sont identifies. Une bibliographie detaillee sur la formation des nitrones a partir de l'oxydation des amines secondaires complete cette premiere partie. La seconde partie de ce travail concerne l'application de la depmo au piegeage de divers radicaux centres sur le carbone, le soufre et l'oxygene. Chacun des adduits obtenus est identifie et caracterise par rpe. Une analyse de la geometrie des cycles pyrrolidinoxyle est egalement abordee ici

Abstract:

La 5-diéthoxyphosphoryl-5-méthyl-pyrroline-N-oxyde (DEPMPO) est une nitrone très performante pour le piégeage des radicaux libres oxygénés, notamment le radical superoxyde. Elle présente des capacités de piégeage supérieure à celle de la 5,5-diméthyl-pyrroline-N-oxyde (DMPO) (meilleure persistance de l'adduit DEPMPO-OOH, absence de décomposition en adduit DEPMPO-OH), avantages liés à l'introduction d'un groupement diéthoxyphosphoryle P(O) (OEt)2 sur le cycle pyrrolidinique. Le premier objectif de ce travail est de comprendre pourquoi l'introduction du groupe P(O) (OEt)2 contribue la stabilisation de l'adduit DEPMPO-OOH. Dans ce but, nous avons synthétisé la 5-diéthoxyphosphoryl-5-phényl-pyrroline-N-oxyde (DEPPPO), la 5-méthyl-5-trifluorométhyl-N-oxyde (TFMPO), la méthyl(5-méthylpyrrolidin-5-yl-N-oxyde)phosphinate d'éthyle (EMPMPO) et l'oxyde de dipropyl(5-méthylpyrrolidin-5-yl-N-oxyde) phosphine (DPPMPO). L'analyse des spectres RPE et des calculs de mécanique moléculaire ont montré qu'il existe une stabilisation par effet anomère des adduits du radical superoxyde. La seconde partie de ce travail est consacrée à l'étude du contrôle de l'échange conformationnel observé dans le cas des adduits DEPMPO-OOR (R = H, alkyl). Pour cela, nous avons synthétisé deux nitrones dérivées de l'EMPO et de la DEPMPO substituées par un groupe phényle en position 3 : la 5-diéthoxyphosphono-5-méthyl-3-phényl-1-pyrroline N-oxyde (DEPMPPO) et la 5-éthoxycarbonyl-5-méthyl-3-phényl-1-pyrroline N-oxyde (EMPPO). L'introduction d'un groupement phényle en position "cis" par rapport au groupe -P(O) (OEt)2 supprime le phénomène d'alternance de largeur de raie lié à l'échange chimique dans les adduits OOR, simplifiant ainsi l'allure du spectre RPE.

Abstract:

Un nouveau piege a radicaux, la 5-diethoxyphosphoryl-5-methyl-1-pyrroline n-oxyde (depmpo) a ete synthetise via une voie synthetique comprenant 2 etapes et son utilisation pour pieger des radicaux libres oxygenes en milieu biologique a ete etudiee. Le spin trapping in vitro des radicaux hydroxyle et superoxyde a ete effectue en solution tampon phosphate 0,1 m et les constantes de couplage hyperfin des adduits de spin obtenus ont ete determinees. Les constantes de vitesse de piegeage des radicaux hydroxyle et superoxyde avec la depmpo sont similaires a celles trouvees avec la 5,5-dimethyl-1-pyrroline n-oxide (dmpo). Cependant nous avons trouve que l'adduit de spin depmpo-superoxyde etait plus persistant (15 fois a ph 7) que l'adduit dmpo-superoxyde. Pour la premiere fois, en utilisant la depmpo, la production de radicaux superoxyde pendant la reperfusion de curs de rats isoles au cours d'une ischemie myocardique provoquee a ete clairement caracterisee

Abstract:

Las necesidades de las personas son muy dinámicas y cambiantes; cada vez requieren de productos y/o servicios más integrales, personalizados y que satisfagan los requerimientos del cliente. Además, las personas tienen una vida cada vez más activa: hoy en día, por lo general, ambos padres de familia trabajan y realizan múltiples actividades, por lo que el tiempo que disponen para realizar y controlar los quehaceres domésticos diarios es reducido. Considerando los niveles de inseguridad y delincuencia que hay en Lima, donde hay robos en todas las zonas y en cualquier momento, la búsqueda de personal de limpieza seguro y confiable para hogares es una tarea bastante exigente; este personal extraño al hogar no solo debe realizar bien su trabajo, sino tener un buen comportamiento durante las horas que pasa en los distintos ambientes de la casa de su empleador. El mercado ofrece distintas opciones como agencias de empleo, que muchas veces no son seguras ni adecuadas ya que no han hecho una evaluación previa de los trabajadores que promueven; además de las referencias o recomendaciones que las persona pueden recibir de su entorno social. Como consecuencia de este análisis se ha identificado que existe la necesidad de un servicio de limpieza para hogares que sea más seguro, dinámico y que facilite a los potenciales clientes la seguridad de contar con personal de servicio seguro y eficiente para que realice estas labores domésticas en horarios flexibles, según las necesidades del cliente. Debido a ello se propone el desarrollo de un negocio en línea, por medio de una plataforma digital (aplicativo móvil), en donde el cliente pueda hacer el pedido y pago de un servicio cómodo, de fácil uso y acceso inmediato en cualquier momento y lugar; lo que permitirá el ahorro de tiempo y tener mayor seguridad de las personas que ingresan al hogar del cliente.

Abstract:

Applications are increasingly hosted on shared, heterogeneous distributed systems. Web applications and “cloud” computing are broad examples of this, but even relatively isolated servers often depend on shared, network-accessible resources. This standardization around service layers abstracts aspects of service delivery, but often entails a large collection of component systems. The complexity that is abstracted from a functional perspective can give rise to runtime issues. Critical issues arising out of this model include resource utilization (sizing, capacity testing, resource monitoring) and dependency management (identifying and monitoring dependencies between components and potential for impact to an application). This thesis presents an automated solution called DepMap for identifying and monitoring file, network and other communication dependencies in applications by analysis of low-level operating system activity. This work is applicable to resource utilization, diagnosis of performance issues, characterization of workloads, and systems management. This thesis discusses DepMap’s requirements, design and implementation, and evaluates the effectiveness and performance on simulated and actual applications. DepMap can be used to create models of system behavior, based both on observations over time and on injection of delays into selected system operations to understand impact to the larger system. When applied to two commercial systems DepMap was able to identify changing dependencies, and to characterize the behavior of network and storage dependencies. On a cluster of systems hosting a web application, DepMap showed unexpected variation in network transmission time between peers in the cluster, and helped to uncover large jumps in system clock times arising from unreliable Network Time Protocol (NTP) services. On a database server that processes hundreds of gigabytes of data each day, DepMap was able to characterize I/O workload to storage connected by Fiber Channel and iSCSI. This work showed that serious performance limitations existed in the storage server due to fragmentation, design assumptions poorly suited to a data warehouse workload, and competition from other storage consumers. This information was used to design and validate a new server/storage platform specifically for this workload. The insight gained by using DepMap in this case has provided dramatically improved performance (10-15x faster throughput for some relevant workloads) and large cost savings relative to other options.

El presente trabajo tiene por objetivo identificar la función del recurso de unificación de jurisprudencia que se manifiesta en los fallos sobre nulidad de despido cuando se establece la naturaleza imponible de la remuneración en el fallo. Para ello, se efectuó un análisis de la doctrina nacional y extranjera respecto a las posibles funciones de la Corte Suprema, así como del tema de fondo, a saber, la nulidad de despido. Asimismo, se efectuó un análisis de fallos de tribunales superiores de justicia, casi en su totalidad correspondiente a sentencias sobre unificación de jurisprudencia de la Corte Suprema. Es posible concluir que el recurso de unificación de jurisprudencia no cumple con los objetivos que se desprenden de la historia fidedigna de la ley que estableció este recurso, a saber, que el pronunciamiento de la Corte Suprema debía servir de ‘interpretación uniforme’, de ‘precedente’ y para ‘uniformar los fallos’.

O sistema lacustre da Zona Oeste do município do Rio de Janeiro, que compreende como Unidades de Conservação os Parques Naturais Municipais Chico Mendes (PNMCM) e Marapendi (PNMM), apresenta ocorrência do jacaré-de-papo-amarelo, Caiman latirostris. As áreas estudadas são um dos últimos refúgios onde ainda encontram-se populações remanescentes de C. latirostris. Foram realizados dez dias de capturas no período de um ano, de junho 2006 a maio de 2007. O jacaré-de-papo-amarelo apresenta grande variação na dieta relacionada a heterogeneidade ambiental em que pode ser encontrado. Os Parques estudados, apresentam ambientes distintos e interligados pelo Canal das Tachas. A dieta dos jacarés nas lagoas e no Canal das Tachas foi dividida em relação ao tamanho das classes de jacarés. Foi observado que os jacarés da lagoinha das Tachas no PNMCM, apresentam uma dieta mais pobre, composta predominantemente de hexápodas associados a ambientes poluídos, diferente dos jacarés encontrados na lagoa Marapendi que apresentam uma dieta mais diversa entre vertebrados e invertebrados, com predominância de peixes e crustáceos. Muitos dos animais estudados que residem no Canal das Tachas, são alimentados por moradores locais. C. latirostris não apresentou preferência por determinados tipos de presas, se alimentando de toda e qualquer presa disponível no ambiente, e nem especialidade de captura por qualquer tipo de presa. Este resultado sugere que, os itens-presa encontrados no conteúdo estomacal do jacaré-de-papo-amarelo podem ser o reflexo da diversidade de presas disponíveis no ambiente, o que indica uma grande capacidade adaptativa do animal a ambientes diversos. Devido a sua longevidade, jacarés e crocodilos estão sujeitos às modificações ambientais naturais e exposição às alterações antrópicas no ambiente. O mercúrio é considerado um elemento traço comum em ambientes lacustres, alagados e reservatórios, sendo de fácil acumulação no organismo e pode se disponibilizar na cadeia trófica devido a fatores ambientais. As taxas de mercúrio encontradas no sangue da espécie foram relativamente altas devido ao favorecimento da metilação mercurial por plantas aquáticas. A acumulação de mercúrio no músculo de C. latirostris se deve ao histórico alimentar e/ou contato prévio destes com presas previamente contaminadas, tendo sido maior na lagoinha das Tachas. Considerado um predador topo-de-cadeia, assim como os demais crocodilianos, e uma espécie-chave para os ambientes onde se inserem, pode ser utilizado como bioindicador de qualidade ambiental.
The freshwater system located at west area of Rio de Janeiro’s municipality is composed by two municipal natural parks: Parque Natural Municipal Chico Mendes (PNMCM) e Parque Natural Municipal Marapendi (PNMM), which are the occurrence areas of Caiman latirostris, a crocodilian species, inside municipal protection areas. These areas represent the last environments where Caiman latirostris populations still living at. Ten captures were made over a year, since June 2006 until May 2007. This species, Caiman latirostris, presents nonspecific diet, including several invertebrates and vertebrates, related to the great variability of environments where it can be found. Chico Mendes and Marapendi Natural Parks, located at Rio de Janeiro’s city, are distinct but interconnected. It was observed that alligators from Tachas’channel at Chico Mendes’ Park presented a poorer diet, composed by hexapods associated to polluted environments, than alligators from Marapendi’s pond, that include vertebrates and invertebrates organisms, mainly fishes and crustaceans, on their alimentation. The alligator’s diet at the two ponds and at Tachas’ channel was separated by length intervals. Most part of the studied animals from Tachas’ channel is fed by people that live nearby. In this study, C. latirostris didn’t show preferences on one specific prey, feeding on any possible prey available in the environment and neither any specificity on captures methods for any kind of prey. This result suggest that the prey items found in stomachal contents of C. latirostris could be a reflex of the prey’s diversity in the environment, which indicate a great adaptation capacity of this species. Due to its longevity, alligators and crocodiles are submitted to natural and anthropic environmental modifications. The species Caiman latirostris, as other crocodilians species, is considered as a top predator and key species in the environments where they live, being used as bioindicators of environmental quality. Mercury is a global pollutant and it is naturally present in aquatic ecosystems as lakes, rivers, wetlands and reservoirs. It may be available to biota and transferred throughout the trophic levels in the food chain. In this study were also evaluated mercury concentrations on blood and muscles of Caiman latirostris. Mercury concentrations in blood showed no differences among areas and among length intervals. Mercury accumulation on muscles of C. latirostris was different between areas, but no difference was found among length intervals. These differences found in those areas, may reflect distinct actual and past environmental conditions.

O presente trabalho pretende desvendar o singular universo cinematográfico de Tim Burton, autor de personagens e paisagens predominantemente góticas. Ao mesmo tempo, propõe-se descortinar o seu contributo para o cinema moderno através da colaboração regular que o realizador tem mantido com o ator Johnny Depp ao longo dos últimos vinte anos. O ponto de partida para este estudo compreende uma breve apresentação das origens, interesses e início da carreira do realizador e do ator no primeiro capítulo. De seguida, e no mesmo capítulo, são analisados os filmes resultantes da parceria entre o realizador e o ator dando-se especial relevo aos temas e elementos iconográficos mais frequentes e à influência que os filmes de terror gótico alcançaram na filmografia do realizador. No segundo capítulo, a carreira cinematográfica do ator Johnny Depp é alvo de análise discutindo-se o tipo de personagens que o ator protagoniza e a sua colaboração com vários realizadores do cinema atual, em particular a sua parceria com Burton. São ainda discutidas neste capítulo, as razões que conduziram ao sucesso artístico e comercial deste par. O terceiro capítulo centra-se na apreciação alargada da obra do realizador e a influência dos seus filmes no cinema contemporâneo através do ressurgimento de personagens bizarras e da perpetuação de mundos esteticamente irreais e sombrios próprios da cultura do gótico (em particular do teen gótico). A revitalização de técnicas de animação de stop-motion e a apropriação e subversão da narrativa do conto de fadas tradicional na obra de Tim Burton são também objeto de estudo neste último capítulo. Finalmente, a análise feita à ligação do realizador com os estúdios de Hollywood permite fazer uma apreciação crítica e chegar à conclusão que desta parceria profissional resultam filmes com um cunho pessoal que são, em simultâneo, comercialmente bem sucedidos e favoravelmente aceites pela crítica cinematográfica em geral.
In this work I intend to show Tim Burton’s peculiar filmic universe as an author of stereotypical characters and dark gothic atmospheres. Meanwhile, I also intend to unveil Burton’s contribution to modern cinema through his regular working collaboration with the actor Johnny Depp over the last twenty years. Starting first with a brief introduction to their childhood and family backgrounds, interests and formative years, I proceed to examine their common filmography as well as Burton’s most recurrent themes and iconography in the first chapter, including the influence of gothic horror films on Burtonian cinematic universe. The spotlight of the second chapter is a brief analysis on Johnny Depp’s acting career, thus discussing his portrayal of a certain typology of leading characters, along with his working collaboration with several contemporary directors, particularly his partnership with Burton. The reasons behind this working team’s artistic and commercial success are also discussed in this chapter. The third chapter will focus on an extended appreciation of Burton’s work and its influence on contemporary cinema as is illustrated by the resurgence of bizarre characters or monsters and heavily stylized unrealistic dark universes properly identifiable within contemporary gothic culture (particularly the teen gothic). The revival of stop-motion animation film techniques along with Burton’s appropriation and plot subversion of the traditional fairy tale in his films are also discussed in this last chapter. Finally, by examining the director’s working relationship within the Hollywood studio system, I arrive at the conclusion that Burton has been able to produce personal films that are nevertheless commercially successful and critically acclaimed by reviewers.

El sector bancario español ha experimento profundas transformaciones a lo largo de la última década como consecuencia de los fenómenos de desregulación, desintermediación, innovación y del inicio de la Unión Monetaria Europea. Ante tales transformaciones, las empresas bancarias se han visto en la necesidad de rediseñar sus estrategias y reorganizar sus estructuras para hacer frente a las nuevas condiciones de la competencia. Cabe plantearse, sin embargo, si los sistemas de información contable para la gestión de estas entidades se han adaptado a estas nuevas condiciones competitivas. En el trabajo que se presenta se pretenden evaluar las características de los sistemas de contabilidad de gestión de las cajas de ahorros españolas. Para ello se ha llevado a cabo una investigación empírica en la que se han revisado los distintos componentes de sus sistemas de contabilidad de gestión, tanto aquellos considerados como tradicionales como, asimismo, la difusión de los desarrollos más recientes de esta disciplina. Ello ha permitido identificar las limitaciones y proponer las características más idóneas de los sistemas de contabilidad de gestión aplicables a estas empresas.
The Spanish banking sector has experienced large-scale transformations throughout the last decade as a consequence of factors such as: deregulation, disintermediation, innovation, and the European Monetary Union. Faced with these changes, banks have been forced to redesign their strategies and reorganise their structures in order to meet the new conditions of competition. It must be determined, however, if the accounting information systems for the management of these organisations have been adapted to these new competitive conditions. This investigation tries to evaluate the management accounting systems in Spanish savings banks. In order to do this, an empirical investigation has been carried out which has reviewed the different components of management accounting systems, both the traditional systems and those using the most recent developments in that area. This has enabled us to identify limitations and propose the most ideal characteristics of management accounting for these companies.

Depo-Provera, an injectable contraceptive, is utilized by about 30% of married women in Malawi. Most women have reported their preference to use Depo-Provera due to its effectiveness in preventing pregnancy, reversibility and easy to use since it is given once at 12-weeks intervals. Despite the method having such advantages, it has menstrual effects, and one of the major concerns for women, particularly in Africa, is amenorrhea. In Malawi, 40% of Depo-Provera users report experiencing amenorrhea after one year of use. Despite the concern for amenorrhea, some women have continued using the method. Literature shows that there is limited information on women's experiences of amenorrhea following use of Depo-Provera. A descriptive phenomenological research design was used to explore and describe women’s experiences of amenorrhea following use of Depo-Provera in order to understand how women experience amenorrhea and give meaning to the experience. Data were collected through in-depth unstructured interviews with six women, who were selected using purposive sampling. The interviews were conducted in Tumbuka language. Data analysis was done using Colaizzi’s method of analyzing descriptive phenomenological data. Five themes and some sub-themes emerged from data analysis. The themes were: "Lack of knowledge on cause of amenorrhea", "Fear of pregnancy", "Misconceptions associated with Depo-Provera Induced Amenorrhea", "Lack of proper counseling on amenorrhea resulting from Depo-Provera use" and "Amenorrhea not perceived as a problem when midwives provide adequate information". The themes showed that women accessing family planning services from Chitipa district hospital were not provided with information on amenorrhea resulting from using Depo- Provera. Hence, they expressed fear when they experienced the side effect. Participants stated that they were afraid of becoming infertile after using the family planning method, getting pregnant as well as amenorrhea itself. Their intention to discontinue using the method was largely associated with negative rumors, beliefs and misconceptions. The conclusion of the study is that there is need for midwives to provide information on amenorrhea resulting from Depo-Provera use. This will assist clients to understand that amenorrhea could occur as a side effect, and hence improve continued utilization of the method.
