But the supply of US Treasury bonds is limited by the ceiling on public debt, and is constrained by neoliberal theories of limits to the size of government. Abstract:
In Japan, the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) commenced a research and development (R&D) project on seafloor massive sulfide (SMS) deposits in Japan’s exclusive economic zone (EEZ) in the 2008 fiscal year. The project defines the plan for the commercialization of SMS within 10 years. Japan Oil, Gas and Metals National Corporation (JOGMEC) conducted the research under contract to METI. SMS deposits are widely distributed in the sea area surrounding Japan and are expected to become domestic metal resources. Since the SMS fields include hydrothermal ecosystems, which often host

Abstract:
Shell Oil Corporation has developed an in-situ process for shale oil recovery that uses electric heaters to heat oil shale deposits and produce chemical reactions within the shale that can liberate the shale-oil. The major production expense is electrical power used to heat the shale. Significantly, small mobile nuclear reactors are now under development and testing that could provide high-temperature working fluids (both gaseous and liquid) at lower unit energy cost to replace current electrical heating. Nuclear generated steam is particularly cost effective and technically attractive for oil

Abstract The paper will describe a collaboration of the DoD Propulsion Environmental Working Group (PEWG), Oklahoma City Air Logistics Center (OC-ALC), Pratt & Whitney and Engelhard Corporation to qualify and transition High Velocity Oxy Fuel (HVOF) thermal spray of tungsten carbide coatings to replace electrolytic chrome plating for the repair of Pratt and Whitney (PWA) engines at the OC-ALC. This depot is the primary location for engine repair for the US Air Force. The paper details the engineering effort to qualify the HVOF tungsten carbide coating on PWA TF33 engine components as an pr

Commercialization of concentrating solar power (CSP) technologies require the development of advanced reflector materials that are low cost and maintain high specular reflectance for extended lifetimes under severe outdoor environments. During the past 9 years, the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) has funded Science Applications International Corporation (SAIC) in McLean, Virginia, to develop a promising low-cost advanced solar reflective material (ASRM) combining the best of both thin-glass and silvered-polymer reflectors. The alumina (Al2O3) coating is deposited by ion-beam-assist

Abstract:
In 1994, Kennecott Utah Copper Corporation (now Rio Tinto Kennecott Corporation) commissioned DIGHEM Inc. to collect an airborne geophysical survey over the entirety of the Oquirrh Mountains. The Oquirrh Mountains airborne geophysical survey contains electromagnetic (EM), aeromagnetic, aeroradiometric, and very low frequency (VLF) data over the most significant mineral-producing area in Utah and remains the most complete geophysical dataset over the mountain range to date. The survey represents a dataset that would be unfeasible to collect under modern airspace considerations. The data in this
