Full textIntegrated in the context of the PALHYDAF program (PALaeoHYDogy of AFrica), the study of lake deposits lie in closed depressions along the northeastern margin of the Aïr mountains aims to a precise reconstitution of the Pleistocène and Holocene environments, for a better understanding of climatic oscillations in the Saharo-Sahelian border zone. The basic material for this research work consists of sediment samples collected by auger drilling or at natural outcrops ln four endoreic basins (17-2l°N, 8-ll°E), with different kinds of water supply (groundwater, surface water). A multidisciplinary study (sedimentology, geochemistry, isotopic geochemisty, palaeobiology) of the collected samples has provided detailed information about the palaeoenvironment such as, for example, variations in the rate of evaporation and their influence on the water salinity. In some favorable cases it's possible to reconstruct the fluctuation curve of Holocene lake levels. A comparison of the results from different sites shows that the Holocene period comprises a major humid phase which starts about 10000-9500 years BP and reaches a maximum 8000 years BP. This phase seems to end around 7500 years BP. In some of the basins another humid phase is observed approximately 5000 years BP. Concerning the Pleistocene period there is probably excess of water from 13- 12000 years BP, at least in the basins supplied by surface run-off (Adrar Bous). As regards more ancient conditions, analysis have shown that the calcite was diagenetic. Consequently, carbonate 14C ages (20-35000 years BP) reflect fluctuations ln the groudwater level and not the original age of the deposit. This conclusion is of great importance as it questions former age of the Upper Pleistocene period,"the humid phase 25-35000 years BP earlier recognized in the Sahellan zone, and the resulting palaeoclimatic scenarios. Several datations by Th/U suggest that the original age of the fluvio-lacustrine episode is dated around 90000 years
Jones, Jentry Indigo. "Behavioral Household Finance and Robo-Advising." Electronic Thesis or Diss., Orléans, 2024. http://www.theses.fr/2024ORLE1084.
Full textThis research studies the behavior of household investors who use a French robo-advisor across four empirical papers. In the first study, investors who save regularly save less in the medium- to long-run than those who only save sporadically, calling into question the universality of this popular financial advice. In the second study, investors update their portfolio risk over time in a way that does not always replicate findings from static portfolios, challenging the extent to which research on static portfolios should inform practical advice about dynamic portfolios. In the third study, investors saved less overall during the Covid-19 pandemic and updated their long- and short-term plans differently, addressing a gap that market-level data cannot answer and providing insights into how investors may react to future crises. In the fourth study, parents invest for their children similar to how they invest for themselves and open slightly more accounts for sons than for daughters, highlighting areas where wealth managers must better inform families about how to plan their household finances. Overall, this research documents many micro-level behavioral departures from traditional finance theory and demonstrates how scientific research using industry data can yield surprising discoveries

Full textThe emergence of satellite high-speed internet for the coverage of rural zones is accompanied by numerous technological constraints. The current trend is to use higher frequency bands to release the satellite capacity for users. The increasing frequency requires new considerations especially for filtering needs which become notably strict in terms of performance and integration in small integrated circuits. This work introduces filtering solutions based on high quality factor Substrate Integrated Waveguides (SIW) using a novel 3D transition for a better integration in widely planar Hybrid ICs.The first chapter introduces the study’s context and the different elements justifying the use of the SIW technology. In fact, these structures profit from both the good quality factors of TE-modes propagating in the substrate and the easy fabrication process and integration of planar circuits. However, to increase the SIW quality factor, the substrate’s height should be increased which induces interconnection limitations such as long bond wires with high parasitic effects and large microstrip access lines with discontinuity problems and the propagation of parasitic modes. The adopted approach consists in imagining 3D shapes providing both mode and thickness matching between a microstrip line etched on a thin substrate and a high substrate SIW.The second chapter introduces the different manufacturing processes used for the substrate’s shaping and metallization. Three substrates are considered: Alumina, fused Silica and Cyclo Olefin Polymer COC. Alumina is widely used in space applications and has a well-mastered process. For equivalent dielectric losses, fused silica has a lower permittivity for bigger structures with less manufacturing tolerance sensitivity. Both Alumina and fused silica substrates are shaped using a laser ablation. The reachable substrate’s height using this machining method is relatively low. The polymer solution (COP) is elaborated using a molding process allowing higher substrates heights. The last chapter outlines the design steps of the different solutions and the measurement results of the first prototypes. These results are on the whole encouraging but require further development
