The article analyzes the autobiography of Tit Egorovich Tochilov (1881-1939), a resident of Zimniaia Zolotitsa. In 1935, Tochilov was heavily taxed and deprived of the right to vote. He wrote the autobiography in 1939, after he was levied once again. In this text, Tochilov intended to describe his hard life, which was characterized by roaming and continuous work. Grammars published during the last decades of the Ottoman Empire adopted a comparative method that emphasized the similarities between the Ottoman Turkish, Arabic and Persian languages. This is demonstrated by examples such as the Kavaid-i Osmaniyye (“Ottoman-Turkish Grammar”, 1851) of Ahmet Cevdet and Mehmet Fuat, and the Kavâid-i Lisân-i Türkî (“Grammar of the Ottoman-Turkish Language”, 1892) of Tahir Kenan. Vyazemsky (1792–1878), reflected in his lifetime publications, autobiographical, memoir and epistolary materials preserved in the writer’s archive.
