Abstract:
Lepidii seu Descurainiae Semen, the dried ripe seeds of Descurainia sophia (L.) Webb ex Prantl or Lepidium apetalum Willd., is used widely as a traditional herbal medicine in Northeast Asia. However, seeds of a number of other species have been misidentified as Lepidii seu Descurainiae Semen, and are therefore misused because of morphological similarities among the seeds of these species. To accurately identify Lepidii seu Descurainiae Semen, we investigated the morphology, mucilage reaction, and micromorphology of Lepidii seu Descurainiae Semen and the seeds of other plant species. In order to separate the impurities in vegetable seeds, a tribo-aero-electrostatic separator was designed and manufactured. The data analysis of the pure Descurainia Sophia seed shows that the interaction of the voltage, distance and angle was significant on the weight of the D. Sophia at the level of 1%. To determine and compare the size of the separated seeds, a laser diffraction device with the possibility of analysing the size distribution of the particles was used. The results showed that the best purity (99.5%) with the highest percentage of the relative frequency of the D. Sophia seeds

Abstract In Iran, Descurainia sophia, Malcolmia africana, and Thlaspi arvense are abundantly found as importunate weeds in winter cereal. Understanding the timing of seed germination under natural conditions is crucial for learning how to manage these annual weeds. Therefore, this study was conducted to evaluate the effect of soil burial, dry storage, cold stratification, KNO3, GA3, and scarification on the seed dormancy and germination of these three species. Species had significantly different responses to the treatment. In D. sophia, seeds buried at a depth of 10 cm for 60 days (55%), and s

Avena fatua and Descurainia sophia are two important annual weeds throughout winter rapeseed (Brassica napus L.) production systems in the semiarid region of Iran. Timely and more accurate control of both species may be developed if there is a better understanding of its emergence patterns. Non-linear regression techniques are usually unable to accurately predict field emergence under such environmental conditions. The objectives of this research were to evaluate the emergence patterns of A. fatua and D. sophia and determine if emergence could be predicted using cumulative soil thermal time in

Abstract:
Asthma, a heterogeneous disease of the airways, is common around the world, but little is known about the molecular mechanisms underlying the interactions between DNA methylation and gene expression in relation to this disease. The seeds of Descurainia sophia are traditionally used to treat coughs, asthma and edema, but their effects on asthma have not been investigated by multi-omics analysis. We undertook this study to assess the epigenetic effects of ethanol extract of D. sophia seeds (DSE) in an ovalbumin (OVA)-induced mouse model of asthma.
