Full textEvar is a project degree of 22,5 ECTS credits individually carried out by André Runling during the spring of 2012 at Karlstad University, for a bachelor degree in Innovation technique and Design engineering. The assigner for this project is Johan Larsvall, industrial designer and owner of Idesign in Stockholm. Academic supervisor at Karlstad University has been Lennart Wihk, industrial designer and university lecturer. Examiner has been Fredrik Thuvander, professor and university lecturer. Idesign is a design agency with office on Longholmen in central of Stockholm and is assigned by different companies in different sectors such as, Silva Sweden AB and Trafikverket. Idesign got the task from Trafikverket to make suggestions to concepts of bike lights that increase the use and reliability compared to todays use. The project was initiated by Trafikverket while Idesign were responsible of developing a bike light to Silva. Silva has specialised themselves in head lamps for many years and have seen an opportunity to reach a new market with the collaboration, which resulted in this degree project and development primary to Idesign. The projects first part was to study what is inadequate in today's lighting and why it is not used as much as it should. The study was conducted with a poll and discussions on Swedish forums on the internet. A large part of the project was to compare why the usage looks different and is used more often in Denmark, and also Germany. Germany has a detailed approval of bicycle lights in their traffic regulations which was needed to be interpreted. Using the information gathered, a development of concepts started to a bicycle light that exudes simplicity and appeal to a commuting cyclist, with the idea generation method and product specification which was evaluated in a matrix. Of three concepts that were presented to Idesign, one concept was selected for further processing which developed into a final proposal and description of a bicycle light. The final solution means that the head lamp is powered by a battery, and notifies with a battery indicator when it needs charging, directly into a electrical outlet. With a simple single-hand grip it’s connected in the bracket and, in its turn a buckle, which is mounted steplessly on the bicycle by a strap. It means it can be mounted on any bicycle. While the rear light is supposed to always sit on, have the same type of installation and have an automatic on and off switch via a light and motion detector. It still has a battery indicator to se when batteries should be replaced. Both the front and the rear light is equipped with LED for lighting.

Full textThis thesis deals with the study of Design thinking in the particular context of pro-poor business strategies, and more particularly in the context of the development of inclusive business models at the base of the pyramid of emerging markets. In this context, and as in any new market, multinational companies are increasingly aware that they will have to learn new, radical ways to work for success. Within the framework of inclusive business, companies must develop a new philosophy, new processes, new capabilities, new partnerships and in-depth collaboration with different stakeholders. We propose that the Design thinking method applied to the context of the base of the pyramid can indeed encourage the development of the capabilities of creation of new innovative and inclusive business models and the creation of shared value. An attempt to validate this method in the context of the pyramid was made in two cases of multinational companies: GE-Healthcare and Schneider Electric, which provide unique solutions to the challenges faced by The pyramid in different sectors such as healthcare or energy. By focusing on some of the fundamental principles of design thinking such as human centeredness, co-creation and experimentation, and collaboration, the study tries to validate a set of processes and capabilities that enables the creation of new inclusive business models and the development of fully contextualized innovative solutions to real problems

The Illumination Diode (Light Emitting Diode, LED) was invented in the late 1960s. Since 1990s, LED has been popularly used as substitution for the incandescent lamp bulb on the traffic sign. LED gains popularity because it has 80% savings on electricity consumption, and is low in maintenance service, pure color when compared with a tungsten lamp. In recent years, international oil price surges upwards, the LED lamp gains global attention because of it saves energy and is tiny, eco-friendly and durable, etc. Therefore, LED is regarded as a substitution bulb of first choice. In Taiwan, after more than 30 years of LED development since 2006, the LED industry produces more than 20% of global demand. Taiwan becomes the world’s 2nd largest supplier of LED. On LED crystal grain aspect, Taiwan takes an early lead in supplying of blue light and four-dimension high luminance LED. The annual outputs of these products are approximately 34% and 85% respectively of global demand. Therefore, in the future, Taiwan LED industry will become the biggest global supplier of white light LED. In Taiwan's industrialization history, 1980s Taiwan was once regarded as the world largest exporter of illumination products. During this period, Taiwan’s production facilities are relocated overseas. The illumination industry degenerates into a sunset industry. Because of the rapid growth in the demand of white light LED, the government has regarded the illumination industry to be important and supported it. The illumination industry, has been from a traditional metal processing industry, into an advanced optic-electronic industry nowadays, and has become a primary industry. Together with the solar energy technology, it will become the emerging star industry in 2010. This research, by innovative and systematic design method, designed products by QFD and TRIZ solutions. It substituted LED light bulb for tradition bulb as an example to demonstrate the proposed innovation methods. The development process, from market analysis, Quality Function Deployment (QFD), patent search, TRIZ the creativity stimulation design, and the patent application, is aimed to create white LED lights complying with environmental protection, energy saving and high production efficiency and substituting for the tradition bulb. The results of this research found a new-style patent (ROC patent No. M325450), and gained the golden medal of the International Exhibition of Invention, Geneva, 2009

Due to the global economic development and society change in recent years, the corporations are aiming at low cost in research development, high quality and innovative products. Taking the TFT LCD industry as an example, LCD TV has developed from traditional household appliances to fashionable boutique appliances. The design direction has also changed from general durability and energy saving request advanced to visual aesthetic field. The thin, light and fashionable design of look in TV has become one of the purchasing decision factors from consumers. TRIZ theory is a systematic innovative development process and method. It provides R&D researchers a series of creative ideas and directions in solutions for creative questions in the beginning of developing stage. The tools which apply in this research includes the Contradictions Matrix, 40 Principles, Ideal Final Result, Su-Filed Mode and 76 Standards,to research further in thin and light LED LCM and sum up with 59 design concepts totally. These 59 design concepts were brought up freely without any limitation and under any existing frame, the purpose was to get design concepts from multi viewpoint, however it brings out that the concept might not comprehensive enough to cover design and functionality requirement, those concepts needs to be sift out by using Pugh Method. We based on 12 design concept which was sifted out in the end to produce TRIZ LCM, the weight for TRIZ LCM is 1950g less, about 48% weight reducing, 3.6mm shrinking in thickness, about 35% thickness decreasing. The final process was to proceed reliability test i.e. Shock, vibration and high temp. high humidity biased test to verify new design concept can reach slimness & thinness requirement and keep same performance for original design.

In view of the fact that LED projectors use only three primary RGB colors, while suffered from the shortcoming of low output flux and troublesome cooling system design. We therefore, in this paper add another cyan color spectrum LED to make picture more colorful and brighter in order to extend color gamut and increase output flux as well. Besides, nowadays many researches discussing LED illumination projection system are focused on no more than mixing three colors, to have uniform effect with light guide. An optical component X-cube is then used to get mixing effect by stacking three colors. But these constructures are still too big and the cooling system can be very complicated. Therefore, we design an innovative illumination system in this paper, it is not only achieving same effect and is even richer in color. The total volume is only 95 and the cooling system becomes simpler. We used Lumileds series LED to design the illumination system. We calculated the positions and specification of the interior reflective parts in the light guide, according to the geometrical optics. Finally, we confirmed results using TracePro software and performed to analyze.

It is necessary to take into account users’ physiology and mentality, and to comply with various indexes of lighting for an integrated lighting system of office environment. Although using LED lighting is the current trend of development, the characteristics of LED luminous source differ from those of conventional light source, and the LED lighting related regulations have not been established, therefore, it is inappropriate to directly replace the luminous sources of old lighting fixture. Based on LED lighting fixtures of office, the study brought up innovative designs and created suitable lighting fixtures for office environments in compliance with different characteristics of luminous source to satisfy with the developing directions of lighting, environmental protection, and energy efficiency. Meanwhile, the study tried to introduce the idea of change lighting fixture design with TRIZ Principles, investigate into applications of LED lighting fixture, advocate of modular LED lighting fixtures which were applied in steel-framed bridges of office, examine and review with optical software, and to evaluate its feasibility. Using the collocation of lighting fixture unit with LED single-chip, the study concluded the findings as follows with the optical software of TracePro and DIALux in the same simulative environment: 1. The package of LED luminous source will affect the beam angle of chip, which means that as the lumen value increases, the illumination increases relatively as well. The secondary optical design for LED lighting fixture will affect luminous efficiency. It has been proved that the luminous efficiency will reach a high level of performance when the luminous source of chip is collocated with a perfect mirror that is made of reflection materials, and when the angle of lighting meets the needs of light distribution. 2. It has been found in the simulation result of the study that LED luminous source with low electricity consumption, combining with lighting fixtures, will be upcoming high efficient lighting fixtures. According to Chinese National Standards (CNS), the study suggested that the office lighting with 15W/m2 of energy use intensity will comply with the standards and be improved on a large scale in energy efficiency. 3. Through a planned illumination and space, the users can increase or reduce the number of modular LED lighting fixtures which are designed with TRIZ Principles according to their own needs to improve energy efficiency with the illumination that is accordance with needs of domestic lighting.

Due to the quickly development of 3C products, designers would like to add practicability and pretty on products. Because the requirements of light weight, thin, short, small, saving power and low cost, the light source will select LED and the Circular Light Pipe will use plastic materials by injection molding. In this study, we will focus on designing the illumination device with circular structure and called as LED Circular Light Pipe (CLP). On the market, the common LED CLPs always use more than 2pcs LED and locate symmetrically under the un-designed CLP for the purpose of uniform illumination. In this study, we will use 1pcs LED to design CLP based on TIR principle. The initial angles of TIR beam-splitting structure and micro prisms on CLP will be decided by TIR principle. The numbers, lengths and distribution of micro prisms will be given a set of initial parameters. Then, we will create the initial LED CLP with micro prisms by 3D CAD software Pro/ENGINEER® and analyze the light output results by non-sequential ray tracing software TracePro®. For the better uniformity and saving time to avoid the try and error, we do optimization by Taguchi method.

The biggest challenge for LED with high lighting and high power, however, is the problem of heat dispersing . The life time and lighting efficiency of LED are negatively influenced by the high “Junction Temperature” when the heat from LED cannot be distributed out effectively. Generally speaking, about 70% of LED products are out of order due to the overabound ? high junction temperature, that would reduce the market penetration rate; therefore, The research and development of heat distribution technology for LED products are very important. After thorough survey of Taiwan and US patents, there are totally 711 and 677 patents related to the LED heat distribution technology, respectively. With the detailed patent map drawing and patent analysis, it is found that the technology is during the growth period and the number of the patents and invention are rapidly increasing. Out of these Taiwan patents, 47% is about bench packaging, 34% is about off-the-shelf module and 19% is about package material and structure. For US patents 31% is about bench packaging, 43% is about off-the-shelf module and 26% is about package material and structure. It is observed that the focus of the technology development of Taiwan and US is different. After patent survey and analysis, the patent, " An LED hest distribution device with heat tubes" (patent number: TWM 295889), was chosen as the candidate for our study about avoidance design due to its most widely employed and referenced property. After analyzing the range of patent claims, we achieved the innovation design for LED heat distribution technology by proposing the design problems, constructing the contradiction matrix through TRIZ theory, utilizing the technology innovation method and examine patent avoidance. The process is a technology innovation example for the related industrial.

We propose an innovative vehicle headlight design based on high efficiency LED light pipe system. In this system, light rays are emitted from multiple high-power LEDs within the Total Internal Reflection (TIR) lenses. After TIR Lens, the beam will be divided into two beams by the prism splitter and guided to their respective headlamps with corresponding light pipes. This proposed system is intended to use few LEDs to supply enough luminous and can reduce the quantity of TIR lens. Detailed geometric analysis of the system is given, and the simulation results show that the headlamp can produce a legal Economic Commission for Europe (ECE) low-beam pattern with a total optical efficiency up to 40.2% with four LEDs (Lumileds-K2, 5W 120lm) as a source.

Conventional DEMATEL (Decision Making Trial and Evaluation Laboratory) determines degrees of influence at 0~4 scale (0 = no influence; 1 = low influence; 2 = middle influence; 3 = high influence; 4 =extreme influence)by collecting experts’ opinions through questionnaires. But the study proposes a modified DEMATEL that evaluates the mutual influence among 0~4 scales through the concept of normalized numerical value. Normalized numerical value is a ratio of the number of times for appearance of important technical, functional and component keywords, which are obtained from term and word segmentation system, in multiple patent technique documents, to the total number of words in the entire texts of the patent groups with high relativity.First of all, the study takes LED reading lamp for example, and preliminarily classifies its techniques into 7 most important technical standards. Through the related technical words that each standard has and their normalized numerical values, the study firstly calculates the normalized numerical values of repeated technical words among the standards or those having the same definitions. Then the study calculates the ratios of the normalized values among the standards. Based on the ratios calculated, the study assesses the determined mutual influence scales 0~4 among the standards. After that, following the calculation procedures of DEMATEL, the study finds out the general relational influence matrix, direct/indirect relationship diagram, and the causal diagram. The causal diagram can help judge the degree of mutual influence among the standards, and judge which standards belong to more core technical standards. Then the study adds the modified DEMATEL’s calculating the general relational influence matrix to the modified ANP (Analytic Hierarchy Process) to form a modified DANP. Focusing on 3 design improvement plans of LED reading lamp, the study makes a priority order of selection, compares the prioritized design improvement plans obtained respectively from modified DANP and ANP. Through modified DAMATEL assist modified ANP of modified DANP the study makes a priority order of selection calculation results meets the actual circs better. After operation of modified DANP of LED reading lamp, the study practically applies the modified DANP to LED bicycle light. After making the related literature review of LED bicycle light products and analysis of different patents, the study regards support structure, clamping part, heat dissipation fins, heat conduction structure, lamp hood, internal configuration of LED light source, and power supply device as the most important technical evaluation standards for selection of product design plan. After that, the study uses the cause and effect diagram, acquired from analysis by modified DEMATEL, to explain the importance and relativity of 7 technical standards. It is found that power supply device is a more independent standard, and has lower degree of influence than other standards. Therefore, the study’s modified DANP does not list power supply device in the priority order of selection for innovative plans. The study preliminarily determines 3 main techniques to be improved for LED bicycle light, by modified DANP steps to Calculate 3 priority order of selection for innovative plans to compare with modified ANP. Finally, the priority of weights for the 3 innovative design plans are obtained from algorithm. The priority order of weights is: Plan B > Plan C > Plan A . That is Plan B’s “design of support structure + main structure of LED light source.” It best meets the optimal product design plan of LED bicycle light. After making research on the priority order of selection via DANP, the study uses modified TRIZ invention method to improve innovative designs. The study makes improvement in the fast structure dismantling design of support-connected bicycle light, which is related to design of support structure in the innovative design plan B , as well as the light reflected hood in the internal configuration of LED light source, which is related to main structure of LED light source in Plan B. Here two improvement results of innovative design are acquired. Finally, the study acquires the new design of LED bicycle light.

Taking LED reading lamp for example, the study develops a modified fuzzy decision-making trial and evaluation laboratory analysis (fuzzy DEMATEL) method, which is preliminarily classified into seven most important technical criteria, and adopted through the related technical words in each criterion and their normalized numerical values. Normalized numerical value is the ratio of appearance frequency of important techniques, functions and component keywords in multiple patent technique documents obtained through term and word segmentation system, to the total number of words of the patent group with high relativity. The normalized numerical values of repeated technical words or those with the same definition in various criteria are calculated first, and then the percentage of the normalized numerical values in various criteria is calculated. According to the calculated percentage of the normalized numerical values, fuzzy set is matched with trigonometric membership function in order to determine that the gap between percentage values is located at the fuzzy zone where two triangles intersect. The α-cut concept is employed to calculate the fuzzy value. Then the paper evaluates the value determining the value of the extent of mutual influence 0~4 among criteria. After that, according to the modified DEMATEL computing steps, the paper finds the general relational influence matrix, direct/indirection relationship diagram and causal diagram, completing the steps of the modified fuzzy DEMATEL. Causal diagram can help judge the extent of mutual influence among criteria and which criteria belong to more important technical criteria. The general relational influence matrix of the modified fuzzy DEMATEL is added to the modified analysis network process (modified ANP) to form the modified fuzzy DANP. Focusing on the three design improvement projects of LED reading lamp, the study compares and analyzes the prioritized design improvement projects acquired by the modified fuzzy DANP and the modified DANP respectively. The calculation result of priority order for selection acquired by the modified fuzzy DANP of the modified ANP with assistance from the modified fuzzy DANP better meets the real situation. Besides, the study also practically applies the modified fuzzy DANP to LED projection light. Through exploration of the related literatures and patents of LED projection light products and analysis of different patents, the first-layer techniques of LED projection light is divided into three major techniques: 1. heat dissipation structure of light; 2. main body structure of LED light source; and 3. overall support structure. The second-layer techniques are divided into seven techniques, namely support design, base structure, fin design, heat conduction structure, LED lampshade design, LED light source structure configuration, and electronic component control technique. These seven techniques are taken as the most important technical evaluation criteria for selection of product design projects. After that, the causal diagram analyzed through the modified fuzzy DEMATEL explains the significance of and relativity between the above seven technical criteria. The study clusters the three main first-layer techniques of LED projection light to be three innovative design projects with dependence, and employs the modified fuzzy DANP steps to calculate the priority order of three innovative design projects for selection. Finally, through algorithm, the priority values for the three innovative design projects of LED projection light are obtained, with the order of priority values being Project B > Project C > Project A. It implies that Project B’s “overall structure of light + main body structure of LED light source” is the most prioritized choice of innovatively improved product design project of LED projection light. After studying the priority order for selection acquired by the modified fuzzy DANP, the study further uses the modified TRIZ invention method to make innovative improvement design. The design of support design relating to the innovative design Project B’s overall structure design is improved, and another innovative improvement design is made for the light reflecting lampshade for internal configuration of LED light source, relating to the main body structure of LED light source, thus resulting in two innovative improvement designs. Finally, a new design of LED projection light is acquired.

Light emitting diode (LED) is a solid state semiconductor luminescence device and demonstrates a number of benefits compared to traditional incandescent lamps. With further improvement LEDs have a great potential to become the next generation of general illumination source. Unfortunately, the thermal problem caused by the LED itself is still a bottleneck to limit the stability, reliability and lifetime of LED. In traditional, the technologies of solving the heat-dissipation problem for LED, including: heat sink, heat pipe, loop heat pipe, adding isothermal vapor chamber, and adhering cooling chip, etc. In the public application, all of these methods are exhausting the waste heat into the environment and cause the more serious greenhouse effect. However, the thermoelectric generator can directly convert the electricity to thermal energy for cooling or transform the waste heat into electric power. Hence, the thermoelectric generator is increasingly seen as having the potential to make important contributions to solve the thermal problem. Based on the statement mentioned in the above, the thermoelectric generator is the core of thermoelectric transformation in this study, which utilizes the temperature difference between the hot end and cold end to generate the available power energy. First, the LED heat energy absorbed by the heat-absorption layer and then conducted by the heat-conduction materials will reach the hot side of thermoelectric chip. In the cold side of thermoelectric chip, the different heat-dissipation materials will be effectively designed to act the heat-dissipation role and ensure the temperature difference between the hot side and cold side is large enough. Finally, the LED thermoelectric module is completed. The experimental evidence indicates that the thermoelectric generator indeed acts the kernel technology for waste heat transformed into renewable electricity. Through integrating the thermoelectric generator with heat-absorption material, heat-conduction material, and heat-dissipation material, it not only could lead high brightness 10W LED light bulb to reach the lowest LED junction temperature (71℃), but also produce the renewable electricity (104.44mW) by transforming the waste heat from high brightness LED.

Taking LED reading lamp as a carrier of design correction, the study searches the related knowledge and information from the existing journals, patent documents and research thesises about LED reading lamp, and then classifies the techniques functions of LED reading lamp into heat dissipation, overall structural design and main structure of LED light source. Each plan contains two modified techniques for heat dissipation, overall structural design and main structure of LED light source of LED reading lamp respectively. The priority order of these three innovation plans is determined after comparison by modified fuzzy analytic network process (fuzzy ANP) and ANP. In this study, when the numerical difference between normalized numerical values is greater, a greater proportion for distribution is taken as the importance scale for one unit. If the numerical difference between normalized numerical values is smaller, a smaller proportion for distribution is taken as the importance scale. Having attached triangular membership function to modified fuzzy ANP, it is determined that normalized difference is situated at the fuzzy zone where two triangles intersect. Employing α-cut concept, if membership function is α≧0.5, it belongs to 1; and if membership function is α<0.5, it belongs to 0. As verified from the comparative results, the comparative result of modified fuzzy ANP is better than the plan determined by ANP. Therefore, the paper employs modified fuzzy ANP to determine the priority order of innovation plans, and hence uses modified fuzzy ANP for the carrier, LED standing/desk lamp. The case study preliminarily focuses on three techniques to be improved in fuzzy ANP plan of LED standing/desk lamp, namely overall structure of standing/desk lamp, heat dissipation of standing/desk lamp, and main structure of LED light source. Plan A is divided into “heat dissipation of standing/desk lamp + overall structure of standing/desk lamp.” Plan B is divided into “overall structure of standing/desk lamp + main structure of LED light source.” Plan C is divided into “heat dissipation of standing/desk lamp + main structure of LED light source.” After exploration of different references and patents about standing/desk lamp products, the study takes extendable rod, connector, heat dissipation fin, heat sink, light source, light bulb shape and lamp shade as the important evaluation standards for selection of product design plan. The study adds in position weight concept for calculation of normalized numerical values, improving the original normalized numerical values and making the decisions of innovation plan more precise. First of all, hierarchical relationship is established for objectives and evaluation criteria attributes. Meanwhile, the study considers the mutual effects of different criteria attributes, and develops them as a network structure. After that, modified fuzzy ANP has to consider the internal interdependence among the various evaluation criteria. Therefore, the study adopts the keywords searched from retrieval of patents’ technical words and the proportion normalized value calculated by position weight concept of the keywords appeared in this technique, and also the same patents’ keywords if found in the related technical patents. Then the study can use this way to judge the interdependence among the evaluation criteria. Finally, comparison of relative importance is made based on the internal interdependence among different plans. As to judgment of relative importance scale proportion of the internal interdependence among different plans, it adds up the proportions of normalized value, calculated by position weight concept, of the key technical words with internal interdependence among the evaluation criteria of two innovation techniques to be compared in the plan. The sum is substituted in the pairwise comparison matrix formed after comparing the relative importance of different items. Furthermore, each weight value and feature vector are calculated. Using the developed modified fuzzy ANP, the paper substitutes the pairwise comparison matrix, formed after comparing the relative importance of different items, in its supermatrix, and calculates the prioritized weight value. Finally, the paper uses the prioritized weight values calculated by different innovation plans to make selection and strategic decision for product plans, and decide the priority order of innovation plans. Finally, after calculation, the prioritized weight values of three technical design plans. The priority order of importance for the three plans is: Plan C > Plan B > Plan A. The plan with the highest weight value is just the best choice of plan. It implies that Plan C is the best product design plan for LED standing/desk lam after selection. According to the above research results, this study further uses the modified TRIZ invention method to improve innovation techniques. Focusing on the two techniques of Plan C, improvement of innovation techniques can be made in order to save the time required by staff in development of new products.

The paper mainly takes LED reading light as the major carrier of design improvement. LED reading light is an auxiliary lighting device for operators to use during reading, or use of notebook computer or desktop computer in the office or at home for learning at night or in any place with dim and insufficient light. First of all, the study searches the knowledge document information from the existing journals, periodicals, patent documents and research papers about LED reading light. After that, the paper performs classification of the technical functions of LED reading light, including its heat dissipation, overall structural design and high-effect optical system. Then, referring to the heat dissipation structure, overall structure, and the forms of reflector and optical cover written in the related patent and knowledge documents, the paper defines the improvement requirements needed. Furthermore, the paper uses TRIZ as a basis for development of an innovative method for product design. Using modified TRIZ invention method, the paper implements innovative design and research and development (R&D) for the heat dissipation, overall structural design and LED light-source body of LED reading light. Regarding the LED reading light project of the paper, the design improvement concept by modified TRIZ invention method is adopted to produce 3 innovative projects. Each of the projects contain 2 kinds of the improvement techniques we focus on, including the heat dissipation, overall structural design and LED light-source body of LED reading light. These 3 innovative projects employ modified analytic network process (ANP) method to determine the priority order of the 3 innovative projects. For the modified ANP method of the paper, hierarchical relationship is firstly established between goals and evaluation criteria attributes. Meanwhile, in consideration of the mutual effects among different criteria attributes, the paper develops it to be a network structure. Besides, the paper proposes referring to several technical documents and references about patents, to consider the appearance frequency and normalization ratios of the relevant technical terms corresponding to the various functions of LED reading light, including its heat dissipation, overall structural design and LED light-source body. The study firstly compares the relative importance among different evaluation criteria, and judges the relative importance scale according to normalization ratios of technical terms. If the numerical distance during comparison of normalization ratios is greater, a greater ratio is used to distribute a unit importance scale. If the numerical distance during comparison of normalization ratios is smaller, a smaller ratio is used to distribute importance scale. If it exceeds the determined ratio to make comparison, a unit importance scale is increased. After all the relative importance scales are compared, pairwise comparison matrices are formed, and weights are calculated. Consistency test is taken to judge whether the rating values are acceptable. After that, ANP has to consider the internal interdependence among different evaluation criteria. Therefore, the study adopts the normalization ratio of the keywords searched from retrieval of patents’ technical terms, to the appearance frequency of keywords of this technique. If the same keywords of patents are found in related technical patents, the interdependence among evaluation criteria can be judged. Finally, comparison of relative importance is made on internal interdependence among different projects. As to judgment of relative importance scale ratio of internal interdependence among different projects, the paper finds the sum of normalization ratios of key technical terms with internal interdependence among evaluation criteria to be compared between 2 innovative techniques. The sum is substituted in the pairwise comparison matrix formed by comparison of relative importance among different items. Furthermore, the various weights and feature vectors are calculated. Using the paper’s modified ANP method, the pairwise comparison matrix resulted from comparison of relative importance among different items is substituted in its super matrix, and prioritized weights are calculated. Finally, prioritized weights are calculated by different innovative projects to undergo selection and strategic decision of product project, so as to determine the priority order of innovative projects. As shown in the research results of the study, combination of modified TRIZ invention method with modified ANP method to determine the priority order of innovative R&D projects of products can effectively help R&D staff to make strategic decision and reduce the time required for R&D.
