Abstract:
Optimisation of a geodetic network is performed to provide its pre-set quality requirements. Today, this procedure is almost run with the aid of developed analytical approaches, where the human intervention in the process cycle is limited to defining the criteria. The existing complication of optimisation problem was terminated by classifying it into several stages. By performing these steps, we aim to design a network with the best datum, configuration and the observation weights, which meets the precision, reliability and cost criteria.

Design for process flexibility is an industrially important topic so it is not surprising that it is attracting much research work. Given the size of the problem it is also not surprising that workers have concentrated on heat exchanger networks, which can be considered to be a self-contained sub-problem. Unfortunately, recent research has suffered from a number of major drawbacks. Problem formulation has often been unrealistic. Proposed procedures tend to be 'clinical' rather than practical. Stability of the network is guaranteed if the dynamics of each local area of the network satisfies a globally specified protocol. For networks of single-input-single-output systems with a bipartite interconnection structure the protocol takes the form of a graphical Nyquist type test.
