The concentration of heavy metal levels (Cd, Cu, Hg, Ni, Pb, and Zn) were assessed in water samples from Panvel creek, District Raigad, Maharashtra, West Coast of India. The heavy metals were analysed by using Inductively Coupled Plasma Atomic Emission Spectroscopy (ICP-AES). Results of the study reveal that, Cu, Ni, Zn, and Hg were detected in water samples of Panvel creek whereas Pb and Cd were not reported. Levels of Cu range from not detectable to 0.037 ppm whereas concentration of Ni varies from not detectable to 0.048. Zn is the only metal which is consistently detected at both the sites

A pump-probe thermal lens instrument was constructed, evaluated, and applied to the determination of metals after extraction with dithizone in carbon tetrachloride. An argon-ion laser operated at 514.5 nm, with a power of just 22 mW at the cuvette position and chopped at 2 Hz, and a He-Ne laser were used as a pump and probe, respectively. The thermal lens effect was measured by a pinhole-photodiode and a lock-in amplifier. Evaluation of the setup with an iodine solution in carbon tetrachloride gave a minimum detectable absorbance of 5 × 10−6 (S/N = 3), the upper limit of the dynamic range bein

There have been detectable significant variations in the concentrations of trace metals in normal and cancerous tissues suggesting that these variations could be a causative factor to various cancers. Even though essential trace metals play an important role such as stabilizers, enzyme cofactors, elements of structure, and essential elements for normal hormonal functions, their imbalanced toxic effects contribute to the rate of the reactive oxygen species (ROS) and formation of complexities in the body c

The basis of the methodology for the minimum detectable slit width stems from the noise statistics in the images and a minimum detectable contrast-to-noise ratio (CNR) of 3.
