Severe drought events have raised concerns regarding their effects on the phenological cycles of forest species. This study evaluates the correspondence between in situ phenophases and those detected by an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) in tree species coexisting within a mixed forest, with particular attention to their relationship with climatic variables. Based on 12 consecutive monthly field observations, we compared phenological developments with UAV-derived normalized difference vegetation index (NDVI) values, which were then correlated with environmental variables. Density distribution functions for rut depths, stripping inflection points, and rutting resistance index (RRI) values used in the HWTT were obtained for mixtures with different nominal maximum aggregate size (NMAS) values and binder performance grades. Clear distinctions among the rut depth distributions for the high-temperature performance grade mixtures were observed in the laboratory-compacted specimens

Thermal analysis methods - such as TGA, DSC analysis, DTA, and TDS analysis - have been used in many reports to determine the activation energy for hydride decomposition. In our preceding work, we showed that the dehydriding rate of Mg-5Ni samples obeyed the first-order law and the Kissinger equation could thus be used to determine the activation energy. In the present work, we used the Mg-5Ni samples after activation. We obtained Tm at different heating rates by finding the temperature at which the ratio of the desorbed hydrogen quantity Hd change to T change, dHd/dT, was the highest from the

Laurel wilt (Lw) is a very destructive disease and poses a serious threat to the commercial production of avocado in Florida, USA. External symptoms of Lw are similar to those that are caused by other diseases and disorders. A rapid technique to distinguish Lw infected avocado from healthy trees and trees with other abiotic stressors is presented in this paper. A novel method was developed to analyze data from hyperspectral data using finite difference approximation (FDA) and bivariate correlation (BC) to discriminate Lw, Nitrogen (N), and Iron (Fe) deficiencies from healthy avocado plants. The use of integral abutment bridges with abutments supported on steel H-piles has become common practice in a number of states. These H-piles are subjected to various combinations of axial load and bending moment as the bridge undergoes temperature change. One commonly used approach to the design of these H-piles is, first, to perform an analysis to estimate the distance between inflection points on a pile and, second, to apply the AASHTO or AISC column design equations to the design of the pile. This approach neglects any lateral support provided by the soil between inflection points.Tests w

The Hough transform is commonly used for detecting linear features within an image. A line is mapped to a peak within parameter space corresponding to the parameters of the line. By analysing the shape of the peak, or peak locus, within parameter space, it is possible to also use the line Hough transform to detect or analyse arbitrary (non-parametric) curves. It is shown that there is a one-to-one relationship between the curve in image space, and the peak locus in parameter space, enabling the complete curve to be reconstructed from its peak locus.
