Eighty male undergraduate students were randomly assigned to one of five groups in an analogue investigation of crime-intoxication on the physiological detection of deception. Sixty-four of the subjects committed a mock crime and half of these were legally intoxicated during the crime. Sixteen subjects committed no crime and served as innocent controls. This two-part study of the criminal investigation process first evaluated the frequency with which patrol officers solve cases assigned to the investigations division and then examined how detectives spent their time, both on case assignments and on other activity not related to current case assignment. 2017 - 2018<br>Mystery novels and literary geography have not often intersected. Crime fiction, for instance, has frequently been examined in terms of temporality, rather than in terms of spatiality. Todorov, in this respect, argues that crime narratives, in particular the clue-puzzle forms, are constructed on a temporal duality: the story of the crime – tells what really happened, and the story of the detective’s investigation – the way the detective/narrator presents it to the reader.
