Habba, Badr. "L'évaluation des banques : les déterminants systématiques et fondamentaux du coût du capital." Bordeaux 4, 2008. http://www.theses.fr/2008BOR40032.
Full textThis thesis focuses on the systematic and fundamental determinants of banks' cost of capital and their influences on the market value of these institutions. Part one presents a literature review of the major risks affecting bank valuation. The aim of the theoretical and empirical works presented in the first two chapters is to identify potential determinants of banks' cost of capital. In the second part, we realize two empirical studies. The objective of the firts empirical study is twofold. Firts we estimate a multifactoe model of bank stock returns that incorporates market return interest rate risk, exchange rate risk and macroeconomic credit risk factor. Second, we investigate the relationship between hedging banking risks and bank stock returns. The empirical results show the existence of specific sensitivities not reflected in the traditional market risk incorporated by Capital Asset Pricing Model. Moreover, high levels of capital adequacy or diversification are perceived by investors as being better protected against bank risks. The second empirical study examines the influence of the individual bank fudamental variables on the banks' cost of capital and bank valuation. The results show that there is a very significant influence of the quality of bank loan portfolios, level of capital adequacy, level of functional diversification, operational performance, and size on the bank market value

Full textCollective interactions are recurrent in microbes, though paradoxical with respect to natural selection: individual traits that support sociality are costly, hence prone to exploitation by noncarriers. Among the many related theoretical models, most overlook the physical process of group formation, relying on static and idealized formulations. In a 1st part, I design a general formal framework describing the evolutionary dynamics of a social trait that enhances individual propensity to interact as well as aggregates cohesion. I show that, under some conditions on the group size distributions experienced by the social and asocial types, socials may get positively assorted with no recognition ability, but merely as a mechanical consequence of them being more aggregation-prone, suggesting a weaker requirement (differential attachment) for their success than usually assumed (preferential attachment). In a 2nd part, I substantiate this proof of principle implementing a biologically relevant computational model for aggregation, where individuals exert interaction forces on each other whose intensities depend on their type. I show that the emergence and maintenance of sociality is compatible with such group formation processes, and specify under which conditions on the microscopic parameters of motion and ecological parameters. This work suggests a parsimonious, elementary scenario for the evolution of sociality in groups of arbitrary sizes bereft of high-level cognitive abilities and interaction with kins. It might shed light both on the evolutionary determinants of social structure in species such as dictyostelids and myxobacteria, and on the possible origins of multicellularity

Full textMixed products (i. E. , hedonic products to which utilitarian attributes have been added or subtracted), have been gaining market share in the last few years, in a context where consumers are increasingly concerned with their health and weight. Yet, in spite of a number of successful launching, companies are also facing many failures. In fact, positioning and promoting these products is challenging since they combine attributes that are contradictory to consumers, such as tastiness and healthiness (Raghunathan, Naylor et Hoyer, 2006). However, the literature does not reflect the importance of this challenge. Research have mainly focused on characterizing hedonic versus utilitarian consumption and also on understanding the consequences – also emotional – of choosing a hedonic versus utilitarian product, and visa versa (Khan, Dhar and Wertenbroch, 2005). Moreover, this line of research is based on binary choices (the product tested is either mainly hedonic or mainly utilitarian) and suggests that the hedonic versus utilitarian perceptions can be represented in a bipolar continuum (Dhar and Simonson, 1999; Khan and Dhar, 2006 ; Okada, 2005 ; Shiv and Fedorikhin, 1999). Yet, consumers are daily confronted to options that are far more complex and therefore it seems interesting to consider products which are not only predominantly hedonic or utilitarian, but also products that vary in terms of "mixity" in term of these two dimensions. The main goal of this research was therefore to explore the determinants of attitudes, choice and consumption of these mixed products. More specifically, we investigated the influence of a particular emotion - guilt - and hedonic and utilitarian motivations in the attitudes, choice and consumption of mixed food products. The first phase of this research studied consumers’ attitudes towards mixed products. In order to achieve this goal, we first conducted a qualitative study (Study 1), which allowed us to highlight the importance of the dimension guilt related dimension. Second, based on the results of the qualitative study and on a literature review, we proposed and tested, via an internet quantitative study (study 2), a conceptual model that confirms the role of guilt in the formation of attitudes towards mixed products. The second phase of this research explored the process underlying choice and consumption of the mixed products. Based on the literature review and on results of the first two studies, we proposed and tested a model that highlights the role of guilt and hedonic versus utilitarian motivations in these processes. More specifically, we conducted two experiments using real products and we show that guilt can be activated by the characteristics of choice set in which the product mixed is inserted and by the presence of nutritional information. The presence (versus absence) of this emotion leads individuals to redefine their motivational priorities (hedonic versus utilitarian) and, subsequently, influence the choice and amount of mixed product consumed. First, the results of Study 3 indicate that in a hedonic context (when the mixed product is presented near a hedonic product), the choice of the mixed option is guided by the guilt activated by the choice context and by a utilitarian motivation: so that participants control the amount consumed (serving a smaller quantity of the mixed product compared to the utilitarian context). Conversely, in a utilitarian context (when the mixed product is presented near a utilitarian product), guilt is less present and, therefore, the choice of the mixed product is guided by a hedonic motivation, which leads participants to serve a larger quantity of this product (relative to the hedonic context). These effects are more important for women and for restrained eaters. In Study 4, the guilt was activated via the presence of nutritional information. Significant results were obtained only for consumption (not for choice). Our results show that the presence of guilt in the utilitarian context can eliminate the overconsumption observed in Study 3, however, no significant changes observed in the hedonic context

Full textThe leading question of this thesis is : why teachers in primary schools teach the way they do? More precisely: how can their practices be sociologically described? Those questions are examined through a socio-historic approach of the teaching function in primary school. Principles structuring teaching practices can indeed be caught by describing the organisation of teaching, the historical evolution of the teaching profession and its relation to norms in the profession and vocational training. The understanding of these principles is based on methodical observation of actual practices and on the representations of their own practices by teachers. Confrontation of observed practices and views expressed on practices during interviews is at the centre of this research

Full textThis research is situated in the framework of the french educational system. It examines in the first place the historical evolution of formative evaluation concept, since its invention by m. Scriven in 1967 and its place of origine : the training of adults in north american companies. This time and this environment have konowed the concept of formative evaluation from behaviorism and taylorism. Consequently we will have to trace this praxis of formative evaluation which is inspired both by new learning and communication theories, by decisionel models of d. Stufflebeam and by situational management. Refinding in this way, m. Scriven's original theory : "the goal of evaluation is always the same - to judge the value of objectives" ; and not as determining whether objectives have been achieved. The systemic approach on one hand, the theorizing of a praxis of teaching and teacher training on the hand, serve as methodologies for this study

Full textLife long learning appears as a major concern for our societies. After leaving the educational system, learning can imply returning to school or continuing education. Academic careers in France seem less and less linear. Young peopleare encouraged to make the most of college breaks in order to diversify their experiences. During their career, they are to be trained to « be free to choose their professional future », as mentions a new law. This thesis, then, aims atidentifying the reasons why people go back to training and at stuying how such returns are seen by the labor market. This work includes a preliminary chapter and three other chapters, each with specific data. Based on a literature review, the preliminary chapter investigates the reasons why people go back to school or choose training. We analyze the theoretical conditions explaining the way such experiences are seen by the labor market. The data of the first chapter are from the Céreq “Génération 98” survey, which tracks formal education leavers during tenyears. Such a longitudinal survey enables the study of the impact of non-linear pathways on recent graduates salaries, thanks to the instrumental variables method. Recent graduates with post-secondary education interruption receive alower salary than their peers, ceteris paribus – even with high social and academic profile and good relational skills. This seems to confirm the hypothesis of a negative signal to the employers. The results of the first chapter lead us into the second part where we investigate the promotion of atypical academic careers by the labor market. We surveyed recruitment consultants with the factorial survey method in order to understand how they perceive such careers. More than a thousand CVs were evaluated by the consultants according to the probability of them giving a job interview. Our econometric analysis shows that the absence of details about temporary education interruption seem detrimental, ceteris paribus. Facing the lack of information, recruitment consultants would not take the risk of hiring a candidate who has been non-working. Although, this large signal effect does not apply if the candidate mentions a trip abroad or a “service civique” during the academic career. In the third part we try to understand what determines a reinvestment in training – but only for working employees. We use the “Defis” survey lead by the Céreq. The data are from employees and companies questionnaires. Our results show that very few variables seem to impact the chance for an employee to seek training. Likewise, accessing to optional training seems to rely on individual motives and on job characteristics – even though company features do matter. This fact increases the inequality in training accessibility. Using a DID matching method shows that this type of training doesn’t seem to increase salaries

Full textHumankind is facing many environmental problems nowadays: diverse forms of pollution, climate warming, desertification, floods, waste accumulation, water scarcity, progressive extinction of animal and plant species etc. To deal with these problems, diverse activities and initiatives are carried out, at local, national, sub-regional, regional and international levels. Among these, is the negotiation of international conventions in the area of environment. The current thesis sets about two folds: firstly, it analyses the justifications of the negotiation as it lays on non-legal and legal determinants. Secondly, it assesses the negotiations issue as these are played between conflicts of interest and seeking of consensus. The thesis identifies elements, factors and key stakeholders that have effect on decisions and positions taken in the sphere of international negotiations. Thus, the negotiations of environmental treaties are both the expression of a classical practice for adopting international commitments and of a particular context for environmental thematic, at the crossroads, precisely of law, economy, politics and social. Then, it can be said that consensus more than confrontation, general principles more than strict obligations, are sought. The assessment to be made is that the negotiation of environmental treaties remains an activity which is not only useful but also necessary as it seeks to respond to the problems considered above, as they occur, looking for appropriate and strict legal frameworks

The different theoretical currents treating the behavior of individuals towards the technological innovation utilization permit to identify variables that influence the adoption of e-learning. This study is focused on the model of the Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology elaborated by Venkatesh and Davis (2003). This model contains individual and organizational factors. Empirical study is conducted on a sample of 392 Tunisian postal workers. Factor analysis and structural equations were used. Our results show that the adoption of e-learning in the post is influenced primarily by the self-image, technical assistance and perceived ease of use. As for the involvement of senior management and influence colleagues, they are two variables that were most significant respectively at the unregistered and registered

Full textThe research work carried out in the framework of this thesis aims at assessing projects and strategies as explanatory factors in attitudes towards training. The analysis and interpretation of the resultats have allowed us to distinguish differentiated attitudes. Positive attitudes are observed whenever achievement of project requires the acquisition of a skill the candidate did not have. Three variants have been pointed out. In the first one, the individual remains tributary to an offer of training officially presented to him. In the second, the individual initiates a request for training. In the third, the individual requests training and independently understates steps to seek it in the anticipation of achieving his project. An attitude of refusal towards training is encountered whenever it is felt to affect the individual identity. The results obtained allow us assert that the simple existence of project does not in itself automatically engender a positive towards training. The use of that training as part of a strategy and the involvement in it do indeed depend on the nature of the project

At first speeches related to these techniques went along with fanciful acclaims boating the marvel of a new age of universal knowledge, individual freedom and responsibility regarding the self training. However, years have been passing by ever since and now these training purviews are facing many types of conflict, particularly among the trainees. From the observations made into a students class group belonging to a Business School this thesis is proposing an analysis of the appropriate environment and the psychological conditions that develop satisfaction feelings among the trainees in the context of an autonomous apprenticeship. This study consist of a cluster analysis based upon a questionnaire and some descriptive analysis of the, major inward and outward satisfaction determinants, of the competency and personal development feelings, of the personal autonomy impressions of a valuable commitment. It also consist of the analysis of the social integration process of these techniques

Full textThe HTLV-I gag gene encodes the internal structural proteins of the virion. It is expressed as a polyprotein, Gag precursor, which is clived by the viral protease to generate the MA, CA and NC mature proteins. Expression of Gag alone leads to the assembly and release of non infectious virus-like particles. We have used this expression system to identify HTLV-I Gag domains involved in particle formation. First of all, we hav characterized these virus-like particles. Then, we focused on the role of the MA and CA proteins in particle assembly. In vivo, the Gag precursor and MA protein were assembled as disulfide-linked homodimers. This covalent MA dimerization was also demonqtrated in native HTLV-I virions. With these information, we proposed a model of assembly of retroviral particles based on the formation of Gag-Gag or MA-MA homodimers. In addition, we have shown that myristylation of Gag N-terminal glycine was required for the targeting and the binding of the polyprotein to the plasma membrane as well as for its assembly as covalent dimers. An extensive study of different CA sites allowed us to show that, contrary to HIV-1, the integrity of the N-terminal domain of the CA protein is required for particle formation and that it plays a major role in Gag interactions

Full textListeria monocytogenes is a foodborne pathogenic bacteria responsible for listeriosis, a rare but high mortality rate disease in humans (25 %). This bacterium can form biofilm allowing a better resistance to environmental stresses as well as decontamination treatments. A new strategy for genomic analysis was developed and allowed to target secretion systems and proteins potentially involved in biofilm formation. Inactivation of the SecA2 pathway leads to the formation of an aerial and fragile biofilm. This morphotype is able to grow in a sessile mode at 20 °C on polystyrene whereas this is not the case for the wild type strain. New proteins secreted in a SecA2 manner were identified by comparing the ΔsecA2 exoproteome to the one of the wild type. The role of lipoproteins in biofilm formation and their maturation by the signal peptidase II, LpsA and LspB, was also tackled. Combining expression analysis of genes encoding lipoproteins during biofilm formation with genomic analysis based on the secretome allowed targeting three lipoproteins, including LpeA, which appeared to be involved in the later stages of biofilm formation. Finally, the importance of LspA in the maturation of lipoproteins, was highlighted by comparing of the double mutant ΔlgtΔlspA and ΔlgtΔlspB exoproteomes to the one of Δlgt

Full textAlthough the intensification of cognitive stakes is one of more important evolution of french collective bargaining (Bévort,Jobert, 2008), the « knowledge practises » (Mias, 2013) aiming at providing the union work with tools for a betterassessment of collective agreement are seldom considered as a subject of research, at a time when understanding their modeof appropriation require a broader questioning about the contemporary transformation of professional relationship. Basedon this assumption, this study examines the institutionalisation of the joint evaluation policy from an ethnographicperspective. The latter was initiated in 2009 on a national and interbranch level in the field of vocational training. The firstpart deals with the condition for the emergence of evaluation as a political issue on the hand and the problem related to itsopérations on the other hand. These processus are viewed in the light of the power relationship between actors (socialpartners, state) within a context of recomposition of political and financial mode of régulation regarding the vocationaltraining funding. The second part describes the « organizational work » (Terssac de, 2003) for the evaluation within theinterbranch joint institutions. It offers a monographic analysis of the national council of vocational training evaluation(CNEFP), the body of joint evaluation. This study is illustrated by three case studies highlighting ans updating theconstraints related to the evaluation practices, but also the learning dynamics consequences. The third conclusive partexamines the deterioration of the CNEFP 's institutional positioning. Several factors are fingerpointed such as the lesseningof union and employers commitment, the rivalry among the various levels of joint policy and also the institutional instabilityon a context of rapprochment between employement policy, vocational training and orienteering governing bodies.Ultimately, according to research results, it’s the « decline of joint policy » organization (Luttringer, 2008) in aid of statetaking over the regulation of system that is debated

First of all, the research studies the various dimensions of the oral skills while focusing on the methodologies of developing those skills. It analyses as well the assessment that constitutes an important process in an FFL course. As part of this thesis, we’ve conducted a study analyzing the oral performance of some Saudi learners who took part in several communication situations. On one hand, this study analyses the ability of learners to communicate orally in various situations of communication. On the other hand, it studies the difficulties encountered at the lexical, grammatical and phonetic levels. To go further in our research, we’ve used the Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) in developing an FFL distance training, which helped, despite some obstacles, improving oral skills of Saudis learners

Full textPostpartum Hemorrhage (PPH) still represents the leading cause of maternai morbidity and mortality in France. The PPH worsening to severe PPH can be explained by different factors: factors related to women, pregnancy and childbirth and / or factors related to PPH management. The quality of this management cannot be evaluated independently of either the environment in which it is given or the characteristics of caregivers who provide them. Observational studies have partially assessed the potential determinants of the quality of care for PPH management. The objective of this PhD thesis was to develop and validate a methodology to study discrepancies with good practices and to assess determinants related to the organization of care and / or caregivers. At first, we developed and validated dynamic case-vignettes with several steps, as tool assessing quality of PPH management. Then we used these case-vignettes to study variations in PPH management among 450 French midwives. Adherence to guidelines was low for pharmacological management. Finally, we investigated staff and institutional factors associated with substandard care. We showed both staff — i. E. Age, experience, and level of risk taking - and institutional factors ¬mortality and morbidity reviews — may be associated with substandard eare in midwives' PPH management. Our method proves to be a relevant way to complete the observational studies on the subject

Full textThe research aims to show the influence of training upon conceptions and the assessing practices of non vocational secondary school teachers in the Gabonese educational system. It pursues a broader objective that of the identification and analysis of mobilized competences in the teachers' work. It also takes into account the role of experience in the training of the latter. First of all it raises a set of questions on the experiences of training, the conceptions and assessing practices, this set of questions emphasizes factors that can act on teacher' perception of evaluation in the classroom – standard terminology, link between practice and theory, mobilized knowledge – From these categories, it is suggested a framework of questions about the teachers' viewpoint regarding the origin of their know-how in this field – initial training, continued training, experience-based training. The methodology that is resorted to consists in establishing, from exploring interviews, a categorization of the group that is studied, namely non vocational secondary-school teachers in subgroups – trained/untrained, old timers/newcomers – and investigating a representative sample of this group via a questionnaire and a test based on the marking of secondary school pupils' work. The findings though incomplete and inconclusive show that the knowledge acquired thanks to training is being eroded over the years ; it also puts forward a widespread tendency to have a preference for injunction-based evaluation, it highlights the significant role of experience and the varying effects of continued training. All of these observations evidence the problems raised by the assessment of teachers' training

Full textThis research based on both a clinical and a qualitative approach aims to provide both a description and a model. It explores the potential role of self assessment in in-service secondary school teacher education courses to modify beliefs and practices concerning assessment and furthermore to change the pedagogical paradigm. Part 1, based on a complex approach to reality, brings to light the "comprehensive" assessment paradigm encompassing formative assessment and "evaluation formatrice" taking into account the implication of the teaching learning participants in the assessment process. Ways in which self assessment plays a role in changing beliefs and in regulating the activity are examined and give rise to a model. Part 2 analyses the contents and organisation of a teacher training programme on assessment and its ricochet effect. Teacher trainers, by applying a process of self-assessment to their own teaching practices, gradually aim to enable teachers to assess themselves so that they, in turn, will encourage their pupils to do the same. Part 3 analyses the effects of self assessment introduced into an in service education course for secondary school teachers. The analysis of their discourse at several points in the duration of their training and longitudinally, shows the changes which occur in their conceptions of assessment and in their practice. Participants who are shown to change their pedagogical paradigm, are those who consciously engage in a process of self-assessment, leading to changes in their vision of the teacher's role. This research aims at contribution to the development of knowledge in the area of self-assessment and at providing teacher educators with tools to analyse their practice

Full textSkin cancers are the most common malignancies occurring in Caucasian populations. It is currently becoming an important challenge in terms of public health management as the increasing incidence rates will probably have a tremendous impact on healthcare costs. In this context, our work aimed to contribute to the epidemiology of skin cancers and related dermatologic disorders in a French adult general population and was conducted within the framework of the SU. VI. MAX. Cohort. Our principal study tested whether supplementation with a combination of vitamins and mineral antioxidants could reduce the risk of skin cancers. Furthermore, another part of our work evaluated attitudes and behaviour of a French middle-aged general population towards natural and artificial ultraviolet exposure. Our findings suggest that antioxidant supplementation affects the incidence of skin cancers differentially in men and women and may not always provide beneficial effects. Given the issues sustaining the beneficial effects of a diversified diet and the subluminal allegation of sun protection associated with micronutrients intake, one should reasonably seek for a careful way to open up for promoting relevant policies and refine strategies for skin cancer prevention

Full textAbstract : It is a known fact that the aging of the population in Quebec has been steadily increasing and statistical figures speak for themselves. The word “aging” in the singular form masks the multiple contexts and processes of aging. For those who are not able to age well, family solidarity, as well as institutional solidarity, that is to say the public ones usually compensate for the loss of autonomy. The Quebec public health policies give structure to home support services following the assessment of the person’s situation with the Multiclientele Assessment Tool (MAT). This tool is used in the entire health and social services network, and by professionals such as social workers (SWs). However, gerontology is rarely taught in the initial training of SWs while these professionals also work with the older population. We reflected on how SWs gained their knowledge when assessing older adults. With regard to knowledge translated into practice, we focused the research on activity theories, occupational didactics and the conceptual framework of mediation. We examined activities performed by experimented professionals in social work when they were assessing functional autonomy of older adults. This was done to identify some of the knowledge applied in their practice and to make such knowledge available for the training of social work students in Quebec. Over 150 hours of observations and 22 individual and group meetings were conducted with volunteer practitioners working in the home support sector of a health and social services centre. The preliminary results of the research were presented to two focus groups: one with SWs who participated in the research, the other with social work teachers. Our results help describe the assessment procedures within the home support organization and differentiate the activity process by which SWs assess the person’s functional autonomy. We note that the knowledge acquired by SWs is based primarily on a detailed knowledge of the territory, the assessment tool and institutions. A second category of knowledge is the conceptualization of the functional autonomy by using the MAT tool as the scope and area of intervention of SWs. Finally, a third category of knowledge refers to the knowledge acquired which is used to interact with older adults and those around them. However, these three categories of knowledge are not reflected in the views of SWs but rather result from our own analysis of their practice. The assessment of functional autonomy is analyzed by the mediation concept. This concept highlights the knowledge acquired by SWs. With regard to knowledge related to practice, we noticed that their classification between the usual categories of theoretical knowledge or practice knowledge was ineffective. We use the occupational didactics vocabulary, such as functional invariants which are related to the assessment of functional autonomy, and activity-based patterns which are related to the assessment itself. Two key moments were identified in the assessment process. The first one includes the information collection and data analysis. The functional autonomy has an impact on the person’s life conditions. It is divided into two areas: mobility and cognition with intervention areas such as the safety and integrity of the person. In this iterative process, the SW identifies with the person what might affect her/his daily life. The assessment process raises two questions: (a) how to resolve this impact? and (b) how the loss of autonomy could be compensated? The information collection and the SW’s reasoning become then an iterative process, since the two elements of the process are linked and in continuous mode. The second moment of the assessment occurs if, in the current iterative process, the SW feels that there is a dissonance. It is essential to identify its nature in order to take it into account and maintain the objective of the activity which is to assess the functional autonomy for compensation purposes. The SW must identify the reason why there is a dissonance in order to be able to pinpoint with the person the inherent need for the loss of autonomy and what could be considered to address it. Taking into account this dissonance has just slowed down the progress of the activity. The reasoning which was previously related to the information collection has given way to the analysis of what may impede the assessment according to the situation. The components that generate the dissonance appear to be related to day-to-day activities, life conditions at the person’s home (consistency/inconsistency, refusal of services, self-neglect, mistreatment, aggressiveness). Assessing the situation becomes more complex because of the dissonance. The functional autonomy is still divided into two areas: mobility and cognition with the same areas of intervention which are the safety and the integrity of the person. However, to do so, the SWs’ reasoning is based on three schemes. In situations where a decision must be made on actions to be taken on a case, it must be referred, for instance, to a service or a profession standard. The reasoning then becomes normative. There are also situations where the SW acts according to her/his values and representations. It is called instinctive reasoning. Finally, the SW can explore these two orientations and choose the path of clinical reasoning designated as ethics. It is then similar to prudential practices which are characterized by uncertainty.

Full textThis research focuses on the evaluation practices of Gabonese primary teachers in connection with teaching practices. The research concerns the summative evaluation knowledge, as part of taking admission decision to a level skill and the passage of the student upper class. The goal of the study is to determine the training needs of teachers, given the current and desired situations of their professional skills in summative evaluation. The different training needs were measured using the following dimensions: perceptions of teachers in relation to their summative assessment practices and the types of training and priorities in summative evaluation. Two instruments of measurementhave been used to collect research data. The questionnaire sent to forty participants, brought together quantitative data. The guides of semi-structured individual interviews were sent to four of these teachers to collect their speeches about their current and desired situations in summative evaluation. The analysis and interpretation of quantitative data were made from the non-graphical approach developed by Nadeau (1984). This first analysis of data allowed finding the frequency of selection of each participant, scores, the average absolute deviation and the needs of the priority index. The treatment of the qualitative data was based on the systemic theory developed by Lapointe (1992) by conducting discourse analysis of the participants by means of coding and verbatim transcripts through the QDA Miner software. The different statistical and interpretative analyzes were then triangulated to measure the extent of the needs expressed by all the participants. The discussion helped to make connexions between the outcome of the research and scientific literature. The quantitative results show that there are four categories of continuing education needs among participants: 17 critical needs, 17 priority needs, 11 low priority needs and 7 non-priority needs. The qualitative analyzes mention that Gabonese public school teachers who participated in the research have a weak current situation in their summative evaluation practices. Their perceptions show that the lack of sufficient skills training (CPA) and the lack of relevance of the tools of this approach are the major causes of the difficulties in summative evaluation. The qualitative results also show that teachers have difficulty in linking teaching practices to summative evaluation practices. To this end, participants expressed a strong desire to benefit from continuing training in order to improve their evaluation practices in particular. After the research, five recommendations with many statements have been made to the Ministry of education of Gabon and its various technical directions, so that the appropriate policies and mechanisms are implemented in the direction of reducing the discrepancy between the current and desired situationsof Gabonese primary school teachers who participated in this studyin the Estuary province, in particular.

Full textTo evaluate is to reveal the project, confirm choices and estimate the usefulness of consequences. This thesis addresses the assessment of the evaluation system of French teaching in cycle III (Middle School) of basic education in Lebanon and places it within the framework of the reorganization of the education system in order to train citizens in all domains: intellectual, human, national as well as social domain. The evaluation of our evaluation system which was carried out over the past three years is supposed to have been assessed in qualities, constituent elements and results attained. This reflexion on reality led us to stick to the practices ground practices, by means and methods, to compare them with the intentions behind them. It also guides us to make empirical observations and objective analysis; draw conclusions, and become aware of the needs to - hopefully - be able to propose more secure steps in the evaluation of the training system. This work concerns the partners of the "school life" who want to understand reality as well as those who work for it : the decision makers who carry out the education policy and ensuring their choices for a more transparent, adaptable and more effective evaluation system; school principals who wish to be more pedagogical than administrators; the teachers who don't want to evaluate teaching haphazardly anymore; parents of students who want to participate in the formation of their children. For all those who aim at better "expressing" the situation of French teaching, and aim at better "expressing" the future of the Francophone (French-speaking) school in Lebanon

Full textIn view of a return to an increasing number of primary school teachers of Burkina Faso in permanent adult training at the university, our research was aiming at questioning this individual procedure and highlight its foundations. Secondly, it was to question the systems of permanent adult training generaly in force and as far as the universities are mainly concerned, to understand the mecanisms settled to accompany the request of the teachers. At the end at our investigations, we essentially understand that the motivations of those who have been questioned are many.In the whole, some reasons of professional promotion, of competence reinforcement as well as some economic motives are at the origine of this commitment. If a difference appears between the different excuses, we should however mention the persistance of the identitary motive through the others, which may lead us to think that next to the recalled reasons to justify the return in universitary permanent adult training, the social recorgnition presides over the approach of the concerned primary school teachers. In addition, if the univesities in Burkina Faso predict some systems to take in charge the permanent training, our research reveals that these systems are not yet suffisciently able to face the request of the primary school teachers

Full textThe apprenticeship occupies a singular place among the education devices which are set in the middle of the employement and the educational system, because it represents the most old form (Astier’s law of july 25th1919) of enterprise’s involvement in an education part, long afounded on the acquisition of a trade on the job. On the july 16th 1971, the apprenticeship contract becomes a real work contract. But in the eighties the creation of the professional baccalaureate deeply moves the educational scene. The CAP, ousted from professional secondary schools to apprenticeship, loses its identity. In spite of the law of july 23th 1987 opening the apprenticeship to all qualification levels, this one slowly but certainly becomes associated to activities of little value, intended to offer a minimal education for the excluded persons from the educational system. We have to wait the social modernisation law of 2002 so that apprenticeship is the subject of a thought about its modernisation and its development. Poitou-Charentes was one of the first regions to sign a contract of objectives and means. The number of apprentices represented, in 2005, 3,6% of the national number. In this context, our work articulates around three parts. The first one offers a spatial, temporal, demographic and institutional approach of apprenticeship. The second part analyses the place of this apprenticeship in the middle of the public politics and the education/employement relationship. The last part tries, thanks to a qualitativy investigation, to give some elements favourable for a valuation of the apprenticeship in the territory of Poitou-Charentes

Full textSince the 90s, employability has become an object of research. However, despite of its relevance this theme is less studied. This thesis is the result of this statement with the aims to propose a definition of employability and determine its dimensions, to develop a measuring scale of the concept, and to identify its determinants. On the basis of theoretical arguments and conclusions extracted from an exploratory study undertaken with actors of employment, a definition of employability was proposed and its determinants were précised. Then, a questionnaire including 62 items is created. In order to evaluate its quality, firstly the questionnaire was subjected to an exploratory factorial analysis and internal coherence tests. And secondly we have consolidated the exploratory factorial structure through confirmatory factor analysis. The final scale developed includes 42 items divided into six dimensions. In additions, thanks to an examination of literature, we built a theoretical model of employability development. This model simultaneously incorporates determinants about organizational, personal, and socio-Demographical variables. The empirical test of the model was performed in the third and final quantitative study with a heterogeneous population working in different companies (N=214). The results obtained show that training, organizational learning, the support of hierarchical superior, the self-Efficacy, and the internal locus of control are factor facilitating the development of employability. The diploma, the professional experience, the family situation, and the health also appeared to explain employability

Full textThe research on the performance determinants of the salesperson has been widely studied and it appears that the variation on performance is mostly due to personal variables. The research on the salesperson plateau is less studied and aims mainly at actions to avoid plateauing. This research proposes a structural model on the performance determinants of salesperson based on personality traits: competitiveness, conscientiousness, self-esteem and self-efficacy,and analyses the relationships between these traits among them, and between effort and performance. This research points out as well the weak moderating effect of the plateau on the variables of the model.A conceptual model on the performance determinants of the salesperson is validated and, theweak positive moderating effect of the plateau on the structural path between competitiveness, conscientiousness, effort and performance is confirmed. This study points out the role of a triad made of self-efficacy, effort and conscientiousness a sexplaining variables of the performance of performing salespeople. Another characteristic of aperforming salesperson regards their effort which is smart, and their high level of effort becomes normative for senior performing salespersons. To the contrary, average performing salespersons have a less smart effort and a more hard effort.Another characteristic of performing salespersons regards self-efficacy and their ability inanalyzing their experiences firstly past experiences, and then present experiences in order todetermine their enactive mastery. Performing salespersons are conscientious and whileremaining focused on the objective, they analyze the situation and adapt their actions and means to reach the objective. Competitiveness is a catalyzer of the triad self-efficacy-effort conscientiousness. For performing salespersons of age ≤ 45, effort and self-efficacy are the main drivers and then, after the age 45, conscientiousness and competitiveness become the main drivers. The career plateau of performing salespersons is accepted in particular because they experience job enrichment, and this job enrichment is a consequence of the role stress and positive experiences

Full textSelf-perceived employability as an integrated element of employability…nor has it been really mentioned in modern-day managerial practices. Academic research on the topic is quite limited. It’s almost non-existent when individuals are confronted with difficulties in changing jobs: a tricky context when they get older. An extensive literature review backs up these concepts and delivers an operationalization of the idea linked to the individuals versus socio-demographic variables and employment status. The suggested results are from a qualitative study carried out on more than 30 people. The results then led to a quantitative research on the operationalization of Self-perceived employability. Based on several confirmed scaled (with items linked to employability, and to a lesser extent, Self-perceived employability…and new items from the exploratory research), we built a questionnaire keeping in mind that this way could contribute to a new and innovative measurement of employability. The streamlined scale leads to a new construct with six statistical dimensions: Skills, Training, Sense of Self Efficacy, Networking (internal and external), Job Search Tools and realistic knowledge of the job market. All in all, the research offers a way which could forecast professional situations and allows a realistic evaluation of Self-perceived employability. This study also suggests that self-employability is linked to professional status (ie to be hired). This research could be used for other vulnerable groups (like junior workers) and also on different cultural contexts
