ABSTRACT A fast, simple, and reliable chemical method for tellurite quantification is described. The procedure is based on the NaBH4-mediated reduction of TeO3 2− followed by the spectrophotometric determination of elemental tellurium in solution. The method is highly reproducible, is stable at different pH values, and exhibits linearity over a broad range of tellurite concentrations.

ABSTRACT The siderophore of Pseudomonas stutzeri KC, pyridine-2,6-bis(thiocarboxylic acid) (pdtc), is shown to detoxify selenium and tellurium oxyanions in bacterial cultures. A mechanism for pdtc's detoxification of tellurite and selenite is proposed. The mechanism is based upon determination using mass spectrometry and energy-dispersive X-ray spectrometry of the chemical structures of compounds formed during initial reactions of tellurite and selenite with pdtc. Selenite and tellurite are reduced by pdtc or its hydrolysis product H2S, forming zero-valent pdtc selenides and pdtc tellurides th

The effect of thionine, azure I and methylene blue on the electroreduction of tellurium(IV) has been studied in the solutions of oxalic, tartaric and trihydroxyglutaric acids. It has been shown that the electrode process is complicated by adsorption of all components of the electrochemical reaction. This causes an increase of the tellurium analytical signal. The determinations is not hampered by great excesses of various elements. Optimal conditions were found according to which determinations were carried out of tellurium in binary mixtures Pb-Te, Cd-Te, Fe-Te, Bi-Te and of tellurium admixtur

The content of selenium and tellurium used in steels and alloys as alloying additives is strictly regulated by the current state standards. The methods of analysis used in state standards are often lengthy and laborious and do not provide their simultaneous determination. Development of alternative methods for the determination of selenium and tellurium in metallurgical materials using modern analytical equipment is an urgent goal. The method of atomic emission spectrometry with inductively coupled plasma (ICP-AES) is widely used in analysis of metallurgical materials. However, the components

It was established that associates are extracted well with chloroform-acetone (3:2). We determined the compositions, physical and chemical and analytical properties of complexes (εk, βKD, D, R%). Maximum light absorption for chloride complexes is found to be λmax 520 nm, but for bromide complexes - λmax 530 nm. In order to increase the sensitivity of FAAS from mg/L level to ng/L level, various atom trap systems have been used. One of these atom traps, Slotted Quartz Tube (SQT), which is easy, economical and useful for volatile element determination, is used in this study as a sensitive analytical method for determination of tellurium.
