Abstract:
Objective and aim: Adults use child-directed-speech in their interaction with infants,w hich has been confirmed to have positive effects on their language learning. This study was a part of the Words make a difference project at Karolinska Institutet (KI). Within this project, a new intervention model has been developed for caregivers of children with a hearing impairment, called the Prevention Education Program forParents (PEPP). The purpose of the present study was to investigate whether caregiver’s use of child-directed speech differed between a structured play situation and in home environment. The aim was also to evaluate the PEPP model's methods of analysis; video and LENA-recording, concerning measurement of child-directed speech in a structured play situation. Data from the present study were also collected as reference data for the Words make a difference. Methods: The study involved four families with typically hearing infants aged 0-7months and their caregivers. Data collection was undertaken using PEPP's evaluation methods in a short, structured play situation and a full day recording in a home environment. Results and conlusion: In some cases, the care-givers’ use of child-directed speech differed between the structured play situation and the full-day recording in the home environment. The two data collection methods (audio recording and video recording) during the structured play situation were in good agreement regarding the use of child directed speech. The conclusion is that the PEPP model is a functional method for examining the spoken language environment of infants. Bakgrund och syfte: Barnriktat tal (BRT) används av vuxna i samspel med små barn och har visat sig innebära positiva effekter för språkinlärningen. Denna studie var en del av Ord gör skillnad- projektet på Karolinska Institutet (KI) där en ny interventionsmodell för föräldrar till barn med hörselnedsättning utvecklas: Prevention Education Program for Parents (PEPP). Den aktuella studiens syfte var att undersöka spädbarns talspråksmiljö och om föräldrars användning av BRT skiljer sig mellan en strukturerad leksituation och i hemmiljö. Syftet var också att utvärdera PEPP- modellens bedömningsmetoder; LENA-inspelning och videoinspelning. Metod: I studien deltog fyra normalhörande spädbarn i åldrarna 0-7 månader och deras mammor. Datainsamlingen gjordes med hjälp av PEPP:s bedömningsmetoder dels under en kort strukturerad leksituation dels genom en heldagsinspelning i hemmiljö. BRT analyserades utifrån fem språkspecifika särdrag; segmentell fonologi, prosodi, syntax, ordförråd och pragmatik. Resultat och slutsatser: Användning av BRT skiljde sig i enstaka fall mellan den strukturerade leksituationen och heldagsinspelningen i hemmiljö. De två bedömningsmetoderna stämde väl överens med avseende på användningen av BRT under den strukturerade leksituationen. Slutsatsen är att PEPP-modellens bedömningsmetoder är användbara vid undersökning av talspråksmiljön hos spädbarn i åldrarna 0-7 mån gällande BRT och kan med fördel användas i föräldrahandledning. Resultaten från den här studien kan komma att användas för metodutveckling av PEPP- modellen och även som referensdata till Ord gör skillnad- projektet.

Abstract:
This thesis provides the first rigorous history of the concept of midlife crisis. It highlights the close connections between understandings of the life course and social change. It reverses accounts of popularization by showing how an idea moved from the public sphere into academia. Above all, it uncovers the feminist origins of the concept and places this in a historically little-studied tradition of writing about middle age that rejected the gendered "double standard of aging." Constructions of middle age and life-planning were not always oppressive, but often used for feminist purposes. The idea of midlife crisis became popular in the United States with journalist Gail Sheehy's Passages (1976), a critique of Erik Erikson's male-centered model of ego development and psychoanalytic constructions of gender and identity more generally. Drawing on mid-century notions of middle life as the time of a woman's entry into the public sphere, Sheehy's midlife crisis defined the onset of middle age, for men and women, as the end of traditional gender roles. As dual-earner families replaced the male breadwinner model, Passages circulated widely, read by women and men of different generations, including social scientists. Three psychoanalytic experts-Daniel Levinson, George Vaillant, and Roger Gould-rebutted Sheehy by putting forward a male-only concept of midlife as the end of a man's family obligations; they banned women from reimagining their lives. Though this became the dominant meaning of midlife crisis, it was not universally accepted. Feminist scholars, most famously the psychologist and ethicist Carol Gilligan, drew on women's experiences to challenge the midlife crisis, turning it into a sign of emotional instability, immaturity, and egotism. Resonating with widespread understandings of mental health and social responsibility, and confirmed by large-scale surveys in the late 1990s, this relegated the midlife crisis to a chauvinist cliché. It has remained a contested concept for negotiating the balances between work and life, production and reproduction into the present day.

Abstract:
In this thesis I deal with various aspects of influence of clearings on plant communities in NP Podyjí. Special space is dedicated to light-demanding, threatened and alien plant species, and their response to light improvement. The area of the Podyjí NP has been used by people continuously for a very long time. There is therefore a whole range of plant species, linked to a certain anthropogenic disturbance regime. I observed the development of plant communities using phytocenological relevés on six pairs of clearings (isolated and connected with open habitats), created in 2011 and 2012. At the same time, I also investigated the adjacent closed-canopy forests and open forests on the edge of the canyon. During the first year after cutting, there was a significant increase in diversity and species cover in the clearings. In the following years, significant changes took place on isolated clearings, as the zone of closed-canopy forest delayed low colonization by new individuals in first years. In the clearings, diversity and abundance of plants were significantly higher than in the closed-canopy forest and open forest. The number of endangered plant species was the highest in open forest. Abstract:
This study examines thermoregulation behavior of wood ant genus Formica on elevation gradient. Two years long dataloger records of inner nest and ambient temperature were combined with detailed spring-summer manual measurement of nest temperature in different depths below nest surface. Results show that inner nest temperature was higher than air temperature in all seasons. Temperature of ant nest is highest in the deepest layer, the heat flows from inside out. We can assume that thermal homeostasis of ant nest in spring and summer i.e. in period of ant highest activity is influenced mainly by inner heat sources - microbial activity and ant metabolism. Insulation seems to have direct effect on nest temperature only in early spring; in summer insulation affects nest temperature indirectly, via ant activity. In winter there is pronounced effect of nest volume which corresponds high isolative properties of nest material. Our results indicate that thermoregulatory behavior of wood ants is driven by endogenous factors, namely colony needs in sense of queen oviposition brood development. Both of these require high temperature. Nests at variable altitude did not differ in average seasonal temperature or seasonal temperature fluctuation. Abstract:
The paper aims to examine how the specific conditions in forest kindergartens may affect motor development of young children and to identify other daily life factors that may have an impact on motor development. A test of motor skills was used to compare results of children from forest schools and regular kindergartens. The work is based on theoretical knowledge about children's motor development, motor skills and abilities and various ways to test them. A set of motor tests was compiled to measure the level of motor skills in both types of kindergartens. The theoretical part provides the reader with characteristics of both types of schools to show how the conditions may vary and assess the differences. The comparison of the results of the tests shows that natural conditions for physical activities in forest kindergartens do not lead to better results in motor skills tests. The parents of participating children were given a questionnaire and the provided answers were then compared with the children's performance in the tests. This method proved that neither time actively spent with parents nor exercising in extracurricular activities have a significant effect on the motor level development of children. 1 Abstract Thesis Woods as an educational space? examines using quantitative methods the differences between children in ordinary kindergartens and forest kindergartens, and it does so according to formation of individual components of scientific literacy or knowledge of selected terms (concepts) in its empirical part. For this purpose it creates evaluation model of scientific literacy of preschool children (didactic test) based on the example of processing a particular topic - Forest. The topic is set into the concept of pedagogy, developmental psychology, and social ecology. The theoretical part discusses the issue of scientific literacy, especially in the context of preprimary age. From the perspective of developmental psychology are furthemore described cognitive developmental characteristics of preschool age in their basic level. This part also focuses on strategic documents of (permanent) sustainable development. The thesis gives a first interesting insight into the problem and reveals a serious facts such as that children from ordinary kindergartens confuse natural objects under artificial objects also are less oriented in inanimate components, than the children of the forest kindergartens. The diploma thesis "Methodology of the use of rough-and-tumble play in the environment of alternative forest schools of pre-primary and primary education as a possible prevention of bullying." points to the area of children's games, which are inherently associated with such physical manifestation that it can cause all sorts of concerns in adults. The rough-and-tumble play as well as fighting and combat play are in question considered in this thesis as a kind of games, sometimes possibly neglected, but necessary for the healthy development of children's personalities. If the development of children and pupils is the goal of school facilities, then the possible inclusion of combat and combat games in these environments seems to be suitably developing. Alternative schools, in this case forest kindergartens and primary schools, are so open to innovation that this thesis chose them for the imaginary incorporation of rough-and- tumble play into their curriculum. It also outlines the possible context between the conscious fighting game of children and their perception of bullying, or the possible influence of the fighting game on the elimination of these undesirable behaviours. The first step was a short consumer survey, which was distributed among respondents in electronic and paper versions. The main objective of this research was to measure awareness of FSC logo and its effects in the consumer choice process. The second part of this research was dedicated to companies producing or selling certified furniture. The field research was conducted among selected stores situated in České Budějovice.
