Abstract:
The phenomenon of the Kosach-Dragomanov family is considered in this article as a national archetype of the Ukrainian mentality, the influence of this family on the formation of such an aristocratic personality as Lesіa Ukrainka during difficult times of socio-political life. Special attention has been paid to the creative and human relationships between Lesia and her uncle Mykhailo Drahomanov whose influence on her was undeniable and extremely beneficial. Her pedigree in particular has been traced. Heredity of generations, the appearance of ingenious personalities is always the subject of special attention. The decisive moment in defining these processes is the appearance of new people, more precisely people of new formation, people of progressive thinking, who are the driving force and foundation of historical change. New generations should not be indifferent to their great predecessors. Lesіa Ukrainka as a creative nature could not be indifferent to the talents and skills of talented people, the circle of her friends, acquaintances and supporters was extremely wide as well as the measurement of her interests. The subject of this article is to highlight the important role of the family and the environment in general in forming a young person as a personality. The challenges of the modern times, in particular, in the field of humanistic educational tendencies, require an appeal to moral authorities in the history of the development of the Ukrainian nation. Keywords: apriori fantasies; bourgeois liberal; positivist scientist; state terrorism; amateurism; ethnography; “Europeanism”; national consciousness; political leader; socio-political thought.

Abstract:
Abstract Our objective was to evaluate the inclusion of a novel plant-based protein (Lemna; MC Select; Parabel®; Vero Beach, FL) in dog diets at 0, 5, and 10% and cat diets at 0, 10 and 15% for palatability, stool quality, and nutrient digestibility. We hypothesized that Lemna would be a viable protein source in both cat and dog diets by showing no detriments to nutrition outcomes. All feeding tests were conducted at an independent research facility (Susquehanna, PA). A standard 2 bowl palatability test over a 2-day period was done with adult dogs and cats (n = 30 each) to determine intake ratios (IR) between test diets (Lemna -containing diets) and control (0% Lemna) diet. Total tract nutrient digestibility was conducted with 18 adult dogs and 21 adult cats (n=6–7 per diet) with 5 days of diet acclimation followed by 5 days of total fecal collection. Stool quality was evaluated on a 1–5 scale where 1= non-formed/diarrhea and 5= hard, formed. Palatability data was analyzed via Wilcoxon Signed Rank, and digestibility and stool quality data were analyzed by ANOVA with a Tukey’s post-hoc means separation (SAS version 9.4). Intake ratios in cats between 10% Lemna and control were significantly (P < 0.05) in favor of control, while no difference was observed between 15% Lemna and control. For dogs, 5% and 10% Lemna had significantly (P < 0.05) lower IR demonstrating a preference to control. Both cats and dogs fed Lemna diets had acceptable stool quality (3.42 avg for cat and 3.34 avg for dog). No detriments in nutrient digestibility were observed in dogs fed 5% and 10% Lemna; however, cats fed 10% and 15% Lemna had significantly (P < 0.05) lower dry matter, protein, and energy digestibility versus control. In conclusion, these data suggest more development is needed for Lemna inclusion in companion animal diets. Thursday, July 23, 2020

So, Lydia, Erin Miller, and John Eastwood. "Exploring Mothers’ Experience of a Linguistic Feedback Technology for Children at Risk of Poor Language Development: Qualitative Pilot Study." JMIR Pediatrics and Parenting 4, no. 3 (August 31, 2021): e27049. http://dx.doi.org/10.2196/27049.

Full text
Abstract:
Background The early language environment is important for language development and a child’s life-course trajectory. Risk factors associated with poor language development outcomes in children include maternal anxiety and depression, low educational attainment, substance misuse, and low socioeconomic status. Language Environment Analysis (LENA) is a wearable technology designed to promote caregivers’ engagement in supporting their children’s language development. LENA provides quantitative linguistic feedback, which has been shown to improve caregiver language output, thus enhancing a child’s language environment. There is limited research on the uptake of this technology by families with developmentally at-risk children. Objective This qualitative study aims to explore the conditions under which mothers with children at risk of poor developmental outcomes are willing to adopt the use of LENA to monitor and improve caregiver language output. Methods Using a qualitative interpretive design, semistructured, in-depth interviews were conducted with 8 mothers. Participants were recruited purposively to select the maximal variation of socioeconomic and ethnodemographic backgrounds. The transcribed interview data were analyzed thematically and interpretatively. Themes were mapped abductively to an extended Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology, which included contextual factors for LENA acceptance. Results Factors that influenced the intention to use LENA included both technology-specific acceptance factors and contextual factors. Technology acceptance themes included reassurance, feeling overwhelmed, and trust. These themes were mapped to performance expectancy, effort expectancy, and social influence. Contextual themes included emergent success and the intrusion of past difficulties. These were mapped to parenting self-efficacy and perceived risk. The theme of building on success described behavioral intention. Mothers were more likely to adopt LENA when the technology was viewed as acceptable, and this was influenced by parenting self-efficacy and perceived risk. Conclusions LENA is a technology that is acceptable to mothers with children who are at risk of poor language development outcomes. Further studies are needed to establish LENA’s effectiveness as an adjunct to strategies to enrich a child’s early language environment.

Abstract:
Purpose To produce a novel, efficient measure of children's expressive vocal development on the basis of automatic vocalization assessment (AVA), child vocalizations were automatically identified and extracted from audio recordings using Language Environment Analysis (LENA) System technology. Method Assessment was based on full-day audio recordings collected in a child's unrestricted, natural language environment. AVA estimates were derived using automatic speech recognition modeling techniques to categorize and quantify the sounds in child vocalizations (e.g., protophones and phonemes). These were expressed as phone and biphone frequencies, reduced to principal components, and inputted to age-based multiple linear regression models to predict independently collected criterion-expressive language scores. From these models, we generated vocal development AVA estimates as age-standardized scores and development age estimates. Result AVA estimates demonstrated strong statistical reliability and validity when compared with standard criterion expressive language assessments. Conclusions Automated analysis of child vocalizations extracted from full-day recordings in natural settings offers a novel and efficient means to assess children's expressive vocal development. More research remains to identify specific mechanisms of operation.

Abstract:
BackgroundThe LENA (Labeling of Enalapril from Neonates up to Adolescents) project has been initiated to improve the healthcare of children with heart failure by an enalapril orodispersible mini-tablet. The LENA consortium combines academic clinical research centers, SMEs (small and medium-sized enterprises) and a patient/parent advocacy organization. The objective of the project requires to comply with respective GxP regulations like Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP), Good Clinical (Laboratory) Practice (GCP/“GCLP”1) and Good Vigilance Practice (GVP). The project team is comprised of sub-teams experienced in paediatric clinical practice, medicines development, clinical research and project management, but not all team members work in an appropriate quality framework. Aim: To establish a well-documented, efficient quality system applying a new approach for ensuring quality in all trial aspects by combining existing organization-related quality system elements of the project partners with newly developed SOPs and overarching, integrating trial-specific elements to ensure a reliable quality environment for the LENA Phase I clinical trial.MethodsBased on the network-structure of the project organization, a strategy based on a team approach with joint responsibilities for the quality conduct of the project was pursuit, forming a QM Team consisting of the project leader, the leaders for pharmaceutical and clinical development and an external quality expert. The team compiled a quality manual and an organizational chart displaying the sub-teams and their responsibilities. Another responsibility of the team is the integration of existing SOPs and Work Instructions as well as the creation of procedures at the project level and furthermore the verification of appropriate qualification of all staff involved in the project through CVs, job descriptions and training records.ResultsFor the Phase I study, a thorough analysis of all existing relevant SOPs and Work Instructions, forms and other quality elements was performed, uncovered trial-related processes were identified and a work plan was established to fill the gaps with the smallest possible number of newly developed organization-related SOPs/Work Instructions and by preparing trial-specific process manuals. Demonstration of the trial team members was ensured by completing documentation concerning CVs, job description and training records. Among the sub-teams, the GCLP environment of the bioanalytical laboratory was started from scratch and could adequately support the LENA Phase I study by “GCLP” quality work and sample logistics.ConclusionThe consortiums approach enabled the preparation of a comprehensive, reliable GxP compliant quality system within a short timeframe and with the limited resources of a publicly funded project.1 “GCLP” is used as acronym for a quality system established in compliance with “Reflection paper for laboratories that perform the analysis or evaluation of clinical trial samples” (EMA/INS/GCP/532137/2010; 28 February 2012)The research leading to these results has received funding from the European Union Seventh Framework Programme (FP7/2007–2013) under grant agreement n°602295 (LENA).

Abstract:
The development of the globalization information system and the effects of the global pandemic almost demands almost everyone to optimize technology in response to various problems, including literature and writing. This article presents cyber literature as an alternative for the development of Pena Perajut Aksara, a women writers community in Sidoarjo. The problems studied were how the pattern of writing strategies for this community and how the community responds to cyber literature development as an alternative writing strategy. To answer the problems raised, researchers used a qualitative descriptive method. Theoretically, the researcher applied Pierre Bourdieu's perspective on the Field of Cultural Production. The data collected by using the unstructured interview method. The results of this study indicate that as the main strategy, this community relies on the curation of authors who have been consecrated as curators. Meanwhile, the development of electronic/cyber-literature has also begun to be taken seriously as a strategy to achieve consecration for this community. As an impact of research limitations on descriptive patterns, this study's results suggest more comprehensive and multi-disciplinary research to provide more concrete and measurable recommendations for the community in achieving consecration and broader public recognition in the future.

Questionnaire was used as the instrument, and it was administered to twenty eight participants. The data was analyzed descriptively. The findings reveal that most of the subjects are familiar with the technology application. Further, not all of the subjects are confident to their ICT competence. Inserting GPA information to the prospective teachers’ profile, it shows that high GPA do not guarantee high confidence on ICT use. For TPACK confidence result, it shows that more than 45% are confident to integrate technology in their classroom instruction.

Abstract:
The paper focuses on the specific features of the ‘One’s own — Alien’ conflict in the dramatic works by Lesia Ukrainka. The majority of her dramas and dramatic poems were written on the basis of foreign cultural phenomena, including the Ancient Greek, Biblical, and other topoi and images. Foreign cultural realities are aimed at the actualization of both the entire context of Ukraine and the writer’s autobiographic discourse in a recipient’s consciousness, forming the imagological paradigms ‘One’s own — Alien,’ ‘Me — Another’. Upon involving the imagological theories, the author of the paper traces the development of dialogue between various cultural realities in Lesia Ukrainka’s dramatic works. This allowed elucidating the peculiarities in the artistic representation of the exotic topoi of different countries as the significant feature of Neoromantic and, in general, Modernist discourses, which were basic for Lesia Ukrainka’s writing. The textual analysis of Lesia Ukrainka’s dramas reveals the specific features of unfolding the ‘One’s own — Alien’ conflict, first of all, on the ethnic-mental level, epitomized in the ‘conquered — conqueror’ collision of the plays “Babylonian Captivity”, “Over the Ruins”, “Orgy” and “Boiarynia”. The other dimension is the worldview and religious level, mostly realized through the collision ‘Antiquity — Christianity’ (“In the Catacombs”, “Rufinus and Priscilla”, “Martian the Lawyer”, and others). It is proved that the ‘One’s own — Alien’ conflict deepens the problems of the works and serves as a way to reveal the essential characteristics of the heroes. The paradigm of the mentioned conflict highlights the borders of the national and personal identities, emphasizes axiological concepts and active ideas, fundamental for Lesia Ukrainka’s dramatic works, such as the tragedy of misunderstanding, the need for constructive dialogue, the necessity of choice, the search for spiritual and national freedom, the meaning of sacrifice, and the role of art.

Abstract:
BackgroundACE-inhibitors are first choice treatment for adult and paediatric patients with heart failure. Since there are no systematic data on pharmacokinetics and safety in the young heart failure population, the EU funded a drug development program1 to fill those gaps for the ACE-inhibitor enalapril. An age appropriate paediatric formulation was also required.MethodsA paediatric patient cohort with heart failure was recruited to fulfil the paediatric investigation plan (PIP) requirements. The PIP required a total of 85 evaluable patients from birth to less than 12 years of age with a subset cohort of 25 patients with heart failure due to dilated cardiomyopathy and a subset of 60 heart failure patients of congenital heart disease. Out of these, 54% of patients must be aged below 12 months to provide a substantial amount of young patients.ResultsThe LENA consortium recruited 102 children from birth to 12 years. Out of those, 89 patients fulfilled relevant protocol criteria and could be regarded as evaluable. Of these, 26 demonstrated heart failure due to cardiomyopathy and 63 due to congenital heart disease. Sixty five patients (73%) were below 12 months of age. Moreover, 22 patients were below 3 months of age, 26 patients from 3 months to less than 6 months and 17 patients from 6 months up to 12 months of age.ConclusionsThe LENA consortium had recruited the PDCO required number of paediatric patients for the drug development program LENA. As more than 2/3 of patients belong to the most vulnerable patient population below the age of 12 months, relevant data can be generated to fill gaps for the safe and reliable treatment with ACE-inhibitors of children with heart failure.ReferencesThe research leading to these results has received funding from the European Union Seventh Framework Programme (FP7/2007–2013) under grant agreement n°602295 (LENA)Disclosure(s)Nothing to disclose

Abstract:
Problem statement: topicality, novelty, methodology of the research. The logical grounds of this article are a requirement of the scientific understanding of specific of Lesya Ukrainka’s work in the national puppet theatre and absence of articles from the marked question. Based on the comparative, diachronicsynchronic, historical, evolutional methods and principles of analytical and culturological approaches, the aim of the article – creation of panorama of the works by Lesya Ukrainka in the Ukrainian puppet theatre of last XX – early XXI century, with the exposure of specific of their interpretations, – is realized as an innovative element of the reseach. The results of the study. Lesya Ukrainka’s work, as a representation of the Ukrainian culture polyphony and Ukrainian nation’s mental horizons specificity, purchased sign status and meaningfulness of the modern scale conceptual, vivid, thematic and expression field for the intensive creative searches of modern representatives of national puppet theatre. Meaningfulness of the creative inheritance by Lesya Ukrainka in the context of the Ukrainian puppet theatre is certified by it representation on the All-Ukrainian festivals, and also activation of it introducing to the modern repertoire of puppet theatre. Research of aesthetic parameters of the specific versions of Lesya Ukrainka’s works allows to establish the presence of certain repertoire dominants – such as the “Forest song”; gravitation to implementation of the earlier not typical for the puppet theatre works as the “Old fairy tale”, and the creation of original presentations, such as the “Lesya Ukrainka. Woman fate”, “Lesya’s letters” (in particular, on the base of epistolary inheritance by authoress). The specifics of embodiment of Lesya Ukrainka’s works in the Ukrainian puppet theatre of last XX – early XX century lays in their inter-textual modification, gravitation to creation of associative artistic space and to use the unconventional systems of dolls (plane- silhouette paper doll in presentation the “Old fairy tale”). In accordance with originality of conceptual foundation of Lesya Ukrainka’s works – drama of ideas – the modern stage directors appeal to the dramaturgical type that marked by secondariness of eventfulness relatively to poetics based on updating of palette of facilities of expressiveness and ideological concepts. Such innovations in “re-reading” of works by the authoress is a dialogue of doll and living acting, that creates two dimensions in development of action (“Stone Lord”, “Forest song”), the symbolic manipulations with the piece of paper (“Lesya’s letters”), creation of synthetic artistic space of the spectacle, that combine light, color, elements of shadows theatre and theatre of reader, living acting, work with the dolls of different constructions and like other, and also intention to the conscious limiting of facilities of expressiveness (monochrome and maximum narrowing space of scenic action in interpretation of the“Forest song”). An innovative touch in the puppet versions of Lesya Ukrainka’s works is the accentuation of mental markers of the national worldview, saturation with the national attributes and folk rites, which to the attraction of contemporary artists to revive the sources of national spiritual culture. In the pluralism of puppet representations, Lesya Ukrainka’s work is marked by a general tendency to philosophical and innovative affirmation of the national foundations of the worldview and the creation of a synthetic artistic space. Conclusion. Lesya Ukrainka’s work is an open and inexhaustible thematic line for the modern national puppet theatre not only due to the lack of an established tradition of its embodiment. Philosophical, symbolic, appealed to the foundations of the national worldview the contents of her work and unbreakable connection of it with world art culture – the attributive features of the creative world of the writer, which determine its timeless relevance for contemporary artists, the conceptual and expressive diversity of its interpretations.

Abstract:
Transport of carbon, major and trace elements by rivers in permafrost-affected regions is one of the key factors in circumpolar aquatic ecosystem response to climate warming and permafrost thaw. A snap-shot study of major and trace element concentration in the Lena River basin during the peak of spring flood revealed a specific group of solutes according to their spatial pattern across the river main stem and tributaries and allowed the establishment of a link to certain landscape parameters. We demonstrate a systematic decrease of labile major and trace anion, alkali and alkaline-earth metal concentration downstream of the main stem of the Lena River, linked to change in dominant rocks from carbonate to silicate, and a northward decreasing influence of the groundwater. In contrast, dissolved organic carbon (DOC) and a number of low-soluble elements exhibited an increase in concentration from the SW to the NE part of the river. We tentatively link this to an increase in soil organic carbon stock and silicate rocks in the Lena River watershed in this direction. Among all the landscape parameters, the proportion of sporadic permafrost on the watershed strongly influenced concentrations of soluble highly mobile elements (Cl, B, DIC, Li, Na, K, Mg, Ca, Sr, Mo, As and U). Another important factor of element concentration control in the Lena River tributaries was the coverage of the watershed by light (for B, Cl, Na, K, U) and deciduous (for Fe, Ni, Zn, Ge, Rb, Zr, La, Th) needle-leaf forest (pine and larch). Our results also suggest a DOC-enhanced transport of low-soluble trace elements in the NW part of the basin. This part of the basin is dominated by silicate rocks and continuous permafrost, as compared to the carbonate rock-dominated and groundwater-affected SW part of the Lena River basin. Overall, the impact of rock lithology and permafrost on major and trace solutes of the Lena River basin during the peak of spring flood was mostly detected at the scale of the main stem. Such an impact for tributaries was much less pronounced, because of the dominance of surface flow and lower hydrological connectivity with deep groundwater in the latter. Future changes in the river water chemistry linked to climate warming and permafrost thaw at the scale of the whole river basin are likely to stem from changes in the spatial pattern of dominant vegetation as well as the permafrost regime. We argue that comparable studies of large, permafrost-affected rivers during contrasting seasons, including winter baseflow, should allow efficient prediction of future changes in riverine ‘inorganic’ hydrochemistry induced by permafrost thaw.

Abstract:
The paper deals with empathetic characteristics of Olena Pchilka’s personality in the family letters. The correspondence of the writer’s children, in particular Mychailo and Lesia, contains a number of details for the psychological portrait of Olena Pchilka; it captures her various emotional states and reactions, allows dening the communicative frames that dominated in the family. The researcher traces the formation of a specic Olena Pchilka’s cult, which concerned her roles of a writer, public person, and mother. It is conrmed by numerous enthusiastic and thankful words in the letters of her children. However, the main attention is paid to the synthesis of self-sacrice and authoritarianism in Olena Pchilka’s family pedagogy. Communication at distance between Lesia Ukraiinka and her mother turned into an experiment of modeling the image of a national writer. At the same time, the letters testify to the fact that Olena Pchilka recognised the unique gift and powerful intelligence of her daughter Lesia Ukraiinka. The mother managed to establish quite friendly relations with her elder children, but Pchilka’s desire to control the emotional world of young Kosaches, her insistent interpretation of it, and the fear of other people’s excessive influence on her children caused long-lasting conflicts, accompanied by ‘tactics of silence’. These destructive tactics resulted in emotional traumas, which, in particular, were sublimated in the literary world of Lesia Ukraiinka as a discourse of communicative rupture (“Advocate Martian”, “Johanna, Chusa’s Wife”, “Aisha and Mohammed”, “Babylonian Captivity”, etc.). It should be noted that children tried to tolerate their mother’s dependence on her psychological complexes and insistent self-isolation, understanding the unique role of Olena Pchilka in their personal development.

AbstractThe schooner Polar Bear is best known for whaling and trading voyages in the Bering, Chukchi and Beaufort seas 1911–15, and as one of the vessels of Stefansson's Canadian Arctic Expedition 1915–18. This article summarizes her later career. In 1920 she ran aground in the Kolyma Delta and was abandoned. Refloated by a Soviet captain and crew in 1925 she was used to haul much-needed supplies from a cache near Chaunskaya Guba to Nizhnekolymsk. Renamed Polyarnaya Zvezda, in 1926 she made the first coastwise voyage of modern times from the Kolyma to the Lena, inaugurating a regular sea link with the Lena basin. In 1927 she carried building materials for a scientific station from Tiksi at the mouth of the Lena to Mys Shalaurova on Ostrov Bol'shoy Lyakhovskiy. After wintering at Yakutsk, in summer 1928 she towed a barge laden with supplies for the station down river to Tiksi and carried supplies and personnel to the station to Mys Shalaurova. The station is still in operation, an integral component of the network of support facilities which enables the Northern Sea Route to function. In 1929 the schooner was reported unfit for further duties; her subsequent fate is unknown.

Abstract:
The Lena River in the Laptev Sea forms a vast delta, one of the largest in the world. The Ust-Lensky State Nature Reserve saves biodiversity on the Lena Delta territory beyond the Arctic Circle, in the zone of continuous permafrost. In recent years, large-scale plans for the development of extractive industries are implemented in this Russian Arctic sector. In this regard, the study of biodiversity and bioindication properties of aquatic organisms in the Lena River estuary area is becoming more and more relevant. This study aims to identify the species composition of microalgae in lotic and lentic water bodies of the Lena River Delta and use their indicator property for water salinity. It was a trace indicator of species distribution over the delta and their dynamics along the delta main watercourses to assess the impact of river waters on the Laptev Sea coastal areas. For this, all previously published materials on algae and chemical composition of the region waters as well as data obtained in recent years for the waters of the lower Lena reach were involved. In total, 700 species considered to 10 phyla were analyzed: Cyanobacteria (83), Euglenozoa (13), Ochrophyta (Chrysophyta, Xanthophyta) (41), Eustigmatophyta (4), Bacillariophyta (297), Miozoa (20), Cryptophyta (3), Rhodophyta (1), Chlorophyta (125), and Charophyta (111). The available materials of the field and reference observations were analyzed using several statistical methods. The study results indicate that hydrological conditions are the main factor regulating the spatial structure of the species composition of the microalgae communities in the Lena River Delta. The distribution of groups of salinity indicators across flowing water bodies reflects the effect of water salinity, and this allows suggesting possible sources of this effect. The mechanism of tracking the distribution of environmental indicators itself is a sensitive method, that reveals even their subtle changes in them; therefore, as an integral method, it can be helpful for further monitoring.

Abstract:
The present work studied the effect of aqueous extract from duckweed Lemna minor frond on morphological state of the thyroid gland in the experimental hypothyroidism. Healthy albino rats weighing between 120 g and 150 g were used. The animalswere randomly allotted into four groups, each containing ten rats respectively. Three of the groups (II, III and IV) induced with hypothyroidism by 1 % solution of sodium perchlorate with drinking water for 20 days. Control (vehicle) rats were given normal saline. After 20 days hypothyroid groups (III and IV) of rats treated with aqueous extract from duckweed Lemna minor frond at a dose 0.5 ml/100 g of body weight and with Iodomarin 200 (reference drug) at a dose 12 µg/kg daily orally for 21 days. Results obtained from the study showed that the introduction of sodium perchlorate leads to morphological and functional changes in the structure of the thyroid gland in rats, accompanied by sings of hyperplastic tissue proliferation and corresponds with hypofunctional state. It was established that introduction of aqueous extract from duckweed Lemna minor frond has a positive effect on the restructuring of the thyroid gland in rats with hypothyroidism, increasing its functional activity. There is a decrease of proliferative processes by extrafolliсular epithelium and thyrocytes in the follicles. The outer diameter of follicles decreased by 7.65 % (P>0.05), the height and size of thyrocytes in the wall of the follicle were significantly decreased by 58.16 % and 18 41 %, respectively, compared to untreated hypothyroid group. The obtained results have practical significance for the development of drugs with thyroid-stimulating action for preventing or delaying the development of hypothyroidism and its complications.

Abstract:
The article is focused on Lesia Ukrainka’s famous drama The Stone Master (Kaminnyi Hospodar), her remake of the Don Juan legend. The author of the article, Ukrainian philosopher Volodymyr Yermolenko, localizes Lesia’s masterpiece in a broader European tradition of the legend. He compares The Stone Master with the previous version of the Don Juan legend, by Tirso de Molina (The Trickster of Seville), Moli re (Dom Juan), Mozart (Don Giovanni), Hoffmann (Don Juan), Grabbe (Faust and Don Juan) and others. He analyzes Lesia’s originality within this tradition. He also reads The Stone Master in the context of the dialogue between different epochs: the Baroque, Classicism, Rococo / Enlightenment, Romanticism, Post-Romanticism. Each of the epochs develops its specific version of Don Juan legend, according to Yermolenko, which reflects a specific concept of human being and human relations developed at each particular period. While the “Baroque” Don Juan of Tirso de Molina marks the crisis of the culture of honor, the “Classicist” Don Juan of Moli re shows the development of a culture of knowledge and general concepts, and the “Romantic” Don Juan of Byron and Hoffmann is a symptorm of a new 19th century culture of will and transformation. In this respect, it is important to look at Lesia Ukrainka’s text as a battleground of “Romantic” will to freedom and “Post-Romantic” (or fin de siècle) will to power. In this context, Yermolenko reads The Stone Master (written in 1912) as a criticism of the fashionable topic of “will to power”, and as a political warning, with Lesia Ukrainka showing the upcoming horrors of the 20th century’s authoritarianism and totalitarianism. With the help of the concept of eropolitics, the author shows how, through the erotic topic, Lesia Ukrainka passed a major political message to her epoch — and ours as well.

Abstract:
The purpose of the proposed scientific research is to study the correspondence between Mykhailo Kosach and Lesia Ukrainka as an organic component of the national journalism of the turn of the century in the direction of discussing the ways of forming the Ukrainian political nation. To solve the tasks, the author of the article used the following methods: problem-thematic, analytical, systematic and comparative analysis. The article notes that certain political accents of the epistolary heritage of the famous Ukrainian family have not lost their relevance for today’s creators of journalistic discourse as an important source for clarifying the mood of the then conscious national intelligentsia, the state of development of the Ukrainian national idea. The author of the article claims that the epistolary legacy of Mykhailo Kosach and Lesia Ukrainka complements the journalistic discourse of the late 19th and early 20th centuries on the ways of forming the Ukrainian political nation, and will become a model of tolerant dialogue on current political issues.

Abstract:
"The aim of the work is to determine the influence of the characteristic features of the linguistic and style environment of the second half of the twentieth century on the development of Lesia Dychko's creative personality (on the example of the song cycles Pastels and Enharmonic, written to the words of P. Tychyna). The analyzed song cycles demonstrate the artist’s deep penetration into the figurative concept of the poet's free verses, reflecting its semantic properties by musical means. We notice a lot in common and consonant in the works of both artists, namely, an impressionistic vision and perception of the surrounding world, a deep philosophical understanding of nature, a symbolic load of images. The musical-theoretical analysis of the cycles has shown the principles of the development of material common to poetry and music, such as cross-cutting development, leitmotif, etc. The article reveals another facet of the composer's stylistic direction, namely, the expressive means inherent in impressionism: the coloristic function of harmony, ostinato techniques and organ points, the melodic line of recitative-declamatory or instrumental plan. The overwhelming majority of them correspond to the principles of impressionism in combination with modern innovative techniques of the musical language and personal individual stylistic features of the composer. Keywords: Lesia Dychko, song cycles, poetic and musical texts, poetry of Pavlo Tychyna, impressionism. "

Abstract:
The unfair gender roles under patriarchal system are constructed to preserve gender inequality between men and women. Gender role practices extend gradually to maintain the male hegemony to make women powerless because female traditional gender roles (femininities) create dependency to men. Men are assigned to masculinities equipped with power, whereas women are ascribed to femininities to set boundaries that limit their movement. Yet, the increase of female awareness of gender equality has changed this situation. Gender roles are gradually shifting from traditional to modern as the opportunities to receive education and job open widely to develop women's roles that enable them to give financial contribution to the family. This study was purposed to analyze the shift in gender roles in 'The Joy Luck Club' and 'The Kite Runner'. This study used qualitative design in which Chinese traditional gender roles were described using Confucian perspective, whereas Afghan traditional gender roles were exposed in Islamic perspective. Moreover, Karl Marx's conflict theory was used to analyze the shift in gender roles in both novels. The results of study found that the construction of traditional gender roles in both China and Afghanistan was influenced mostly by patriarchy which perceives men as more superior than women. However, the dynamic changes of gender roles, especially femininities, supported by the increase of female education and occupation provide women with more power to achieve development. Further studies are encouraged to analyze other gender roles which have not discussed in this study.

Abstract:
This article deals with using computer vision in the evaluation of the Lemna minor bioassay. According to the conventional method, the growth of Lemna minor mass is determined from the number of leaves grown. In this work, instead of counting individual leaves, we propose measuring the area occupied by the leaves using computer vision and compare the new approach with the conventional one. The bioassay is performed according to the ISO 20079 standard as a 168 h growth inhibition test; the aim of the experiment was to quantify the negative effects on the vegetative growth using two parameters—the number of leaves and the area occupied by the leaves. The method based on image processing was faster and also more precise since it enabled us to detect the negative effect of the tested substance on leave size, not only on their number. It can be concluded that the toxic effect has shown to be more significant when considering the leaves area rather than the number of leaves. Moreover, mistakes caused by human factor during leaves counting are eliminated using the computer vision based method.

Abstract:
The article provides a source analysis of the journal "Lesa Respubliki", published in the RSFSR in 1918-1919 and which was the official press organ of the People's Commissariat of Agriculture. Issues of forest policy gained particular relevance after the revolutionary events of 1917, the abolition of all types of forest ownership, a radical restructuring of the entire state apparatus and the rejection of forest legislation of pre-revolutionary Russia. The journal discussed various directions of development of the forestry sector of the national economy of Soviet Russia. Special attention was paid to the issues of forestry legislation, the system of local and central government, forest protection, the development of forest trade and industry, staffing of forestry, and the organization of specialized education. Under the influence of the civil war and the deepest socioeconomic crisis associated with it, the issue of providing fuel to industrial enterprises, transport, Soviet institutions and individual citizens acquired the most acute sound. The journal "Lesa Respubliki" is a valuable source in the study of the genesis of the national state forest policy.

Abstract:
Leïla Slimani's novel Dans le Jardin de l'Ogre (2014) examines the elements that influence the development and construction of female sexuality. Borrowing from the theories of Rossi Braidotti, aspects of motherhood and monstrosity are explored through this research. Content analysis is used as the research method, as it enables the convenient review of applicable and relevant data, i.e. the polarization between mothers and monsters. This study employs the notes technique as its research technique. It finds that, in Dans le Jardin de l'Ogre, women are depicted as internalizing values that support the dominant constructs of their sexuality. As a result, women face severe consequences if they exhibit sexuality that is considered as outside the norms.

Abstract:
Purpose The Language Environment Analysis (LENA) system provides automated measures facilitating clinical and nonclinical research and interventions on language development, but there are only a few, scattered independent reports of these measures' validity. The objectives of the current systematic review were to (a) discover studies comparing LENA output with manual annotation, namely, accuracy of talker labels, as well as involving adult word counts (AWCs), conversational turn counts (CTCs), and child vocalization counts (CVCs); (b) describe them qualitatively; (c) quantitatively integrate them to assess central tendencies; and (d) quantitatively integrate them to assess potential moderators. Method Searches on Google Scholar, PubMed, Scopus, and PsycInfo were combined with expert knowledge, and interarticle citations resulting in 238 records screened and 73 records whose full text was inspected. To be included, studies must target children under the age of 18 years and report on accuracy of LENA labels (e.g., precision and/or recall) and/or AWC, CTC, or CVC (correlations and/or error metrics). Results A total of 33 studies, in 28 articles, were discovered. A qualitative review revealed most validation studies had not been peer reviewed as such and failed to report key methodology and results. Quantitative integration of the results was possible for a broad definition of recall and precision ( M = 59% and 68%, respectively; N = 12–13), for AWC (mean r = .79, N = 13), CVC (mean r = .77, N = 5), and CTC (mean r = .36, N = 6). Publication bias and moderators could not be assessed meta-analytically. Conclusion Further research and improved reporting are needed in studies evaluating LENA segmentation and quantification accuracy, with work investigating CTC being particularly urgent. Abstract:
Abstract This paper compares the methods of organisation of cultural and social life in three municipalities which were awarded the “Village of the Year” title, namely the municipalities of Oravská Lesná, Liptovská Teplička and Spišský Hrhov. The research in these three municipalities suggests several historical and socio-economic similarities between the villages of Oravská Lesná and Liptovská Teplička, which contrasts with the situation in Spišský Hrhov. These similarities and differences between the municipalities are also manifested at the level of their cultural and social life and development strategies. On one hand, we have the traditional mountainous villages with stable long-term and internally driven demography; on the other hand, a changing municipality with a high rate of immigration. In the former case, activities related to the identity of a traditional municipality are being developed, while in the latter case, the identity of the municipality is being actively created also through new cultural and social activities. The key factors of the municipalities’ cultural and social life in both cases are initiative inhabitants and proactive self-governments open to their initiatives.

Abstract:
Research work on an assessment of efficiency of biogenic Akwa-Biot-Norm feed additive developed by scientists is carried out. It is established that application to Lena sturgeon of biogenic feed additive on the basis of a polysaccharide complex of barmy cages Saccharomyces cerevisiae stimulated growth and development of fishes, promoted reliable increase in concentration of hemoglobin, both due to increase in quantity of erythrocytes, and due to increase of their functional activity that demonstrates activization of a gemopoez, increase in intensity of oxidationreduction processes and metabolism in general. Increase in absolute quantity of leukocytes, with the expressed increase in a share of lymphocytes and decrease in relative quantity of neutrophils, basophiles and eosinophils within physiological norms is revealed. These changes of leukocyte profile of Lena sturgeon testify to high extent of development of a cellular link of immunity. The amount of the general protein has increased in serum of blood of Lena sturgeon, which demonstrates activization of synthetic processes in organism of sturgeons and, as a result, increase the intensity of their growth. Significantly increased the value of such indicators of nonspecific resistance of organism of fishes as bactericidal activity of serum of blood for 4,0 %, phagocytic activity of neutrophils – for 5,5 % and concentration of proteolytic enzyme of lysozyme – for 142,9 % that demonstrates activization of cellular and humoral links of nonspecific resistance of an organism. The conducted researches are confirmed by efficiency of application of biogenic Akwa-Biot-Norm feed additive for stimulation of growth and prevention of incidence of fishes due to activization of nonspecific resistance of an organism in the conditions of ecological and technological pressure.

ABSTRACTThe first woman to work as a professional scientist in Antarctica was Mariya Vasilyevna Klyonova, during the first Soviet Antarctic Expedition of 1955–1957. Other women were crew members on the icebreakers Lena and Ob’. There is an outside possibility that there was more to one of them than meets the eye. But we shall never know.
