ASD has an estimated prevalence of 1 in 68, making it one of the most common neurodevelopmental disorders in children. Furthermore, its prevalence is increasing; therefore, there is a rising demand for screening tools to help achieve beneficial early diagnosis and intervention outcomes. This suggests that BPD has one of the highest lethality rates of all psychiatric disorders. Abstract:
Genetic and home chaos influences in early childhood have been independently associated with externalizing problems, characterized by inattentive, hyperactive, and aggressive behaviors. However, the Behavioral Genetics approach indicates that genetic and environmental influences, although independently effective, interact to produce behavior throughout development. Thus, this thesis uses two samples, the Early Growth and Development study (EGDS), n= 564, and the Avon Longitudinal Study of Parents and Children (ALSPAC), n= 8,952, and two genetically-sensitive approaches, a parent-child adoption

Hrabok, Marianne Marjorie. "Relations between cognitive control and emotion in typically developing children." Thesis, 2010. http://hdl.handle.net/1828/2386.

Abstract:
Objective: The goal of this study was to investigate relations between aspects of cognitive control and emotion in typically developing children, 7 to 9 years of age. This was investigated by examining performance on n-back working memory tasks that varied according to the level of cognitive control and emotion (e.g., faces, reward value) processing required. Relations between n-back performance and parental questionnaires of behavior were also examined. Participants & Methods: Participants included 77 typically developing children, 7 to 9 years of age. Each participant completed two novel n-

Abstract:
Cannabis (and its main psychoactive component, THC) is one of the most widely-used drugs in the world, and recent expansion of its legal status has made it available in a variety of formulations and at a potency unrivaled in history. While its medicinal properties are gaining scientific support, so too is its potential to lead to abuse and dependence. Both initiation of cannabis use and frequent cannabis use are most prevalent in adolescence, and compared to adults, cannabis use by adolescents is associated with a greater likelihood of developing cannabis dependence and cannabis use disorder

There were mainly two models on language comprehension process: the Memory, Unification & Control (MUC) model (Hagroot, 2005) and the Bilateral Activation, Integration, and Selection(BAIS) model (Jung-Beeman, 2005). Nevertheless, the cognitive functions and brain areas involved were different and conflicted between two models. Abstract:
Craniosynostosis is a common developmental disorder characterised by premature, pathological fusion of one or more of the fibrous connections, or sutures, that normally separate the bony plates of the skull during early development. Premature sutural fusion, typically occurring in utero, results in anomalous skull growth, and may have consequences for the developing brain. Most cases of single-suture craniosynostosis (SSC) require surgery, preferentially performed within the first year of life, to release the fused suture and reshape the deformed skull and improve brain growth potential.
