Abstract:
The book presents developmental outcomes from an EU Erasmus+ project involving eight partner universities in seven countries in Europe. Its focus is the development of mathematics teaching and learning at university level to enhance the learning of mathematics by university students. Its theoretical focus is inquiry-based teaching and learning. It bases all activity on a three-layer model of inquiry: (1) Inquiry in mathematics and in the learning of mathematics in lecture, tutorial, seminar or workshop, involving students and teachers; (2) Inquiry in mathematics teaching involving teachers exp

Abstract:
Vein of Galen malformation (VGM) is a high-flow intracranial vascular malformation, presenting in utero or after birth with a range of initial symptoms. The natural history of untreated VGM is grave, with progressive permanent neurological dysfunction, developmental delay, seizures, intracranial hemorrhage, and death. Presentation varies with age, with more severe manifestations resulting in earlier presentation and poorer outcome. The mainstay of treatment is medical stabilization followed by endovascular embolization. The goal is to reduce flow through the malformation such that normal devel

This chapter provides a nontechnical review of new statistical methodology for longitudinal data analysis that has been published in statistical journals in recent years. The methodology has applications in four important areas: (1) conducting variable selection among many highly correlated risk factors when the outcome measure is zero-inflated count; (2) characterizing developmental trajectories of symptomatology using regression splines; (3) modeling the longitudinal association between risk factors and substance use outcomes as time-varying effects; and (4) testing measurement reactivity an
