That accounts fo its preoccupation to clear up above all the negatif effect of the disguised unemployment and the positif effect of the technical progress on the agricultural surplus. Then this thesis tries to define the notion of the mobilized agricultural surplus and its means to finance the non-agricultural development to explain the causes of the egyptian economic developement crisis. As far as egypt is concerned, the thesis concludes on the following points : 1- the disguised unemployment is an actual phenomenon. 2- the agricultural surplus depends essentially on the technical progress of agriculture. 3- the mobilized agricultural surplus tends generally to increase. 4- the non-agricultural development is caracterized by the relatif growth of the terciary sector. 5- the industrial sector is relatively short of skilled works. Therefore, the thesis insists on the necessity of the agricultural surplus increase the mobilized agricultural surplus and the formation of industrial skilled workers

Full textThe purpose of this Ph. D. Thesis is to analyse the impact of exogenous resources booms on the development of Egyptian manufacturing. Our interest for the manufacturing sector comes from its central contribution for the long-run growth. If it is generating the sources of long-run growth, an unexpected decline, even temporary, of this sector may, ceteris paribus, have irreversible effects in terms of growth performances. Egyptian manufacturing sector has known such a decline between 1974 and 1985. During this very period, Egypt has also known several positive external shocks, related to the once-for-all surge of four types of revenues : aid, oil, Suez canal revenues and worker remittances. At first sight, the theory of the Dutch disease, analysing how a boom may induce a deindustrialisation, seemed to us particularly relevant for explaining the Egyptian experience. .

Forouheshfar, Yeganeh. "Financial sector development, economic growth and demography in MENA region." Thesis, Paris Sciences et Lettres (ComUE), 2017. http://www.theses.fr/2017PSLED037/document.
Full textThis thesis studies the impact of the financial markets on economic growth for MENA region. The first chapter presents a general overview of the region, with a focus on economic, demographic and financial market outlook of the region. In the second chapter an overlapping generation model is presented, that links economic development, financial markets and demographic shift. The model is simulated for three countries in the region with different speeds in demographic shift. The results show that a more efficient financial sector leads to better economic performance and higher employment rates, furthermore, youth are the primary beneficiaries of the reform in the financial sector. The third chapter tests empirically the link between the financial sector and the real sector in 15 MENA countries and finds a negative impact of financial sector development on growth. These results underline the expansion of an inefficient financial sector in the region, and the urgent need to focus on policies that target the efficiency of the sector and not solely its size. A comprehensive composite index for the financial sector development is developed in the fourth chapter. This index is based on three pillars that are, macroeconomic environment, financial institutions and financial markets. The index takes into account the specificities of MENA countries and allows us to rank the countries in the region according to their performance in the financial sector

Full textPublic-private partnership is an instrument for achieving development objectives in Egypt. On the international level, the use of the PPP model raises complicated challenges and difficulties. The complex nature of such projects increase the probability of disputes between the parties. The comparative analysis of the British and French experience allows the elaboration of a reference for the Egyptian government in the legal and economicreforms. In order to improve the management of PPP projects in Egypt, two approaches can be addressed in our research. First, the development of an effective risk management methodology through the analysis of the types of risk associated with PPP during the life cycle of the project. Second, the presentation of the most effective mechanisms for the resolution of disputes arising from PPP projects
