Full textAbstract under the influence of various cultural systems and the immigrant rural societies, the south-western plateaus have known evolution with small shrub culture introduction (coffee and cocoa) and with the development of plantation economy. From yesterday traditional culture of self-consumption, peasantry in the region now is turned toward farming exportation. This farming method development has been possible thanks to the presence in the region, since 1971, para-states support, principally national society for coffee and cocoa renovation (s. Rc. C), and thanks to the contribution of immigrant rural communities among which se find and an important native society from north-Togo. The preservation of this outside workmanship in farms has needed specific agreements (contracts). Since than, the landscaping has undergone modifications and development as land using and farming methods. The interest shrub culture led to new clearing of cultivation and extension of areas. In the new agriculture politics, the food crops had a small place. Most of the time, they are practiced on top sides and savannah environments where agronomical conditions are not really favorable. The mode of agricultural system actually interested the farmers, the planters and the whole rural societies. Unfortunately, the first years enthusiasm faded away. Innovations appear in agricultural production systems. They take the form of the progressive come-back of food-crops in savannah environment with immigrant peasant societies methods. Like the cash crops, the reappearance of food crops has social consequences (implications) about land use and agrarian system organization

Full textTourism and changes in rural areas. Using this link as a mater of analysis, this research offers a new and revival reading of the spacial stakes linked to this economic and social phenomenum which questions at the same time rural life, its place in the society and a new qualification of this area. From a scientific point of view consacrated to rural life, one has little questioned yet on capacity that rural societies have to make their patterns of development grow, creating then collective actions in tourism areas. In a context of devolution and public politics territorialisation, this thesis offers an analysis of the ways of organisations and structuring of competences of actors around what is called Pays projects. Who does invest and give oneself the means of interfering in the ways of constructions and negociations in territorial resources? What part and place do local actors give to touristic activity in their territorial projects? Considering three Pays in South Western France, we will point out the capacity of mobilisation of local actors around touristic projects, specific means and actions which struture them along with the networks that underline them, we will offer in the end elements of interpretation of touristic function in the process of territorial development in rural areas

Full textThis research is dealing with the problem of development in an arid area, where agricultural activities are largely dependent upon the presence of water resource. Water is for this reason the determining factor for the economic and social development of the area. This study tries to give an ethnological diagnosis of the hydraulic organization under its social and technical aspects in the oasis of the area. Beyond this attempt, it aims on the one hand to propose a restructuration of the hydro-agricultural developments, and on the other hand to enunciate a project of rural development which would integrate the economical potentialities, the latter depending largely upon the climatic conditions of the region, and the real needs of the inhabitants in terms of development. The approach chosen for this study is ethno-ecological, which means that it allows a better understanding of the interactions between the natural and human environments (ecological and sociological data) in an arid region. The proposals expressed for economic and social development may help the local authorities to better understand the problems faced by each of the communities in order to find answers suited to these needs

Full textIn a sahel region of africa, animal production is first of all the business of the peul people; therefore trying to improve it means looking for a rise in a rise in the standard of living of this community. The south west of ferio is a zone of contact as well as a zone of permanent conflicts between the defenders of two systems of extensive production: one is pastoral supported by the4 peul, and the other is agriculture defended by the wolof and serer famers. The oppositions and rivalities provoked by these two systems strengthen the competition and the brawels between social groups. Now minority in the zone, the livestok rearers are loosers in the villages they have set up. Draught, overgrazing, the dispersion of livestock farmers, the lack of marketing infrastructures, of remunerative prices, of policies of planning together of rural organisation and development put the livestock into a state of quasi-perpetual crisis. Faced with this two-fold contraint of endemic as well as structural nature, the rearers have adoped adapta tive strategies to sustain their activity and for income resource diversification

Full textIn this research, we study the process of recent changes that taken place in the Touat’s space and society, changes that affect the oasis ecosystem and lead to a new relation between city/country represented in the city of Adrar and his agricultural development. These changes are projected in one way or another on the oasis’s agricultural land and the ksour’s space, where the oasis is engaged in a large-scale economic and social openness. Therefore, it is experiencing strong population pressure that resulted from the recent increase of its population. These mutations are largely supported by state policy. The state plans will draw a new landscape of Sahara. In a n effort to create a territorial equity, the Saharan cities all have basic functions (education, health and administration) plus the planned housing programs, collective and individual similar to the north. Furthermore, given the richness of his basement, the Sahara is expected to contribute to the country’s food independence. To this end, land reforms were introduced specifically to encourage the Sahara to adopt a new enhancement and move to new production techniques and irrigation. The main purpose of our study is to know: how far the state was able to redesign the space and the Saharan society? And to what degree these changes have affected the traditional habitat, the small food production and vernacular irrigation methods. And finally, did the state reached to control and verify the new forms of Saharan land?

Full textPanning for gold is a controversial issue that leaves no one indifferent; if for some it is a source of nuisance for others it represents a way to fight against poverty. To better understand the phenomenon, this study was conducted nearby three groups of actors in the rural commune of Gbomblora Department that are farmers, miners and agro-miners. Benchmarking shows that gold panning is not only a central element of the system of activities of farming households that contributes to the fight against poverty, but the practice of parallel gold panning also enables farmers to run their farms . The study also demonstrated that contrary to ideas that panning for gold are spaces of disorder and lawlessness, the activity is rather governed by a form of collective governance that ensures its operation despite some shortcomings. Keywords: gold panning, system of household activities, agriculture, integrated rural development, territory.

Full textThis study comes within the scope of a recent historiographical trend to change perception of the industrialisation of the South-West of France which is often approached from the perspective of underdevelopment . It aims at reconstructing the « paths » of different textile industries in the Basses-Pyrénées / Pyrénées-Atlantiques from late 18th century to late 20th century, based on the study of produce, markets, producting organisations, firms, views and representations. The research points out the importance, structuring and the diversity of textile industries : complete industrial processes can be found in Basses-Pyrénées for several fibres (cotton, linen, wool, jute) and some products are produced and sold by millions (berets, sandals and, to a leaser extent, basque linen, wool of the Pyrénées...). The maintain of “soft” producting organisations, the massive use of hydraulic power and the domination of family businesses are also linked with fast technical changes and strong ability of industrial reconversion inside various industrial countries and small or middle-sized towns. In the end, these industrial “paths” reveal the economical integration of Basses-Pyrénées on different scales, from local to international, as regards raw material, markets or technical, or financial and human movements. The exploitation of regional opportunities plays a major role in the continuity of these textile industries : proximity of Spain, continuing consumption in the pyrenean area, emigration to America, tourism, regionalistic vogue for Bearn, Basque Country and Pyrénées

Full textThe J'farra, the region crossed by the Tunisian-Libyan border, is the history land of tribal confederations; the Werghemmas and the Nouaïels. For nearly a century, she knows a set of mutations that affect both types of resource and the landscape. In a predominantly pastoral region, dominated by a tribal and nomadic social organization, the J'farra experienced a period of economic marginality before becoming, since the year 1989 the earth of smuggling. However, the J'farra is not only an area of tolerance established by the authorities or an exemption zone economic or legal exception, but a territory of structured claims from local tribal groups, forms of subversion of the border, informal activities of various forms inherent in the globalization of trade and symbolic representations based on the values of the past. When the local tribal networks have succeeded in creating a new economic reality through informal activities around the border, agrees that an early re-territorialisation around. The networks are driven primarily by a particular category, the aâmem. The aâmem have shown themselves capable of inventing alternative forms of supervision that have replaced those of the state and managed to "make land". However, the territory in the emerging J'farra is not homogeneous and leads to a series of clashes. In addition, the network is a system j'farri action and authority, and it is characterized by a hierarchy and inequality among its members, generating divisions among its members. The activity of the informal network of transnational j'farri not working in opposition to the State territory as against the state institution to which he tries to escape. The transgression of the border, the trivialization of its crossing by the descendants of ancient nomads, the reactivation of old tribal solidarity within border informal trade networks and the integration to the globalized market, paving the way for the reinvention, according to new practices , the former "conceiving of life" of the population of J'farra and its territory
