Abstract:
In previous studies we used Laurent Schwartz’ theory of distributions to rigorously introduce discretizations and periodizations on tempered distributions. These results are now used in this study to derive a validity statement for four interlinking formulas. They are variants of Poisson’s Summation Formula and connect four commonly defined Fourier transforms to one another, the integral Fourier transform, the Discrete-Time Fourier Transform (DTFT), the Discrete Fourier Transform (DFT) and the integral Fourier transform for periodic functions—used to analyze Fourier series. We prove that under certain conditions, these four Fourier transforms become particular cases of the Fourier transform in the tempered distributions sense. We first derive four interlinking formulas from four definitions of the Fourier transform pure symbolically. Then, using our previous results, we specify three conditions for the validity of these formulas in the tempered distributions sense.

Abstract:
<span>Image watermarking is one of the most popular techniques for authenticating copyright on the digital image. Many research on image watermarking has proved that the joint of Discrete Cosine Transform (DCT) and Discrete Wavelet Transform (DWT) combinations can improve both imperceptibility and robustness when compared to DCT or DWT only. Discrete Tchebichef Transform (DTT) denotes an alternative transformation that has a similarity property with DCT. DTT has an advantage in reducing memory requirements during computing, so the calculation speed is much faster than DCT. This study tested the performance of DTT and DCT on non-blind image watermarking method, where DTT and DCT are performed after DWT. Based on the experimental results, this research proved that the DTT was combined successfully with DWT and very potential for further investigation because it has a computing performance much better than DCT. While the image watermarking quality, both the imperceptibility and robustness aspects were completely identical with the combination of DCT and DWT transformation.</span>

The coprime discrete Fourier transform (DFT) filter banks provide an effective scheme of spectral sensing for wide-sense stationary (WSS) signals in case that the sampling rate is far lower than the Nyquist sampling rate. And the resolution of the coprime DFT filter banks in the Fourier domain (FD) is 2π/MN, where M and N are coprime. In this work, a digital fractional Fourier transform- (DFrFT-) based coprime filter banks spectrum sensing method is suggested. Our proposed method has the same sampling principle as the coprime DFT filter banks but has some advantages compared to the coprime DFT filter banks. Firstly, the fractional power spectrum of the chirp-stationary signals which are nonstationary in the FD can be sensed effectively by the coprime DFrFT filter banks because of the linear time-invariant (LTI) property of the proposed system in discrete-time Fourier domain (DTFD), while the coprime DFT filter banks can only sense the power spectrum of the WSS signals. Secondly, the coprime DFrFT filter banks improve the resolution from 2π/MN to 2π sin α/MN by combining the fractional filter banks theory with the coprime theory. Simulation results confirm the obtained analytical results.

Abstract:
In this paper using Density Functional Theory (DFT), the principal carbonallo tropic crystalline structures (Diamond, graphite, nanotube y fullerene-C60) were simulated. The results shows diamond sp3 bonds formation between carbon atomsand low reactivity, indicating low probability of lateral compound formation and high mechanical properties. Interplanar weakness was evidentin graphite structure, which is related to solid lubrication process. Carbon-Carbon metallic bonds and polarizations at the edges of the structure were observed in Armchair Carbon Nanotube, stabilizing the system which allows the nanotube continuous growth. In fullerene C60structureaFaraday nano-gauge behavior was confirmed, together withlowprobability of interatomic polarization, indicating high structural stability. Besides Total Energy (TE) and Nuclear Repulsion Energy (NRE) values were used to perform energetic comparisons between different structures, allowing the study of electronic stability and their relationship to mechanical properties.

Abstract:
Side chain engineering has been an effective approach to modulate the solution processability, optoelectronic properties and miscibility of conjugated polymers (CPs) for organic/polymeric photovoltaic cells (PVCs). As compared with the most commonly used method of introducing alkyl chains, the employment of alkyl-substituted aryl flanks would provide two-dimensional (2-D) CPs having solution processability alongside additional merits like deepened highest occupied molecular orbital (HOMO) energy levels, increased absorption coefficient and charger transporting, etc. In this paper, the triple C≡C bond was used as conjugated linker to decrease the steric hindrance between the flanks of 4,5-didecylthien-2-yl (T) and dithieno[2,3-d:2’,3’-d’]benzo[1,2-b:4,5-b’]dithiophene (DTBDT) core. In addition, an alternating CP derived from 4,5-didecylthien-2-yl-ethynyl (TE) flanked DTBDT, and 4,9-bis(4-octylthien-2-yl) naphtho[1,2-c:5,6-c’]bis[1,2,5]thiadiazole (DTNT), named as PDTBDT-TE-DTNT, was synthesized and characterized. As compared with the controlled PDTBDT-T-DTNT, which was derived from 4,5-didecylthien-2-yl flanked DTBDT and DTNT, the results for exciton dissociation probability, density functional theory (DFT), time-resolved photoluminescence (PL) measurements, etc., revealed that the lower steric hindrance between TE and DTBDT might lead to the easier rotation of the TE flanks, thus contributing to the decrease of the exciton lifetime and dissociation probability, finally suppressing the short-circuit current density (JSC), etc., of the photovoltaic devices from PDTBDT-TE-DTNT.

Esta tese propõe dois métodos de estimação fasorial do componente fundamental. O pri-meiro estima o fasor na presença de componentes harmônicos, decaimento CC exponen-cial e ruído. O segundo estima o fasor na presença de componentes harmônicos, inter-harmônicos, inter-harmônicos variantes no tempo, decaimento CC exponencial e ruído. Todos os componentes de sinais utilizados são modelados e, para facilitar o entendimento dos métodos que serão propostos, os componentes são divididos em dois grupos: compo-nentes gerais e componentes extras. Alguns algoritmos de estimação existentes na litera-tura são estudados e dois são escolhidos para compor as proposições: DFT com suas va-riações e métodos de subespaços. O primeiro método sintetiza e implementa uma janela seguida da aplicação de uma DTFT para eliminar os componentes fundamental e harmô-nicos do sinal. O resultado é utilizado para estimar a influência do decaimento CC expo-nencial no componente fundamental. Esta influência é subtraída de uma estimação faso-rial via DFT para obter o componente fundamental correto. O segundo método utiliza esta mesma estrutura, entretanto insere um método de subespaço para calcular a frequência e constante de tempo dos componentes extras. Essa união cria um algoritmo distinto dos encontrados na literatura e nomeado de DTFT ESPRIT. A partir da possibilidade dos novos cálculos, o método consegue estimar o componente fundamental na presença de inter-harmônicos e inter-harmônicos variantes no tempo, além de harmônicos, decai-mento CC exponencial e ruído.
This thesis proposes two methods to estimate the phasor of the fundamental frequency component. The first one estimates the phasor in the presence of harmonic, decaying DC, and noise. The second one estimates the phasor in the presence of harmonics, inter-har-monics, time-varying inter-harmonics, decaying DC, and noise. All the signal compo-nents to be used are modeled and divided in two groups (general components and extra componentes) to better understand the proposed methods. The existing estimation algo-rithms in the literature are studied and described. Two algorithms are chosen as part of the new propositions: DFT and its variations and subspaces methods. The first method synthesizes and implements a DTFT window to eliminate the fundamental frequency and harmonic components of the signal. The result is used to estimate the influence of the decaying DC in the fundamental frequency component. This influence is subtracted from a phasor estimation via DFT in order to get the correct fundamental component. The second method has the same structure, however uses a subspace method for computing the frequency and time constant of the extra components. This combination creates a new algorithm named DTFT ESPRIT. From the new variable computing, the method is able to estimate the fundamental frequency component in the presence of different types of components as well as harmonics, decaying DC, and noise: inter-harmonics and time-varying inter-harmonics.

Abstract:
This thesis examines the politics of the policy process concerning the introduction of digital terrestrial television (DTT) in Bulgaria. Bulgaria is an Eastern European post-communist country and a member of the European Union (EU) since 2007. The policy of digitalisation of terrestrial broadcasting is studied from a domestic perspective that focuses on the relevance of the national institutional structures and their response to internal and external (notably EU) influences. The thesis relies primarily on the ‘new institutionalist’ theoretical approach to examine how historical path dependencies and state capacities have enabled or disabled certain types of behaviour by public and private actors which have in turn shaped the policy process. In this respect, the role of the EU is seen as refracted through the prism of domestic arrangements, capacities and interests. The thesis demonstrates that the weak institutional capacities of the Bulgarian state, political patronage, clientelism and cronyism, failed to ensure a clear, fair and transparent DTT switchover policy. Sectoral broadcasting characteristics including the prominence of pay-for platforms and small market size contributed to this result, yet the thesis argues that the extent of their impact has been determined by structural characteristics within which the desion-making process has taken place. The thesis shows that far from genuine public interest objectives - such as increased media plurality, a stronger role for PSB, more competition within and between platforms, and efficient use of spectrum - the DTT transition in the country has served to reinforce path-dependencies and historical continuities. This last point has been observed in relation to digital television policies in Western countries, such as Britain and the USA (Galperin, 2004a) and Sweden and Spain (Suarez Cantel, 2011: 318). More research is needed to confirm or not this conclusion in relation to other (post-communist) countries and other sectors.

Sous irradiation, les flux de particules (neutrons, ions, électrons) créent des défauts ponctuels (lacunes et interstitiels) qui génèrent des défauts étendus (boucles de dislocation, cavités) responsables de la fragilisation des matériaux. L'aluminium est un matériau de faible masse et de faible énergie seuil de déplacement (Ed=16-19 eV) ce qui permet de créer les nanodéfauts étendus directement sous irradiation aux électrons dans un microscope électronique à transmission haute résolution (HRMET). Cet instrument permet non seulement de caractériser finement les nanodéfauts mais également d'étudier leur évolution in situ sous irradiation, ceci en fonction de la température, du taux de dommage et d'une pression partielle d'hydrogène. Nous avons constaté un effet important de la pression partielle d'hydrogène sur la cinétique de formation des boucles de dislocation et des cavités. Parallèlement, nous avons mis en place une modélisation multi-échelle des effets de taille finie et de discrétisation du réseau sur la morphologie d'équilibre des cavités à partir de calculs ab initio des énergies de surface et de liaison de petits amas lacunaires et des amas mixtes lacune-hydrogène. La caractérisation expérimentale des morphologies des cavités en fonction de leur taille met en évidence trois formes régulières : une forme de croix bordée par des surfaces {100}, une forme d'octaèdre non tronqué bordée par des surfaces {111} et une forme d'octaèdre tronqué, bordée par les surfaces {111} et {100} ainsi qu'un effet de taille finie entre ces formes prédit par le modèle. De même, la mesure des fluctuations morphologiques d'une cavité au cours de sa croissance ou de sa décroissance en taille révèle le rôle déterminant des nombres magiques fixés par la géométrie et la discrétisation du réseau. A partir du modèle thermodynamique des cavités et d'une caractérisation expérimentale de la densité volumique et de la distribution en taille des nanodéfauts, nous proposons un modèle de germination des cavités sous irradiation. Nous en déduisons une taille du germe critique et un taux de germination des cavités en fonction de la température et du taux de dommage, qui sont comparés aux valeurs expérimentales correspondantes extraites des observations in situ. Enfin, nous discutons de l'effet de l'hydrogène sur la stabilité des amas mixtes lacune-hydrogène et sur la cinétique de germination des cavités
Under irradiation, flows of particles (neutrons, ions, electrons) induce ponctual defects (vacancies and interstitials) which generate extended defects (dislocation loops, cavities) that are responsible for materials weakening. Aluminum is a low mass material with a low displacement energy (Ed=16-19 eV) which allows the creation of extended defects directly under electron irradiation in a high resolution transmission electron microscope (HRTEM). This instrument allows not only a fine characterization of nanodefects but also to study their evolution in situ under irradiation, depending on temperature, damage rate and a partial pressure of hydrogen. We noticed an important effect of the hydrogen partial pressure on the kinetic of formation of the cavities and dislocation loops. Simultaneously, we developped a multiscale modelisation of finite size effets and structure discretisation on equilibrium shapes of cavities based on binding and surface energies determined by ab initio calculation of small vacancy clusters and mixted hydrogen vacancy clusters. Experimental characterization of cavity shapes according to the cavity radius reveals three regular shapes : a cross shape bounded by {100} surfaces, an octahedral non-truncated shape bounded by {111} surfaces and an octahedral truncated shape, bounded by {100} and {111} surfaces as well as the determination of a finite size effect predicted by the model. Also, measurements of cavity shape dispersion during its growth and decrease showed a dominant effet of magic numbers, fixed by geometry and frustration of the structure. Based on a thermodynamic model and a fine experimental characterization of volumic density, we propose a nucleation model of cavities under irradiation. We deduce from this model a critical cluster size and a rate of cavity nucleation depending of temperature and damage, which are compared to the corresponding experimental values extracted from in situ observations. Finally, we discuss the effect of hydrogen on the stability of vacancy-hydrogen clusters and on the kinteic of cavity nucleation

By taking a service theory approach, DTT can be categorized as a service innovation. The rate of adoption is a concept in diffusion of innovations theory, which is used as the study's theoretical framework. For both units of analysis, three surveys were carried out. Based on the data, the rate of adoption for households and for organizations was established. It is clear that organizations adopt an innovation faster than households during the entire adoption process. Based on this research, a predictive model is constructed conceptually.

However, much effort has to be spent to guarantee the usability of that new TV-based interface, which is quite different from that of a PC-based Web application.

Each older person presents with a unique clinical phenotype. This clinical heterogeneity in older adults calls for a high degree of personalized/individualized approach to geriatric medicine and to the care of older adults. Individualized clinical health analysis and management could be performed according to the DTF-model (i.e. Diagnostics-Treatment-Follow-up), which has implications for education/training, medical records, organization, and financing of care for older people. A four-step clinical analysis process based on the DTF-model is presented, aiming to operationalize how a comprehensive geriatric assessment could be visualized, thereby serving as a much longed for ‘geroscope’. A main challenge for the future is to restructure healthcare to suit the most common long-term health problem (i.e. multimorbidity). Future medical developments should be based on geriatric principles and preferably be organized to allow clinical research in clinical routine care to stimulate relevance and development of new methods for clinical treatment trials.

Since the inception of digital terrestrial TV (DTT) in the United Kingdom on September 23, 1998, many countries have developed keen interests in this changing landscape of digital television. Soon after, the U.S. also started DTT on November 1, 1998, and other countries such as Germany, France, Japan, and Korea would join the technological trend. Most countries are scheduling the transition of analog TV into digital TV by around 2010 (Table 1). In the digitalization process, each government has two main concerns; one is about when the conversion from analog to digital TV (DTV) is scheduled, and the other is about how smoothly the schedule is completed. While the U.S. currently set analog switch-off for February 17, 2009, the European Commission has planned that switchover from analog TV should be completed in Member States by 2012. The spectrum plans of Member States in the EU said to be flexible enough to allow the introduction of other electronic communications services, along with DTT (Indepen, Ovum, & Fathom, 2005). According to EU Directive, the UK is planning to finish the switchover in 2012 and Germany in 2010. In Asia, South Korea is expected to be completed in 2010, Japan in 2011, and China in 2015. Unlike government-announced timetables, each country has some difficulties in keeping for the transition process so that the successful conversion within the scheduled timeline may not be possible. Thus, this article first examines which kinds of problems and alternatives are emerging in the policy process for DTV transition in several countries. Secondly, it attempts to find the global implication from what sorts of DTV transition issues are observed in most countries and from how they are broaching the problems of existing regulation systems and the social conflicts among stockholders, especially in Asian countries.
