Introduction. The quality of diagnostics in various branches of medicine including the use of complex and expensive equipment leaves much to be desired. In any case, the doctor evaluates the patient′s examination results and makes a diagnosis, which may be wrong. In manual medicine the main tool is the hands of the doctor and it makes the diagnostic process even more subjective. There are few studies confi rming the reliability of manual diagnostic methods; the reproducibility estimates in the most cases do not satisfy the evidencebased medicinerequirements, and in some cases are simply absent

Linear discrepancy for a poset is the least k such that for any ordering of the points in the poset there is a pair of incomparable points at least distance k away in the ordering. Weak discrepancy is similar to linear discrepancy except that the distance is observed over weak labelings (i.e. two points can have the same label if they are incomparable, but order is still preserved). Abstract The efficiency and suitability of on-line vibration measurements as a diagnostic signal for condition monitoring and diagnostics of gear systems, are investigated. To this end, representation of a gear system as a single-degree-of-freedom dynamic system is considered. Mathematical models of faults or malfunctions of the gear system for use in the above dynamic system as its system and excitation parameters are synthesized. Further, the sensitivities of vibration signal parameters including time-domain, frequency domain and statistical parameters, to various different faults or malfunc

Abstract This paper summarizes results from a collaborative industry study involving seven operators and ten pad-scale datasets across four different shale plays (Delaware, Midland, Bakken, and Montney). This paper specifically focuses on a subset of the datasets from the Midland and Delaware Basins. The project had three main objectives: (a) compare/contrast observations between datasets and basins, (b) develop general insights into parent/child interactions and techniques for mitigating impact, and (c) provide customized economic optimization recommendations for each individual operator and

Efficient health diagnostics provides benefits such as improved safety, improved reliability, and reduced costs for the operation and maintenance of engineered systems. This paper presents a multi-attribute classification fusion approach which leverages the strengths provided by multiple membership classifiers to form a robust classification model for structural health diagnostics. Health diagnosis using the developed approach consists of three primary steps: (i) fusion formulation using a k-fold cross validation model; (ii) diagnostics with multiple multi-attribute classifiers as member algor

Full text
Abstract:
Coriolis flow meter diagnostics have made numerous advances in the past five years. Manufactures claim that they can detect corrosion build-up and coriolis tube erosion with their diagnostic software. This manufacturer-blinded study provides diagnostic results from a coriolis meter flow tested in water and in air at three different test pressures. Using wax, the meter was fouled to three different thicknesses, and eroded using sand-laden air. Wax-fouled and eroded flow performance and diagnostic results are compared to baseline data to substantiate and refute manufacturers claims.

This is an update and revision of our 2009 study. Using a broad dataset and an original methodology, this paper reports composite development gaps across economic, social and institutional sectors. We define development gap as the distance between the observed and the expected development level of a country. The gaps are indicators of areas where development needs are bigger. Although we estimate the development gaps for all countries with available data, we focus the analysis of our results in five Southern Cone countries: Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Paraguay and Uruguay.

Abstract:
In this project, all relevant publications available since the completion of the previous PRCI recalibration research efforts (5 years) that address the stability of ultrasonic meters and the results of recalibration were reviewed. The review concentrates on the use of ultrasonic meter diagnostics as a guideline for the need for recalibration rather than time in service. This study includes subsequent recalibration data and a questionnaire to indicate if users of ultrasonic meters have utilized ultrasonic meter diagnostics to determine the need for recalibration.
