Abstract:
The subject of this dissertation thesis is a confrontation of contemporary economic thought with critical theory. Based on the holistic critique of the production process, the author deals with elementary principles of wealth creation and allocation, mirroring themselves in the issue of economic inequality. An applied transdisciplinary approach leads to dialectical understanding of market mechanism which accentuates an antagonistic character of its actors´ aims and reveals its non-empirical causalities. These abstract connections then become a viable explanatory complement to already advanced empirical apparatus of economic inequality. The goal of the thesis is to formulate an economic model that takes into consideration both empirical findings of contemporary studies on economic inequality and reflection of the critical theory. The value added lies in the fact that the economic model presents an interaction of economic agents and through probabilistic drive towards deepening economic inequalities exposes market mechanism as the diverging factor of social reproduction. Further, the model shows that Pareto-optimization, a frequently used analytically-normative tool of contemporary economics, principally does not suffice in grasping market-based inequalities. The contribution of the thesis is researching particular economic phenomena from the unique perspective which has not been yet fully accomplished in the context of modern economics.

Abstract:
Contemporary readings of Hegelian philosophy tend to overemphasize the Phenomenology ofSpirit and especially as it pertains to the master and slave dialectic. These analyzes are certainlyvalid, but the danger of confining oneself to this work alone is that its deep connections tothe Science of Logic might be neglected (I’ve had the opportunity to use Sven-Olov Wallenstein'sSwedish translation of the Science of Logic, which at the time of writing has not yet beenpublished). Despite this development, there are still researchers who have highlighted theimportance of making these connections visible by understanding how these worksorganically interlink with each other via negation. This study aims to investigate a deepernegativity that connects these works based on a close reading of the dialectic of sensecertainty in the Phenomenology of Spirit and the dialectic of being and nothing in the Science ofLogic - with the help of commentary research texts. The analysis shows that there is a deepconnection between the Phenomenology of Spirit and the Science of Logic which manifest in theirrespective first chapters. Further research is needed to establish these connections, as well asto explain their nuances - especially as pertaining to the relationship between language andHegel's metaphysics - which could not be included here due to the limited scope of the essay.
Den samtida hegelläsningen tenderar att lägga mycket fokus på Andens fenomenologi och särskiltdröja vid herre och slav-dialektikens moment. Dessa analyser äger sin bestående giltighetmen faran i att enbart begränsa sig till detta verk är att det medför att dess intima förbindelsermed Logikens vetenskap försummas (Sven-Olov Wallensteins svenska översättning av Logiken- som i skrivande stund ej ännu publicerats- används). Oaktat denna utveckling så finns detfortfarande forskare som har lyft fram vikten i att synliggöra dessa förbindelser genom attbegripa hur dessa verk organiskt integreras i varandra och hur negationen spelar in irespektive böckers organiska utvecklingsprocesser. Denna studie ämnar framförallt att visaen djupare negativitet som binder ihop dessa verk genom en närläsning av den sinnligavisshetens dialektik samt av varats och intets dialektik, med stöd i kommenterandeforskningstexter. I texten argumenterar jag för att den sinnliga visshetens dialektik samtvarats och intets dialektik samverkar i en och samma rörelse fast med olika bestämningar.Vidare forskning behövs för att etablera dessa förbindelser och explicera nyanser - särskiltgällande språkets förhållande till Hegels metafysik.

Der Aufsatz rekonstruiert die Dialektik von Individualisierung und moderner Sozialpolitik und führt zu diesem Zweck die Diskussionsstränge um die Entstehungsbedingungen von staatlicher Sozialpolitik und um die Weiterentwicklung von Sozialpolitik zusammen. Die Analyse befaßt sich zunächst mit Individualisierung als Voraussetzung für die Entstehung moderner Sozialpolitik, um dann, ebenfalls noch in historischer Perspektive, die Bedeutung von Sozialpolitik für die Vollendung der modernen Individuen als Staatsbürger zu betrachten. Anschließend wird die sozialpolitische Strukturierung von Lebensläufen in der Gegenwart diskutiert und dargelegt, daß Sozialpolitik nicht nur reguliert, sondern auch Handlungsspielräume eröffnet und deren individuelle Nutzung möglich macht. Zuletzt wird nach aktuellen staatlichen Reaktionen auf individuelles Handeln gefragt. Die Beobachtung der historischen Kontinuität, mit der Individuum und Sozialpolitik von den Anfängen der gesellschaftlichen Moderne bis in die Gegenwart aufeinander einwirken und in ihrer Entwicklung miteinander verwoben sind, soll dazu anregen, die Analyse moderner Sozialpolitik in eine umfassende gesellschaftstheoretische Perspektive zu stellen.

Abstract:
Hegel’s master-slave dialectic has often been used as a model or starting point for later theories about emancipation and subversive changes in society. But one often overlooks the fact that the chapter in The Phenomenology of Spirit ends in disaster, as Judith Butler remarks. Instead of realising freedom, the consciousness gets entangled in self debasing activities in its attempts to master the unrelenting principles of the abstract freedom. We get “the unhappy consciousness”. This development is further examined in this essay in dialog with Butler and Slavoj Žižek, amongst others. Focus is placed on the concept of stubborn attachment (Eigensinnigkeit) and the paradoxical role this plays in the development towards freedom. What are the possibilities for transcending a detrimental relationship like the one between slave and master according to the Hegelian dialectic? A conclusion drawn here is that the two chapters about the master and the slave and “the unhappy consciousness” together exemplify Hegel’s assertion of the necessity of having both the abstract, universal freedom – which often take extreme expressions in its one-sidedness – and its concrete correspondence. This aspect is easily overlooked with Butler’s Foucault-inspired view on resistance – a suggestion that also will be further developed in the following.

This essay will attempt to examine Rav Kook's corpus of thought from the viewpoint of its systems of methodological foundations: dialectic and harmonistic. These two elements are the dominant components of his thought, both from the methodological and ontological aspects. As to the harmonistic element, it should be noted that Rav Kook's entire corpus of thought is stamped with the idea of monistic unity, and he believes in the unity of existence from the point of view of ontological monism. The monism is inherent even in the center of the theoretical method, or in the words of Rav Kook: "The various thoughts actually don't contradict each other, everything is but a unitary revelation which appears in different sparks".

This study within organization theory takes a process perspective and focuses on how the dialectic interaction between the structuring and improvisational parts of organizing is handled in construction sites. In studies of organizing where reality is seen as socially constructed with focus on the subjective source of organizations reality, the individuals understanding of the identity and the rolecan be seen as central to interpret the social processes. Depending on how the actors understand their role in the context, the acting/interacting is going to beinfluenced. In times when the different orders of organizing have contrastingcontents the understanding of the role and the context is going to challenge. The actors then have to consider and reconsider the understanding of the role.To make the identification perspective possible to study a theoretical framework is constructed where community, meetings, insecurity and sense making arehighlighted as important aspects in the identification process. The empirical partis based on narratives from ten construction clients. The narratives were initiatedby descriptions of four situations, describing four occurrences, which provide four different attitudes to how the dialectic interaction between different ordersof organizing can be handled. The analysis of the narratives is based on how theactors in there argumentation express doubt and faith. Expression of doubt andfaith is used as tools to make the identification process concrete to be possible tostudy in a fruitful way.The study points out how doubt and faith are used to create pictures of the actors understanding of the role and its context. The analysis gives three identificationpatterns. The characteristics and content of the patterns are different whichinclude a difference between the understandings of the tension in the dialecticinteraction of different organizing orders. We can therefore say that the threepatterns give different starting points for action and interaction. Finally the implications of the results from the study are discussed in relation to management accounting and organizational change.

Abstract:
This is a conceptual historical study on the dialectic meaning of the concept of freedom. The purpose of this study is to examine John Stuart Mill’s and Jean-Paul Sartre’s usage of the concept of freedom, and to examine its dialectical meaning. This is done by examining concepts such as the nature of man, moral philosophy, political thinking and the meaning and usage of the concept of freedom itself. Using the method of conceptual history and the theoretical framework of Hegelian dialectics, I have studied Mill’sOn Liberty and Sartre’s Existentialism is a Humanism. In my research, I have found that the two thinkers share some similarities in what they mean by freedom, but I have also found that there are striking differences. These differences are most notable in how Mill discusses freedom primarily in political and societal terms, whereas Sartre discusses freedom as being the natural human condition and in what ways it is linked to action and morals. I also note how Mill’s thinking is centered around man as an individual, whereas Sartre’s thinking is centered around man as a subject. Finally, I discuss the importance of liberal hegemony in the expected meaning of the term freedom.
Detta är en studie av dialektiken inom frihetsbegreppet. Syftet med denna undersökning är att med begreppshistorisk ansats undersöka John Stuart Mills och Jean-Paul Sartres användande av begreppet frihet, och att undersöka hur begreppets dialektiska innebörd yttrar sig genom en komparativ de bägge tänkarna. Detta görs genom att undersöka respektive tänkares syn på människans natur såväl som deras moralfilosofi, politiska tänkande samt deras användning av frihetsbegreppet som sådant. Med en begreppshistoriskt präglad metod och ett hegelianskt dialektiskt teoretiskt ramverk har jag studerat Mills Om friheten och Sartres Existentialismen är en humanism. I min undersökning har jag funnit att de två tänkarna har vissa likheter i vad de menar med frihet, men jag har även funnit slående skillnader. Dessa skillnader framträder som tydligast i hur Mill diskuterar frihet främst i politiska och samhällsenliga termer, medan Sartre betraktar frihet som människans naturtillstånd och diskuterar frihet som kopplat till handling och moral. Jag noterar även att Mills tänkande kretsar kring människan som individ, medan Sartres tänkande kretsar kring människan som subjekt. Slutligen diskuterar jag betydelsen av liberal hegemoni i utformandet av frihetsbegreppets erfarenhetsrum.

Abstract:
This paper is an attempt to construct the conceptual context of one of Walter Benjamin’s central notions - the ”dialectical image”. Its aim is to actualize it for a philosophy dedicated to a concept of knowledge that corresponds and gives justice to the concrete and unique in experience (Erfahrung). Having as a point of departure Benjamin’s reading of Surrealism, mainly Louis Aragon and André Breton, this paper argues that Benjamin’s definition of the surrealist ”image” is to be conceived as a reference for his own concept of the dialectical image. In order to explicate this concept one has to conceive of what Benjamin finds as a direction in the surrealists’ image towards the sphere of praxis. Reading Benjamin’s sublation (Aufhebung) of the surrealist experience, praxis becomes a crucial methodological notion through which the question of the material and technological conditions of man correspond directly to the time-space complex of the knowledge of contemporary (synchronistisch) now-time (Jetztzeit) as actuality. Praxis is for Benjamin the true object of experience but also its just method in terms of construction. The ”construction” as a dialectical sublation of surrealist experience engenders a thematization of the historical dialectics not just in terms of then/now, but also of dream/awakening. In order to explain the philosophical significance for Benjamin of the notion of the dialectical image this paper will examine the correspondence between Benjamin and the thinking of early Marx. In this correspondence the construction of praxis becomes crucial in establishing the transcendental relation between man and his true property as a unique but universal being. The marxian term of appropriation (aneignen) becomes the very praxis in which man finds himself in an image-space (Bildraum), a space which, according to Benjamin, the Surrealists were the first to illuminate (erleuchten). For Benjamin this image-space is a space in time conceived both as a collective body and as a unique being that through and by revolutionary actions can be entered and inhabited and whose form is inseparable from its content. Their convergence is crucial for the definition of Benjamin’s ”image”. In that sense the notion of uniqueness becomes the criterion for how a proper historical articulation is to be understood, that is not as a realization of how the past really was, but as an appropriation in remembrance (mémoire involontaire) of a forgotten image, hidden in the world of things (Dingwelt). The dialectical image then becomes a question of historical reading, not of the past, but of the now in and of the past.

Syftet med denna uppsats är att undersöka hur den enskilde pedagogen kan arbeta för att låta skolelevers egna funderingar och ställningstaganden utgöra en integrerad del av deras undervisning i ämnet religionskunskap. Uppsatsens frågeställning är: Hur kan undervisningen i religionskunskap utformas så att elevernas röster synliggörs och tillåts influera undervisningen på djupet? Ytterligare ett av uppsatsens syften, som dock är underordnat det ovan nämnda, är att redovisa den livsfrågeundersökning som varit en del av undervisningsprocessen. Materialet som ligger till grund för denna undersökning är dels mina egna iakttagelser kring undervisningsprocessen som ägde rum inom ramen för undervisningen kring judisk tro och tradition, dels elevernas skriftliga svar på de livsfrågor jag ställt dem inför. Dessutom ingår en av eleverna utförd utvärdering av arbetssättet. Materialet bearbetas med hjälp av teoretiska perspektiv i rådande kurs- och läroplaner samt min förståelse av Hegels dialektiklära, dessutom förhåller jag mig till tidigare utförd forskning inom området. En central tanke i uppsatsen är att elevernas röster med stor behållning kan användas som en utgångspunkt för undervisningen och göras till studieobjekt. Med hjälp av Hegels grundläggande tanke att kunskapsutvecklingen är lika mycket en process som ett slutresultat, utformade jag en undervisningsprocess som väl uppfyller de krav som kursplanen ställer på bearbetningen av elevernas livsfrågor och läroplanen på elevernas delaktighet i undervisningen.

Dieser Artikel beschäftigt sich mit einer vergessenen Kategorie der Weltstadtforschung: Raum-Macht. Verschiedene Raumkonzepte werden, ausgehend von Altvaters Funktionsräumen, die Räumen Funktionen zuordnen, vorgestellt. Hierbei erweist sich ein dialektisches Konzept als besonders geeignet. Die vielfach in den Mittelpunkt der Analyse gestellte Dialektik von global und lokal - Glokalisierung - als die Dialektik eines Verflechtungsraums darf aber nicht als einziges Wechselspiel gesehen werden, um räumliche und soziale Entwicklungen zu verstehen. In einem zweiten Teil werden diese theoretischen Einsichten vertieft, indem empirische Daten bezogen auf die Weltstadt São Paulo herangezogen werden. Die Vernachlässigung der Kommunalpolitik, vor allem der Budget- und Parteipolitik, erweist sich als eine bedeutsame Beschränkung konventioneller Weltstadtanalysen, die sich auf das Verflechtungsraumkonzept konzentrieren. Weiters wird die Bedeutung von Finanzdienstleistungen als Wachstumsbranche in frage gestellt. Abstract:
The topic of this study is one specific area where the tension between instrumental rationality and value rationality becomes prominent: the question whether we have a rational responsibility for nature or not. Such a responsibility cannot be derived from instrumental reason, but it is argued that it can be derived from discourse ethics and communicative rationality. The study begins with an examination of Georg-Henrik von Wright's cultural criticism. It is argued that his subjectivist view of values limits reason to the realm of instrumental rationality. Horkheimer and Adorno's theory of instrumental reason is examined. They claim that instrumental reason, through the negative dialectics of the enlightenment, have created a vacuum with regard to values. Marcuse's anthropological solution to the problem of values, and his theory of an emancipatory science and technology, are examined and rejected as Utopian. The philosophy of Jürgen Habermas is examined, and it is shown how he solves the problem of his predecessors through the dual framework of work and interaction. His hypothesis of three knowledge- constitutive interests is analyzed, and it is concluded that a general theory of communication is needed in order to solve the problem of value rationality. It is shown how Habermas later theory of communicative rationality and discourse ethics overcomes the shortcomings of his earlier theory. It is argued, among other things, that his theory of communicative rationality is compatible with a correspondence theory of truth, ontological realism and epistemological fallibilism. Discourse ethics makes a rational discussion of values and norms possible. It is argued that it solves the problem of value rationality, but without providing a definition of the good or the right. It is shown that revisabilty is an important part of discourse ethics. This is manifested in the hypothetical status of discourse ethics, and in the revisability of the norms proposed. It is argued that we are in fact able to rationally propose a norm, which demands responsibility for nature within the framework of communicative rationality and discourse ethics, although such a norm must be the result of the outcome of a rational discourse and is itself, revisable.
