Abstract:
The increase in population, urban development and road construction are the demands of many communities in obtaining public street lighting for road users by providing better services. Public street lighting has become a necessity for many people, which is very important for two-wheeled, four-wheeled, and many-wheeled drivers for safety and comfort in traffic, especially at night. Therefore, the authors conducted a new research design by arranging public street lighting in the area of the Depok Cilodong highway, with the aim of providing the beauty of the road environment by the model of the arrangement and installation of poles, pole height and PJU lamp models to the road body. Its uniqueness is seen from the perspective of the side of social and environmental impacts that are generally not seen by the local government and the level of evenness of road lighting on road materials is still lacking, so that the impact on the road user community is better and more modern. The method used with the Dialux EVO 8.2 Program for short road lengths can choose street lights taken from the IES Lighting data on the 10W Eco Led, 10 VAC Milky Way, which is installed with a height of 8 meters with a distance between poles 15 meters with a large amount of procurement allows for high costs. For the long distance of the road, you can use the 20W Led Bimasakti Eco street light, 10 VAC, which is installed with a height of 8 meters and 20 meters between the poles. So by analyzing the selection criteria, it is capable of producing street lighting with lighting levels in accordance with SNI 7391-2008 and considering the quantity of material procurement as well as the tipping point which has an impact on financing for installation services.

Abstract:
Rate of electricity consumption is increasing due to the increasing demand every year, while the supply of natural resources is significantly reduced. This is a factor why electricity tariffs are increased and it would affect the improvement of living standards. The lighting system is one of the important elements of the building design. Effective and efficient strategy of lighting, includes natural daylighting, appropriate level of illumination, and low energy consumption. A significant cost saving can be achieved if the designers know how to design a lighting system effectively and efficiently. Therefore, the appropriate design of lighting system which meet the standard was proposed in this project. The objective of this research is to perform energy analysis of lighting system design for lecture room. The lecture room at UTM SPACE building in Kuala Lumpur was taken as a case study. Type of lighting used, existing room design, and lighting technology in the market are identified prior to the beginning of the present study. After that, the system design is implemented using the manual calculation based on lumen method and the simulation is done using DIAlux Evo 3 and AutoCAD. Two type of lighting products are compared in terms of energy consumption and cost: the compact fluorescent lamp (CFL) and the light emitting diode (LED). Then, comparison of results was performed to obtain the best lighting system. The results revealed that LED provides energy cost savings of 30% to 50% annually compared to CFL. The prediction from DIAlux Evo 3 simulation is more accurate compared to the manual calculation.

Abstract:
Globally, artificial lighting accounts for a considerable part of electrical energy consumption in buildings. Hence, there is a need to design appropriate lighting scenarios for buildings in a way to reduce energy while meeting visual comfort requirements. This research aims to investigate the effects of applying different design strategies on lighting energy use and visual comfort level. Surface finishing reflectance, type, number and mounting height of luminaires are variables in the study. Lighting design software DIALux evo 7.0 provides simulations of a real scale room according to different scenarios whose models were calibrated and validated using experimental field data. The findings indicate that the type of luminaire is the most decisive parameter in quantity and quality of light in an indoor environment. However, increasing the indoor surface reflectance plays a key role in improving energy efficiency and visual comfort. The results show the possibility of electrical energy savings up to 45% by increasing surface reflectance properties. Finally, this paper stresses that there is no single design solution to guarantee both low energy demand and high visual quality, therefore integrating different strategies based on the type of task and the occupant’s activities is highly recommended.

Ensuring optimum interior lighting is a topic of great importance, as this influences not only the well-being of users but also the optimal performance of visual tasks. Lighting can be natural, but if not sufficient, it can be compensated with artificial lighting. This study highlights a methodology for designing a new lighting system that takes into account both technical and economic aspects. The method was applied to an existing school located in southern Italy, in which the electricity consumption is related to the current lighting system. The school is chosen as being representative of the construction type and layout of many local schools. In addition, the coexistence of several visual tasks with different design requisites (e.g., illuminance levels) makes the school a very complex environment. The school lighting is modelled in Google SketchUp and imported into Daysim to simulate the yearly and hourly daylight indoor contribution. Dialux Evo has been used to simulate and design artificial lighting. The results show a reduction of energy consumption of 33% with the simple replacement of fluorescent luminaires with LEDs, while the LED lamp dimming and modulation for rows of luminaires leads to a 95% reduction in energy consumption compared with the current state.

Abstract:
The main quality condition in street lighting is luminance distribution. During the carrying out of the literature, average luminance is the most important parameter to check. The standard BS EN 13201-3 imposes that average luminance must be calculated for the observer placed in the center of each circulating lane. As a consequence, according to these standards, the measurements can be done only on streets without traffic. Stopping the traffic on all lanes is very difficult. This paper proposes a solution for measuring the average luminance from outside the carriageway. The research was performed by simulations/calculations and was validated by field measurements. Imaging sensors were used to measure average luminance, while DIALux EVO 9.1 was used for the simulations. For symmetrical, opposite, and staggered lighting arrangements, average luminance measurements were performed with a digital camera positioned outside of the traffic area, with the equipment placed at the edge of the carriageway, giving similar results with standard measurements, with almost no difference. For single sided lighting arrangements, the differences became unacceptable. In this case, the paper proposes a correction function to calculate the average luminance for the observer placed on the carriageway, based on measurements with a digital camera placed outside the traffic area.

Abstract:
Classroom light intensity is one of the essential factors in the learning process. Several factors affect light intensity in the classroom, i.e., determination of classroom design, position of objects in the classroom, window design, shading devices, type of lamp, and type of lamp armature. The research aims to determine the effect of armature lamp type. The results of this research are expected to increase the efficiency of electricity costs and use the classroom optimal lighting system according to Indonesian National Standard (SNI). Two types of lamp armature used in this research i.e. LED tube armature and LED bulb armature. This research used E11-210 classroom in E11 Building of Electrical Engineering Department, Universitas Negeri Semarang with the size of 12m x 9m x 3.5m. Simulation in this research used Dialux Evo 9 software. The results of observations and simulations show that E11-210 classroom had not followed SNI yet, in 350 lux. Based on simulation results, it shows that using LED tube armature and LED bulb armature will get light intensity of E11-210 classroom that follow SNI 6197:2011. Simulation results show that the use of LED tube armature (Powerbalance Gen2 RC463B) in E11-210 classroom will increase efficiency of electricity costs by 27.81%. Meanwhile, the use of LED bulb armature (Luxspace Ace Acccent RS750B) in E11-210 classroom will increase efficiency of electricity costs by 33.96%.

Abstract:
The concept of a zero energy building is a significant sustainable strategy to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. The challenges of zero energy building (ZEB) achievement in Thailand are that the design approach to reach ZEB in office buildings is unclear and inconsistent. In addition, its implementation requires a relatively high investment cost. This study proposes a guideline for cost-optimal design to achieve the ZEB for three representative six-story office buildings in hot and humid Thailand. The energy simulations of envelope designs incorporating high-efficiency systems are carried out using eQuest and daylighting simulation using DIALux evo. The final energy consumptions meet the national ZEB target but are higher than the rooftop PV generation. To reduce such an energy gap, the ratios of building height to width are proposed. The cost-benefit of investment in ZEB projects provides IRRs ranging from 10.73 to 13.85%, with payback periods of 7.2 to 8.5 years. The energy savings from the proposed designs account for 79.2 to 81.6% of the on-site energy use. The investment of high-performance glazed-windows in the small office buildings is unprofitable (NPVs = −14.77–−46.01). These research results could help architects and engineers identify the influential parameters and significant considerations for the ZEB design. Strategies and technical support to improve energy performance in large and mid-rise buildings towards ZEB goals associated with the high investment cost need future investigations.

Abstract:
Viruses are minuscule parasites that have gained notoriety for causing diseases. However, these harmful pathogens can be inactivated using Ultraviolet-C (UVC) radiation that has a wavelength between 200 – 280 nm. The wavelengths of the UVC are responsible for germicidal effect as the proteins (e.g. RNA and DNA) absorb the maximum radiation in these wavelengths and damage the DNA of the viruses so that they cannot replicate. This project aimed to simulate the UVC light intensity in different room layouts to guide the evaluation of the effectiveness of surface disinfection system which consists of UVC lights. Besides determining the quantity and the installation layout of the UVC lights, the project also aimed to help visualisation of the coverage of UVC radiation and highlight any under-exposed area for optimum room disinfection using a simulation software. DIALux Evo 9.1 was used to simulate the light intensity in different room and lighting layouts. As the software only calculates normal visible light (wavelength 380 – 700 nm) intensity in the unit of Lux, a correlation between Lux and UVC dosage (mJ/cm2) must be established first. A minimum UVC dosage of 40 mJ/cm2 is required to achieve complete surface disinfection of microorganisms. The simulation was able to visualize the coverage of UVC radiation and to determine the optimum placement of UVC lights to ensure sufficient UVC dosage is delivered to every critical surface. The outcome of this project can help to guide the design of UVC room disinfection system especially in hospital wards setting to optimise room disinfection and reducing the risk of infection.

Abstract:
This article will analyze and examine the verb “to hurt” found in Dengka Dialect of Rote Language. Based on the data collected from the informants, there are nineteen lexicons discovered and each of them will be further described in the discussion part of this article. The nineteen lexicons are: uta, tati, mbau, donggi, dui, undu, teta, ela, kalu, ali, isi, iɁi, tede, soso, nato, edo, ule, tutu and dodo. The approach applied to analyze those nineteen lexicons is natural semantics meta-language (NSM). By using this approach, we would optimise the analysis in order to obtain a better result, since there is only one meaning for each lexicon. The results of this analysis could become a reference for the readers and the researchers in writing articles using their language that related to semantics by using natural semantics meta-language theory.

Abstract:
Purpose To evaluate the safety and efficacy of sealed implantation, a simple technique for implanting foldable intraocular lenses (IOLs). Methods This was a retrospective study including consecutive patients who underwent phacoemulsification cataract using the sealed implantation technique. Sealed implantation is a technique in which a single-piece, foldable IOL is implanted without an intraocular ophthalmic viscosurgical device (OVD) or continuous infusion (hydroimplantation) of balanced saline solution (BSS). Forty consecutive patients who underwent clear corneal incision cataract surgery with IOL implantation using this technique were included. A 3-step 2.75-mm incision was performed approximately 0.5 mm anterior to the limbus with a 1.50 to 1.75 mm length as well as a 0.9 mm side port incision. Prior to the insertion of the IOL, the capsular bag and anterior chamber are filled with BSS. Hydroxypropyl methylcellulose 2% is applied external to the main corneal incision. The foldable IOL injector tip is introduced into the main incision in one quick jabbing motion and the IOL injected. The IOL is dialed with a standard irrigating Simcoe cannula. The main outcomes were intraoperative complications and postoperative hypotony. Results Of 50 charts reviewed, sealed implantation was attempted in 40 (80%), with success in all cases. The injection of the IOL was performed without anterior chamber loss in 92% of the cases (n = 36) and no complications were recorded. There were no events of postoperative hypotony or wound leakage. Conclusions Sealed implantation is a safe and efficient alternative to hydroimplantation without the need for OVDs in suitable cases.

Abstract:
Purpose. To assess safety and efficacy of temporal manual small incision cataract surgery (SICS) in context to visual outcome, astigmatism, and complications. Methods. This involved sclerocorneal tunnel, capsulotomy and hydrodissection. The incision was made with number 11 disposable surgical blade (costing Indian Rs. 2.50, $0.05). Nucleus extraction was done by phaco-sandwich method with the help of vectis and dialer. Posterior chamber intraocular lens implantation was done according to biometric findings. A record of intraoperative and postoperative complications was made. The final postoperative assessment of astigmatism was done with spectacle correction on the 45th day as per the refraction findings. Results. Two thousand eyes were operated by temporal, manual small incision sutureless technique. Uncorrected visual acuity was ≥6/18 in 1636 (81.7%) patients on the first postoperative day, in 1652 (82.6%) patients at 2 weeks, and in 1732 (88.6%) patients at 6 weeks. Best-corrected visual acuity (BCVA) ≥6/18 was achieved in 1868 (93.4%) patients at 6 weeks, with 46 (2.3%) having BCVA <6/60, 24 (1.2%) of whom had preexisting retinal pathology. At 6 weeks, 1876 (93.8%) eyes had with-the-rule and 134 (6.2%) against-the-rule astigmatism (mean 0.7±1.25 D). Iris prolapse was noted in 3 (0.15%), wound leak in 3 (0.15%), and transient corneal edema in 136 (6.8%) eyes. Average surgery time was 6 minutes. Conclusions. Temporal SICS with number 11 disposable surgical blade and nucleus delivery by phaco-sandwich method gave excellent outcome with minimal astigmatism and low complication rate at economic cost.

Abstract:

Abstract:
Polylactic acid (PLA) has attracted tremendous interest to be utilized as the replacement for petroleum-based polymers as it possesses good biodegradability, can be derived from renewable sources, and shows high mechanical strength. However, its inherent brittleness and low toughness has limited its usage in broader applications. In this work, PLA was melt blended with tough thermoplastic polyurethanes (TPU) in order to produce eco-friendly polymeric materials with balanced mechanical properties. Moreover, the miscibility and the hydrolytic degradation behaviour of PLA/TPU blends were also investigated as it is important to control material degradation behaviour in some applications. Five compositions of specimens, i.e. neat PLA, PLA/TPU 75/25 vol%, PLA/TPU 50/50 vol%, PLA/TPU 25/75 vol%, and neat TPU, were prepared by melt blending PLA with TPU using an internal mixer, followed by compression moulding. Tensile and impact tests were performed to evaluate the mechanical properties. From the tests, it was apparent that the elongation-at-break and impact strength of the blends increased as the TPU content increased. Dynamic Mechanical Analysis (DMA) and Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) observation were conducted to evaluate the miscibility of PLA/TPU blends. DMA results of the blends revealed two tangent delta peaks, indicating that the blends were immiscible, and the SEM micrographs supported this trend. Finally, hydrolytic degradation behaviour of PLA, TPU and PLA/TPU blends was investigated by measuring the weight loss after immersion of the specimens in alkaline solution at a predetermined time, i.e. every 24 hours for up to 8 days. It was found that the degradation behaviour is affected by blend composition, where PLA/TPU 50/50 vol% showed the fastest degradation rate. This result might be ascribed to the co-continuous morphology shown in the PLA/TPU blend 50/50 vol%.

Abstract:
Room lighting is an important factor in the work environment to improve performance and is also a factor in occupational health and safety. Lighting that is not up to standard can cause eye fatigue, resulting in decreased worker performance. In educational institutions, the classroom is the room that is used most often compared to other rooms, so that the classroom needs adequate lighting to support the occurrence of teaching and learning activities in the room. In two classrooms at University of Singapperbangsa Karawang, indoor lighting analysis was carried out to determine the level of lighting. The purpose of this study is to determine whether the lighting level in the classroom is in accordance with the SNI 03-6575-2001 standard, which is 250 Lux. Based on the calculation of the number of lights, in class 1 it takes 8 lights and in class 2 it takes 14 lights. Calculations using Dialux Evo 9.1 in class 1 the lighting level during the day are 280 lux and at night is 187 Lux, while in class 2 the lighting level is 189 Lux during the day and 199 Lux at night. This shows that it is necessary to repair the lighting installation.
