Full textConscient de la no-neutralitat dels mitjans de comunicació i del repte que representen els mecanismes per identificar objectivament el biaix ideològic, aquesta tesi proporciona una proposta metodològica per valorar la ideologia política dels diaris. L’originalitat del model rau en fusionar la contribució de les ciències polítiques i de la comunicació, ja que es construeix tenint en compte els valors fonamentals de les ideologies polítiques. El model s’inspira qualitativament en la perspectiva de l’anàlisi crític del discurs i quantitativament en l’anàlisi de contingut tradicional. Permet comparar mostres segons un marc ideològic i classificar-les en quatre categories: elitisme, igualitarisme, comunitarisme i individualisme. El model es va aplicar per estudiar el termini d’un any (2018) de contingut editorial (n=2,195) dels vuit diaris digitals més llegits del Brasil. Els resultats mostren la viabilitat del model i dibuixen un escenari dominat per un fort discurs elitista amb un únic diari brasiler que s’enfoca cap a una visió del món igualitària.

Full textThis paper will carry out an in-depth analysis of the perceptions of young people and adults in the consumption of the newspaper La República. Based on the history of the medium, the evolution of its platforms from the written version to the digital version was identified. To define perceptions, this study was based on conducting surveys, interviews, and two focus group sessions. Through an interview guide, the collection of information and the comparison of the data obtained were structured. The main results demonstrate a generational change in the consumption preference of youth and adults. Thus, like the changes and similarities that their platforms show in the production of the news, the practices of traditional journalism evolve to the web. To reach this conclusion, a concept analysis was carried out in relation to the convergence of the medium and a comparison between the comments of the participants and what was found in the present investigation.

Full textThis study presents a system for the analysis and evaluation of digital press archives, analyses the digital press archives of a sample of Spanish newspapers and presents a proposal to classify and analyze the main sources that provide access to online press. The system is a kind of heuristic evaluation procedure based on 27 indicators articulated in four main sections: general features, contents, the query system, and presentation of results. For each indicator is explained: definition, explanation and use of punctuation. With this method, it analyses the digital press archives of the Spanish newspapers with the largest digital circulations between 2007 and 2010. The study points out the best and worst aspects of the digital press archives, establishing a ranking of newspapers in which El Mundo, Abc, El País and La Vanguardia occupy the top positions, and finally shows five major trends: extension of the temporary fund online, free archives versus payment archives, simplification (and depletion) of the query, filters in the presentation of results and documentary products in the archive section.

Full textIn the last three decades the so-called .COM culture has caused a revolution as big as the printing press in its time, a revolution that enhanced communications and therefore the way we trade and consume. With a continuous and organic worldwide growth, it has managed to migrate the consumers' habits, forcing traditional media to reinvent themselves or disappear. Our country is no stranger to this change, registering a significant increase in the last 15 years and although the web is still considered as the support of the original business, the exposure of national products worldwide, and transversal businesses have grown exponentially, often obtaining margins in markets where penetration was not expected. In 2010 the number of Peruvians with access to digital information was 34.8%, by 2017 this number was already 48.8% with an average growth of 2% per year; this places the traditional media at a crossroads; but also gives us a great opportunity. Under this opportunity we present our project: a digital platform for sports communication, which thanks to information technologies (Big Data) would direct its contents to the markets that best pay for advertising spaces. The contents will be adjusted in real time according to the information we obtain via SEM and will be worked on in real time by writers specialized in generating controversial and entertaining sports content. This would allow us to capture visits that are loyal and return, and would also be profitable through the sale of spaces via programmatic advertising, thanks to which we will sell our spaces to the best bidders in real time.

Full textIn this research work, an analysis was made of the tabloid press that became very popular and controversial in the 1990s in Lima, and it is also being analyzed whether this type of press is still present and uses characteristics in digital newspaper publications. of Peruvian newspapers. With the advance of the investigation we have discovered that characteristics of the sensationalist press are still used in the publications of digital newspapers, especially the newspaper analyzed in the investigation that is the "Trome". We can see how the titles are loaded with qualifiers that appeal to the feelings of the readers causing rejection or support, depending on the type of news. Likewise, use is made of the color and size of the letter, appearing in bold and in a much larger size than the content. Images loaded with sensationalism are also used. For this study, data collection techniques such as interviews and analysis of observation guides were used to study the publications made by the newspaper. A data crossing was also made to corroborate the studies of specialists such as foreigners and Peruvians. At the end, a data crossing was performed to obtain the final conclusions.

Full textLa industria de la prensa escrita ya no es la de antes. Con el arribo de las nuevas tecnologías e Internet se han visto transformadas sus propias dinámicas y su audiencia tradicional se ha visto diversificada. Sin embargo, a quince años de que la industria de los diarios en Chile incorporara la versión online como un nuevo soporte, los balances y proyecciones en la materia son difusos a nivel nacional e internacional. Por una parte, se apunta a que la empresa del diario tendría sus días contados, puesto que Internet la desplazaría como fuente informativa e, incluso, que la versión online del periódico diario ha resultado un suplemento del diario convencional, quitándole, además, buena parte de su público. Por otro lado, se señala que la industria estaría en su época de apogeo, pues ha sabido enfrentar los desafíos y ha posicionado a la versión online como una herramienta complementaria a la impresa. La satisfacción de sus lectores estaría garantizada. ¿Los diarios seguirían cumpliendo su papel con versiones diferenciadas o la distinción entre las ediciones tradicionales y online serían sólo aparentes? En las condiciones actuales de acceso a la información, ¿de qué manera ha influido en Chile la inserción de una versión en línea paralela al título impreso en la difusión de su marca y en la respuesta de sus lectores? El interés por conocer la relación entre la audiencia y los medios de comunicación masiva no es reciente. Existen antecedentes teóricos y empíricos en la materia que se remontan a las primeras décadas del siglo veinte, los cuales profundizan en las características de los mass media y en su efecto en la vida de las personas. Otros estudios se enfocan únicamente en los procesos de recepción de los medios de comunicación masiva, dentro de los cuales se cuentan las investigaciones de hábitos de consumo, que abarcan de manera general el perfil de los lectores y sus comportamientos e intereses. Sin embargo, son muy pocas las iniciativas y los organismos especializados que atienden los procesos de recepción de la prensa diaria, a diferencia de los cientos de trabajos que se centran en las características e influencia de los diarios como empresas periodísticas, es decir, que abordan su proceso de producción o su dinámica como negocio. Los estudios empíricos chilenos sobre hábitos de consumo en la prensa escrita mantienen el énfasis en las audiencias tradicionales, arrojando datos aislados concernientes a su caracterización en cuanto socio-demográfica, percepciones y comportamientos generales de los individuos. Por lo demás, la mayoría de estas investigaciones en el país tienden a ser realizadas por empresas privadas que comercializan los resultados a los entes interesados, que suelen ser las mismas empresas periodísticas. Otras derechamente realizan estudios de mercado a pedido de medios de la prensa específicos. Así, en ambos casos, las investigaciones que recogen este tipo de información son generalmente de carácter cuantitativo, de acceso restringido y con fines netamente ligados a la mercadotecnia. En tanto, la formación y caracterización de los lectores de noticias de diarios online a nivel general no ha sido suficientemente descrita ni menos aún sistematizada en estudios académicos, pese a que los consumidores de diarios online crecen a un ritmo bastante más rápido que los de prensa diaria y dan indicios de las nuevas tendencias. La descripción de los consumidores y sus hábitos de consumo en Chile se observa como un área escasamente explorada, a diferencia de varios países que han realizado estudios públicos y periódicos que dan cuenta del perfil y de los hábitos de consumo de los consumidores de diarios online. Estas iniciativas podrían parecer directamente vinculadas a la alta penetración de Internet en dichos territorios. Sin embargo, en zonas como Uruguay o Argentina, donde hay un impacto mucho menor de la Red en comparación al país, ya se ha comenzado a trabajar en la descripción cuantitativa y cualitativa de los lectores de noticias en línea. Frente a la falta de investigaciones chilenas en este ámbito, y al margen de fines comerciales o publicitarios, el presente estudio pretende revisar cómo la industria de la prensa escrita nacional se ha enfrentado a los nuevos desafíos, enfatizando en la utilización de la versión online. Asimismo, se intentará identificar los actuales perfiles y los hábitos de los lectores de diarios en Santiago, tratando de aportar en lo que hasta ahora ha sido una dimensión subvalorada. De esta manera, se podrá comprender el grado de conexión del lector con el soporte de elección, sus preferencias, el uso y las condiciones temporales y espaciales en que procede a consumir noticias de estas fuentes, como también su correspondencia con la oferta que entregan los diarios en ambas versiones. En el primer capítulo se entregará un panorama general sobre cómo Internet ha generado un impacto en los medios de comunicación tradicionales, abarcando específicamente sus repercusiones en la prensa escrita y en su audiencia. En el segundo capítulo se tratarán las condiciones en las que se produce un agitado debate sobre el futuro de los diarios, los antecedentes de una supuesta crisis en la industria, así como otras referencias que indican cómo la prensa ha sabido adaptarse a las necesidades informativas de sus usuarios y el modo en que la población ha incorporado las nuevas tecnologías como parte de su vida cotidiana. En el tercer capítulo se expondrá la historia y las características de Internet, se profundizará en la evolución de los soportes online e impreso utilizados por la prensa diaria, junto a su respectiva evolución en los últimos años. En el capítulo cuarto se enseñan los principales estudios enfocados en definir a la audiencia de diarios en Chile, evidenciado las modificaciones de su perfil en los últimos años. En los capítulos quinto y sexto se abordarán los vacíos específicos en la materia y los instrumentos metodológicos empleados, que buscan dar respuesta a los objetivos de esta investigación. Por último, en el séptimo capítulo se expondrán los resultados y las conclusiones generales sobre el tema.

Full textNewsworthiness is a relevant journalistic criterion because it connects news (the quintessential journalistic product offered by the media) with their audiences. But the approximations to this criterion are theoretical, and there is no intention of using it as a method of observation. Thus, this dissertation presents a methodological approach to measure and analyze the newsworthiness of a general-interest cyber-newspaper. In addition, there are two main indicators of the interest: the subject of the news and the participation of the users in them, through social networks as Facebook and Twitter and news comments. Methodological approach favored by the digital context. In our research, we consider that the newsworthiness of a general-interest cyber newspaper is defined by the degree of approximation or correspondence (meeting) between the Public Interest and the interest of the public in that cyber newspaper. A cyber-newspaper estimates as Public Interest something that should or could interest to a large sector of society because of its relevance and scope for all citizens, which finally becomes real in the hierarchy of the cyber-newspaper front page, across the first ten news of the left column of the front page. While the interest of the public is understood by this cyber-newspaper as the most interesting information proposed by them to the public, and is represented by a news list of the most read stories by the users of this cyber newspaper. An informative hierarchy of the readers will be provided across the first news. To test our approach, we have studied the proposed approximation to newsworthiness doing a comparative study between the main European general-interest cyber-newspapers of Spain and Italy: ElPaís.com, ElMundo.es, Corrieredellasera.it and LaStampa.it, based on certain criteria and branding diffusion in these European countries. Thus, the main objective of our research is to determine the newsworthiness of the general-interest cyber-newspaper described above. But also to define the agenda-setting and users’ participation in newsworthy news, the newsworthy deficit (the degree of mismatch between the Public Interest and the interest of the public in such newspapers), the Public Interest and the interest of the public. As for the most significant results, one can note that the main general-interest cyber-newspapers of Spain -ElPaís.com and ElMundo.es- and Italy -Corrieredellasera.it and LaStampa.it- have a low newsworthy, being even lower in those of Spain. However, Corrieredellasera.it is the only cyber- newspaper with an intermediate newsworthy. Whereupon, are the users of the Spanish cyber-newspapers the most independent regarding the main informative offer received. On the subject of news, Politics and Economics are the outstanding themes proposed by these online media in its hierarchy of information, while the public is mostly interested in Society and Sports. This divergence of thematic interests could explain a low-interest of these cyber-newspapers newsworthy. In relation to the users’ participation via social networks as Facebook and Twitter and their news comments, users of both countries, Spain and Italy, are more involved in stories that interest them such as those of the newsworthiness and interest of the public. The most active users are those of the Spanish cyber-newspapers, especially those of ElPaís.com. Facebook is the most widely way of participation by users of these online newspaper. Finally, this model of analysis can be a useful methodological tool for media companies because they could know the newsworthiness of a cyber-newspaper accurately. They could analyze its themes, participation of its members and its management, what it may provide them a journalistic benefit, social and economic.

Full textIn a world subject to the changes that technology brings, journalism is obliged to go through a process of conversion to migrate from paper to the web and become a means of high diffusion. The job of journalist is now related with merging the concept of dynamism and immediacy, a remarkable feature of the internet, delivering to the readers quality, truthful and proven news. In addition, the journalist should include web positioning tools (SEO) that allow to locate the content in the first results of search engines such as Google and, in this way, reach more people. In view of this scenario, the following research has as a significant aim to determine whether the correct application of SEO in digital journalistic writing influences the visibility of the news flow within search engines. To this end, 35 notes published in the digital edition of the peruvian newspaper El Comercio during the pandemic by Covid-19 have been used as the subject of study. An instrument has been designed to evaluate journalistic aspects, as well as positioning and impact tools. As a result, two types of behaviors were observed in the selected notes: the first refers to a set of mass news, published under the general signature of the journal, which favor elements of web optimization, hypertextuality and multimediality to the detriment of other aspects of journalism; while the latter is limited to those notes signed by a journalist, which offers extensive texts, with various sources of information and greater processing, leaving aside positioning techniques. In this way, research concludes that while SEO influences the visibility of news content, the challenge is to incorporate the beneficial elements of traditional journalism into the versatile and still unpredictable digital culture.

Full textThis research seeks to identify what are the discursive strategies used in the audiovisual narrative of the YouTube channels of La habitación de Henry Spencer and El diario de Curwen From this, it will be possible to establish certain similarities and differences that both characters possess at the time of creating their staging. The analysis is mainly focused on addressing the issues that Spencer and Curwen deal with, the colloquial language they use to address their followers, the setting or setting where they perform, and finally the character they build to accompany their speech. The premises mentioned for the review of the content of these YouTube channels are born from the arguments raised by some of the authors of the theoretical framework such as, on the one hand, Laura León (2018), Santiago Torrente (2015) and Erving Goffman (1997), who talk about the importance of the character and its staging for the creation of content, in this case of youtubers. On the other hand, Márquez and Ardévol (2018) explain that the use of appropriate language is essential to connect with the public. With the mentioned theories, the study of the product of both characters was carried out, and the strategies they used to get the attention of their followers and differentiate themselves from other youtubers that are part of the YouTube digital stage were established.

Full textNo presente trabalho temos como intuito a compreensÃo acerca de uma intimidade pÃblica, paradoxal e tecnomidiÃtica, que emerge sob o signo da pÃs-modernidade, por meio de prÃticas intensivas e extensivas de escrita de si na cibercultura, as quais vÃm provocando o deslizamento e a ruptura das fronteiras que separavam o pÃblico e o privado na modernidade â a que convencionamos chamar de ciberintimidade. Nesse sentido, pretendemos mapear quais possÃveis motivaÃÃes levam esses sujeitos pÃs-modernos a se constituÃrem por meio de uma escrita intimista, auto-referente e confessional, que pÃe em curso uma nova mentalidade acerca dos nÃveis desejÃveis de exposiÃÃo de si. Como metodologia de trabalho, valemo-nos de: (i) pesquisa bibliogrÃfica concernente Ãs Ãreas de interesse; (ii) anÃlise histÃrico-comparativa entre os diferentes modos de subjetivaÃÃo por meio da escrita de si, bem como dos distintos modos de pensamento acerca das relaÃÃes entre o pÃblico e o privado; (iii) anÃlise do discurso de diÃrios virtuais vertidos em blogs; (iv) realizaÃÃo de entrevistas semi-estruturadas junto a escritores de blogs com feiÃÃo de diÃrios virtuais; (v) aplicaÃÃo de questionÃrio junto a estudantes e professores universitÃrios, a fim de mapear algumas prÃ-compreensÃes acerca do imaginÃrio cibercultural. Ao final, concluÃmos que a ciberintimidade nÃo implica a ausÃncia de filtro em relaÃÃo à exposiÃÃo da intimidade, mas tÃo somente a instauraÃÃo de uma nova mentalidade acerca dos nÃveis desejÃveis quanto aos limites desse filtro, tendo em vista os ganhos secundÃrios que decorrem dessa âperdaâ de privacidade. Entre os quais se destacam: o fortalecimento de vÃnculos de sociabilidade, que resultam numa maior possibilidade de troca nas interaÃÃes entre escritores de blog e seu pÃblico leitor; a possibilidade de compor novos modos de subjetivaÃÃo, por meio de arranjos singulares decorrentes de uma escrita catÃrtica, que à tambÃm uma escuta de si; e, por fim, a possibilidade de erguer guardas de flanco contra as ruÃnas do esquecimento, resguardando para si e para a posteridade um relicÃrio de lembranÃas de vida pessoal no âguarda-memÃriaâ do blog.

O presente trabalho temos como intuito a compreensão acerca de uma intimidade pública, paradoxal e tecnomidiática, que emerge sob o signo da pós-modernidade, por meio de práticas intensivas e extensivas de escrita de si na cibercultura, as quais vêm provocando o deslizamento e a ruptura das fronteiras que separavam o público e o privado na modernidade – a que convencionamos chamar de ciberintimidade. Nesse sentido, pretendemos mapear quais possíveis motivações levam esses sujeitos pós-modernos a se constituírem por meio de uma escrita intimista, auto-referente e confessional, que põe em curso uma nova mentalidade acerca dos níveis desejáveis de exposição de si. Ao final, concluímos que a ciberintimidade não implica a ausência de filtro em relação à exposição da intimidade, mas tão somente a instauração de uma nova mentalidade acerca dos níveis desejáveis quanto aos limites desse filtro, tendo em vista os ganhos secundários que decorrem dessa “perda” de privacidade. Full textIn Peru, most of the news about the members of the LGBTI community (lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans-gender-sexual, intersexual) stress the physical and psychological abuse. The cases developed in this investigation are about a transgender and a transexual individuals that doesn’t follow the previous approach. This article analyzes how the construction of transgender and transexual people is influenced by economic, cultural and representative dimensions that, at the same time, are related to practices and the collective imagination symbolically legitimized and estimagtized that place each gender identity in a spot of the hierarchy of the social space. In that sense, we depart from the idea that transexual. And transgender people cannot be referred as homogenous groups without considering many variables, such as race and social status, beyond gender, and just as fundamental in order to talk about in much complex way of production of identity process in the media. There lays our main contribution: putting in evidence that, in spite of many academic studies in Peru, the construction of gender does not obey one factor only and that it is reduced to a stigmatized position and even marginal inside the dominant society.

El movimiento de protesta homosexual instala la forma de comunicación “Matrimonio Igualitario” que reclama la posibilidad de unión civil para sujetos del mismo sexo en igualdad de derechos y contrariando el Código Civil vigente del Estado chileno, programa del sistema jurídico. La relevancia del tema encuentra su justificación en tanto dicha modificación implicaría la reestructuración de la distinción hombre/mujer, diferencia medular sedimentada en todos los sistemas funcionales aumentando con ello la incertidumbre de los sistemas observadores. En términos de irritación de los sistemas parciales, el 9 de Diciembre del 2011 la forma de comunicación “Matrimonio igualitario” se situaba como tema de connotación pública en el Tribunal Constitucional, instancia en la cual se votaba su in/aplicabilidad en sobre el artículo 102 del Código Civil. Contingentemente, dicha forma de comunicación –desde ahora conceptualizada como script– resuena en medios de difusión digitales tales como la prensa electrónica, medio que se emplea en la producción de información con el objetivo de describir los imaginarios sociales asociados al script, bosquejando algunos caminos explicativos frente a lo plausible del cambio en los procesos de Inclusión/Exclusión social. Se escoge el sitio digital más visitado por chilenos para la lectura de noticias, Emol.com, que permite a dichos observadores plasmar sus comentarios con débiles restricciones gracias a la posibilidad de anonimato del internet. Full textAna Orante's murder in 1997 marked a milestone in the treatment of the gender violence in the mass media. Orantes went to a Canal Sur TV programme to report her experience and within days, her ex husband killed her. The media made repercussion of the declarations that this woman had made few days before. The Media helps victims, associations and feminists to raise public awareness on this matter. In 2004 the Organic Law of Measures of Integral Protection against Gender Violence was approved, in 2007 the Law of Measures of Prevention and Protection against Gender Violence and in 2010 The gender Violence had its reflection on the General Law of Audio Visual Communication. It has been analysed frames of gender violence in written and digital press, national and regional. In particular, 1491 pieces of news from newspapers such as La Verdad, La Opinión, El Mundo and El País, from 2005 to 2010, from the Theory of Framing. The methodology used is the one used in Social Sciences applied to Documentation Sciences. An analytical, descriptive and informative methodology based in contents analysis an it expects to be a method to be used in different knowledge fields such as Sociology or Psychology. Our starting methodology has been positively answered. The specific definition of gender violence in Media from cultural and cognitive view to interpret reality that brings the Theory of Framing, makes us wonder whether there is a change on the focus of this sort of information from the journalist's side. As far as we have been able to reach, among others, the main target of our thesis is the analysis of the construction of the social image about gender violence in Spanish written and on-line press, either national or regional, from the Theory of Framing. The results show clearly a change of trend in the issues raised. Finally, some proposals for improvement are shown

Full textOn this thesis we will analyze the speeches that have been given by the media in platforms like La República and El Comercio, both regarding the same topic: the protests caused by the Tia Maria´s project in 2019. To provide the ideological position that each newspaper has taken, a deep and thoroughly analysis about the redaction, application of images an videos in both platforms has been done. Moreover, it is necessary to highlight that Van Dijk describes journalists as power brokers, since they have the responsibility of pursuing the liberty of expression by performing the news, which are considered as an upstanding fact that has no verification needed as it is estimated that the journalists have appealed and checked their references and information. Regarding the newspaper “El Comercio”, the articles turn complicated, building the guiltiness of one of the sections involved: the protesters, and this has been tested because in their diverse list of publications, the journalist uses denigrating adjectives and prejudiced labels for describing those who are against the Tia Maria project. Speeches are a forum, and journalism is responsible of spreading information for the citizens, so they keep knowledge; however it is important to keep it candid, truthful and objective, but we perceive that because of cultures, thoughts, ideological absorptions, “El Comercio” has not reached objectivity in their platform, while “La República” is looking forward to it.

Full textThis research analyzes the New York Times strategies that have made it one of the most economically sustainable newspapers today. They are compared to the strategies used by the Peruvian newspaper El Comercio to achieve the same objective. By using a constructivist interpretative paradigm with a qualitative approach based on case studies, it has been possible to identify differences and similarities between the two media. As a result, El Comercio has attempted to adopt similar strategies to the New York Times but not to fully implement them. One such example is the creation of various profiles in social networks focused on different sections of the Peruvian media. The North American media certainly has great differences beyond the number of followers and publications. Likewise, it has been noticed that El Comercio continues in the reinvention fight, and the implementation of podcasts in the mobile application is an example of this.

Full textThe news that breaks into the everyday is inside the phenomenon known as police journalism. Also, in the last two decades, digital journalism has become one of the fastest ways of doing journalism, applying the characteristics of "the old school", in the new (not so new) digital forms and constructing one's own on the march. In this research paper, it was decided to look at the case of 'Camilita', the four-year-old girl who was raped and murdered by a fifteen-year-old boy in Payet area of Independencia district. This work seeks to define and identify the treatment of information, the criteria of hierarchization of approaches and the mechanisms or digital resources used in the construction of news of rape and murder of minors in digital journalistic spaces, being these, the main functions covered by the role of gatekeeper, a character who is also known as a curator of content in the digital environment. To reach this point, I used a qualitative methodology and analyzed a corpus of twenty news items, published by the digital newspaper Ojo, between the 2nd and 4th of March 2020, in relation to the 'Camilita' case. At the end of this research, it was concluded that there is a hierarchy of news, defined not only by focus, but also by the use of digital resources of the newspaper Ojo: 'hyperlinks', 'recommended videos' and 'you may be interested'. Likewise, it became evident that these cases generate superficial news and do not incorporate deeper analyses of the reality in which the victims find themselves. This could be one more approach than the one required to be published.

Full textLa presente tesis doctoral aborda el estudio de los acontecimientos mediáticos (media events) en la era digital. El objetivo del trabajo es la elaboración de un modelo de análisis que permita interpretar acontecimientos históricos y mediáticos como la Via Catalana u otros fenómenos similares, propios del siglo XXI. Por eso, en el primer bloque se expone un modelo teórico operativo que revisa el concepto de las ceremonias televisivas de Dayan y Katz y aplica también el análisis a las nuevas formas de comunicación actuales, basadas en Internet y las redes sociales. El instrumento que proponemos permite analizar la organización social de los acontecimientos mediatizada por las TIC y hacer un tratamiento mediático de los hechos en si a partir de las retransmisiones por televisión y radio, la cobertura informativa de los periódicos y los contenidos difundidos en Internet y las redes sociales. En el segundo bloque del trabajo, aplicamos nuestra herramienta al análisis del caso de la Vía Catalana hacia la Independencia, celebrada el 11 de septiembre de 2013. En el trabajo hemos (re) formulado la noción de acontecimiento mediático, hemos elaborado un modelo de análisis y hemos puesto a prueba esta herramienta de investigación que nos ha permitido analizar satisfactoriamente la Via Catalana como un caso paradigmático de los acontecimientos mediáticos del siglo XXI.
This doctoral thesis covers the study of the media events in the digital era. The aim of this work is to elaborate an analysis model that allows us to comprehend the historic and media events like the Catalan Way and other similar happenings from the XXI century. For this reason in the first section we expose a theoretical operative model that examines the concept of television ceremonies from Dayan and Katz, as well as it also applies the analysis to the new ways of communication based in Internet and social networks. The method we propose gives us the possibility to analyze the social organization of the broadcasted events through information and communication technologies (ICT) and execute the processing of the mediatical facts through TV and radio broadcastings, the newspaper coverage and the contents spread through Internet and other social networks. In the second section of this work, we use this analytic tool with the Catalan Way for independence celebrated on September 11th 2013. In this study we have reformulated the concept of media events, we have elaborated an analysis model and tested this research tool successfully with the Catalan Way as a paradigmatic media event from the XXI century.

Full textEl uso de las redes sociales como herramienta periodística se consolida en distintas direcciones y a ritmos diferentes. La literatura académica ha demostrado que las prácticas actuales se alejan de las corrientes utópicas que entendieron las redes sociales, y en concreto Twitter, como una esfera pública donde profesionales y ciudadanos intercambiarían conocimiento con el fin de mejorar el discurso periodístico en particular y la democracia en general. A partir del estudio de cuatro redacciones periodísticas, la presente investigación propone un modelo de estudio del uso de las redes sociales en un contexto profesional, una práctica que aún se está inventando a día de hoy. El objeto de estudio son las rutinas productivas de los periodistas catalanes y de los de la comunidad francesa de Bélgica. Se estudia un medio tradicional y un pure player de cada región con el objetivo de detectar similitudes y diferencias entre ambos sistemas mediáticos. En Catalunya se analiza el diario Ara y el medio digital Vilaweb, mientras que el periódico Le Soir y el cibermedio Apache son los referentes de la comunidad francesa de Bélgica. Las técnicas cuantitativas y cualitativas se complementan para obtener un resultado sólido de la investigación. Se combina la observación directa no participante en las redacciones periodísticas con la entrevistas semi-estrructuradas en profundidad. Así como la observación permite conocer las rutinas reales y el contexto o los factores que influyen en el trabajo de los periodistas, las entrevistas retratan las opiniones de los profesionales y su auto-percepción. El análisis de contenido de los tuits publicados en las cuentas corporativas de los distintos medios, a partir de un modelo de estudio denominado DIP (Difusión I Interacción I Promoción), refuerza el análisis objetivo del uso profesional de esta red social. Los resultados de la investigación señalan que el principal uso de Twitter por parte de los profesionales es para distribuir contenido elaborado por el propio medio de comunicación; que en segundo lugar la red de microblogging es una herramienta útil para crear y promover tanto la marca corporativa del medio de comunicación en cuestión como la del periodista a título individual; que las prácticas asociadas a la posibilidad de interacción –contacto con fuentes y espacio de debate– son a día de hoy residuales; que los periodistas alegan falta de tiempo y de recursos para prestar más atención a la evolución de las noticias una vez han sido difundidas a través de las redes; y que existe la voluntad por parte de los profesionales de alcanzar una mayor interacción con la audiencia. Se defiende que son necesarias más investigaciones académicas en el ámbito español sobre el uso periodístico de las redes sociales, así como la necesidad de elaborar guías de uso para optimizar la plataforma como canal de distribución de contenidos, como herramienta de marketing y como espacio de comunicación con las audiencias. Todo ello con el objetivo final de continuar desarrollando las prácticas periodísticas del siglo XXI.
The use of social media as a journalistic tool is becoming established in different ways and at different paces. The academic literature has shown that current practices are moving away from ideal trends which understood social media, specifically Twitter, as a public sphere where professionals and citizens would share knowledge in order to improve the journalistic discourse in particular and the democracy in general. Based on the study of four newsrooms, this research proposes a study model of the use of social media within a professional context, a practice which is still to be defined. The productive routines of Catalan journalists and those of the French community in Belgium are the objects of study of this research. It focuses on a traditional media and a pure player within every region in order to detect similarities and differences between both media systems. In Catalunya, both Ara newspaper and Vilaweb digital media are analyzed, while in Belgium, the newspaper Le Soir and the online media Apache are the best-known media brands within the French community. Quantitative and qualitative techniques are combined in order to obtain solid research results. It also combines non participant direct observation within newsrooms and in-depth semi-structured interviews. Just like observation allows a better knowledge of real routines, context and factors that may influence the work of journalists, interviews reflect the opinions of professionals and their own self-perception. The content analysis of tweets published by corporate accounts in different media, based on a study called DIP (Diffusion I Interaction I Promotion), reinforces an objective analysis of the professional use of this social network. The results of this research show, firstly, that the main use of Twitter by professionals lies in distributing self-written content; secondly, that the microblogging network is an useful tool to create and promote both the corporative brand as well as the journalist’s brand on an individual basis; thirdly, that the practices which have been associated to the possibility of interaction (contact with sources and platform of discussion) are currently residual practices; fourthly, that journalists allege lack of time and resources to pay more attention to the evolution of news once they have been spread through social media; and finally, that there exists a willingness among professionals to get a higher interaction with the audience. It is argued that more academic researches about the journalistic use of social media are needed in the Spanish-speaking sector, and also the need for guidelines to optimize the platform as a content distribution channel, as a marketing tool and as a channel of communication with the audience. All of this will contribute to keep on developing journalistic practices in line with the 21st century.

Full textThe subject of this thesis is the influence of new technologies in the evolution of digital journalism and how its use has altered its traditional hierarchical criteria (in the form of an inverted pyramid, where the main thing was at the beginning and the rest of the note is its development or description). In this case, the research will be based on how the Peruvian media use clickbait for the development of their informative notes and how this use has changed the structure of the news. The online platforms of three media were reviewed: Diario La República as the written press, Radio RPP as the radio press, and América Noticias as the television press; chosen for having been pioneers in their fields in the transition to the digital world and also for the high level of readership and audience. To achieve the proposed objective, a content analysis was carried out with a period of time delimited by the appearance of the zero COVID-19 patient in Peru (March 6), which was the moment when the Peruvian public became aware of that the disease had reached our country; until the beginning of the quarantine was decreed (March 15), the date on which the State reacted and took measures to combat and / or prevent the spread of the virus. The most important finding in the three media is that there is a variation in the structure of the informative notes that contain a clickbait, using a mainly rhomboid hierarchization (writing structure where the main information or the response to the note holder is in the middle and not at the beginning).

Concebidas como un elemento de educación e información ciudadana, las VAAs permiten a los electores encontrar al partido u opción política con los que tienen mayor coincidencia al comparar sus posturas en ciertas cuestiones de política pública con las de los candidatos/partidos/coaliciones que se presentan a dicha elección. Después de presentar la herramienta creada a finales del siglo XX en Holanda y aplicada en otros países como una buena práctica, este trabajo de investigación pretende reflejar las diferencias, retos, problemas y éxitos enfrentados al implementar la metodología en tres distintos entornos: Cataluña (Elecciones.es), Chile (VotoInformado) y un proyecto en red para las elecciones europeas de 2014 (VoteMatch Europe).
The following dissertation is an experimental analysis around the implementation of the tools known as Voting Advice Applications in different environments. Conceived as a standard guide for voters in any kind of elections, the VAAs aim to help voters to find the political party that would represent them better in a given situation. After defining the tool created in the Netherlands at the end of the 20th Century as a best practice, this research will go through the problems, success and challenges faced by teams that had introduced the method in three different environments: Catalonia (Elecciones.es), Chile (VotoInformado) and a network for the European Elections (VoteMatch Europe).

Full textInternet facilita el acceso a los ciudadanos a un volumen astronómico de datos y de intercambios comunicativos, pero la calidad de lo que se publica es diversa y el rol de los intermediarios tradicionales se ha alterado. En consecuencia, las bases epistémicas del conocimiento social se están transformando. Por este motivo se hace necesario abordar los procesos mediante los cuales las audiencias evalúan la información digital. Este trabajo indaga en el uso de la noción de credibilidad como herramienta de cognición social que legitima la información de segunda mano y contribuye a transformar datos en conocimiento. El estudio de la credibilidad es complejo porque su significado es ambiguo, polisémico e incorpora una gran variabilidad en función del tipo de conocimiento donde se aplica y de otros factores contextuales. Sin embargo, un punto común es que la idea de credibilidad está condicionada por lo que se acepta como verdad. Esta tesis analiza las prácticas y las representaciones discursivas de las audiencias en torno a tres ámbitos temáticos -salud, economía y turismo- que se sitúan en una escala metafórica de descripción del conocimiento como cerrado, semi-abierto y abierto. Para ello, ha empleado una metodología cualitativa combinando las técnicas de la entrevista semi-estructurada y la observación a través del protocolo de pensamiento en voz alta. Los resultados aportan itinerarios de procesamiento de la información variados y condicionados por los discursos del conocimiento hegemónico en los diferentes campos temáticos. Asimismo permiten captar ciertas prácticas comunes de la evaluación de la información que caminan hacia representaciones de autosuficiencia informativa de los usuarios. La aportación original del trabajo es una definición de credibilidad que supera los problemas de ambigüedad teórica asociados al término en la literatura científica y en la proposición de un modelo teórico procesual.
Using the internet as a source of information is crucial to lots of people in contemporary societies. Its open and decentralized structure makes the access to data and communicative exchanges dramatically easy. The quality of what is published is diverse and the role of traditional intermediaries is altered. Consequently, the epistemic underpinnings of social cognition are changing. Therefore, addressing the processes by which audiences evaluate digital information has become a necessity. This work addresses the use of credibility as a tool for social cognition from a point of view beyond the deterministic sublimation of computers as symbolic objects of knowledge. Credibility legitimates second-hand information and it is essential for data to become knowledge. Researching credibility is very complex because its meaning is ambiguous, polysemic and includes a great variability according to the type of discipline where it is applied and other contextual factors. However, there is a consensus on the claim that credibility is conditioned by representations of what people accept as the truth. This dissertation analyses discursive representations of credibility assessments among a variety of internet audiences inside three topic domains: health, economy and tourism. This research design is influenced by a metaphoric description of knowledge in each domain as closed, semi-open and open, respectively. A qualitative methodology approach has been used, based on semi-structured interviews and observation. The last technique is a tailored adaptation of the think aloud protocol employed in usability research. Results provide a set of varied pathways of information processing that are influenced by discourses of hegemonic knowledge in the selected topic areas. Besides, they allow establishing some common habits that are close to representations of self-sufficiency in the evaluation of credibility. This self-sufficiency is built on access to primary information (raw data or testimonials) that is interpreted according to reliability criteria. The original contribution of this dissertation consists of: 1) a definition of credibility that overcomes the theoretical problems of ambiguity reported by scientific literature, 2) the proposition of a processual model for credibility assessment.

Com esta investigação procuramos analisar a relação existente entre a produção escrita de diários digitais e a prática da docência reflexiva. Para atingirmos este objetivo, analisaremos os diários digitais escritos por vários professores de vários níveis de ensino e em diferentes fases da sua vida profissional, o que nos permitirá apreciar o contributo deste exercício de escrita para o seu desenvolvimento profissional. Estes diários são escritos utilizando recursos livres, disponíveis a qualquer pessoa que utilize a internet. Foi também nosso objetivo analisar a relação entre a escrita dos diários de aula digitais e o desenvolvimento de competências profissionais para ensinar. Procuramos, ainda, evidenciar aspetos facilitadores da produção de diários digitais e desocultar obstáculos à escrita dos mesmos. Nesta investigação desenvolvemos uma abordagem de tipo qualitativa, e recorremos a análise de conteúdo do discurso produzido nos diários digitais pelos participantes no estudo, e na análise das entrevistas semiestruturadas aplicadas aos participantes nesta investigação. Foi ainda analisado o conteúdo do diário do investigador edificado ao longo desta investigação. A análise e discussão dos resultados permitiram concluir que os diários de aula digitais se assumem como bons instrumentos indutores de reflexão, autosupervisão e boas bases para o desenvolvimento de competências profissionais docentes, mas que existem vários constrangimentos que podem ser um impedimento para que os diários de aula digitais atinjam esse mesmo potencial.
With this research we aim to analyze the relationship between the writing of digital diaries and a reflexive practice of teaching. To achieve this purpose, we will analyze the digital diaries written by teachers in different levels of teaching and in different stages of their professional live, which will allow us to analyze the contribution of this writing exercise to their professional development. These diaries are written with freeware resources, available to anyone who uses the internet. It was also our goal to analyze the relationship between the writing of the digital diaries and the development of the professional competences for teaching. We also aim to discover which aspects favor, and uncover obstacles to the writing of these digital diaries. We have a qualitative approach inherent to this investigation, based on the content analysis over the data collected from the digital teacher diaries, but also from semi-structured interviews applied to the participants in this study. The content of the investigator s narrative built throughout the investigation was also analyzed. The analysis and discussion of the results allowed us to conclude that the digital diaries are good reflection or self-supervision instruments and that they are a good base for the development of the professional competences for teaching, although there are several constraints that can be an obstacle for them to achieve their full potential.

Full textHaving spent more than 4 years in camps of forced labor, Jonas Mekas, Lithuanian, is deported by the United-Nations in 1949 to the United States. With his brother, both survivors of the Second World War, they manage to acquire a bolex 16 mm camera. Outside the Hollywood cinematographic industry, Mekas participates to the institutionalization of the underground artistic community by creating cooperatives, associations and magazines. Mekas is devoting his time to make experimental film genre accessible and allows it to become publicly recognized for its artistic value, which would lead towards protecting and preserving it. In 1969, Mekas produced "Diaries, Notes and Sketches: Also Known has Walden" which condense 4 years of capturing everyday events, people, New York, nature. From his Walden, Mekas will reuse some sequences found in this first draft when comes the time to edit new films. In 2006, Mekas produces his “first digital essay” entitled "The First Forty" (2006). It consists in a presentation of his cinematic labor to a new public, his “new Internet Audience”, in which sequences of Walden appear. Accessible on his official website, this digital piece is composed by videos and their textual descriptions, reminding us of Diaries, Notes and Sketches: Also Known has Walden and its table of content drafted by the artist in 1969. These two apparatus have a similar function : by them, Jonas Mekas explicitly gives these two pieces to the spectators. By investigating the sociological “gift theory” developed by the Jacques T. Godbout, our project was to reveal how “the gift spirit" can be found within those two creations. This study allows us to believe that audiovisual/cinematographic apparatus created by Mekas are “objects” which can be received such as gifts leading to arrouse the spectator’s desire to give in his turn. In this way, they are personal and collective symbolic cement necessary for the fulfillment of the process of “recognition” which involves the gift spirit.
