In principle, the estimation of textbook didactic capacity is based on decomposition of the textbook content into a set of different objects and their subsequent frequency analysis. In this study, three Czech textbooks and three Russian textbooks were characterized by particular and total didactic capacity coefficients. The indifference of the calculated didactic capacities was tested by chi-square statistics at a level of significance α = 0.

The present article sought to investigate if the use of different external mediation mechanisms to teach the Bohr Atom model in elementary education with the didactic methodology of the Potentially Significant Teaching Units (PSTU) can result in Meaningful learning. Therefore, we naturally use the theoretical contribution of the Ausubelian Meaningful Learning Theory, in particular by discussing elements that indicate evidence of meaningful learning. This theory was adopted with the purpose of understanding and analyzing whether or not there is evidence of meaningful learning with elementary le

Introduction: Biochemistry is the science that deals with the metabolic functions of living beings. In its concepts, it uses chemistry and biology to study the interactions of organisms with the environment. For basic education students is often complex the association of biochemistry with their daily lives, especially in elementary school where they have their first contact with science in school and the didactic book will serve as an important tool for research. Thus, this work aims to analyze qualitatively content related to biochemistry in science books of the final years of elementary sch

Using the paradigm of activity theory, the central problem of this paper (This paper is supported by FCT – Foundation for Science and Technology (Project “Promoting Success in Mathematics” – PTDC/CPE-CED/121774)) is the characterization of the processes through which teachers replicate, adapt, and improvise tasks of textbooks with use of technological resources (CD-ROMs and web portals). In other words, we seek to identify teachers’ use of schemas in actions mediated by these technological elements.
