Abstract:
We present here a realist multilevel situational analysis of maternal depression. We use situational analysis to identify the interaction of mothers with social structures and the possible causal influence of those social structures on her well-being. The analysis moves from an emergent empirical approach toward the more reflexive and abductive approach of situational analysis, thus better informing our abductive reasoning and the generation of theory. Critical realism and symbolic interactionism provide the methodological underpinning for the study. The setting was South Western Sydney, Australia. Interviews of mothers and practitioners were analyzed using open coding to enable maximum emergence. Situational analysis was then undertaken using situational and social worlds/arena maps. Home and neighborhood situational analysis mapping and analysis of relations identified the following concepts: (a) expectations and dreams, (b) marginalization and being alone, (c) loss or absence of power and control, and (d) support and nurturing. The neighborhood and macro-arena situational analysis mapping and analysis of relations identified the following concepts: (a) social support networks, social cohesion and social capital; (b) services planning and delivery and social policy; and (c) global economy, business, and media. Emerging was the centrality of being alone and expectations lost as possible triggers of stress and depression within circumstances where media portrays expectations of motherhood that are shattered by reality and social marginalization. We further observe that powerful global economic and political forces are having an impact on the local situations. The challenge for policy and practice is to support families within this adverse regional and global economic context.

Abstract:
Judgments of well-being across different circumstances and spheres of life exhibit a staggering diversity. Depending on the situation, we use different standards of well-being and even treat it as being constituted by different things. This is true of scientific studies as well as of everyday life. How should we interpret this diversity? I consider three ways of doing so: first, denying the legitimacy of this diversity, second, treating well-being as semantically invariant but differentially realizable, and, third, adopting contextualist semantics for well-being expressions. I reject the first option on the grounds that it is unable to make sense of much of everyday and scientific linguistic practices, and also because it makes the category of well-being insignificant or even otiose for practical purposes. We should thus pick between the second and the third options. I argue that contextualism about well-being is more plausible and faces fewer objections than the differential realization view. I conclude with a discussion of other features of contextualism: it does not imply that well-being is relative to individual taste, it need not result in eliminativism about well-being, nor in scepticism about a general theory of well-being. It does not commit us to an “anything goes” approach, nor does it threaten anarchy and miscommunication.

Abstract:
The effect of various circumstances known to moderate willingness to forgive was studied in a sample of adults whose ages ranged from 18 to 90 years. The factorial structure of these circumstances was shown, as well as the link between age and the different factors. Four factors were extracted: (1) A Revenge Versus Forgiveness factor reflecting a general tendency in people to forgive (or to seek revenge) regardless of circumstances. (2) A Personal and Social Circumstances factor synthesizing the effects of various incentives from the social environment of the person. (3) An Obstacle to Forgiveness factor synthesizing the effects of the circumstance linked to the offense. (4) A Forgiveness Block factor. Age appeared as the strongest determinant of forgivingness.

Abstract:
This article explores the several security challenges faced by small and landlocked countries which seem to be harmful for peace, prosperity, security and development. Small and landlocked countries, like Nepal, in the world are experiencing different security challenges at present in the backdrop of different political power. The national security in twenty first century is meant for peace, prosperity and economic progress and development. In the changing dynamics of Nepal, especially after the promulgation of the Constitution in 2015, the security issue has been a major concern for political stability and international relations. Though the security issue has a very long history, since the beginning of human civilization it was important, its goal is not ended yet. Nonetheless, the internal and external dynamics of national security have been shifted in the changing contexts of regional, and global political power. It has diverse sensitivity in different circumstances of political regime. The classical agro-based state-constructed security is relocated into human-centric notion for peace, stability and development. Contrary the small and landlocked states are always in threat in different ways which is undoubtedly different things to different people. The sense of national security in the academia involves mitigation of physical threat and psychological fear. As a result, the cherished values collapsed and affect the conditions of peace, stability and development.

Abstract:
Why have many transition economies succeeded by pursuing policies which are so different from the radical economic liberalization (shock therapy) that is normally credited for the economic success of countries of Central Europe? First, optimal policies are context dependent, they are specific for each stage of development and what worked in Slovenia cannot be expected to work in Mongolia. Second, even for the countries with the same level of development reforms that are necessary to stimulate growth are different; they depend on the previous history and on the path chosen. The reduction of government expenditure as a share of GDP did not undermine significantly the institutional capacity of the state in China, but in Russia and other CIS countries it turned out to be ruinous. The art of the policymaker is to create markets without causing government failure, as happened in many CIS countries.

Abstract:
This study evaluated the performance of probability distribution in various financial periods by investigating the effect of economic cycle on extreme stock return activity. Malaysian stock price KLCI data from 1994–2008 were split into three economy periods correspond to the growth, financial crisis, and the recovery. Four prevalent distributions specifically generalized lambda distribution (GLD), generalized extreme value (GEV), generalized logistic (GLO), and generalized pareto (GPA) were employed to model weekly and monthly maximum and minimum Kuala Lumpur Composite Index (KLCI) share returns. The L-moment approach was used to estimate the parameter while k-sample Anderson darling (k-ad) test was applied to measure the goodness of fit estimation. In conclusion, GLD is the most appropriate distribution representing a weekly maximum minimum return for overall three economic scenarios in Malaysia.

Abstract:
A color indicator detection algorithm under different illumination conditions is proposed. First, based on the similarity between consecutive video frames in channel L of Lab color space, background image can be determined. Differentiation of a frame and the background can identify the motion region, and thus the search area for the color indicator is greatly reduced. Second, the convex hull of motion region is specified and sampling is taken within it. By assigning the weight, seeds can be determined using clustering method. Finally, region growing is implemented by applying Bayesian decision with minimal error ratio. The method is applicable to more different conditions and produces better results compared with traditional color-threshold vector method.

Abstract:
To study the possibilities of volatilization in the asphalt pavement during service process, this paper presented an experimental investigation in the laboratory-based environment by simulating the circumstances of Infrared (IR) and Ultraviolet Radiation (UV). The Vacuum (Va) condition was also conducted to discuss the possibilities of volatilization in the asphalts. The changes of asphalt mass, chemical compositions and viscosity were conducted to analyze the experimental results. All the results on the circumstance of Va, that the decrement of asphalt mass, the decrement of light components and the increment of VI values, indicated that there may exist the volatilization in the asphalt. Different trends between IR and UV with asphalts demonstrate that the volatilization is affected by asphalt species and environmental conditions. In addition, ultraviolet radiation may take a vital role on the volatilization of asphalt.

Abstract:
Introduction. The significant complication of science and practice in human activity have generated the need to develop more complex methods of examination of physical evidence, where complex forensic expertise is one of these methods. Theoretical analysis. The methods of interaction of forensic experts (methodological, procedural and psychological), as important aspects of the analysis of complex examinations, have been considered quite extensively and described in many literature sources. The aspect of the logic of the integrated approach and the logical links between the decisions of the members of the expert team requires a formal logical analysis of all components of the integrated study, including the forensic ballistic examination of the traces and circumstances of the shot. Еmpirical analysis. It has been revealed that we deliberately define complex expertise not through different fields of knowledge or specialties of experts, but through types, kinds and subtypes of forensic examinations. Results. The combination of expertise in solving an expert problem, applying all the knowledge from different fields of science (whereby the synthesis of results and their evaluation lies outside the methodology of the combined expert specialisations) logically allows for giving a joint conclusion, which reflects the generalised results of the study.

Abstract:
The outbreak of Covid-19 disease since late 2019 has led to fundamental changes in the process of globalization and liberalization of the world economy. In order to prevent the spread of this disease and control its negative consequences, many countries have implemented policies such as urban quarantine, cutting off passenger communication with neighboring countries and the world, closing tourist and tourist places, and implementing policies to protect domestic industries. In general, it led to the phenomenon of reverse globalization. According to the development of new economic convergence, which is based on the role of the market in economic relations between countries can play an important role in improving the productive capacity of countries in a region and create economic integration in different parts of the world. Such a state of integration in different parts of the world could be the solution to the process of globalization and in the post-Corona era, the concept of “one for all, all for one” was created at the regional and global level. As policy implications, the paper recommended some points to make a greater integration between Iran and Russia in the region

When his 1837 Upper Canada Rebellion came to a sudden end with the routing of rebels at Montgomery’s Tavern on 7 December, William Lyon Mackenzie was forced to run for his life. With a price on his head, travelling mostly by night—west toward the Niagara Escarpment, south around the end of Lake Ontario and then east across the Niagara peninsula—the rebel leader made his way from a village north of Toronto to safety across the Niagara River in the United States. His journey of more than 150 miles took five days ( four nights) on foot, on horseback, and on wagon or sleigh, was aided by more than thirty different individuals and families. At great personal risk, they fed him, nursed him, hid him, advised him, accompanied him. Abstract:
Analyzing traffic accidents is very important due to their direct impact on the social environment. In the literature, many studies focus on the different aspects that influence traffic accidents, such as human, vehicle, road and environment risk factors. In this paper, we propose a methodology for testing the relationship between road, external environment, driver and vehicle characteristics, and certain circumstances that lead to the traffic crashes. Particularly, we elaborate on logistic regression models for evaluating how these different characteristics impact on crash severity, considering the combination of traffic circumstances that caused the crash. In each combination, a vehicle proceeded regularly, whereas the other vehicle did an incorrect maneuver (the vehicle proceeded: with distracted driving; without maintaining the safety distance; with speeding; by maneuvering to join the circulation flow; against the flow). The present work analyzes data related to road crashes which occurred in Italy during 2016 involving two vehicles. The results show that the variables significantly influencing crash severity are different depending on the combinations of circumstances that cause the crash.

Abstract: Several recent decisions by el Tribunal Supremo (Spanish Supreme Court) have expressed the need to reconsider the contractual problems that may arise following an unexpected change of circumstances. However, these court decisions have not helped achieve normalization since they apply foreign legislative concepts and disregard the basic principles of Spanish contract law. With the help of a comparative analysis, the aim of this article is to contribute to finding answers to a classical problem of Spanish contract law that needs an urgent solution in the context of the economic crisis. American law has been chosen to carry out this comparison because this legal system has not been studied in depth by Spanish authors when dealing with this issue and additionally because the practical approach of this law would be of value to a more formalistic system such as the Spanish or others legal systems of Continental Europe as the French, where this problem has not been provided with an specific solution. It will also be shown that, despite the significant differences existing between US and Spanish law, the understanding of the problem and the solutions needed are not so different in both systems. This last conclusion is the best evidence of the fact that the value and usefulness of comparative law resides in the way of understanding legal problems and providing themwith solutions and not necessarily in making legal systems technically similar. The study and understanding of US law may contribute to finding a solution to the problem in Spain and also, more importantly, to show how the alleged differences existing between civil and common law systems are often more formal than substantial. It will also be shown the different approach adopted by US and Spanish contract law when facing crises situations.

Abstract:
Aims and Objectives: The aim of this introductory chapter to Effects of Limited Input, a Special Issue of the International Journal of Bilingualism, is to give a brief overview of how the topic of limited linguistic input is situated within the study of bilingualism and language contact. The seven chapters—which present samples of the varied circumstances in which bilinguals acquire, use, maintain, and sometimes suppress areas of their languages—are introduced. Research Questions: The authors of this collection address the following kinds of questions: What are the circumstances—and consequences—of limited linguistic input? What kinds of changes are likely or unlikely to happen when the amount of input is low and stylistically reduced? How meager can the input be for some degree of functional bilingualism to still develop? Design/Methodology: The methods used in the seven articles in this collection vary; they include case studies, observations, speech-rate measurements, oral narration tasks, comparisons of production vs. comprehension, and longitudinal approaches. Data and Analysis: The studies in this collection draw from a wide variety of data sets, including bilingual corpora and naturally occurring or elicited speech. The data come from children, youth, and adults, from various languages and language contact settings, and from populations with varying degrees of bilingualism. Findings/Conclusions: We argue that limited input is not restricted to bilingual situations alone; it relates also to the mastering of monolingual registers. The key argument of this introductory chapter is that limited input is the rule, not the exception, as it is very rare to find a language contact situation wherein all contact varieties are equally represented in the input that speakers receive. Therefore, we argue against the theoretical notion of “balanced bilingualism” as a realistic outcome of bilingualism and claim that variations in the circumstances of language exposure will naturally lead to different consequences and configurations in the outcomes of bilingual acquisition. One inevitable outcome is language change. Originality: All the articles in this collection are original, providing new angles to the complex topic of variation in speakers’ access to their languages in contact settings. Significance: The authors of this collection look at various aspects of language contact situations through the lens of limited input. This emphasis allows us to view bilingualism as a special case of monolingual register variation and reject the concept of “balanced bilingualism.”

Abstract:
Leadership preferences can be affected by several aspects, and this section will illustrate the structure of the paper first and then demonstrate the gist purpose of the paper. To begin with, this paper will be separated into five sections: the Abstract, Introduction, Body paragraphs, Conclusion, and References to explain the leadership preferences of different genders. Secondly, this paper explained the differences in leadership preferences in different genders and observed some elements which were separated into different columns in the body paragraph that can influence leadership preferences and then set them as a whole passage to give readers a much clearer idea about the differences in preferences in leadership concerning two genders. Through the whole paper, there are several aspects that can influence the preferences of leadership which are cultural complexities, the locus of control, curiosity and the reactions of followers, peoples self-considerations, the power of leadership, gender stereotypes, and the level of willingness to take risks.

Full text
Abstract:
The article is devoted to the study of one of the mitigating circumstances provided for in Point 2 of Part 1 of Article 66 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, – voluntary compensation for harm or elimination of damage caused. It is noted that many issues related to this circumstance have been researched by scholars and generally accepted positions have been formulated regarding them. at the same time, the question of the amount of compensation for the harm caused or elimination of the damage caused is ambiguous, since it is not clear whether their partial compensation or elimination is allowed, or, on the contrary, only full compensation or elimination is required. The author, applying different ways of interpreting the text of the criminal law, presented a number of arguments in favor of the fact that such compensation or elimination should only be full, otherwise they cannot be taken into account as a circumstance mitigating the punishment. The opinion is provided that if it is assumed that partial compensation for the harm caused or elimination of the damage caused is as well allowed, then this will lead to problems in law enforcement, since it is impossible to justify compensation or elimination of which part of the harm or damage can be considered sufficient to mitigate the punishment. Another question arises in the context of the provisions of Part 2 of Article 66 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine on the ground of inexhaustibility of the list of mitigating circumstances, in particular, can partial compensation for the harm or elimination of the damage be taken into account as a mitigating circumstance? A negative answer is offered to this question, because it is stated that Part 2 of Article 66 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine refers to circumstances mitigating punishment other than those already provided for by the criminal law. Therefore, the recognition of partial compensation for the harm caused or elimination of the damage caused as a mitigating circumstance will nullify the significance of the circumstance provided for in Point 2 of Part 1 of Article 66 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, and in general will create prerequisites for a too broad interpretation of other circumstances provided for by law.

Groen, A. F. "Influences of production circumstances on the economic revenue of cattle breeding programmes." Animal Science 51, no. 3 (1990): 469–80. http://dx.doi.org/10.1017/s0003356100012502.

Abstract:
ABSTRACTThe economic values of cattle production traits differ with different production circumstances. This sensitivity implies that (1) production circumstances influence the revenue of breeding programmes, and (2) losses in revenue of breeding programmes occur when circumstances used in defining breeding goals are incorrect with regard to actual production circumstances at the moments of expression of genetic superiorities. In this study, these effects are quantified for a set of genotype and index traits, including milk production traits, food intake capacity and live weight. Twenty-four situations of production circumstances were studied, including alternative output limitations, milk production levels, roughage qualities and product (milk, beef) and production-factor (food) prices. Results indicate that type of output limitation is the most important factor in determining revenue. Also, incorrect prediction of type of limitation leads to highest losses in revenue found (proportionately 0·01 to 0·06 of revenue). Losses in revenue due to incorrect prediction of production circumstances seem too low to justify complete diversification of cattle breeding goals within a breeding organization, except for different types of output limitations.

Abstract:
AbstractThe recognition of individual identity as multilayered and circumstance based leads to a shift from a theory of general rights to a theory of specific rights connected to structural social change. General rights, such as the right to health and the right to work, must be interpreted according to the circumstance of differently situated women, so that rights are specific enough to ensure that they are actually enforced for different groups, including groups that, due to discrimination, are made invisible to the law. In this sense, the different circumstances that help develop the identity of women, Black women or poor Black women in Brazil will be studied to give specific content to general rights recognised by Brazilian law and by International human rights law.

Abstract:
Information on the living conditions of widows in Vietnam is limited. Prior studies of gender gaps have identified widows as vulnerable to the risks of poverty. However, widows are only included as a sub-group in broader studies of women’s well-being. Large gaps remain in the knowledge based on the factors affecting both widows’ susceptibility to poverty and the conditions or circumstances that might minimize these risks. This paper attempts to help redress these knowledge gaps by contributing an analysis of data from the 2018 Vietnam Household Living Standard Surveys. The paper compares the likelihood of poverty for widowed and other households using probit regression. It also assesses whether widows who head up their households face different risks of poverty from those who live in other households. Finally, the paper examines the effects on the risk of poverty of a range of social, demographic and locational characteristics of widow households in Vietnam. Our results indicate that widowed households have experienced a higher probability of falling into poverty. Moreover, widow-headed households have faced more vulnerability to fresh water and housing, especially among widowed households. Policy implications have emerged based on the findings of this paper.

Abstract:
Force majeure (force majeure) can cause a significant change in circumstances, which is the basis for termination or change of the contract, and, ultimately, leads to the termination of the obligation (its termination) or the preservation of the obligation in a modified form. Legal regulation of the legal consequences of a significant change in the circumstances that exist at the conclusion of the contract is usually based on one of two key principles of contract law: the principle, according to which contracts must be performed (pacta sunt servanda), or clause (clausula rebus sic stantibus). The legislation of foreign countries contains rules, according to which "a change of circumstances may justify a change in the contract, when the preservation of the contract in its original form leads to extraordinary results, incompatible with justice" [1]. The main consequences of a significant change in the circumstances that guided the parties in concluding the contract are: - actually change the contract, ie change the terms of the contract (and as a consequence - the obligations between the parties) while maintaining the contract in force; - and termination of the contract by agreement of the parties. If the parties do not agree to bring the contract in line with the circumstances that have changed significantly, or to terminate it, the contract may be terminated on the grounds, established by the Central Committee of Ukraine, amended by a court decision at the request of the interested party: at the conclusion of the contract the parties proceeded from the fact that such a change of circumstances will not occur; the change of circumstances is due to reasons, which the interested party could not eliminate after their occurrence with all the care and diligence, required of it
