Phosphorus is regarded the main regulating nutrient, and nearly 25% of the nutrients coming to the Baltic Sea originate from wastewater treatment plants. To reduce the nutrient concentrations in the effluents from treatment plants, tertiary treatment methods based on chemical dosing have been the principal answer. The chemicals create a sludge in addition to remediating the water, which needs disposal. Methods for remediating secondary wastewater with microalgae exist but are not common in conventional was

Abstract:
Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) has become a key technology of communication. Our work has been a practical implemenation of different scenarios to show that VoIP voice quality can be improved by adopting certain Quality of Service(QoS) measures such as classification, marking or queuing. It has been discussed that different QoS metrics like delay, packet loss and jitter could affect the voice quality of VoIP. To reduce the negative affects, one option is to implement certain QoS mechanisms with some set of configurations. For this purpose, Cisco IP phones have been configured in our topol

Abstract:
Objectives: the hypothesis of this study was that different abutment substrates would not affect epithelial cell attachment and differentiation. Methods: 15 discs for each of 5 different materials (4 types of titanium and 1 type of zirconium) were flooded with a media containing human adenoid epithelial cells (hTERT). Cells were allowed to attach on the discs for 2 hours. The media was then collected, and remaining suspended cells counted, to determine number of attached cells. Surfaces were then flooded with fresh media, collected 24 hours later. Levels of 6 different pro-inflammatory cytokin

The purpose of this study was to investigate little known and often neglected category of American education, the articulated military school and junior college.;Kemper Military School and College was chosen as the representative institution studied for several reasons: it has remained in almost continuous operation since its founding in 1844 at the height of the academy movement; it specialized as a military school in 1885 when the popularity of general academies began to wane; during the 1920s, it seized upon the rapid growth of the early junior college movement to expand in size and scope;

Aim: The aim of this study is to evaluate if additive manufacturing (AM) is an appropriate manufacturing method for insoles in comparison to vacuum forming (VF) and subtractive manufacturing (SM) in regards of material properties such as abrasion resistance. Background: Traditionally insoles are manufactured with either VF or SM. AM has been around for some decades but implementation into orthotic and prosthetic (O&P) business has not been accomplished yet. Therefore, the quality of the products produced with AM must be tested in comparison with traditional methods. Method: A comparison of

The internal combustion engine requires clean air in order to operate without problems the entire service life. The air filter acts as a barrier between the ambient air ridden with particulate matter, and the sensitive interior of the engine. Several factors affect the air filter performance, such as pressure drop, efficiency, and dust holding capacity. Many external factors affect the air filter too, such as driving style, engine type, if the car is equipped with hybrid propulsion et cetera. The scope for this thesis work aims to extend the knowledge of air filtration for the customer, in thi

Introduction: There have not been any prosthetic feet available that can match an intact foot in functionality. Little focus has been on research on prosthetic foot performance in frontal plane motions and while most have investigated sagittal plane motions. Background: Normal gait is an artform of falling, thus the intact anatomical foot needs to be capable of handling a wide-range of environments. A prosthesis is an external helping aid for amputees, therefore they lack the ability to adapt to different environments. Most of the researches on prosthetic feet have focused on the sagittal plan

We study modifications to the novel stochastic watershed method for segmentation of digital images. This is a stochastic version of the original watershed method which is repeatedly realized in order to create a probability density function for the segmentation. The study is primarily done on synthetic images with both same-sized regions and differently sized regions, and at the end we apply our methods on two endothelial cell images of the human cornea. We find that, for same-sized regions, the seeds should be placed in a spaced grid instead of a random uniform distribution in order to yield

Abstract:
Forgiveness is the act of moving beyond shame, guilt, anger, or blame, and it has been linked to psychological well-being, prosocial behavior, and religion/spirituality (R/S). However, the research on why and how people forgive is inconsistent, as the concepts involved are complex and difficult to define and operationalize. The purpose of this interpretative phenomenological analysis (IPA) was to provide a better understanding of why and how people are cognitively and emotionally able to forgive and the role of R/S in that process. Goal orientation and cognitive restructuring theories were use
