Abstract:
In the aftermath of the financial crisis of 2008, regulatory authorities have implemented stricter policies to ensure more prudent risk management practices among banks. Despite the growing importance of demand deposits for banks, no policies for how to adequately account for the inherent interest rate risk have been introduced. Demand deposits are associated with two sources of uncertainties which make it difficult to assess its risks using standardized models: they lack a predetermined maturity and the deposit rate may be changed at the bank’s discretion. In light of this gap, this study aim

Health systems in most high-income countries provide protection against the financial risks associated with ill health on a broadly universal basis, although many impose measures that lower financial protection, for example, by offering a limited package of benefits or requiring beneficiaries to pay part of the cost of health care at the point of use. This last measure, known as cost sharing or user charges, is a policy tool applied mainly to raise revenue for the health system and to enhance efficiency. The volume model and the deposit rate model are used to determine the liquidity and interest rate risk, which is done separately. They assumed that products decrease just because of the demand in the market and products’ storing have no deadline. However, in daily life, the deteriorating of goods is a very common phenomenon. Pharmaceuticals, foods, vegetables and fruit are a few examples of such items. For longtime storing, they are no more fresh. The deteriorating items result in the decreasing of the products. Therefore, the loss due to deterioration cannot be negl

Beside traditional fixed production rate, production rate may change at any time in some case. For example, it may adjust by the market demand or by the inventory level. Besides, deterioration is a common phenomenon in many products. It is defined as decay or damage such that the item cannot be used for its original purpose (eg. Drugs, volatile liquids and food stuff, etc.). it makes the inventory decrease not only by the

At the same time, the assumption of that the rate of demand within the backorder duration is decreasing when the shortage time is increasing. The optimal selling price of product, backorder time and order quantity will be decided with maximizing the net profit. We also provide two numerical examples, to describe the results and their effects. Simultaneously, we also use the sensitivity analysis to verify the eff

In the multimedia applications, there generally include large amount of the video/voice information. For reducing the buffer requirement in the client side and service request/response time, streaming technology is usually adopted to handle the multimedia traffic transmission. In this thesis, we target on the transmission of MP3 music which has a constant bit rate characteri

However, little literature is available on an important design issue for P2P video-on-demand systems, i.e., determining the maximal service capacity of a system. In this thesis, we first propose an optimal rate allocation scheme to maximize the service capacity of a P2P video-on-demand system. The proposed rate allocation scheme determines the parent/child relationship among peers and the link ra

Abstract:
This project is aimed to design a dual chamber rate responsive cardiac pacemaker, implement it in VLSI and improvise on it for real time safety critical environments. A state machine approach has been followed to achieve the desired purpose. The heart of the pacemaker system rests in the pulse generator which forms the major portion of the project. It has been developed using VHDL and implemented in hardware using FPGA. In the FSM, first an input event is detected. Once this input is detected a timer is set for approximately 0.8 sec, which will be the time between heartbeats, thus giving us
