Incremental document clustering is important in many applications, but particularly so in healthcare contexts where text data is found in abundance, ranging from published research in journals to day-to-day healthcare data such as discharge summaries and nursing notes. In such dynamic environments new documents are constantly added to the set of documents that have been used in the initial cluster formation. Hence it is important to be able to incrementally update the clusters at a low computational cost as new documents are added. In this paper the authors describe a novel, low cost approach

An important issue in the area of biology is form following function. It is evident that animals have wide variation in morphology, but what functions do these forms follow? The postural stability of an animal decreases as the neural delay increases. This delay increases with animal size because signals must travel across a longer distance at a constant speed. Despite this increase in delay, large animals typically do not fall. In addition to the neural components, animal morphology also affects stability. Therefore it is possible that stability is a guiding principle of morphology. An ani

The terminology of degraded areas is not uniform in Latvia and in the world at the moment - it is in the process of development and formulation. Some urban spatial plans also use the terms "abandoned sites" and "disordered sites". They are marked as territories where previous economic activity has been carried out, which is currently in force, but the involvement of these territories as functioning elements (especially - settlements) in the structure, their "return to life" is essential for the development of the municipality. Spatial plans often do not provide detailed information on the caus

In support of the development of the U.S. Army Tactical Brassiere (ATB), a sports bra for physical training activities, a three-phase study was designed and executed. The first-phase study (Choi-Rokas et al., 2022) investigated the relationship between overall coverage, design features, anthropometric characteristics, and mobility of seven commercial-off-the-shelf (COTS) sports brassieres to document the pros and cons of each design feature. As the results, a single COTS brassiere was ranked as the best out of all assessed sports brassieres, based on breast coverage, reduction of breast moveme

Abstract:
The overarching goal of the research is to determine the relationship between light-weighting and the life cycle environmental burdens of a rocket system. Light-weighting is done by replacing traditionally metal components with carbon fiber reinforced polymer components. This paper documents a preliminary analysis of the environmental burdens of a rocket, considering rockets of different sizes and propellant combinations. The purpose of the analysis is to first determine if such a relationship exists, and second to determine which components of the rocket most significantly influence the life

Abstract:
In recent years nanofluids have been attracting significant attention in the heat transfer research community. These fluids are obtained by suspending nanoparticles having sizes between 1 and 100 nm in regular fluids. It was found by several researchers that the thermal conductivity of these fluids can be significantly increased when compared to the same fluids without nanoparticles. Also, it was found that pool boiling critical heat flux increases in nanofluids. In this paper, our objective is to evaluate the impact of different nanoparticle characteristics including particle concentration, s

Abstract:
The paper documents the sharp reduction in union density in Peru between 1986 and 1998, in a context of large macroeconomic fluctuations, structural reforms and changes in the Collective Bargaining Law in 1993. The authors find that a blue-collar job, a permanent contract, higher education and working in a large firm increase the likelihood of unionization, but only before the legislative change. Using a panel of firms for the manufacturing sector for the period 1994-1996, a negative impact of unions on profits for all firm sizes is found. In the econometric analysis, a significant negative ef

Abstract:
Clamp-on ultrasonic meters remain of interest to the natural gas measurement community because of their potential to provide reasonable measurement accuracy without the need for piping modifications or service interruptions. The applications where clamp-on meters have been successfully applied include temporary measurement while a primary device is unavailable and diagnosing abnormal flow behaviors. The objective of this project was to examine existing public literature concerning the operation and application of clamp-on ultrasonic meters and to use this information to create a guideline docu

This report sets out to map the different guidance documents available on how to work most effectively with civil society in the delivery of international aid in ways that deepen democracy and advance the rights of marginalised or excluded groups. It includes a review of guidelines published by other key international development funders and implementors written for their own teams, an overview of guidance provided for DAC members within OECD countries and policy papers on cooperation between the state and CSOs. It looks primarily at documents produced in the last ten years, between 2011 and 2

While the general fracture mechanics methodology for calculating fatigue lives is well documented and validated, its application in the definition of pipeline system fatigue lives have differed from field experience. The source and magnitude of the conservatism inherent in the calculated fatigue life estimates are a concern when establishing integrity management programs. Of particular interest, are the fatigue life estimates used in the integrity management programs for Electric resistance welding (ERW) pipeline systems that are primarily concerned with pipe wall anomalies oriented along the
