The development and use of cocycles for analysis of non-autonomous behaviour is a technique that has been known for several years. Initially developed as an extension to semi-group theory for studying rion-autonornous behaviour, it was extensively used in analysing random dynamical systems [2, 9, 10, 12]. Many of the results regarding asymptotic behaviour developed for random dynamical systems, including the concept of cocycle attractors were successfully transferred and reinterpreted for deterministic non-autonomous systems primarily by P. This thesis is about the study of relationships between experimental dynamical systems. The basic approach is to fit radial basis function maps between time delay embeddings of manifolds. We have shown that under certain conditions these maps are generically diffeomorphisms, and can be analysed to determine whether or not the manifolds in question are diffeomorphically related to each other. If not, a study of the distribution of errors may provide information about the lack of equivalence between the two. In this paper, we prove, for a certain class of open billiard dynamical systems, the existence of a family of smooth probability measures on the leaves of the dynamical system's unstable manifold. These measures describe the conditional asymptotic behavior of forward trajectories of the system. Strong sufficient conditions for the uniqueness of such families are given which depend upon geometric properties of the system's phase space. In particular, these results hold for a fairly no

Modern complex dynamical systems typically possess a multiechelon hierarchical hybrid structure characterized by continuous-time dynamics at the lower-level units and logical decision-making units at the higher-level of hierarchy. Hybrid dynamical systems involve an interacting countable collection of dynamical systems defined on subregions of the partitioned state space. Thus, in addition to traditional control systems, hybrid control systems involve supervising controllers which serve to coordinate the (sometimes competing) actions of the lower-level controllers. Three areas from dynamical system theory are chosen for investigation: stability analysis, optimal control, and estimation theory.
