Flue gas produced by biomass fuel combustion contains various chlorine-containing substances and is an important factor causing biomass boiler corrosion. The corrosion processes of chlorine, hydrogen chloride and water on iron covered with an intact/damaged oxide film were investigated under the high temperature of 1300 K through reactive molecular dynamics simulation. The results show that the diffusion processes of oxygen and chlorine are similar and can be divided into three stages: rapid diffusion, continuous diffusion, and no oxide film (stable). AbstractDifferent migration mechanisms of chloride in concrete are introduced and various kinds of influences on diffusion coefficient, including temperature, relative humidity and age are also elaborated. Based on Fick second law and the boundary condition of close-end pipe pile, the analytical solution to chloride migration equation due to the process of both diffusion and convection is deduced. Applying this result to a typical jacked PHC pile, the chloride concentration is analyzed and the effect, which the seepage velocity, thickness of pipe pile and the diffusion coefficient have on distribution of chloride concentration, is also discussed. This example provides a computational basis for the corrosion of steel bar and some reference values for durability design of pipe pile.

AbstractTo study the durability of concrete structures against chloride ions penetrations under subway environmental conditions, permeability performance tests were conducted on high-performance concrete using the conductivity method and corrosions method, respectively. The experimental results show that the additions of fly ash, slag, and other admixtures in high-performance concrete have a significant effect on resisting the infiltrations and diffusions of chloride ions into the concrete. Considering the long-term durability of chloride ions penetrations, high-performance concrete with dual additions of fly ash and slag has better durability improvement than single additions. The durability life of high-performance concrete in chloride ions resistance test is 3–4 times longer than that of ordinary concrete.

Abstract:
Abstract Previous papers have been published with theoretical attempts to improve the so called "Rapid Chloride Permeability Test" and how to convert it to a reliable method for calculating chloride diffusion coefficients. The approach was based on considering the fundamentals of electrochemistry for ionic transport in electrolytes by the use of Nernst-Plank and Nernst-Einstein equations. In the present paper experimental details are given in order to compare natural diffusion and migration tests. The results indicate reasonable agreement between both test types and the soundness of the simpli
