Concrete structures exposed to marine environments, which contain high levels of Cl- and SO42- ions, accelerate the diffusion process of calcium hydroxide (Ca(OH)2), particularly in tidal zones due to the combined effects of carbonation and mechanical erosion from waves. The characteristic feature of the diffusion process of calcium hydroxide in concrete within marine environments is the diffusion coefficient of calcium hydroxide (k). During the initial reversible phase, sulfide is unable to diffuse into parts of the wood structure, probably because of charge exclusion. The diffusion of hydroxide and sulfide into saturated wood was imaged by immersing chips in white liquor, splitting them open and then imaging the hydroxide and sulfide profiles. China’s salt lake-based magnesium industry faces chloride removal challenges, which limit applications and cause pollution. Addressing this enables higher-quality Mg(OH)2 production. In this regard, chloride ion removal from magnesium hydroxide in a sodium hydroxide solution with ethanol was investigated for the first time. Ethanol and NaOH enhance chloride removal efficiency. Under optimized conditions, the chloride removal efficiency was 68.9%, and the Cl− content in Mg(OH)2 was reduced to 0.14%. Kinetic analysis suggests that the removal of chloride ions is primarily controlled by internal

Background. About 24-77% of root canal treatment failure cases are caused by infection of Enterococcus faecalis due to the resistance factor and virulence of these bacteria. Calcium hydroxide-based sealer and resin-based sealer are two types of sealer often used for root canal obturation due to their antibacterial properties. But the antibacterial properties owned by calcium hydroxide-based sealer has no effect on Enterococcus faecalis. Therefore, the adjunct of local antimicrobial such as amoxicillin is needed to increase antibacterial activities of root canal obturation materials (sealers) e

The goal of endodontic treatment is to prevent and control of pulp and periradicular infections. Calcium hydroxide has a beneficial biological property as an intracanal medicament and can be combined with cresotin to disinfect bacteria in root canals, especially Enterococcus faecalis (E. faecalis) which is the most frequently isolated strain in the root canals. The aim of this study was to investigate in vitro the antimicrobial activity of calcium hydroxide, cresotin, and combination calcium hydroxide and cresotin (Ca[OH]2+Cresotin, 1:1 and 1:2) against E. faecalis.
